An analyst with a clue

Snow
Someone that has been following AMD and Intel stock and products since 1999 and knows a little about both. But you can ignore me and polish your tin hat.
Snow
Looked like a pretty even split on both sites. What data were you basing your post on?
Snow
They might sell a bit more than 0.1% at a $999 price
This pricing reminds me of the pathetic FX-62. Tell me mas, would you buy an FX-62 or a E6600? If an FX-62 then tell me why.
Snow
Mas,
Check all my posts, you're not going to find one where I said Rev F was a paper launch.
Snow
LOL
Snow
Ah yes, Native Quad Core AMD processors. :)
Snow
For those of you who aren't quite sure about the CPU's used in the PowerEdge 1955 Server, here's the spec sheet.
http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/en/pe1955_spec_sheet.pdf
Oh my, is that the paper launched Woodcrest? I think so. Of course our friend is going to mention that's it's been a month since the launch, he/she will ignore that this is only one of many sales with an astonishing 5,120 cpus and that these type of systems aren't configured and built over night. But of course, he/she will be right, as always.
Snow
That's not Alan's position, it's Eachus's position.
Snow
Paper launched toys! :)
Snow
So I'm guessing Eachus believes AMD's response can be fully ramped in one day vs. Intel's 2 to 3 months? Typical. He'll be learning a lot over the next 3 quarters when AMD has no real response and in the next 4 to 5 quarters when AMD's ramp of K8L takes longer than a day. ;)
Intel owns 2H06 and 2007. I don't anticipate any real K8L volumes until Q4 2007. It's also going to be very tough for K8L to close a 30% performance deficiency let alone beat Core 2 Duo.
Snow
Bought 518 shares at $16.86
Snow
Speaking of the Motley Fool, Alan is Eachus still there? What's his take on Core 2 Duo. Is he holding his breath until K8L?
Snow
The Motley Fool used to be a good site to read, it's declined over the years and added a fee to boot.
Snow
will be ready to move to the platform using the low power 65nm process for the northbridge.
Exactly! This also implies that the CPU will be on an even lower power 45nm process; however, this is just FUD. ;)
Snow
I appolgize Comb, mas has been sturing the pot on the Intel board and I brought it with me.
Snow
You know, it's called socket F for a reason. Unfortunately for AMD, none of the reasons are positive.
FYI - save me the condesending responses about manufacturing process steppings
Snow
Too late, still not enough.
Immediately available, underwhelming, underperforming, overpriced Opteron Socket F's.... I'm impressed. I'm not squirming but you should be. Xeon 5160!!!!
Snow
Exciting news, keep us posted. I'm jealous. :)
Snow
Yeah, I just saw it too. Dell said Sony was the battery supplier. Ouch!
Snow
and you don't even have that... Mr. one liner genius.
Snow
save Intel butt
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Intel and AMD are in a US Court and in the US you are innocent until proven guilty.
Snow
I've often wondered the same thing.
Snow
Personal insults aside, you're right, I don't know how to interpret this data. Perhaps you can explain what these field names represent and whether or not lower or higher scores are better.

Mas,
Lets put this issue to rest. I just downloaded the Top 500 list of super computers and here's how Intel and AMD line up:
IA-64 37
IA-32 147
EM64T 118
Total Intel 302
AMD 80
302 vs 80. Somebody doesn't think IA CPU's are toys.
Snow
Opteron is a toy compared to large scale Itanium systems. You know that don't you?
Snow
You're probably right. It makes it easier for Dell to qualify the entire system when they can limit their interaction to as few party's as possible.
Snow
Intel was challenging the court's jurisdiction over a case that crosses international boundaries. The judge said no to the jurisdiction issue. Nothing more, nothin less. Nice try though.
Snow
massively parallel processor supercomputer
Why would they choose x86 cpus for this type of application? RISC and EPIC (i.e. Power5 or Itanium) would be a much better fit.
Snow
Dear Peter,
When you think HPC, don't think Xeon with Woodcrest, think Itanium 2. Even your blessed Opteron and it's HT doesn't touch Itanium 2 when it comes to HPC configurations and workloads. Like Gordon said, someone wasted tax dollars.
Snow
You know banker, before you recommend mas ban people on this board, I think you should wander over to the Intel board. I think you'll see my behavior is rather mild compared to his.
Snow
I guess it depends on your bias doesn't it? Are you saying that DARBES posts are valuable? Go check them out before you start talking about banning people. Some of your own AMD fans post equally valuable posts. I think you would do better in a Communist country where information is regulated by the "elite".
Snow
You're right. This board is so fortunate to have DARBES posting his/her wonderful AMD investing insights.
Snow
Yaw. Such an engaging conversation we're having. Then again I checked your last 50 posts and you really don't say much do you?
Snow
Should we start calling you fastpete now? Isn't that a page out of his book?
Snow
You will be disappointed
Actually, was wrong in my last post. In order to prove your point, you have to prove a negative. On the other hand, I simply need to show you comparable design wins and sales. Here you go:
http://www.sgi.com/company_info/newsroom/press_releases/2006/august/florida_au.html
http://www.sgi.com/company_info/newsroom/press_releases/2006/august/jsf_training.html
http://www.itanium-integrity.com/index_flash.html
Just a sample, but I don't expect you to do your research.
Snow
Nice approach. In order to counter your statement, I would have to prove a negative by showing you all the orders that Intel isn't going to get. I don't know if you've studied logic, but you can't prove a negative. I think you need to do your home work on Itanium 2.
