These researchers stayed away from Golden Orb DNA, so their silks will not infringe on the patents owned by Notre Dame.
By reporting in a scientific journal, they can claim the accomplishment of ‘first’ to create a complete spider silk using GMO techniques.
This is the kind of situation where Thompson’s proclivity for silence hurts KBLB and all investors.
I don’t know how efficient their production was. But clearly people attacking the goo approach need to recognize that microbes can produce pure, complete, and high performance fibers.
Thompson ought to be losing sleep over this. Not good for shareholders either.
You confessing to be a paid writer? Frankly, I don’t think the company who is paying you is getting their money’s worth. They may want to find someone who can make more credible arguments.
Want2retire: “My guess is some feel the vitriol goes a bit beyond noting risks.”
Agreed. But some of the boosters go ‘a bit’ beyond the credible.
When you can’t effectively produce your silks with less than 10% spider silk genes, there is little hope of the nearly pure silks being scaled up.
The Wright Brothers didn’t try to make a 747 to prove human flight possible. They made a wooden and canvas biplane that took years of refinement. Edison didn’t build 200 watt spotlights, just a dim light that lasted for 1200 hours or so.
Before Thompson found a way to produce commercial quantities of MS, before he found a way to produce commercial quantities of DS, he was always on to the next big thing. Nearly pure spider silk may someday be a thing, but only if Thompson can find a way to make MS or DS at scale.
Within the past year or so, Thompson has begun to realize commercial scale production is a priority. Frankly if he never teased us about developments beyond that, I would be happy. Make MS and DS then work on other stuff.
Before you learn how to fly, learn how to walk.
Thanks for that info. I can’t find a way on Charles Schwab to look at the numerical volume by transaction. All I could see is that the number of shares bought right before close was so small, it could not be seen in the volume chart.
Normally when shares are being snapped up on a Monday, I suspect someone is buying on the hopes of a Tuesday PR. But the last buy of yesterday suggests this was more of a case of someone wanting to paint the stock with some momentum.
If brokers relied on an average price over a day, yesterday would have looked different. Same if that last trade hadn’t executed just before the bell.
Good catch.
Lol!
Want2retire also said something interesting: “This is a lottery ticket. It’s a penny stock on the OTC. Everyone should understand the risks.”
There are many posters on this board who portray KBLB as a risk free investment. When others counter with evidence of the considerable risks involved for investors of KBLB, he complains we are badgers and encourages us to leave.
Bob,
I’m wondering why the same posters show up, day after day, telling us:
- how great the CEO is
- how the company must hide their fantastic accomplishments because of competitors who can only produce a cheap imitation of KBLB’s amazing fibers
- how their forward looking statements have already happened, like so many times in the past.
- that Air Force funding is a SLAM DUNK but KBLB is still a risky investment.
They tell us to ‘back the truck up’ but seldom seem to follow their own advice. All of these encouraging posts fall like snowflakes in a blizzard every day, in spite of year after year of missed deadlines, unexplained pauses in production, zero commercial production, no sales, and no revenue.
But we should thank them for their support! IHub lives off posters like them, keeping that click rate up just to fantasize, fantasize, and attack anyone who disagrees.
Given the four-letter vitriol you provoke, I’m guessing your posts are hitting a nerve.
Huh.
Thanks for the link. I also found a recent article on a bio protein that has a tensile strength of 1 GPa and is tougher than Golden Orb silk.
Instead of trying to replicate spider silk in a bacteria, they found a variation on the genetic sequence that was easier to produce in bacteria and still had a tensile strength of 1 GPa.

Enjoy! And Bring in the goo bashers!
Deflect, deny, attack. When faced with years of efforts to pump up the share price, one nonsensical contortion after another, that’s his playbook now.
After his dreams and fantasies keep smashing into cold hard reality, he may be suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
When the volume gets quite low (as it has been over the past week or so, today only 126K, less than $5,000), I interpret that as a sign the price may swing in the not-too-distant future.
If we get solid news, hopefully a good bounce. But the absence of news may have a bigger negative impact than normal.
Note this is an opinion only, not gospel truth.
This is my understanding, too. The Notice of Effectiveness referenced a submission that was still preliminary (i.e., no new dilution/shares sold) but simply deleted some information that was out of date from the preliminary S1.
Thanks. It looks like a clerical issue that has very little import, one way or the other.
Want2retire: “The S1 has been pending while they try to get ready to up list. Now it is advancing. That would signal the business plan is advancing as well.”
That’s not my read, but I could be wrong again. All I see is that KBLB is making efforts to keep the S1 up-to-date, but no indication that it is ‘advancing.’ Can you explain your position?
I understand and agree that the intent of the S1 is to do 3 things:
1) Perform a reverse split to increase the share price;
2) Announce a public offering to obtain funds for the company;
And
3) Uplist KBLB from OTC to NASDAQ.
Currently the S1 that is on file is a preliminary S1. As such, the SEC will not take any action on this S1. KBLB would have to submit a revised final S1 before the SEC would consider that for possible approval.
My question was really about the Notice of Effectiveness that the SEC posted. Presumably after KBLB files a final S1 and the SEC agrees to approve it, they will post a Notice of Effectiveness that will allow KBLB to perform the actions described in 1-3 above.
That would be a significant development, as it meant that KBLB’s plan could go forward. I initially thought that was the meaning of the Notice of Effectiveness that I saw posted. Instead the notice seems to just agree to some amendments that KBLB submitted to their Preliminary S1. As such, I don’t think it means a great deal, one way or the other. It just means that KBLB is keeping the S1 in limbo but up-to-date, rather than triggering it or declaring it dead.
None of the answers so far have provided have a definitive answer about the meaning of the Notice of Effectiveness.
As best I can figure out, the Notice of Effectiveness covers a post-effective amendment of the preliminary S1 that updates the preliminary S1 to eliminate the material in that filing about the ongoing financing through Yorkville.
The preliminary S1 is structured to perform a reverse split and a new phase of financing. But this preliminary S1 will have to be replaced with a final S1 before it can be approved.
It looks to me like the post-effective amendments that were approved by the SEC are mostly a matter of keeping the preliminary S-1 up to date.
Do you read this differently? I could be way off base here.
Bob, the pumpers are getting quite nervous. Year after year, no objective proof of success in spite of their insistence it will happen ‘soon,’ ‘very soon,’ ‘tic-toc,’ and so on.
Expect additional insanity through the end of the year, because KBLB won’t be in a position to attempt re-starting production in Vietnam until early 2024 at the earliest.
Hope they are taking their blood pressure medicine. They’re gonna need a double dose before the year ends.
Gimme: “It is not posters on this board that are the cause for the low share price. It's the lack of results, poor communications, piss poor follow thru and too many missed forward looking statements.”
Hard to argue with that. How are those immunity worms doing? Haven’t heard much about those tests. How about the hybrid strains sent in January? Not sure where KBLB stands with them.
There is one positive to keep in mind now. For the longest time Thompson always seemed like he was going in a million different directions: nearly pure spider silk; immunity worms; biological proteins instead of sericin, heart valves, on and on. Now he seems to understand he has to be able to produce his silks on a commercial scale or none of the rest of his great ideas will mean very much. The focus on production, while long overdue, is a step in the right direction.
Truth’s reports on the 4-strain hybrids being used in Vietnam for several years now shows how late he was in taking this step. Still, if you need to go somewhere, turning to face the right direction counts as progress.
Stating the year was 2014 when it was actually 2013 doesn’t strike me as a ‘half truth.’ KBLB filed for incorporation in 2006. It’s now 2023, meaning the company has been in existence 17 years (+ or - a few months). 1/17 is 5.88%, so I believe your statement was 94.12% correct. A big jump up from 50%.
Reading this board now is a lot like taking a deep dive into Q-Anon territory. Conspiracies are everywhere. Badgers are paid money to post evidence from the company’s own PRs to ‘undermine’ the company. If you don’t agree that KBLB is all sunshine and lollipops, you are against us. Go away.
They mostly seem like a bunch of petulant, snarky kids to me. Incredibly childish. Someday they may have some solid news to buttress their fantasies.
Will KBLB succeed in 2024?
Hope so.
Not sure.
So where is iHUB on this list? I didn’t see it.
Another curiosity: In June, Thompson owned more shares of KBLB and reported holding 42% of the shares. Now he owns 500,000 fewer shares, but his share of the total is up to 43%. Any ideas?
Official KBLB Booster Song
We are close, very close.
Coming soon, change your tune.
Or Crow you’ll eat, with your feet …
But Celebrate, Anticipate!
Coming weeks, full of sweets,
January, worms they tarry,
February, cold and hairy,
Nor in March, worms fed larch,
April May, not today,
Not in June, not so soon,
Or July, though we try,
Oh August, now a bust,
This September, now an ember,
But October, we start over,
In November, we remember,
That December come the winter,
Not to late, to celebrate,
In January, we be merry,
Or February, drinking sherry,
Wait on March, don’t be harsh,
April stay, no other delay,
Come what May, just you say,
Coming soon, very soon.
We are close, VERY CLOSE!
Axolotl: “When the only path of recourse for someone so emotionally involved in their speculations is to lash out in infantile anger at someone pointing out valid criticisms, it tells you a lot.”
Amen.
Note: Most people reading this article understand that ‘strawberry’ is a mis-translation of ‘mulberry’. If not, whenever you see the term ‘strawberry,’ just realize they are still talking about mulberry leaves.
TRUISM, it’s good to see so much research and development in Vietnam to improve their sericulture. Only wish we knew more about where KBLB stands.
Loose lips sink ships. Tight lips sink share price, the KBLB way.
Lots of useful stuff on Vietnamese sericulture in addition to the hybrid lines. The way they describe sterilization implies that silkworms are raised in generations, not in a situation where the facility raises silkworms continuously.
I wish we knew more about GSS. They may already be employing these sterilization techniques.
But Arachnodude might reply that Thompson reassuring investors about the quality of their 3rd party silkworm farm would reveal sensitive information to competitors, even as he believes that KBLB doesn’t have competitors.
Defending Thompson can lead to pretzel-like contortions.
PR this week?
TRUISM, why do you insist on bringing up the past from JANUARY of 2023. That’s all behind us now. Since then, KBLB has released 4 PRs and one more letter to shareholders. Two of those PRs were about hiring more people for the lab, one of them announced a delivery of hybrid silkworm lines to GSS (that have apparently since fallen off the map), and one announced KBLB’s intent to submit information to the Air Force.
Things are so much different now. We have more forward looking statements. LEAVE THE PAST BEHIND.
And, you are so old, when you were young rainbows only came in black and white.
Take that.
On reflection, ‘Smiles, Silence, Disappointments’ is also a contender.
Great glove photo! Maybe it’s never shown full size because it will only fit a baby hand?
KBLB: So proud of their work, they never show it.
I am being paid by KBLB to insult posters who are making critical posts about the company. Hard to come up with original insults, as there are so many being tossed around, so I’m having to dig deep into my ‘Bag O Insults.’
I’m also being paid by Spiber to criticize KBLB, as has been reported many times on this board. Not sure how they found out, but it doesn’t matter.
Some might call playing for both sides a conflict of interest. I call it good old-fashioned greed.
How about ‘Smiles, Disappears, Disappointments’?
To all iHUB reading this board: Beware of the TRUISM. He has been known to:
1) Brush his teeth twice a day;
2) Chew his food with his mouth closed;
3) Pee into the toilet, not outside the bowl;
4) Provide evidence in support of his ‘opinions.’
Anyone exhibiting such suspicious behavior cannot be trusted. He is suspected of working for the Chinese and/or North Korean Governments. READER BEWARE.
In addition to Blueazur’s observations about the group who continually attacks KBLB, let me add that those critics are all STUPID, UGLY, and STINK. Double goes for that wretched fellow Dimes!
Yes. KBLB is now paying me quite a bit of money under the table to promote their stock. Since I still have that lucrative $50,000 per month arrangement with Spiber, expect me to attack both sides from now on.
PATRIK, YOUR SENSIBLE AND MODERATE POSTS MAKE ME SO ANGRY I COULD SCREAM. PLEASE USE YOUR EJECTION SEAT TO DEPART FROM THIS BOARD IMMEDIATELY OR I WILL SCREAM. I LIKE TO SCREAM, YOU SEE.
DimesForShares, until psychologists tested you, they never realized IQ scores could fall below zero.
Gruber, can I have the name of your hair salon? I need to know where not to go.
Imjin, I’ve seen salad that dresses better than you do.
Deannie, you are as useful as a screen door on a submarine!
TRUISM, You are so old, when you were a kid rainbows were in black and white!
WebSlinger, You're so ugly, when your mom dropped you off at school she got a fine for littering!
Bob Mullet, your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.
Take that!
Something that has amazed me since the change in iHub’s TOS is how much passion has been expressed in response to those who are critical of even some aspects of KBLB. Even relatively neutral posts that raise the possibility of a less-than-stellar outcome are met with considerable personal hostility.
The current dynamic frequently plays out where a critical post is generated and it is met by fierce personal attacks.
Critic: “KBLB is facing challenges in moving forward.”
Response: “You are being paid to bash this company.”
These responses strike me as childish, but I think that is unfair to a lot of children. Infantile might be a better term.
Unfortunately the Ignore button has not operated as I expected on my app. I still see messages by those who I have clicked as ignore. I’m getting better at skipping over a lot of these messages.
Just a word of advice: don’t let the kiddies bring you down.
