we were discussing chev's buyback idea. don't freak out. it was just a passing thought. i just got finished saying how much calmer we all are during these boring times, and you have to throw an OMG up? thanks. it's not like values would change. but obviously some folks wouldn't like it, judging from your post.
i agree ou2.
well, one thing's for sure. as long as we are trading in this range, it is only natural for people to post their thoughts, out of sheer boredom if for no other reason. everyone is entitled to do so, and even if we don't like to hear certain things, we have a healthy board here, which is a good thing. it seems like we all are becoming rather used to these trading patterns, and the level of anxiety seems to decrease each time, and that's a good, healthy thing too. chin up;)
interesting idea there chev. i wonder how the market would react. since you're thinking along those lines, what do you think about reverse-splits? how do you think the market would react to something like that?
great stuff joe!!!!
thanks for that doog.
deep sea drillers on ngeo channel
that Moray looks like a Praying Mantis.
excellent stuff 4mars. lots of stuff relevant to us. even a mention of nautilus deepsea polymetal mining, which i mentioned here a couple months ago. belated mark from me, too.
welcome;)
To me, one of the big things Mako brings to the DDI table is their Perry/Seaeye connection. I have to believe DDI's LARS manufacuring is going to gain a tremendous advantage over other competitors in the LARS/ROV market by having Perry so close. I could easily see DDI LARS becoming standard with Perry/Seaeye ROVs. And if those two pieces became standardized together, why stop there? After all, we also have EW. Why couldn't EW design a standard control room (manufactured by DDI), tying the 3 main pieces of a LARS/ROV together under our roof (and name) into a standardized industry product. Not taking a thing away from their bread and butter custom work they do for all their clients, it still seems like DDI now has the capability of not only building the lars to go with a rov, it can build a lars with the rov on site in the yard to make it a better all around product, and EW could supply the brains for each unit. When you look at their acquisiton strategy, you almost have to believe they had this, or something similar in mind.
can't we just call it the "money wheel." lol. mark from me too sage.
nice chart and work, chev. thanks for that.
Joe, you are correct in that Mako does rent winches and that kind of equipment, as we can see in the yard pic. Also, I need to correct my earlier post in which I referenced Ocean International. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction on that. I certainly don't want to cause any undue confusion. It was Offshore Innovative Solutions (the other OIS !) involved in the search. Kudos to them.
a few other Mako pics: . . . we've seen all of these before.
Mako yard shot from 10/07. This is along the back (eastern) fenceline:
Last things first: here's a Houston news station link to their report that provides a bit more background behind the search and the searchers. I think Equusearch and Ocean International (?) are the major players if I remember correctly. The video link to the right is a news report and interview of Tim Miller (I think) explaining some things. From looking around the internet, it is obvious that there are strong feelings on all sides of this issue. Hopefully there will be some closure, one way or another.

I don't know whether those are Mako winches, though it is quite possible. My trip was really just confined to the main office building, and a few steps outside the back door into the yard just to look at the LARS/ROV and its control room. JM did tell me that alot of their inventory was out working, which is better than having a yard full of equipment. I did not even get close to the other buildings, and I have no idea what's inside them. They have a lot of room, both outside and under roof, and I would venture to guess that a good bit of it is used for storage, both for their own equipment and for client storage. I did see a good number of diving air compressors, and a few other medium sized pieces of equipment. But they were pretty far from where I was standing. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help. Maybe they'll give me another tour again soon. If they do, I'll report.
MK
P.S. The interior of the main office building was pretty nice. Lots of offices and office space, and it looked like it had been relatively recently renovated. And there were already cameras installed everywhere, just like at DDI. It would not surpise me if they are linked up to Channelview.

I. Mobilization
The final and most elaborate search for Natalee Holloway has begun. This is likely the most complicated post-mortem search of its kind in history. This case has had many twists and turns during it's 2+ year history. This is one of the final chapters that will hopefully provide closure both to the Holloway family and to the watching world. I've described this search to reporters and friends as a search for a needle in a field of hay stacks while hovering hundreds of feet above the field. However, we have the best needle-detecting equipment and detectors on the planet. The attitude on board the boat is unanimous and unwavering. We know that if God wants her body found, the chances of success are perfect.
To put this all in perspective...
-We will be searching waters as deep as 6 times the height of the Statue of Liberty, or almost as high as the Empire State Building.
-The equipment is towed behind the boat near the seafloor almost 1-mile behind the boat, or over 16 football fields away.
-There are swift currents, rough seafloor topography, and unknown terrain.
-We are looking for a target the size of a shopping cart within the area of Manhattan.
The target is a ~1m x 1m fish/crab trap. A search of this size and complexity, utilizing some of the best equipment and personnel in the world would typically cost around $80K per day, or well over $1 Million. However, due to some deep-pocketed private benefactors and mass-charitable collaboration among multiple equipment lease and marine survey companies, this project is being conducted... without charge. Neither the US or Dutch government is paying for it. A lot must happen before the ocean search occurs.
The mobilization has gone smoothly so far. All equipment is on board the R/V Persistence. The equipment consists of the following:
-Side scan sonar (Edgetech FS4200)
-SeaEye ROV, or remotely operated vehicle
- Sonardyne USBL (Ultra-Short Base-Line) system providing acoustic tracking of the side scan sonar and ROV
-Navigation provided by WinFrog software
- The vessel positioning is provided by multiple Trimble GPS receivers giving us about 1m accuracy.
-Communications (Phone, data transmit, and Internet) are performed by an Agiosat Global Communications Marine Tracking System.
We will leave the dock at Midnight on 27-November, 2007 to perform a "wet-test" on all the gear. This test will take approximately 2 days, where we will calibrate and test all the equipment under real survey conditions. After all testing is complete, we will go back to the dock to drop off all survey personnel, and the R/V Persistence will begin its long journey to Aruba. The journey (approx. 1700 miles) will take around 10 days including fuel stops in Mexico and perhaps Grand Cayman.

rez, volume appears to be rising, slowly but steady;)
indeed.
thanks for the charts, guys.
THAT is bullish. Hadn't seen that before. The thunder is definitely beginning to roll. I really don't think the market is factoring in the military angle to all of this at all. Which is fine for now, as I really don't want an overheating whipsaw for no reason again. But we are way undervalued imo here, when looking forward. Way. I'm kicking myself in the arse for not saving some powder for now.
nice one, sage
Just to recap, for those who didn't see this yesterday in all the new PR excitement, one of Mako's ROVs is being used in the search for Natalee Holloway off Aruba. Godspeed.
check this out too. sea trial prep in the GOM prior to Aruba. unbelievable. they basically are searching for a crab trap in the ocean, at who knows what depth.

This is some riveting stuff. I, for one, am very proud that our company is involved in this. Again, I wish them all the best.

nice to see Mako on this supplier site:

what, no TA when things are going good? it would be nice to hear some positive chart news too. anybody? tech? chev? anybody?
and we might uplist by then . . . who knows?
those are some really good cam shots.
very nice stuff brikk!!!!
we may have to sychronize our watches and go underground . . . to the unbreakable PM code. . .in order to carry out Operation 113. we may send decoys up from time to time, depending upon the defense, to declare falsely that we are out of shares, only to hit them hard when they try to close ranks. chipmunk to grey squirrel, come in grey squirrel. over.
lol.
first thing we do, we break our ordnance into 113 shells, to be fired in volleys at very thin ask. lol.
one day soon i hope to see us all at a DDI stockholder party!
count me in for $1800 then, or at least whatever I can get my wife to let me play with;)
our mission, if we choose to accept it, it to strategically buy this stock back to $2. (in my best Flounder voice) Who's With Me!? Otter, you with me right? lol.
what a great board. if i ever started up a penny stock, i'd be grateful as hell if i had you guys in my corner, like DDI has us in theirs! very comforting.
count me in bro. let's coordinate on it. one assault wave after another at a time they look particularly thin. count me the f@#* in. see you again on this when they cut the checks around may. we might have to start some SHM (shareholder manipulations) if we get a group of us together large enough. we may have to figure out a way to shuck and jive the flipper hangers on, who will have wind of our plan. mmmmuuuuuhhhhhaaaaaa, mmmuuuuhhhhhaaaahahhahhahahah.
I think it says alot about DDI that people with resumes like Teal's join us. Teal doesn't seem to have a track record of picking losers. Neither does Butler, for that matter. No rational person would consider Boucher or Smith underachievers.
I want the PPS to go up, but I'd just as soon have it not jump around too much. I'd just as soon see the flippers get discouraged and get out, because those are the same a-holes that will sell into a rally and kill the momo for a frickin dime. And those are the only people who really whine around here. And they are the ones who try to breed fear and uncertainty anytime they can't make their nickel on the day.
This board has done an outstanding amount of DD on this company. We've all contributed by questioning everything, and we've probed this company all over. The worst thing that can be said about it is that former stakeholders are monetizing their stakes in order to move on with their lives and careers because most likely they are not allowed to stay here. And even then, it's looking likely that "institutional investors" (dare I say it), may be stepping in to absorb any such dumping. How many penny stocks can you even think that about?
We've got tons of proof of positives with this company. I don't mind the negatives if they have a real basis. I'm not asking anyone to prove a negative, all I'm saying is that too many times accusations are floated when the company's track record on similar issues has been pristine. Nothing should be ignored, but DDI has begun to deserve the benefit of some doubts instead of being presumed shady. Sorry, but in my view, by now, such posters stand to have their motives questioned, ignored, and/or told to piss off.
note to Mr. Teal, please get us out of this pigpen asap;)
The following info is a bullish little piece of news regarding our company, showing a different substantive view, as well as diversification that is not oilfield related. The following video shows a Seaeye Falcon ROV contracted as part of the recovery search for Natalie Holloway off Aruba. That ROV belongs to our very own Mako. I wish them the best of luck and success in this endeavor.
