Mothers are tough - Yes we are.
What I'm hearing is mothers want to protect their children from seeing the gruesome damage an assault rifle does to the human body. But if we do that we also protect those who make, peddle these weapons, and the pols who get paid $$$ to help.

I presume children see the same horrible images from the war in Ukraine, including children crying for their mothers that we all see.

they would not only have nightmares and other trauma, but they would be afraid to go to school, and who could blame them - As the article states, parents would have to give their permission...It's the responsibility of parents to protect their children from seeing images if their child would have nightmares, but you can bet kids hear on the school bus just how horrific this massacre was.
By hiding the damage caused by assault weapons we protect the mfgrs, those who sell them, organizations that promote them, and pols who won't speak out and try to blame the massacre on school doors.

I would be inclined to give permission - words alone cannot convey the damage an assault weapon does to a small child.

After one of the military-style rifles used in the Texas elementary shootings on Tuesday, the manufacturer Daniel Defense published a pop-up statement on its home page sending "thoughts and prayers" to the community of Uvalde, Texas, and promising to cooperate with the authorities.

When the pop-up disappeared, a different message took center stage: a promotion, adorned in gold-encased bullets, for a sweepstakes to win $15,000 worth of guns or ammunition.

On Thursday, it removed the $15,000.00 guns-and-ammo sweepstakes from its home page.

The company's founder and chief executive, Marty Daniel, has fashioned himself as a provocateur who ridicules gun control laws and uses publicity stunts to drum up sales.

Daniel Defense's strategy seems to be effective. Its sales have soared in part because of its targeting of young customers like Salvador Ramos, the gunman in Texas who appears to have bought his assault rifle direct from Daniel Defense, less than a week after turning 18.

Yes, Beto O'Rourke demanded TX Gov Abbott refuse to attend the NRA convention in Houston this weekend and tell the NRA to hold their event anyplace but in TX...Abbott was obviously taken by surprise, and I'm glad the cameras did not stop rolling.
