Anybody?
If it doesn't make sense to buy Russian oil and gas ....
then does it make sense to buy Chinese solar panels?
Just asking for hundreds of millions of friends.
Remember the time Manchin talked up Hydrogen on TV?
..... starts around 5:00 in video .......
Maybe good policy/tax news before November?

https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20220301006113/en/ExxonMobil-Planning-Hydrogen-Production-Carbon-Capture-and-Storage-at-Baytown-Complex
ExxonMobil said today it is planning a hydrogen production plant and one of the world’s largest carbon capture and storage projects at its integrated refining and petrochemical site at Baytown, Texas, supporting efforts to reduce emissions from company operations and local industry.
FACT SHEET: President Biden to Highlight Clean Energy Manufacturing and Deployment Investments
https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/02/28/fact-sheet-president-biden-to-highlight-clean-energy-manufacturing-and-deployment-investments-that-cut-consumer-costs-strengthen-u-s-energy-sector-and-create-good-paying-jobs/
Will Biden say the 'H' word or 'CCS'?
In his first State of the Union address, the President will call on Congress to deliver on a legislative agenda for clean energy and climate action that has overwhelming support from the American people—Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.
Specifically, the President will lift up the benefits we can secure for American consumers, companies, and communities by enacting critical investments and tax credits for domestic clean energy manufacturing and deployment.
Within that story there is a 4 minute video which I recommend watching until the end. This is Goldman Sachs on CNBC spelling it out that Hydrogen is going to be huge. True.
Hydrogen generation could become a $1 trillion per year market, Goldman Sachs says
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/23/hydrogen-generation-could-become-1-trillion-market-goldman-sachs.html
Very cool about Canada!
I watched the video. Very cool to see FCEL and MCFC CCS getting respect and recognition.
Also, I am encouraged that this important project seems *not* to include Exxon (or Imperial - which I believe is the Exxon Canadian company). From what I can tell, Exxon is not involved. But Chevron, Shell and others are. So, it seems that FCEL is now doing MCFC CCS business with all of the major players, not just with Exxon. "This could be big".
Very interesting --- FCEL investment in Canada ... hmmmmm.... CCS in the future?
Great to see video of Manchin talking Hydrogen/CCS --- but also important to know that this is nothing new from Manchin or the Energy Committee. The have been consistently saying this literally for years. So, the hope now is that the rest of the establishment will get on board.
Unfortunately, under the 'all 50 Ds' for the BBB method, including many other issues, it's pretty clear that Hydrogen will be held hostage as a bargaining chip to try to get all of the BBB components ... and we have seen that probably will not work. So, hopefully there will be a Hydrogen-Only bill which will get bipartisan support of 60 senators - but politics may prevent that.
One thing for sure is that Manchin wants Hydrogen/CCS. Everyone knows this yet the media continues to ignore it, and they ask, 'What does Manchin want?'

Hydrogen debate heats up with energy policy set to be a key issue in federal election
https://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/mining-energy/hydrogen-debate-heats-up-with-energy-policy-set-to-be-a-key-issue-in-federal-election/news-story/efd2b9234948b068b117799ccb7e0d1f
A few years ago, the average Australian knew little about hydrogen energy. Now the debate is not whether hydrogen energy will be part of Australia’s clean energy future, but what sort of hydrogen it will be and how we will get there.
....
The debate over the potential of hydrogen energy, including how clean it is, is only just beginning in Australia. Either way, the debate over the potential of Australia’s hydrogen energy potential is set to heat up, with major implications for corporate Australia and its investors.
CCS literally getting more valuable every day in Europe
https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/carbon
Agreed Stocks - but I think FCEL can focus on both domestic and international at the same time. They can't control the policy decisions or timing of any country but they seem to be positioned pretty well to move wherever/whenever a country moves forward with hydrogen. Both with their own efforts in Germany, Italy, South Korea and others (?) and also especially due to Exxon operations which are literally worldwide.
omg - must read imho - comments from German chancellor Scholz at Whitehouse. Thanks Maximillian for the heads-up!
Joint press conference with Biden. Can you even imagine what would happen if Biden says the exact same thing that Scholz just said.
https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20220207005816/en/Phillips-66-and-H2-Energy-Europe-to-develop-hydrogen-refueling-network-in-Germany-Austria-and-Denmark
Excerpts regarding hydrogen below .....
..............
Q And to Chancellor Scholz: Can you outline specific steps that Germany is taking to reduce its energy dependence on Russia? And what do you say to those who suggest that German reliance on Russian gas is limiting Europe’s options for how to respond to the crisis in Ukraine?
CHANCELLOR SCHOLZ: (As interpreted.) Thank you very much for raising that question because it gives me the opportunity to address a topic that’s important to me. One good news, maybe, within its strategy on fighting manmade climate change, Germany has decided at very short — in a very short period of time to phase out of the use of oil and gas by — very soon. And by 2045, Germany will have a carbon neutral economy as one of the strongest economies of the world.
And with regard to these energies — we often think about heating at home and driving a car, but we’re talking about industrial production: producing steel, chemical substances, cement. And changing these industrial processes and reorganizing such systems is what we have planned.
So, this year, we will continue to take far-reaching decisions that will help us to use more wind energy — offshore wind energy, onshore wind energy — and solar energy; and expand the capacities, expand the grids; and have a strategy for Germany but also worldwide on the use of hydrogen, which is a central element for us to change our industrial processes that are using oil and gas right now.
The industry is willing to be on board. We’re doing this together with them, but it will probably be the biggest industrial modernization project in Germany in 100 years, with very good prospects that we will develop new technologies that other partners in the world can use as well, and this will help us fight climate change.
........
........
And, Mr. Chancellor — liquefied natural gas. There is a big controversy in Germany about fracking gas and how far is LNG even a real replacement, or is it also with a view to the climate collab you intend to found. Is it really an alternative to Russian pipeline gas?
....
CHANCELLOR SCHOLZ: (As interpreted.) I can confirm that we work closely with the United States of America, and Joe Biden and I are working closely together as well.
We are prepared for all kinds of situation. And that’s part of what we do when we say we prepare sanctions. That means we need to be able to react at any time, and this is happening.
With regard to the use of LNG, I can say that the biggest volume of LNG used across the world is gas, and that is part of the debate.
Concerning a long-term perspective, I already outlined what this is about. We will modernize our economy. And where gas is being used, we will switch to hydrogen. This will be a process that will happen faster than many might imagine today, and that will create a bright future for all of us.
That's awesome to read Max - thanks for that news
I have visited Ukraine three times and one thing I learned from reading the English newspaper was that it is mostly all about NatGas/Oil. Also, sad to say but Russia/Ukraine have been fighting a true (but limited) war for many years and with many thousands dead. It's sad to think that all of this is due to wars over energy (natgas) but it appears that is largely true.
Well, hopefully there will be stability soon mostly for everyone's safety/security and also in terms of reliable and dependable natgas supplies and a stable development of the Hydrogen Society.
Phillips 66 and H2 Energy Europe to develop hydrogen refueling network in Germany, Austria and Denmark
https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20220207005816/en/Phillips-66-and-H2-Energy-Europe-to-develop-hydrogen-refueling-network-in-Germany-Austria-and-Denmark
Phillips 66 is based in Houston. Sad that incentives have not yet been established in US to build out true hydrogen network. Great, however, to read that Germany is taking the lead.
Agreed Stocks. Those are the questions and I don't think anyone has the answers. I surely thought that the 50 D Senators (and all in the House) would come to an agreement. Bit given that they need 100% in this horribly-structured "put everything into one bill" process, it seems unlikely and now a waste of more time.
I believe that maybe they are going old/normal-school and voting independently on more-or-less one issue at a time, starting with climate. This will not get votes of either far left or many right wing - but it may be easier to get 60 senators, like infrastructure, than all 50 D Senators.
If that is the process going forward then I guess maybe 3 or 4 months??? Or maybe it will be stretched until just before November elections. I hope it happens sooner, like in March but hard to tell for sure.
Manchin crosses party lines in officially endorsing Murkowski
https://thehill.com/homenews/sunday-talk-shows/593041-manchin-crosses-party-lines-in-officially-endorsing-murkowski
For anyone following the drawn-out politics involving Manchin...
Murkowski was the previous chairwoman of the Energy Committee, and now Manchin has that role. They are both strong advocates of CCS/Hydrogen, as are many members of that committee who are Republicans, such as Barrasso from Wyoming, who will probably be the next Energy chairman in November.
My understanding of this article/endorsement is that Manchin is trying to 'start from scratch' on a new climate bill which will be able to get 60 bipartisan votes, much like the infrastructure bill did. If that is possible, then imho, that will be the very best thing for FCEL because it will be highly CCS/Hydrogen friendly.

Article about Exxon moving HQ to Houston. What does this mean for FCEL? Maybe nothing. Maybe something. Tick Tock!
Europe's carbon price nears the 100 euro milestone
"The Price of Carbon" is something that I have never paid much attention to but maybe it's a lot more important than I thought. The best I can tell is that rather than having a 45Q-type carbon tax credit (carrot), Europe uses a 'price on carbon' stick, which they may be avoided by CCS and other green methods. Somehow this has a market-based price, which was about $10/ton five years ago but has recently up to over $100/ton. Anyway, I think if it goes much higher, then CCS in Europe will become 'profitable'.
https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/europes-carbon-price-nears-100-euro-milestone-2022-02-04/
https://sandbag.be/index.php/carbon-price-viewer/
By putting a price on pollution, the EU ETS provides a financial incentive for companies to cut emissions and invest in green technologies. For years the price was too low to encourage that, given the huge upfront investments needed to scale green technologies in sectors like cement and steelmaking.
At a CO2 price of 100 euros, industry estimates suggest carbon capture and storage technology could be cost effective in applications including refineries - although other technologies such as hydrogen produced from renewable energy would need still higher CO2 costs.

Reminder of Joe Manchin document signed by Schumer
Media pretends to not know what Manchin wants. Here is the document:
https://static.politico.com/1e/ef/159cabd547868585f9b1a8f06388/july-28-2021.pdf
Thank you Chuck.
Only thing we know 100% for sure is that right now it's all about politics/policy and it is completely F'd up for sure. Hopefully that will change relatively soon. Good luck to all!
I see Manchin totally differently and I have followed his views for a long time.
People claim that they do not know what he wants regarding climate/energy and that he changes his view. Others feel that they can speak for him, and this gets reported in the media as his views. In fact, he spelled out his desires very clearly in a very brief bullet point agreement, signed by himself and Chuck Schumer. In that he said that he wanted hydrogen and CCS to have a prominent role, and that he wanted "sole jurisdiction" of the energy/climate part of BBB, which is not unreasonable since he is the chairman of the Energy committee. He was never given anything close to that, only the chance to sign on to a very solar/wind related bill written by others, although there is an increase in 45Q from $50 to $85 apparently.
If Manchin were allowed to have his wishes, he would have a separate bill which would be supported with enough Repubs to pass with hydrogen/ccs being the focus, similar to the infrastructure bill. The reason this is not allowed to happen so far is that Ds are basically holding hydrogen/ccs hostage, hoping that Manchin will cave on other issues, and that they can attach many other bills and still only need 50 votes. So, the reason ccs/hydrogen are being ignored is not the fault of Manchin, it is the exact opposite. Biden and Granholm and Kerry claim that they support CCS and Hydrogen but why have they not said anything in six months? Who is not being consistent?
Manchin is obviously a coal/gas guy, no doubt. But just as Exxon and others are pushing for ccs/hydrogen, so is he. It is others who talk about the 'dangers' of ccs who are not being honest.
p.s. Manchin has been consistent on other issues too, while many others have flipped their position (and will flip it again in November) but those are other issues.
Your view of Manchin is 100% wrong. Manchin is the best friend that Hydrogen and CCS have. The current/old BBB bill is highly skewed to solar/wind and Manchin will fight to give Hydrogen and CCS a much larger representation. You will see that this will be true in the coming weeks as the solar/wind industry will fight against hydrogen/ccs and Manchin will fight for it.

Either watch it all or skip to about 7:15 into the video.
It's all about Manchin and it's all about CCS/Hydrogen. Without that, literally nothing passes for Dems.
True.
It’s Manchin’s climate bill now. Here’s what might be in it
https://www.eenews.net/articles/its-manchins-climate-bill-now-heres-what-might-be-in-it/
First article I have seen which talks about Manchin's desire for hydrogen/ccs. This is the 800 pound gorilla that has been dismissed for the past year. If Dems want any legislation at all to pass, they must meet Manchin's demands on hydrogen/ccs. This should not be complicated, since DOE and Biden both support hydrogen/ccs.
The article give some dollar figures and you can see that the old BBB bill was highly slanted to solar/wind and shafted hydrogen/ccs. However, article did not mention 45Q tax credits which were significant but will surely be even higher now that everyone is acknowledging that Manchin is in control and the clock is literally ticking before midterms are approaching.
Overnight Energy & Environment — Starting from 'scratch' on climate, spending bill
https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/overnights/590720-energy-environment
The bad news is that the delay in policy decisions has been brutal for stock price. The good news is that Manchin is in control and he is going to fight hard to make this a Hydrogen/CCS bill as much as anything.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said Thursday that talks over President Biden's sweeping climate and social spending package would be "starting from scratch," throwing cold water on hopes of a quick revival.
"We're going to start with a clean sheet of paper and start over," Manchin told reporters, adding he doesn't have talks scheduled with the White House.
Pressed if his previous $1.8 trillion offer to the White House was still on the table, Manchin indicated it wasn't, saying Democrats will "just be starting from scratch."
FCEL has got to be involved big time, imho.
It is Exxon's project, in their backyard, and it's all about CCS.
