I agree 100% ... that would be the way to go. If we get approval then I think its inevitable that a tobacco company hoovers that division up at a premium. Also having a new CEO may open the dialogue that may have previously been closed under Henry

Hi Brooklyn, yes I have also seen that many many times but in most cases that sell off on the news is preceded by a strong run into it. In this case we have not had that.
Like you, I have been in and out of this name for so long. Ironically this stock is like an addiction - something that it is intended to remove!
Hope we get rewarded one day.

Hi Brooklyn, sorry to hear you unwinding after all this time. I hear your concerns but despite your misgivings about management, I would hate to see you leave just as we have the potential to be bought out.
I hear a lot of complaints about management on this site and others ... but do we actually know for sure what is going on behind the scenes? Do we know for sure that they are incompetent? They seem to have enough skin in the game to be properly incentivised to perform. We say they should have done this and that but again we don't actually know what has been attempted and what has not. Their focus has been on the MRTP submission and they has had to be comprehensive ... maybe their strategy is to wait for that approval and leverage that into a buyout or expansion into Asia. Maybe they need the product to take off in the US first in order for it gain traction abroad?
I am just speculating of course but my point is that I cant say with hand on heart that the management is incompetent.
As for Altria acquiring Juul ... I think the way we consume nicotine and others in the future will be in this more efficient manner. It doesn't mean that VLN cant still be supplied to the users of this product. Altria is not betting on Juul at the expense of XXII ... if MRTP is granted to XXII this will be so ripe for a buyout as Henry as made clear in his post-earnings dial ins. Thats the game plan and I dont think its a bad one.

Massively in the shop window for anyone who wants it. Relative buyout price still a drop in the ocean for a tobacco company ... even if its just for PR.
A big T co cannot make this acquisition right now as it wouldn't look good in terms of their strategy. But if MRTP was granted to XXII ... it would make perfect sense to add this to their bow as an indication that they acknowledge the trend and are co-operating.
This is all just my opinion of course and I totally respect your opinion and judgement as I always have.

Great post jtsmgoblue ... thats exactly how i see it ... including current price shakedown .. its managed. Buyout is the best way forward and its clear that is what Henry has been positioning for.

Thats a good post. i think nothing is set in stone otherwise xxii would be up more. That said, I think its a reasonable risk/reward to hold this stock until at least MRTP submission which appears imminent. I think that would lead to a buy out of some kind or some kind of liscencing agreement.
I cant speculate on the future share price as with all stocks there are too many variables that we are not able to quantify.

Esad, i don't agree with your politics and especially not with your gun views but i agree with your read on this stock and govt plans to put an end to nicotine addiction. While they are dragging their feet a bit, I think the market will be surprised by how quickly they ramp up this initiative.
On another note though ... that 600k shs purchase by Blackrock is an odd lot for them ... so wouldn't read anything into that at all.

Unlikely, but nevertheless bullish as it is clearly institutional buying. Retail doesn’t do large buy on close orders. This may also scare some short sellers out of their positions.

Latest hit piece is probably the weakest i have seen yet on this stock and there have been many over the years. All unsubstantiated and each time the stock has bounced back hard. Its embarrassing that stuff like that gets published in this day and age.

Thats true to an extent Brooklyn although Sendme has been on the money with his technical analysis over the years.
I sometimes trade but mostly hold ... i look at technicals but mostly fundamentals although there is definitely a lot of merit to technical trading.
Along with a couple of others, I think you and I have been in this one longer than most. We have already shown incredible patience ... hope we get rewarded sometime although I am not in a massive hurry.
Broken a cardinal investing rule and that is never, ever fall in love with a stock ... guilty on that charge.

Thanks for your analysis. I would have made a ton of money if i had listened to you in the past and traded this stock within the ranges. Just a bit scared to do that right now with regulation potentially dropping at any time and or a buyout. Would break my heart to be caught offside after holding for so long.
