A relatively short trial for a medical condition with a large unmet need. Would love to know how many sites they are using, it is exciting to finally have this underway.
Ah I see, thanks for the info frrol. Perhaps this will be considered once we uplist. I would hate to see them sell into all the near term positive news events as they cash out and reduce exposure (assuming that is their plan).
I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but do we have any idea whether or not Aruda has enough shares that they need to file anything with the SEC? Also, would it be possible that they would sell their shares in bulk to an institution in a private sale in order to prevent a downward effect on the share price?
Slides aren't moving along with the presentation. Is anyone else experiencing this?
10-Q out. New time frame for commercialization. Just need to wait one more year guys.../s(arcasm):
"with the objective of commercializing our electro-optic polymer technology during 2016"
Also noted the info below but I think we already knew this:
"Repeated, multi-point measurements multi-chromophore system shows approximately twice the electro-optic effect of Lithium Niobate with excellent durability"
Hope they have better things to say during the meeting.
The company has more leaks than a sieve when it comes to good news. I'd be shocked if any positive "news" wasn't already priced in.
The news to me seems to be that waiting on completion of this clean room is the company's new excuse for not having finished the prototypes:
"...achieved operating capability of its in-house Class 100 Clean Room in which it will complete the development of prototype photonic devices enabled by its advanced organic electro-optic polymer material systems."
I wonder how many quarters away those prototypes are...
Hope they prove me wrong on Friday but it's not looking good, IMO. Getting ready to have them blow smoke up my ass again for the umpteenth time and reset the time tables.
Exactly my sentiments as well, Wise. We've been through this before many times over. I'm skeptical of anything they will discuss in the "detailed update" on the 15th because they have pre-emptively classified it as just an "update". I was hoping to see the word "demonstration" somewhere but it seems they intend to distract everyone with the newly completed facility. 9 more days until we find out what's going on..
From the PR yesterday it sounds like we won't have any news until the 15th, AFTER the vote ends. Hate to be cynical (although it is very easy here) but it seems to me like they'll be telling us that there are more delays and they need more time yet again. Anyone take anything different from that?
We are two weeks away from the ASM. I'm sure they just don't want a repeat of what happened last year.
Any idea what the effect on the share price would be if the company says that they plan to use the additional authorized shares to buy a revenue producing company? My guess is that this is what they have in mind.
CTIX still has not "officially" released the B PH2 bottom line results in a PR even though we all snuck a look at the ECCMID poster/presentation that contains the data everyone had been waiting for. I'm wondering if a PR with these results (which I'm assuming will come next week) definitively showing that the 1 day lowest dose of B was as effective as Dapto (and with less side effects) will have a positive effect on the share price. Those who don't read this message board are unlikely to have seen the bottom line data at this point and official data as opposed to management's "word" should mean more and silence critics IMO.
How many shares does Aruda now control? Would they be considered a 5% owner or more?
Finally!!!! I've been waiting for a reverse split coupled with an uplisting announcement for a long time here. This will finally allow them to get the respectable financing and institutional backing they need to be successful and move forward through trials at a quicker pace.
Scientists mark 'watershed' breakthrough in synthetic spider silk production
Tick tock...
http://phys.org/news/2015-04-scientists-watershed-breakthrough-synthetic-spider.html
Anything in the 10-K worth reading? I did a run through but didn't notice anything. It's been quite a dryspell for investor communications lately
Well I hope you are right on this one, I would love to see the data sooner than later!
I have to wonder if that data won't be embargoed until the ASCO presentation as it is usually required if I'm not mistaken.
Just a PR to confirm they need more time - see below for "new-ish" info:
"We anticipate having reportable device data by the Annual Shareholder Meeting in May." (let's hope they are being conservative here)
"results at 110C surpass the published results of any known electro-optical polymer at that temperature, but more importantly, they exceed the harsh demands of the commercial operating datacom/telecom environment that requires photonic devices to operate consistently at 85C. The ability to operate at temperatures above 85C opens up an array of additional applications that at least one of the Company's potential partners for joint development opportunities has identified during discussions. "
Possibly 6 more weeks until we have a device, don't think anyone here is shocked by another delay. Glad they felt enough pressure to notify us.
I think we'll definitely get something before the meeting as well (and hope it is prior to 4/1), but I take any of their time frames with a grain of salt the size of Everest these days. It would not shock me to see them miss another highly anticipated deadline.
At this point it wouldn't surprise me if they missed another self-imposed deadline and we didn't get anything until April or early May
Just an assumption on my part, not getting it from anywhere. Take that out of the equation if you prefer. Like I said initially, just looking for some perspective on the potential near term events.
Looking to get some perspective from folks here:
Assuming that Lightwave has produced commercially viable modulators (that they will demo and provide 3rd party verified specs for) and that the Annual Meeting date was moved up to May 15 in order to take a vote on increasing the share count, what are everyone's thoughts on LWLG issuing more shares so they can acquire a company that has manufacturing capabilities and customers that they can then sell to??? Also, what is the likely impact on share price if that really is their plan (as dilution generally devalues shares)? Assuming our share price does rise back to our recent highs before May 15, are we looking at a reversal back down after announcement of such a long term plan to go it alone? Is acquiring another company with customers possibly part of a strategy to give us more strength in buyout negotiations.
Do you have a link? Or name of the newsletter?
Given the share price movement it seems we are due for some news. Any wagers on whether we'll get it this week or next?
Are there any technical problems that they need to solve before they can commercialize? For example, scaling up production of their technology, reducing manufacturing costs?
Any idea what the market size is for this type of technology?
OT: Breakthrough in nonlinear optics research
"...This nonlinear scattering process can cause signal distortions in fibre communications and signal processing applications and is well known to limit the capacity of optical fiber communications networks....
...To address this, the researchers introduced a grating structure on to the chip. The grating, which comprises a small modulation in the optical material properties, forms a bandgap for light, which strongly effects the propagation of light, in the same way that semiconductors control the flow of electrons. When the laser wavelength is tuned close to the edge of the bandgap, the speed of light is reduced. This will greatly enhance the optical nonlinearity. At a slightly different frequency, the bandgap will completely inhibit (or suppress) the optical nonlinearity. The grating can be tuned so that the optical nonlinearity can be turned on and off on-demand."
http://phys.org/news/2015-03-breakthrough-nonlinear-optics.html
At this point I'd rather they BE acquired than do the acquiring...We have a fairly old management team, can't imagine they want to be in this for the long haul
Not sure, I think it's something to that effect but I don't have the technical knowledge to say definitively one way the other.
OT: Black phosphorus is new 'wonder material' for improving optical communication
http://phys.org/news/2015-03-black-phosphorus-material-optical.html
".....While graphene has proven useful for a wide variety of applications, its main limitation is its lack of a band gap. This means that graphene always conducts a significant amount of electricity, and this "leakage" makes graphene devices inefficient. In essence, the device is "on" and leaking electricity all the time.
Black phosphorus, on the other hand, has a widely-tunable band gap that varies depending on how many layers are stacked together. This means that black phosphorus can be tuned to absorb light in the visible range but also in the infrared. This large degree of tunability makes black phosphorus a unique material that can be used for a wide range of applications—from chemical sensing to optical communication.
Additionally, black phosphorus is a so-called "direct-band" semiconductor, meaning it has the potential to efficiently convert electrical signals back into light. Combined with its high performance photodetection abilities, black phosphorus could also be used to generate light in an optical circuit, making it a one-stop solution for on-chip optical communication.
"It is really exciting to think of a single material that can be used to send and receive data optically and is not limited to a specific substrate or wavelength," Youngblood said. "This could have huge potential for high-speed communication between CPU cores which is a bottleneck in computing industry right now....."
Tick tock....
4 weeks to go before we are overdue for news. Here's hoping that March brings us more than just spring...
Also big time OT but since you mentioned West Ham beware their stadium food. Visited a friend in London in 2006 and got tickets to see the West Ham v Bolton match at West Ham's stadium. While 2 of us were on a strictly beer diet that night, one of our friends decided to get a sausage at the concession stand, resulting in 3 straight days of him being curled up next to the toilet due to food poisoning.
How much cash they have left and when they expect to run out is the only thing I really care to read in the 10-K. The only other thing that matters right now is the testing results which will likely come from a PR, hopefully in the next few weeks.
Last PR was on 1/12, nearly a month ago. Can't imagine it takes more than 1.5 months to coat and test their prototypes. Hoping we will finally see positive results by the end of this short month.
Ah, I see it now. Used to seeing it at the end in bold letters. Still underhanded garbage none the less.
So in the PR today are they saying that they still need to to more animal tox testing before human?
I thought they had started the Tox studies already that would allow them to start Phase 1 human studies. Apparently that is not the case?
Not an investor here but watching to see how they progress. Seems like they are still quite a ways from human studies.
Maybe I missed it but from what I read, nowhere in the article does the author state whether he owns a position in CTIX, be it short or long. Conflict of interest here wouldn't be surprising.
I know the Manager of Clinical Operations for an unrelated biotech company. I asked them about this request to put together a presentation and they mentioned that one of the purposes of the publication/presentation is also to promote/enhance recruitment and disseminate information to doctors in order to make them aware of the drug/trials. The foresight to put this together could help the speed of our patient recruitment efforts for the Phase 2 studies due to start later this year as the word gets around.
Nothing new from what I can tell. Maybe they are gearing up for a roadshow once they have the prototypes in hand. Regardless, thanks for the update.
