I concur. Uoip for the win!
So as a manager, do you have any idea if he has the authority to get UOIP reinstated upon a win? Or do we just keep suing other infringers as a private entity.
Pctl...What happened over there? It was doing so well. I'm working on more WDDD. Cmon cheapies.
If those "fruitful discussions" get any riper they'll rot off the tree. They've had ample time to come to some sort of agreement by now.
I'm not certain what this conference accomplishes. Is it to talk settlement? Is a request for a trial date baked in to this if nothing is accomplished? or does Worlds then have to request a trial date, which will then take even more time? Atvi seems to be in a pickle since the ptab ruling which gave Worlds all claims back. One part of me wants payback/trial for the Bungie trick that back fired on them (treble damages sounds sooo nice). The other part says settle and move on to other infringers. Anyone know what is taking so long to schedule this thing? Every little delay or extension that gets granted always plays out to the max.
Most here realize that Thom used MRMD proceeds to fund the lawsuit. I think You're are beating a dead horse by continuing to bring up valuation. With the recent win at the ptab and the anticipation of a court date/possible settlement just around the corner, I believe that is what is propping Worlds stock price up. Marijuana stocks continue to fall from grace just like the Dotcoms did. Only a lucky few survived.
Does each case have to finalize (appeals and all) before the next one gets scheduled? If so, I don't think I'll live that long. Haha! Separate trials drags things out, which in turn, gives Comm a chance to rebuild its war chest and pay each loss over an extended period of time. avoiding bankruptcy.
I believe you might be thinking of uoip for that 5 million
I agree. so many possibilities for manipulation. With a win, why not stay private, sue other infringers and just receive royalty dividends until the patents expire?
Thanks, I gotta stop reading things so fast.
I'm wondering why Worlds wasn't the first one to file this conference since getting all claims reinstated.
Is there something going on that is keeping them from setting a date for District court with Judge Casper?
Googles new system is Stadia and charges roughly $10 a month for 4k game streaming. It was launched in Nov 2019. It makes sense that Google solicited ATVI to get their games on this service and probably has nothing to do with the lawsuit.
It's looking like Google is on a mission to entice game makers to use their new platform. Maybe they could buy Worlds and give the game makers a deal if they agree to use their platform. Just thinking out loud.
Just found this little tidbit. https://www.businessinsider.com/google-gaming-project-stream-2019-2
The courts were thorough. Lets hope the only thing that they were to appeal is the size of the 4 Billion dollar judgement.
A buyout sounds nice, but cash, plus stock and/or future royalties, also settlements from other infringers and possible future business ventures would be even better. Maybe even a bidding war. I can dream, can't I?
The Cafc knew what the proper ruling should have been all along when they sent it back to the Ptab for the estoppel and time bar issues. They should have taken care of it themselves.(no cojones) Activision/Bungie should have been in the rear view mirror a long time ago and I hope you are right about Google not putting a dog in this fight. We don't need this thing to drag on for another 10 years.
I agree, This case is not like VRNG. A while back, there was talk about Casper possibly extending the life of the patents. Not sure if that pertains to this case though. If it does, then Google may be on the hook for future royalties for the products they co produce with ATVI in the event of a win.
Anyone hear anything about a possible court date for us against Activision?
The defeat of Activision at the Ptab took a long time. Off to court we go. You're right. The only thing that can stop us now is corruption. Good luck to all longs.
It's in Caspers hands now. She's treated us fair from the start.
Yes, it is a new wrinkle, but how can google insert itself into this lawsuit? On what grounds?
If Worlds wins against Activision then Google is also on the hook. I'm not sure how they could separate themselves if they are using Thom's tech with Activision.
My bad, you're right. Such a long time ago. Do you see Casper doing something like that?
I remember Google using the obviousness defense against VRNG. I don't see how that could possibly work here. But I won't put it past them to try every trick in the book.
Activision partnering with Google. Makes me want shares of ATVI as part of any settlement. Thanks for the link IBB.
When it does, welcome aboard.
I imagine that you grabbed some since you’re still hanging out here.
Did ya check out the latest news on the Worlds vs Activision lawsuit? Things are getting heated.
Thanks Kid.
I'm not sure if Kidtrader was serious or joking about the timeline for the start of trial. it seems like a long time to wait. A link or article would be nice.
2 years from now. Why so soon?
I definitely overlooked the part where only the 690 would be used. Thanks for clearing up my confusion. I was thinking more on the lines that these patents worked in conjunction with one another. Looking forward to our day in court.
Last I remember was the cafc making all claims valid but remanding for CE. I hope you are right about Worlds using specific claims that survived the ptab on the first challenge. We could use a little good news. Thanks IBB.
What ammunition does worlds have against Linden? Technically, they have all claims back, but they may tell the court that Worlds has unfinished business against Activision/Bungie and ask for a stay until that is resolved. Just my opinion.
I like to go to the very bottom of the articles and read the comments. The very first person to comment is also what I believe to be the remedy to all who were wronged by the ptab and it's screwed up IPR process(including panel stacking for favorable outcomes for infringers).
It also seems like the longest and most painful road as it could log jam the system with past cases coming back to life. It makes me wonder, what would I be invested in right now if Whitey Bulger hadn't slowed Worlds down? So much has happened during this wait. Either way, I'm here for the long haul and believe we have green pastures ahead.
I don't know if Athrex would agree on any kind of "fix" unless it were to go their way. Otherwise I still see them going to the cafc and then maybe to the supreme court. In my opinion, we are at a standstill until something happens over there.
Thanks for the article. I hope the en blanc hearing at the cafc happens fast. what is your opinion on an appeal forcing this to the Supreme court?
I see what you mean by holding up all cases. That seems a logical conclusion. Has that been confirmed? Are cases still whipping thru the system? I haven’t checked lately. And if they are, why? since the Judges have been deemed unconstitutional It would be expected for everything to come to a screeching halt until they get it straightened out. Right?
