"standard a wee bit."
Is "wee" allowed?
Personally I would rather certain posters didn't try to steal from their marks by telling outrageous lies of behalf of the object of their affection, and that's more important to me than the minor profanities they use.
If posters could just be honest, then they can say "shit" all day as far as I'm concerned. In fact most of them use far worse language in the PMs they feel compelled to send me the instant before they block me from replying.
Oh, believe me, I've tried. And given up.
Now, the little rugrats climb all over me and get ice cream and cookie crumbs all over me.
That's funny slojab but it doesn't hurt to try and raise the standard a wee bit.
What's professional about the iHub setting?
Nothing personal towards iHub, but a daycare setting is more professional than what I see on the boards most of the time.
Agree. I think, on stock related boards anyway, the language should be expected to at least meet the standards one would use in a professional setting.
but we know that they sometimes don't and when that happens i don't think it is unreasonable for ihub to step in. i'm certainly no pollyanna and use plenty of colorful language in private. i just don't want to see it publically. i know, i know, i'm free to put those posters on ignore.
Would you restore posts if a mod who prefers not to see the word on a stock board removed it?
I'm with Lucky as far as a higher standard. Even the Yahoo BB slum doesn't allow it...
I would hope that posters would have a higher standard. :)
that's a shame, dan. i would hope that ihub would have a higher standard.
Is "shit" and its derivatives permitted in iHub posts? Yes or No please... :)
Personally I would prefer members didn't post it but I don't remove posts for that word.
I miss George Carlin.
I have seen the iHub definition of vulgarity and I find it vague...
"profanity of any kind is unacceptable"
According to Wiki: "Shit" is an English word that is usually considered vulgar and profane in Modern English.
Researching the definition of PG-13:
If a film uses "one of the harsher sexually derived words" (such as f**K) one to four times, it is routine today for the film to receive a PG-13 rating, provided that the word is used as an expletive and not with a sexual meaning (yet there are exceptions).
Well, clearly the movie definition of PG-13 allows far more profanity than iHub.
To me, I find absolutely no reason why an adult can't be expected to find a more descript adjective than "shit" as the best choice to describe a stock.
Simple question: Is "shit" and its derivatives permitted in iHub posts? Yes or No please... :)
I can't see who restored it... :)
Well since the post was restored. whaddu tink?

What is the official policy on posters using the term "shit", "shitty", "I don't give a shit", etc?
Is "shit" acceptable or up to the board mods to determine?
Everyone here can protest removals, and report TOS violations. And a coherent, rant-free message sent here: http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/post_prvt.aspx?user=111041 sometimes will work when all else fails.
That makes sense. I still feel we have inappropriate mod activities. Ill keep an eye out.
"Shouldn't a Mod approve of and post positive about the stock he/she is moderating?"
No, they should enforce the iHub ToU fairly and impartially. Period.
If all the Mods were just company shills then you'd never be able to tell the truth on a MB of one of the many companies that happen to be scams, and handle all the inappropriate deletions and posts that the supporters of the stock invariably commit.
As an example, it was only after I took over as Mod at the SPPH MB after the declared IRP stepped aside in late 2010 that any of the salient facts that revealed SPPH as an obvious scam were able to be posted and remain prominent - previously they were either deleted or buried.
Under the new regime of up to six "equal" Mods, it is now possible to have a balance between those who favor a stock, and those who don't. This tends to stop the more egregious abuses in either direction.
If someone is going to be a Moderator, they should at least be a shareholder.
The Moderator's role is to ensure the TOU are upheld. The rules of the site deal with conduct, not investor sentiment or shareholder status.
http://ihwiki.advfn.com/index.php?title=FAQ:Neutral_Mods
And this, specifically the MODERATOR's role:
In short, the role of the Moderator is to help foster an environment that promotes and encourages posting of ALL opinions and information about companies, regardless of the bullish or bearish sentiment of the posts, and to be the site’s first line of defense in ensuring we remain free of spam, vulgarity, and personal attacks.

Shouldn't a Mod approve of and post positive about the stock he/she is moderating? A board I follow has several that have nothing good to say.
If you use IE9, Meatloaf posted an informative 'fix'.
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=74047775&txt2find=ie9
Well, I use Firefox - looks like Dan was likely referencing IE:
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=63484342
What browser do you use? If it's Firefox, I can walk you through FF.
Otherwise, I'm not really sure how to make it any more plain than what Dan did.
Anyone else?
Read msgs on message section of stock boards still not
highlighted in Red as they used to be....
Pls explain in plain language how I can make it happen???
Thanks
BR
Is the search function not working? I can't search for posts or boards.
Think of it like internet talk radio:
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/auditorium.aspx
a place for scam CEOs to shear sheep.
It seems to be hit or miss. I just clicked on another symbol to get a quote and it didn't happen.
What is the IHUB auditorium?
Warren has identified the root cause. We're talking to the ad team to see if we can get a fix.
me three...happens when I log in and also if I get a delayed quote
if I click on a ticker to get a quote from my favorites list, the page it brings me to makes it look like I am not logged in and the ad pops up again....even though I am logged in.
I can't duplicate this, but we're checking into it. Thanks for reporting the chain of events where it happens for you.
Same here, even if I am logged in it pops up if I click on the news icon
The FXCM ad does appear to me everyday when I first open IHUB because at that point, I am not logged in.
However, if I click on a ticker to get a quote from my favorites list, the page it brings me to makes it look like I am not logged in and the ad pops up again....even though I am logged in.
no he had it right. Tom Cruise/Scientology etc etc lol
The rules change to fit what the admin wants to do.
There are Terms, policies, rules and practices, some automated - and subject to change, and some manual and subject to change and administrative discretion. The latter occurs hundreds and even thousands of time a day. If you are looking for absolutes or total uniformity then you are looking in the wrong place.
wow...thats alot of spam....
How about starting a new board called Compensated Awareness where any poster can go to read what stock is being pushed, rather than seeing it all over many other boards? Here's a good example of what I mean...
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/msgsearch.aspx?searchstr=fstc
You are correct, thank you. My bad.
I think that was "Independence Day"...
I do... LOL I even require the promo people to pay. The CEO of BLDW is going to call the promo company. 1 person hasn't paid Ihub/ no disclaimer either.
"Nothing was changed" / "With the new system" Which is it ?
or is it this ?

No posts/Mod activity in 30 days.
The rules change to fit what the admin wants to do. I have maintained that board without rudeness or tos violations since the day I created it. I'm involved with that company and the problem could have been resolved with a simple PM. This is the only business I know of where an employee can be rude to a paying customer and nothing is done about it.
Because they want you to Pay $$$$$ to support the business.. IMO.. it's not about TOU, it's about $$$
I reported 4 posts
When I realized there was over 100, I sent a pm to admin stating there was a problem on the board.
When the problem continued I posted here.
Generic gave a good answer and it should have been left at that..
When a person goes into a buisiness and there's an offensive person in there, they have the right to complain.
These issues have already been discussed via PM. When using PM's to discuss issues you get a different answer every time and these issues affect all the admins and other paying customers here.
With JB's Ibox Junkyard; I do most of my Ibox work in the middle of the night and the GOOG editor is not fully compatible with the Ibox editor.
So I copy the info into the junkyard remove or fix what's needed then put it in the right Ihub Ibox.
The first time I used it I transferred an archived Ibox into it because the info went to 3 iboxes and some was to be saved for a later date.
On the first use, Linda deletes the board
I sent a PM to Admin explaining what I was doing, Edward restores the board
a couple weeks later with garbage from 4 stocks in it Linda deletes the board again saying it's stock specific.
I ask Shelly about it without telling her what's going on and she says a stock specific board is about 1 stock only.
Linda finally says I did it because I can do it... End of story/ can't argue with that.
Should Dan know what took place ? Should I have to write 4 PM's and get 4 different answers ?
There's a line on the movie 'Fourth of July' when they describe the aliens. I believe they say they are like locusts going from planet to planet using up all natural resources. I think of it every time they descend on a board and stock.
Yes, they'll be gone and the sp will be down.
They've become a great early warning system for people to dump their shares.
