“You have to look at your holding periods for ROTH based on age and time you held the monies in the ROTH for proper Federal tax.“
As long as the Roth account holder is older than 59 1/2 and as long as the account has been open for five years minimum I’m not aware of any circumstance that would make a withdrawal taxable. Do you disagree with that?
Regular IRA contributions are always pre-tax but will be subject to tax on net amount withdrawn at each withdrawal. Roth IRA contributions are always after tax and will not be taxable, including any gains or losses, at withdrawal.
Why do all these reports continue to treat omega-3 as a single substance? Their conclusions are always logically flawed. You cannot say there was no benefit in the omega-3 group and be accurate. You must say there was no benefit with 1 g of omega-3 of the following composition: nnn mg EPA, nnn mg DHA, ….
77 by January expiration would be an acceptable stop over.
Burbank across the street from Warner Bros.
Just checked the score you have a nailbiter going
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley when Koufax and Drysdale were playing for the Dodgers. But now I live in Warriors country.
GSW 1-0. OKC 0-1
Just to be clear, AMRN is by far my largest position ARNA and MNKD, my second and third largest, were mentioned in the context that gains in those symbols sandwiched my AMRN loss in the bad old days. AMRN never left my watchlist and it finally got me interested enough to get back in bigger than before, so I definitely partook of the rise from $3 to where we are?
I’d be willing to bet the guys coming out of school now wouldn’t know a table from a bagel. I don’t have a problem with using an app to get your answers but I think people are missing an understanding of the fundamentals. Grammar school kids know how to use a calculator but don’t know arithmetic. Later they enter the workforce with no sense of where the numbers should be or when the numbers they are looking at must be wrong.
My trading mentor had berated me enough times for holding onto losers that it sank in. Let your winners run; take your losses and move on without that distraction. Selling AMRN even at a terrible loss allowed me to put more money into MNKD which several months later made me enough profit to salve my AMRN wound and much more. At the same time I was still enjoying the glow of having sold ARNA soon after its approval. I have since built up stronger positions in both of those issues, ARNA now very green and MNKD still somewhat red but getting riper by the day.
What you said.
Selling shares held now will generate a tax liability for 2018, larger or smaller depending on whether they are long-term or short-term capital gains. Exercising calls which expire post AHA will reset the purchase clock.
Groaning , and then selling my eight dollar shares for $1.69. Yeah. Didn’t buy back in until 2016/2017 at around three dollars.
Rolling out and up reminds me of my real estate broker's play in ARNA. He was up 100k on calls following approval and rolled it all into higher strikes down the road. Needless to say his longshot expired worthless. Moderation suggests taking some profit and rolling with the rest if so inclined.
"I always consider exercising the options as a possibility. In such case, buying a more expensive option makes the share purchase cheaper..."
Right. I'm holding Jan $7's and will decide at expiration to exercise or take profit. Bought half months before results came out when that was the highest strike available. Bought the other half on 9-25 at effective sp of $12.75. Not expecting to sell long-held shares any time soon, but that depends on what happens over coming months.
The OV concentrated omega-3 is not the product that many on this board take. They take the OmegaVia EPA500 product from that company, which is much closer to Vascepa in composition.
The reason I asked, and might choose to just buy a share from Citi and ask for a cert, if it is possible:
Certificate Withdrawal TD Ameritrade
Certificate Withdrawal2 $500
Any other fees charged by DTCC are passed along to you.
Did you buy one share from Citi, and ask for a cert? What did they charge for the cert if I may ask?
Oh btw, congrats indeed!
Expanding on my earlier post 149304 describing my donut hole co-pay of $42.12, the website told me I would be paying 5% of the drug cost.
Just checked my Part D plan at Caremark Silverscript and it would cost me $42.12 for a 3-mo supply (360 x 1g). That might be only while I'm in the donut hole. I doubt that my lipids would support a script, but I've been taking OV500 for about a year and latest lipid panel is pending at Quest.
It seems to me that all these omega-3 trials were designed to fail. Was there really no thought given to the dosage or the mix? The conclusions drawn seem to be an attempt to preempt R-I, going beyond the scope of the trial to make general statements like omega-3 showed no benefit. That is not consistent with the empirical method but is consistent with an attempt to undermine the tsunami that R-i would become.
Well, I hope you get a financial reward from NWBO, but you should not think that by owning that stock you have helped cancer research. It’s more like you’ve helped a market maker or trader to make a profit.
ferretmoney doesn't have an email address, so please, if you can be so kind, forward that spreadsheet to my only other alias, zombietom3@yahoo.com, a mailbox I let yahoo use for all the spam they want to allow, while my real email address is not exposed. I will look for your message and save it from getting spamicided. Thank you.
“Ardent supporter”, in communications shared with or available to you. “Biggest PITA“ would be the label on the file cabinet”
BB rocks!
Thank you. My wife never asks about our investments but just thinks I’m very cheap. I suspect that my daughter thinks the modest amount of money she asked me to invest for her, and the part of the cash wedding gift she asked me to keep for her, are stagnant at best. At first I used to allocate certain trades as hers and the rest as mine. After a while that was too much trouble, so I just figure she owns a piece of my trading account. Neither one of them knows about AMRN yet, and won’t until the cash is in the bank. They night begin to wonder though (LOL) why I’m smiling so much and how I’m paying for Improvements etc (getting senile, spending money too freely) ?
Having a family is the best thing I ever did, my finest achievement. I I believe helping them is selfish.
1. Retire modestly.
2. Pump up grandson’s college fund.
3. Help son-in-law open café.
VPNs with proxy servers work on some websites but not all. I used a VPN when I was in China earlier this year and couldn’t log into my bank. Used Express VPN. “Proxy server blocked”
Ralphy, is that you? Feeling too embarrassed to come back under your old handle, huh?
Since the puts are a $15 strike and the premium is $3 you could set a stop at $12 for the same amount of protection without expiration. However, a trailing stop is probably a better idea if you want that protection. There is one caution of course. If there is a catastrophic break down of the price a stop loss will do no good where a put will guarantee a bottom.
On that note I'm going to ask my brother whose bday is Nov 5th to change it to Nov 10th.
Unfortunately my Friday before zoom zoom trades were disciplined closures of trading positions according to rules I had set for those trades. Never touched my core shares or the Jan $7 long calls, so zoom zoom Monday morning was sweet but not as sweet as it might have been.
I remembered the times I kept all positions open going into a binary, only to rue the greed. So I never fault myself or anyone else for taking something off the table while the risk is high.
Now imo we are largely de-risked and there is every reason to stay the course.
Py should be the designated dunkee. He can forage in the dumpsters for snacks between splashdowns.
Along with several other positions I had invested similar dollar amounts in AMRN and ARNA, and NEVER expected AMRN to be the big winner of the pair. I thought it would be a second or third place horse with ARNA taking home the roses, the trophy and the oversize check.
You are out of order. Small minds attack ideas they don't understand or agree with, along with the messengers.
Speech to text: simmer s/b similar. The account btw is at TDA.
Agree! I once got a simmer 30 day restriction for selling an unsettled purchase in my Roth. But I have sold settled purchases and used the cash the same day many times in that account.
Sts, thanks for the reply and it confirms my suspicion from comment made by the hr (hypothetical relative). The aforementioned hr, describing his cardiologist as of the invasive persuasion, might have said that his card might be considering coterizing the misfiring nerves if the afibs got more serious.
Right! If the sale is of stock whose purchase has already settled then the cash can be spent immediately after the sale.
The hypothetical relative says:
Beta blocker for blood pressure control. The blood thinner ito reduce risk of stroke from the afibs.
Medical question: Is there any connection between afib and systemic inflammation? Iow is Vascepa contra-indicated for someone with good lipid control but taking a statin, a beta blocker and a blood thinner. No opinion will be considered medical advice but I'm wondering about the underlying science behind afib which currently leads to the treatment regimen indicated above. The hypothetical person referred to might be a non-blood relative who is retired, eats a healthy diet and exercises regularly, and runs the risk of bleeding to death.
