OT: U.S. gasoline price up for 1st time in 3 months By Tom Doggett
1 hour, 52 minutes ago
U.S. drivers faced their first rise in gasoline costs in three months as the national average pump price increased a penny over the last week to $2.22 a gallon, the government said on Monday.
The average price for regular unleaded gasoline is still close to the lowest level since last December and 26 cents less than a year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration's weekly survey of service stations.
After reaching a summer high of $3.04 a gallon on August 7, the pump price had declined 83 cents, dropping for a record 11 weeks in a row.
The rise in the latest gasoline price mirrors last week's increase in crude oil costs, after a government report showed an unexpected, large drop in U.S. oil and petroleum product inventories and market concerns emerged about a possible al Qaeda attack on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities.
The price of crude oil accounts for about half the cost of making gasoline. The new jump at the pump could be short-lived as oil settled down $2.39, or nearly 4 percent, to $58.36 a barrel in Monday trading at the New York Mercantile Exchange after traders became less worried about a threat of terror attacks on Saudi oil sites.
In the EIA's new weekly survey, West Coast service stations had the most expensive gasoline by region, down 4.5 cents to $2.41 a gallon. Los Angeles had the highest pump price among cities at $2.42 a gallon, down 4.6 cents.
The cheapest gasoline was again along the Gulf Coast at $2.10 a gallon, up 1.1 cents. Houston had the best deal at the pump at $2.02, up 1.3 cents.
The EIA also reported that prices were down 4.2 cents in San Francisco at $2.41, down 6.8 cents in Seattle at $2.39, down 1.7 cents in Miami at $2.31, up 4.1 cents in Chicago at $2.27, up 0.4 cent in New York City at $2.18, down 3.5 cents in Denver at $2.15 and up 0.2 cent in Boston at $2.15.
Separately, the EIA said the price truckers paid for diesel fuel fell a slight 0.7 cent to $2.52 a gallon, down 36 cents from a year ago.
Service stations in the central Atlantic states charged the most for diesel at an average $2.65 a gallon, down half a penny. The Gulf Coast states had the cheapest diesel at $2.46, down 1.5 cents.
Thanks Creede! Sounds promising and exciting. eom
"IMO, the price for oil will be going up"
That was my ONLY point in posting the article before.
Extreme, but you did put alot of effort into your site.
Best of luck to ya!
OT: Al Qaeda: Plans for an October Surprise?
Newsweek
Nov. 6, 2006 issue - Is Osama bin Laden going to weigh in on the midterm elections? A senior counterterrorism official, anonymous, like other officials NEWSWEEK spoke to, because the subject is sensitive, says that based on previous patterns—such as the release of a rare bin Laden tape just before the 2004 presidential vote—a message before Election Day wouldn't be surprising. Private expert Evan Kohlmann, who consults for the Feds on terror probes, says Al Qaeda has lately released tapes at a rate of two or three per month. This month, he says, they are "short by one or two," so he thinks a pre-election message is a "very good likelihood." Another U.S. official says intel experts believe Al Qaeda wants to be "relevant" to the U.S. political process. But a third counterterror official says "we don't have any indication" Osama & Co. are about to surface. Spokesmen for the FBI and Homeland Security Department said they were unaware of specific intel foreshadowing an attack on U.S. soil before the elections. Overseas, the threat is more ominous: reports of a possible attack on Saudi oil installations (which could raise U.S. gas prices). The perpetrators would probably be Saudi Qaeda affiliates; methods could include truck or boat bombs. U.S. agencies are not certain of the threat's credibility, an official said.

Between continued threats terrorism wise and OPEC cutting production, IMHO, watch out after the election. I believe oil and gas prices will rise again significantly....
The state of the world and oil continues:
Saudi Arabia confirms threat to oil facilities
Fri Oct 27, 2006 11:19 AM ET
RIYADH (Reuters) - Top world oil exporter Saudi Arabia said on Friday it was taking measures to protect its oil and economic installations from a "terrorist threat".
Western naval forces in the Gulf have been deployed to counter a possible seaborne threat to its Ras Tanura oil terminal.
"The terrorist threat to the kingdom's economic installation exists and it is a declared goal of the straying faction to affect the interests of the Saudi citizen," an Interior Ministry spokesman said.
"Saudi security forces are cooperating and coordinating with the Saudi navy to take the necessary security measures," he told Reuters.
I think you are right on base! All we need is the follow-through! eom
Thanks for that info tree! Guess I'll have to wait longer to see Tyche $$$ in the account!
Looking good to me! eom
Thanks! I look forward to new and old friends to enjoy when that day comes!
Best always!
Becoming pretty clear that the bottom is in and we're moving up. The enourmous amount of backed up news may well make BIGN the hottest topic in pinksville in November, IMHO!
Thanks again Creede! eom
I cannot tell a lie. I saw your explanation on your new board this morning! For me, HE can come back from east, west, north or south! :)
Best to you!!
Creede: Thanks for the picture. It is now my background! Holding these shares tightly!
God Bless!!!
Thank you much Billiam! Life and God are truly good! eom
Been on the sidelines recently taking care of some health issues. But I wanted to put my two cents in on why I still hold ALL my shares:
1) I was a moron for not selling at .06 LOL!!!
2) Publically, NOTHING has changed in terms of long term potential. If anything, since my first purchase of shares, there is MORE long term potential no matter what happens with the LOI.
3) Through this entire and maddening 'quiet period' the pps has dropped on relatively small volume and $$$ exchange. IMHO, mostly folks frustrated, scared and angry and looking for riches elsewhere. Go back and look at the record: There have been NO days of wholesale selling (meaning in the 10's of millions of shares).
4) The potential deal(s) are clear if only in that they appear VERY complex in nature. Many factors apparently involved and complex and delicate negotiations that have taken much longer then any of us hoped for. BIG things take time! Silence at this point IMHO is not a sign of scam, but a sign of major things being decided about the future of this company. Have patience or go find something else to invest in. Bashing at this time and circumstance seems self defeating and COULD make one look awfully silly in due time.
5) Finally, the ultimate reason I did not sell is because this is my 'venture capital' at work here. As with Eat and others, I see this company as having the POTENTIAL to be a big winner in time. If ALL I wanted was .06 a share I WOULD HAVE SOLD then. I held because this COULD be a life enhancing stock in time. Would I put my mortgage $$$ here? Of course not. And anyone who has is a d..n fool!
So I'm in for the long haul and hope and pray we all come out on top here someday!
Wishing you all the best and good luck!
OPEC Cuts Oil Production by 1.2M Barrels
Oct 19 7:15 PM US/Eastern
The oil cartel OPEC has decided to cut production by 1.2 million barrels a day, the United Arab Emirates' oil minister said Friday. Mohammed bin Dhaen al-Hamili made the announcement at a news conference after OPEC's oil ministers held an emergency meeting in the capital of Qatar.
The output cut is aimed at boosting prices, which have declined more than 25 percent since mid-July. It is to take effect Nov. 1.
He did not specify the amount of production that each member country would cut, but said the reductions will affect all countries Iraq.
The cuts will come from actual production levels, he said.
The cuts are the first time OPEC has trimmed its output since December when oil traded slightly above $40 a barrel and the cartel lowered its official production quota by 1 million barrels a day.
However, many observers expect further production cuts in the near future.
Michael Fitzpatrick, a New York-based oil broker at Fimat USA, said "I'm not sure that a million barrels is going to be enough" of a cut to keep oil prices from further declines.
Qatar's Energy Minister Abdullah bin Hamid Al-Attiyah said the cartel's members are not excluding making further cuts.
Asked whether another cut could come in December, he said, "Everything is possible. We are working with the market and it is an open market."
Al-Hamili echoed the possibility, saying "We will monitor the market and review the situation and take a decision accordingly."
OPEC is scheduled to meet again in December in Nigeria and many analysts believe a further cut could be implemented then. "They better act quickly and decisively," Fitzpatrick said.
The organization's president, Edmund Daukoru of Nigeria, said talk of the possible need of a further 500,000-barrel cut was "in line with my own thinking," Dow Jones Newswires reported.
OPEC price hawks such as Nigeria and Venezuela have strongly advocated a cartel-wide production cut since the start of the month.
But without public support from Saudi Arabia, the market took with a grain of salt the likelihood of any cuts.
Amen brother!!! eom
Lurking on the sidelines....
But PLEASE everyone take heed and DO NOT harrass Royal with calls!!
Learn from past examples!!!
Good Luck to all of us!
.009 eom
I always liked that prediction best anyway! :) eom
So we wait until 10/20 hmm? I was never great in math LOL!
But I think they said within 120 days..... Crud! Now I'm back to my end of the month prediction... Either way it's acomin'!
Well 9/25 for that Monday! eom
OK, 9/23/06 would be ok!
"Biogenerics management is gearing up to purchase the entire operations of this company, which includes the wells mentioned in options (2) and (3). If the company's due diligence proves this transaction to be viable, then the result will be that Biogenerics has purchased proven reserves of 10.4 million bbls of oil which has historically graded out at the 42 gravity level, plus the opportunity to prove up and own another 15 million bbls of oil reserves. The daily production of existing wells in the East Texas Oil Field being acquired is estimated at 275 bbls/day. This will be a major step for the company and will place it as a major operator in the oil industry in the State of Texas and surrounding areas.
The company anticipates this deal should close within the next 120 days. Financing for the transaction is being researched with commitments for financing being obtained from three lending and investment sources."
It still looks like a quick race to .02 when it does fall. eom
