RR,
Sure do. How're things your way? We're busy as ever.
jpg
Cactus, you still look over here?
Just testin'.
RR
BTW,
SI is back up.
jpg
Howdy jpg! Good to have you check in for Dealer's roll call!
RR
RR,
I am now. Boy, SI having some big problems. Bob's been working for the past 30 hours trying to fix it, to no avail. I've been following the progress on the Q&A thread here on IHUB.
Its amazing how disconnected it feels when SI goes down.
jpg
.....No politics over here.
Just like a breath of fresh air, huh?
I hung out on IH all day just waiting for SI to get back. From what I read, the admin folks are working hard to get it going.
M
OK Dealer! Glad to know you are watching for the gang to take roll call!
RR
Hey Murrey!!!! Nice.....No politics over here.
BTW: Glad to know you are connected.......
dealer
Yea RR! That sorta scared me......I had trouble getting on last night and then today.....I have not been getting around on SI too much. Thought maybe the Fat Lady has sung and I wasn't aware of it.
If it is not fixed soon we will have to get in touch with a few folks if we can find out how.
I thhink
dealer
Funny I was going to send this and went back to see if Murrey had ever been over here and then I see he has already posted.......cool!!.....
Yep, I just watched the game. Folks around here still like Sutton and have much respect for him.
I'd like to see him go all the way.
RR
Didn't track it.
Good thing its not connected with Ozark Mountain Bank up here.
Good for you on OZRK!
Looks like they'll have the porch(the original) up and running with a little luck tomorrow.
How about those OK Cowboys?
I wouldn't mind seeing KU and O State play in the finals.
Won't happen.
Murrey, you noticed my little ole neighborhhod bank, OZRK, is making new highs.
Moo!
RR
Hey Champ! Looks like the neighborhood is looking better.
Oh yeah....... Moo! Moooooo! Moo!
RR
Hi Dealer! Well, glad to see you here. Maybe you ought to take roll call! (g)
I read a post earlier this evening. Something about files, back up, hard drive, etc. Guess they got a mess.
Bet some folks are having "SI withdrawal."
RR
Just found this post from SI Bob!! Hopefully SI will soon be back up and running. I have a new computer and do not have anyones E-mail anymore......We need to post this site over there again as soon as SI comes up again.
Glad to see you over here RR! At least we have contact.

I'm turning in now. No progress at all.
I'd been trimming down the folders table on SI all day because at 19.2 million rows, it's just not feasible to keep it updated on the development site in anything near realtime.
Wasn't having any problems until I wrote an ASP to remove the PM's that the site itself had sent but hadn't been read by the recipients. Probably worked out to batches of 300k or so at a time.
As far as we can tell, the "rollback" logs filled up, and it just plain shut down and refuses all attempts at recovery or growing the rollback logs.
As soon as I get up tomorrow, I'm looking for a real Oracle person to try to get it straightened out.
It looks like the data is all intact. We just can't get to it. And all but the last few hundred messages are backed up onto the new server. But the portfolios and some other things aren't. So we're trying our darnedest to get it working as quickly as possible.
And I'm gonna smack the snot out of the next smug Solaris/Oracle geek I run across online who badmouths W2K/SQL Server.
Edit: To make matters worse, I fell asleep about 6-ish yesterday afternoon (I guess that'd be the day before yesterday now) and woke up at midnight and got started on this trimming of the folder table. Meaning I've been awake for 26 hours now. And am supposed to be going to Harrah's tonight with the wife for the night in celebration of our 17th anniversary.
Hi RR! Just happen to come over......wondering what is going on with SI. I have not been able to get on for 2 days. Do you know anything or are you able to get on??
dealer
Yo Dealer! You lurking on the alternate Porch site?
You making money this week?
RR
Hey Cactus! You over here? RR (eom)
Good to know we got a place to come to when SI is down.
Now..... where was Dealer?
Wonder why she didn't wander over here!
RR
Hi jpg: Tough loss for the Hogs last weekend.
We had "Cheater Refs" !!!!!!!! (g)
I was there. Saw the horrible calls. Awful.
Worst 3 calls I believe that I've ever seen in one game.
RR
RR,
That's some glitch SI has.
Tough loss for the Hogs last weekend.
jpg
Hey, any Porchers over here with SI being down?
RR
RR,
There has been quite a bit of disbelief of this rally since it began in October, at least on the message board.
On the other hand, sentiment surveys (i.e. Investor's Intelligence) are showing historically high bullish to bearish sentiment. Go figure.
jpg
John, hope you been making some money in this market.
Wild, isn't it, trying to square root this market with the gurus going nuts.
I wouldn't be surprised to see it pull back for a breather then head up a bit more.
RR
Ha! Just trying to keep up with you, jpg!
What's that you say.... "got to keep'em guessing?" (g)
Aloha!
RR
RR,
You're one resourceful dude indeed.
Aloha.
jpg
Been doing good trading the SPX.
Still in a channel.
I still think it wants to test 950 again.
Nice if it does. Breaks through this time, and should run.
Enough steam left?
Will watch it Tuesday, time permitting, for going long again.
RR
Anybody studying charts this holiday weekend?
Cautious about a pullback for trading purposes, but some charts still look very strong.
Sitting on the highest cash position in weeks in the trading part of the pie. Took profits last week.
RR
Morning Porchers! SI is not working here this morning. JPG, I think that I saw you lurking around on another IHUB thread, so I know you're around.
Beautiful day here. Outstanding.
RR
RR,
When I read about (and see footage of) tornadoes, I'm relieved that we only have to deal with earthquakes in CA.
jpg
Howdy jpg! The one yesterday was a little one. Ended up maybe 15 miles away, south of me. Damage limited to a car dealership but it was $15 million worth!
The one a couple of weeks ago that I also wrote about was only about 3 miles north of me. It caused huge destruction. A wonder nobody got killed in that one. Lots of homes destroyed. 160 mph. That one was close. Stayed on the ground 6 or 7 miles.
Good to see you ventured over here. Was wondering if I could raise anyone.
RR
RR,
So how close did it get to you?
jpg
Damage reports now coming in. Yep, it touched down.
Murrey, I was just typing the above and the power went off for a few minutes. Had to retype this.
Raining here now. Watching it via live cam on top of the office buildings down in the city. Coming my way now but should track about 3 miles east.
Think I'll go watch the sky here now.
RR
Murrey, just a few minutes after I finished the last post to you about the tornados, the sirens went off in the city with a funnel on the ground. Looks like it will track south of the homestead about 10 miles but there is a second line behind it that looks to be coming more our way.
Whew..... tornado alley.
I know I've mentioned to the SI Porch in the past that several years ago, a tornado blew away the second floor of our home here. They love this ridge line.
Just went out on the deck and looked. Nasty cloud. I can see it now 26 miles away in the city. Too far away to see a funnel, but a nasty low wall cloud.
RR
Muerry, you doing OK up there in that mansion in the hills? Lots of bad weather been moving near you.
Had 160 mph in that tornado two weeks ago. Was 3 miles away. Had 45 mph at the house.
Just had a line move by us hours ago again. One twister, no touch down.
RR
Hello Dealer! You check over here anymore?
I see that SI is down.
Thought I'd come over here and dust the Porch off a bit.
RR
I guess dey don't think so Bob <ng>
Puts and calls RR, managing to eek a living. Thanks for asking! Hey, that jetskiing was a blast! We had a great time together that day. Sounds like you are working your plan, and doing well with the "turtles". Zeev was having a great time with JnJ the other day also. Are you aware of his thread here? Very short term trading oriented by and large, but he also has longer term holdings he terms "core" which have done very well from what I have seen. Nice to see Tom posting again, isn't it? Guess we had a hiccup on SI today. Take care and best of success! tim
I'm back on SI now too jp.
Ö¿Ö
Missouri SI back on the air.
give it time. my password works like usual.
I got in thru a back door, but it won't acknowledge my login ID..... I can only read threads..... after I search for them.....
OOF
Ö¿Ö
Wild day RR. Still making $$, but it sure has been tough.
Don't work too hard.
Hey, are you in town or the burbs? You going home on the weekends?
goober Ö¿Ö
RR,
<How ones deals with adversity and overcome is essential to success.>
I'm a powerful believer in that notion (particularly when it comes to one's character), both from personal experience and by observation. Some of the people I admire most are family and friends that I've seen conquer difficult setbacks.
jpgill
jpgill, I view those bumps in the road as challenges. You don't learn those kinds of things from the books.
There's no substitute for experience.
How ones deals with adversity and overcomes those challenges is essential to success.
It starts with having the proper attitude, which includes that confidence you mentioned. A powerful point in my view.
Take care....
Rick
RR,
Thanks for the kind wishes. Sometimes bumps in the road are opportunities in disguise.
We've got plenty of work and plenty of confidence (and hopefully plenty of humility -g-).
Take care.
