I got back in at these prices. Didn't think I ever would but I think we can make some quick money here. In and Out quickly for me. I think by middle january.
well we have 7 days before everything is out. And I do have some interesting new DD that i will share with everyone. No ice in forecast!
For the record,
yesterday's official PR didn't have much of a WOW effect so what's the difference if it get's posted early for the few hundred eyeballs here? there's plenty of money to be had right?
noted. but what does the gigolo call it?
indeed. keep that info inside.
I'll be honest, there hasn't been a lot of chirping lately. the Wild Oats news in November was the only thing that I was able to offer up to everyone here. I believe your info comes right form the horses mouth, so you win when it comes to the best birdie. Why don't you give all of us the good stuff you know?
I'm not the guy who asks for PR's to back stuff up. You are confusing me with someone else. All my info comes from little birdies too. And my birdies always seem to be right!
Also, Press releases are mostly fabrications of the truth. When you learn to read them carefully, you can really see where the manipulations are. This goes all PR's not just HH. Break one down sometime and you'll see what I mean.
just saw that. the star of girlfriend. funny.
who valued it at 20 - 25M in 2009?
First, Shirley Maclaine is not a draw. When we find out how much was paid/pledged for the distribution rights, we'll know what this deal is all about. The film is not in production yet so this "pre-buy" could be a way for the filmmakers to raise the money to get the film made. This is a no loose situation for both sides. If the filmmakers raise the money because they secured the almighty "distribution deal", all is great. If they can't get it done, HH has no monetary responsibility and no blame.
Now if they can just get the pesky press release out to the mainstream press and hollywood community, they might see a pop in the stock price.
questions for Wild Oats at shareholders meeting.
what is HH monetary commitment to secure the project?
what is the estimated P&A costs?
They need to go to a PR service that gets to the entertainment trade publications and entertainment blogs. Variety, Reporter, Deadline, etc. Don't forget, lots of financial sites still think TDGI sells real-estate.
Wild Oats
Untitled Animated Action Adventure (aka-Terminator 3000)
Untitled Jim Henson Project
CES Starts Today - http://www.cesweb.org/
I agree. Moebius Strip looks terrible. And it started production 11 years ago.
Maybe they'll hand out the comic books at the shareholders meeting?
the company would also split about 3% of the the production budget as a producer fee.
wild oats much more exciting than T3000.
ok. I'll clarify. 1 or 2 DVD's from 2010's slate out this year plus 1 or 2 more.
this is the more RATIONAL scenario. I really think everyone's getting way ahead of themselves here. I'm just hoping HH can manage to get one or two DVD's and books to the marketplace without missing a deadline in 2011. That would make this a successful year. Anything else would be a bonus.
yes, but who will handle theatrical release?
exactly. so obviously there's no way they'll do 40 or 50M in 2011. So my guess is that 8 to 10 is what they'll strive for. That could be achievable if they have a few good acquisitions.
what revenue would they have to earn to make 10 or 20 million in profits?
where are you getting these projection numbers?
don't assume. the biggest thing they did this year is become subcontractors.
I need to see them build their own house.
I do agree that they have learned to keep quiet. I just hope they don't fall off the wagon next week.
"a ton of news" is only good if EP & FS follow through with the news. That was the problem last year. if a ton of news is dropped at the meeting get ready for the microscopes to come out.
I would think if there was an upfront payment it would have reflected in the last P&L statement?
My guess it's just a standard % split.
Typical split is FOX 25% plus recoupment of all expenses and hold 20% reserves.
HH would get 75% of the FOX take and then they give 75% of that amount to producers.
They may have to give more to the producers if they didn't agree to lower their percentage due to the FOX subcontract. These are good questions to ask at the meeting.
CK - I think this Twelve deal with FOX has a lot of factors besides the good sellable cast. I would have to think that the million dollar marketing campaign for the theatrical release sealed the deal. Without that I don't think FOX would have entered into this arrangement. FOX was able to track the awareness of the film and although there was never a chance for it to do well in the box office, the awareness of the target audience was high enough to consummate the deal. If this proves to be a good deal for both HH and FOX, you might think that Eric & Fred will go to the festivals looking for more of these higher profile films with this guaranteed FOX DVD deal in their hip pocket.
Just so you know, this kind of arrangement is very common. Vivendi Entertainment group has a dozen of these subcontracting deals. Sony has several as does Warner Bros. So if FOX doesn't sigh an exclusive with HH, they can shop theses higher profile films anywhere.
here's a re-post of something I sent to jshook.
Re: jshook16 post# 49926 0 Post # 50001 of 50609.
What you're not taking into consideration is the HH split with the filmmakers. If HH did the distribution on their own, the standard deal is 75% -25% split between them. Filmmakers (75%). Distributor (25%). The 2 Million that HH pledged to the filmmakers is not an "acquisition fee", it was surely a minimum guarantee. HH must pay a minimum of 2M and will continue to split 75-25 for the life of the project. Now add FOX to the equation. What is HH split with FOX? My guess it's similar to the above. FOX (25%) HH (75%). FOX will collect the revenue, subtract their 25% plus all of their marketing and distribution fees. (FOX will also hold 20% of the total revenue as a reserve that will go toward returns) One question to ask at the meeting is "did the filmmakers agree to dilute their share of income due to the sub contracting deal with FOX?" My guess is that they would agree to payout distribution fees to 2 companies. This is still a good deal for HH because they didn't incur any costs for marketing, manufacturing and distribution costs so their expenses on this project are capped at 3 Million.

I believe Sycamore will have a nice coming out party at Sundance this year.
Mike Doban has a great reputation and his old company Freestyle Releasing is one of the best in the business when it comes to the Hollywood "Service Deal". I believe he was the driving force in Freestyle's success. http://boxofficemojo.com/studio/chart/?studio=freestyle.htm
This is a hard business to break into but from what I've researched, these guys have the right team assembled here.
My opinion - If Sycamore can pick up a film that performs at a "Bottle Shock" level, everyone here will be very happy.

Correct. This entry on IMDBpro has Pacificor as one of the production companies along with Hannover House. It lists James Cameron as (original writer) and Eric & a guy named Mike Snyder as the writers of this yet to be named animated action adventure.
Here you go shook. As I've said countless times, I just call it as I see it.
