Exxon Mobil shares rally on crude inventory drop and futures rise
By: Investing.com | September 27, 2023
Exxon Mobil Corp (NYSE:XOM).'s shares marked a significant uptick on Wednesday, registering a 3% increase. This surge marked the fourth consecutive session of gains for the oil giant and set the stage for a potential record close. The rally coincided with a report from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) which highlighted a 2.2 million barrel decrease in U.S. crude inventories, along with a 4% surge in U.S. crude futures.
Analysts at Oanda attribute Exxon's share price rally to a robust oil price surge, primarily driven by supply restrictions. The strong performance of U.S. crude futures also contributed to the positive sentiment surrounding Exxon Mobil's stocks. Yet, they also cautioned about ongoing economic concerns that could potentially counteract rising prices in the future.
The drop in U.S. crude inventories as reported by the EIA has been a key factor in driving oil prices upward, contributing to the positive momentum in Exxon Mobil's stock performance. The decrease in inventories indicates tightening supply conditions in the market, which typically leads to higher prices.
Exxon Mobil's recent performance also benefits from its solid financial standing. According to InvestingPro data, Exxon Mobil has a market cap of $479.18 billion USD, a P/E ratio of 9.55, and a revenue of $367.98 billion USD as of the second quarter of 2023. The company's PEG ratio stands at 0.24, indicating that the stock may be undervalued given its earnings growth rate.
InvestingPro Tips also highlight Exxon Mobil's consistent increase in earnings per share and the company's record of raising its dividend for 40 consecutive years. These factors, along with the company's dominance in the Oil, Gas & Consumable Fuels industry, contribute to its strong market position.
While the recent performance of Exxon Mobil's shares is encouraging, economic uncertainties remain a potential risk factor that could influence future price movements. As stated by analysts at Oanda, these concerns could potentially counteract rising oil prices, thus impacting Exxon Mobil's stock performance.
For those interested in further analysis, InvestingPro offers additional tips on Exxon Mobil and other companies.
Exxon Mobil Corp.'s shares have been on an upward trajectory recently, driven by favorable market conditions including supply restrictions and a decrease in U.S. crude inventories. Yet, ongoing economic uncertainties may still pose challenges to future price developments. With the company's strong financial standing and consistent earnings growth, Exxon Mobil continues to be a prominent player in the industry.

Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM) sees $16 billion in earnings for fuels, chemicals by 2027
By: Investing.com | September 20, 2023
HOUSTON (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp (NYSE:XOM) expects its motor fuels and chemicals earnings to reach $16 billion by 2027, up about $4 billion from current levels as demand continues to rise, executives said on Wednesday.
The largest U.S. oil company has been generating strong refining profits this year in part on a massive expansion of refining capacity and focus on higher margin chemicals. Executives forecast gasoline demand will not peak until late this decade, a much longer timeframe than other forecasters.
"Toward the end of this decade we see gasoline demand peaking, but it will be a long plateau," Exxon Senior Vice President Jack Williams said at briefing at its Spring, Texas, headquarters.
Exxon combined its once separate chemicals and oil refining businesses and redesigned operations to quickly shift between fuels and chemicals based on which delivers the highest profit.
Its fuels outlook differs from oil-consuming nations group International Energy Agency, which expects the use of oil for transportation fuels to decline after 2026. U.S. gasoline use likely topped out in 2018, the U.S. government has said.
Exxon's merged refining, petrochemicals and low-carbon business unit will ride market demand for each, said Karen McKee, president of the Product Solutions unit.
"We have the hypothesis this could be a game changer for Exxon Mobil," McKee said.
Exxon's (bpd) Beaumont, Texas, refinery expanded by 250,000 barrels per day (bpd) in January. The now-619,024 bpd facility processes crude from Exxon's West Texas oilfields to primarily make diesel fuel.
"It is running extremely well," McKee said.
As demand for fuel wanes, the refineries will be able to supply new markets without another refining expansion, Williams said.
"We're going to be upgrading units rather growing our throughput," he said.
The company's 564,440 barrel-per-day (bpd) Baytown, Texas refinery, which is co-located with a chemical unit, will allow it to evolve from primarily making fuels to chemicals, Williams said.
"Refining's not going to go away. (But) a lot of it will be toward chemicals," he added.

LOL...change the subject????
I was dumb enough to respond to all your idiotic claims.
If my credibility was screwed up with RAD then so be it. But I doubt it. The SEC and insiders screwed up that one when they halted the merger.
What other boards do you want to follow me to?
Really? A 2 cent stock is your largest holding?? Geez, no wonder you're desperate to try to damage my credibility.
I'm doing very well with my XOM stock. Thanks for mentioning it.
However, I am very happy you recognize that it's ok to be critical of a position you own.
Now, I didn't sell any XOM back then. What's your story with "your largest holding"?
We can go back to discussing how you were selling while telling others to hold if you'd prefer.
You have 634 posts on my largest holding, VPLM, and I'm following you around? You are so full of it!
Great call on xom, back @ $41...
Don't blame me. He has been following me around IHUB.
Man! Comeon. Would you two give it up. There are actually people here interested in exon posts, not two little boys having a cat fight
You mean the call during Covid? So I assume you're complimenting me since the stock dropped to $30.
Either way, I didn't sell a share. You see, that's the beauty of buying a dividend stock vs a scam penny stock.
Broke people always think like you do. Guess it helps your case when you're pumping.

$The call @ $41 was brilliant...lol. Now $114....that is "rad" level!
I was right. There is no fact you won't debate.
So tell me about Tommy going to jail? Care to retract that? I may send your post to him.
"Investopedia", the bible for the simple...
Geez, are you just too stubborn to admit you're wrong?
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/protective-put.asp
I know Tommy Dorsey. I've had lunch with him long ago when someone wanted to introduce him to me.
Went to jail?? Are you mad????
Are you this dense to real investing that you don't know the purpose of a protective puts?
Dummy, they are puts, not "protective puts"... HAIRROW...

Glad I bought protective puts here. Probably should do it on every stock I own that pays a dividend.
Buy on the way up!!! Just my opinion, of course.

Who the heck knows? All trend lines are gone. In 2002 this stock traded around $40. That's the closest thing to a support I can find, but a lot different world then.
Can't imagine they can continue to raise dividends every year. May should be an increase, but it's already at 8%.

This is hilarious. It's just killing you that you can't find other penny stock stories to throw at me. You're now comparing EXXON, one of the largest corporations in the world to your stinky manipulated penny stock??
However, with that said, if you're trying to prove what a good investor I am....
Jan. 2020 XOM price $71.37
October 2020 XOM price $31.11
It's just killing you not finding any dirt, isn't it?
Of course the most important part of this lesson is, it was paying .87 per share dividend and due to reinvestment of dividend since 2003 when I first bought, I now have 943 shares. You see, this is my lesson to ALL penny stock holders (who aren't you), buy and hold good blue chip stocks.
Certainly, you aren't going to stock there! Don't be lazy. I've been around since 2000 and you're only to 2020?

Exxon Mobil in talks with Tesla, Ford to supply lithium - Bloomberg Law
By: Investing.com | July 31, 2023
(Reuters) -Oil major Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) is in talks with Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), Ford Motor (NYSE:F), Volkswagen (ETR:VOWG_p) and other automakers to supply lithium for electric vehicle batteries, Bloomberg Law reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The talks also include the likes of Samsung (KS:005930) and SK On Co, the report added.
Tesla, Ford, Volkswagen did not respond to Reuters requests for comment, while Exxon declined to comment.
Any discussions between Exxon and automakers would be very preliminary since Exxon has no way of producing the battery metal.
Reuters reported last month that Exxon had agreed to study ways with Tetra Technologies (NYSE:TTI) Inc to develop more than 6,100 acres (24.7 square kilometers) in Arkansas containing lithium-rich brine. Exxon also earlier this year bought more than 100,000 acres in Arkansas from privately-held Galvanic Energy.
Extracting lithium from those brines will require Exxon to chose a direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology, something it has not yet done. Additionally, no DLE technology has ever worked at commercial scale, although multiple companies are racing to be the first.
Reuters also reported last month that Exxon has held talks with International Battery Metals about licensing DLE technology.
Exxon's rapid expansion into the lithium sector comes amid growing interest from traditional energy companies and others into emerging technologies that aim to boost global supply of the ultralight metal.
