think about when the grid goes down and the water runs out in Mead and Powell, you can't eat or drink your gold and yet you will be a target for theft after bragging that you have it.
well i give up - what does wags mean?
Lakers, your posts are interesting and informative, but I am getting worn out from this company. Where is the performance? Moderna was featured on CBS sunday about how they are now going into cancer research with their mRNA research. If I heard one thing from Dr. Broderick I would ask: does DNA vaccine work? She must know by now. Just tell the truth about it. If it works why is this not going somewhere? at this point, I just want to know some truth.
management threw away their opportunity with this company when they decided to buy back shares. Still losing money and they try to act like a big success with extra cash to buy back? Who does that benefit?
J and J and Astrazeneca used old technology to quickly bring emergency use products to market. In the past there was much more risk tolerated, and probably unknown by the public, such as the bad batch of polio vaccine but the public still wanted to be treated compared to risking the disease. Now that mRNA has proved to be so effective in hundreds of millions of doses with no bad outcomes, the public and the agencies will be much more interested in using new technology even though they were used without full approval but just EUA. Due to the benefits of DNA vaccine candidates that are more stable, there should soon be serious consideration to support for this new strategy. Adenovirus vaccine will be obsolete once a DNA vaccine gets EUA so that millions of doses can be rolled out.
Lakers, Is there any way for you to confirm for the board that indeed a vaccine is in phase 2 testing? At the top of this board is a post stating that there is no vaccine. It has been up there for over a year. Does INO in fact have a vaccine being tested in multiple locations on human subjects?
I would like to hear more from those who have participated in the vaccine trials. Some have posted here in the past. There must be a vaccine if there are people getting dosed with INO vaccine. I recall that one person posted that they might drop out of the trial because they couldn't find out if they got the vaccine or placebo - but that is how the study was designed. Also, there may be some posters who could benefit from the lawsuit against Dr. Kim and would want to make claims against INO. I bet Dr. Kim wishes he had made a different statement, such as " we are using our previous research to develop a DNA based Covid vaccine and we will begin testing soon". I guess the 3-hour thing opened the door to greedy lawyers. Too bad that a promising medical breakthrough has been derailed by such deceptive players. And now Dr. Kim won't say anything at all.
I hope so!
Due to that ownership, I don't see how our votes count for anything. If Kim is in charge it will be up to him to commercialize all the research. He better realize that research alone is not his job in a public company. He will run out of money and ruin the company. They probably should have made a deal with a big pharma that had production capability like Biontech did. I thought the agreements for production and
the DOD would have been enough, but so far it hasn't worked out. But I don't think Kim can go it alone.
do you think INO has given up on the US for vaccine development? It seems to be shut out of US use, and there may be resistance in the future once working with other countries, especially China
Lakers, thanks for posting so much information. Any idea why Cellectra has been held up for so long? In september I thought it would be less than a month. Is there resistance because trials and cooperation is happening with China? Seems like a second gen vaccine is in demand.
RH removed some of the trading restrictions - anyone know if INO is free to trade now?
Just on CNBC - robinhood just restricted buying of INO shares! they only allow one share to be bought.
Citron did enough damage here to INO - possibly prevented it from getting vaccine development funds. so now he says he will not publish short positions - too late for INO that could have been a life-saving vaccine.
Citron is finally paying for their attacks on companies like INO that they trashed so badly in the last years. CNBC called Left a relatively under the radar hedge fund but we have seen what he has done to try to destroy companies.
what do you mean by sandbagged the timeline? Did JK purposely slow the application? Why would he do that?
Why did Gritstone get this attention, and a 300% rise, when INO already does this vaccine research? Why is INo being left behind?
They announced a bunch of new shares for sale. every time a company does this it tanks the stock right after good news comes out. It sets back the credibility of the company and makes it harder for a run up in the future. management really dumped on shareholders
Lakers, do you know if INO vaccine contains PEG? what is the medium that carries the DNA? With all the delays and complications with the other vaccines, I am stunned that INO vaccine is not being fast tracked here in US.
does anyone know if INO vaccine contains PEG? it seems to be used in many other medications. It encapsulates the mRNA in Pfizer's vaccine; don't know if it is in Moderna's.
The cold transport requirement was known way back - probably in March - for Pfizer's, and it was picked over all others and the glass and freezers went into production back then. Maybe OWS believed they could produce the fastest.
INO needs to partner with some entity with more clout. It isn't helping politically to be aligned with
china and s. Korea. too much prejudice against those countries and probably against Dr. KIm.
questions that we probably can't get answered, however, is it true that pfizer's vaccine has PEG? Why is PEG in the vaccine, what function does it have? What medium is used in INO vaccine? The bigger question is why was Pfizer selected - I believe it was chosen as the first one way back before September because the vials and refrigerators were being manufactured already. Is INO just too late to the program as it was in previous development programs for other diseases? Maybe we just bet on the wrong horse.
Is it worth it to even do business in Korea? Why not stay in US even without OWS, or work with Canada or Mexico-anywhere that will cooperate? Overall, when will everybody start to cooperate to fight the virus and not fight each other?!
I am discouraged that INO is getting into lawsuits. No one is going to make contracts with them with clouds over their dealing. How could they have such good science and lose it to legal battles with countries that may not be fair players - but the DOD is not going to put up with it. What will we do if it turns out that Kim and Broderick are wonderful scientists but very bad business people. And then a very good medicine with lots of other potential applications will be plowed under by lawsuits.
Moderna announces results in PR and not a scientific publication or release of data. And, for a company that has never produced a product, they claim to have developed a better product than giant Pfizer. Watch the insiders dump stock as soon as they can. If they can develop a product then INO should also have a good shot at success, but INO doesn't have the connections that MRNA has. DOD funding is good, but they will not be allowed to mount a PR campaign like the first two have done.
Talk about the vaccine being 90 percent effective with only a press release and no data, let alone peer reviewed publication. Already talking about distribution soon, and mass production. If INO ever said such things there would be bashing and law suits. Talk about 90 percent as if it was proven. Also talk of therapies - people I know who are positive have gotten nothing for treatment - just told to go home unless breathing problems. Is this the power of politics? It sure isn't science.
I am surprised that Bourla can say so much that is not backed by peer-reviewed science. It seems he is exaggerating what they know but he gets away with it and Dr. Kim cant say anything without lawsuit threats.
This isn't the best day to have the long-awaited earnings call. I don't know if even the news of FDA removing the hold will help, being overshadowed by Pfizer. And I don't expect anything about the FDA "partial hold" today anyway.
INO has learned that they cant say much about their progress: Pfizer announced todays results as a press release, no peer review. Said they developed the design in a few hours - when Dr. Kim made similar remarks he was hit with law suits and Citron attack. Pfizers statements are not based on researchers findings - just a note about general ideas. They get away with it - INO will have to be much more careful - I guess that is due to Gottlieb not being on their board. We will see if the DNA model is a successful one.
INO is dropping on the Pfizer news, but their results might be good news for the science of vaccine. Don't know if mRNA technology is a good indicator for the DNA model. Dr. Messiorier said early on that the first vaccines may be a bridge to better models and the cold chain requirement will only be needed in the beginning before more durable vaccines become available. That won't help for today, but in the long run it is not practical for the US or the world to require cryo freezers and refrigerated trucks. Time will tell. I hope they have something definite to say tonight in the call.
sadly, those mink must be on a fur farm and would be killed for their fur anyway. the whole animal thing is sad - especially the primates who are being used in INO research, as well as the ferrets who are probably killed to study the viral load in their lungs. maybe some day medical research can be done on human tissue samples without killing anything.
I hope that phase 2/3 will be approved on Monday because the infection rate is only going exponentially
higher - plenty of human volunteers will be signing up and the results will come in fast to compare the rate of placebo vs. treatment.
It is no wonder that Dr. Kim and Dr. Broderick have been so quiet about any development remarks after this legal attack by investment speculators. Only hope that this is addressed in court that proves INO is making and testing a DNA vaccine that has shown promise and is about to advance to phase 2/3. If all we have heard is true, there has been testing, there is a vaccine, there are tests volunteers in the US as well as other countries, there has been money from several sources that are at least part of OWS (even though OWS may have supported less viable candidates).
I bet that Kim loses sleep over an over enthusiastic remark from the earliest part of this pandemic that has haunted INO and delayed the prospect of a more effective, safer vaccine that can be delivered without cold-chain systems.
With the parabolic spike in cases now, we can expect another chance for INO to produce the vaccine that will be the ultimate solution to the pandemic - but it could have been much sooner if a greedy investor had not attacked because of his bad timing. And where does Andrew Left come in for blame? Sometimes capitalism can be a destructive force against nature.
When the infection rate was going down in the US, there was a concern that vaccine could not be tested effectively in phase 3. The phase 1 going on in S. Korea could show safety and reaction in blood tests, but with their low infection rate, that country would not be useful for ph. 3. Now that, unfortunately, the infection rate is spiking in US, it seems that it would be easier to get volunteers and results of ph. 3 that depend on comparing infections in placebo to treatment groups will give results more quickly. So, I expect that if phase 2/3 was announced on Monday, the process could catch up to the other vaccine trials. The benefit of DNA vaccine is so great, I can't imagine it would be overlooked if shown to be effective, regardless of political pressure to favor the other companies.
I looked at my notes from May, and at that time there were 7 candidates on the list. They all got OWS funding except INO. Why, I can't imagine. Healthcare people know that the cold chain vaccines will not be practical for mass vaccination. And yet lots of OWS money went to them for development as well as vials and refrigerators that are in progress even though there is no data on effectiveness. Is it politics only? I can't think that if INO is successful for immunity that the US won't want it - but there could be pushback if it is being tested in South Korea and part of COVAX that has committed to sharing vaccine with other countries. Drs. Kim and Broderick may be freaked out about the attacks on INO from March - even here one of the admins. is on the attack, not to mention Andrew Left and Citron. I just hope for the best on Nov. 9th and the official update. Thanks to Lakers for all the research and information posted here.
I am not telling you to trust them or expect anything - just that you pumped this on 10/21 and now you are complaining. either DNA vaccine works and is superior to all other vaccines - mRNA , adenovirus vector or whatever. Or it's not.
stockman, you were high on INO just a few days ago and now down on it and maybe bringing others down too. we are all taking a risk now - even though the science is here there are other forces we can't control . so weird post came up on google that dna causes cancer -missed the memo that DNA vaccines are in ph 2 and 3 to CUREcancer....they said that because dna goes into the nucleus. do they know where unstable open helix mRNA goes and what it does????? so another site picks it up and posts that DNA VACCINE CAUSES CANCER. the science is here and if it proves out to be the best, effective, lasting, economical and deliverable, then it will overcome the others. money has been poured into -70 trucks, fancy glassware, a few high tech centers that few can get to, just to rush a vaccine with side effects that many will not want. how sick do you want to get for a vaccine that may not work because it has been thawed out too long . "cold chain" you think? and cost -and the freezer truck breaks down, or goes to a few places where we can't go.
you were onboard a few days ago - patience, it will be needed in these trying times. 83000just yesterday and increasing trajectory.
two days ago you posted big news coming, stock up, and today you are trashing it. People get so cranky when they don't get what they want when they want it! don't you think that Dr. Kim and Dr. Broderick and all the folks working on this vaccine want a success - even more than a shareholder?
that prediction would depend on Pfizer's vaccine being safe and effective. There is still room for INO if it proves effective and has benefits for storage and delivery
abc news: 3 billion people could be left out of vaccine for covid because of cold storage requirement for the leading candidates. Why isn't INO getting more attention and funding???
great interview. How do you volunteer to be a test subject. I know they need diversity of subjects at least in ph. 2/3 and I am "elderly" and a scientist by work history.
thanks Lakers for all the research and posting! i am worried about the politics for INO, the fact that it may be a better vaccine on many levels - but so much funding is going into the cold chain vaccines that INO may be a threat. I know that super refrigerators and cold resistant delivery devices (special glass and syringes)are already being produced. If INO is cooperating with other countries, testing in asia, and part of COVAX that will share vaccine with other countries fairly, then might INO be rejected by the current administration that only wants America to benefit? Also the RNA companies have political players on OWS that so far have favored the companies where they have financial investment. You would think that a better vaccine that can be delivered more easily without sub-sub zero temps would be favored, so why does it seem that INO has been left behind so far? Racist against Kim? Sexist against Kate? Bought off by big pharma? If the best vaccine, easiest to produce and handle, came from INO that should be all that matters. will it?
