New Feature: Streaming on Quote Page
This one is pretty awesome.
http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=squote&symbol=C&stream=true
It's in 'testing' for a few days, but if you want to try it on any symbol, just add the &stream=true you see above to the URL for any quote.
If you have a realtime subscription, it will update in realtime streaming.
If you have a delayed/free account, it will be delayed, but still streaming.
If you are logged out, no streaming.
Let us know what you think!

A java update will likely correct your issue. I had the same problem last week.

Update: Order Sizes on Level 2
This affects OTC stocks only.
http://www.otcmarkets.com/news/otc-press-release?id=365
Simple version: Prior to this change, most order sizes displayed by market makers were 5000, regardless of real size -- whether it really was 5000 or 100M. Now, market makers are required to publish the real size of the order they are representing.
This is an excellent step in the direction of improved market transparency, so kudos to FINRA on this one.
On the ADVFN Level 2, the change was seamless. The only thing to note is that to get the 'real' order size, you need to multiply the size x 100. So, if the order size is 100 on ADVFN Level 2, the order size is actually 10,000.
This is a fairly standard multiplier across trading systems, due to massive order sizes on some stocks, to keep them on the screen nicely.
On the "trades" section for Ihub. When it shows buys vs sells. How can that show this accurately? Isn't there a buyer for every seller?
You're correct that every trade is actually a buy and a sell. The system takes a guess at what it was sent to the market as based on the execution price -- at the bid or ask. Here's a little more on it:
http://learn.advfn.com/index.php?title=Trades#How_does_Trades_determine_if_the_trade_was_a_Buy_or_Sell.3F
Kind of weird, every time I try to launch the ihub app on iPad it just closes on it's own.. Tried restarting the ipad but no luck.
Make sure that you're rocking with iOS 4.0 or higher. 4.3 is preferred.
>>Is the new Quote search box broken?
The boys are working on it. It works just fine on the investorshub (message board) side; when using it on the quote/news/chart pages, it's a bit buggered. They should have a solution soon.
New SearchBar with AutoSuggest
Many will love it, some will hate it just because it's different. It's an improvement, I promise, so give it a fair shake.
It's a somewhat radical change because we've split the search in half. Get a Quote on the left and Search iHub on the right.
One of the coolest innovations in the last few years has been AutoSuggest. Most of the major sites where you're searching for anything have it. It generally saves you a few keystrokes and quite often can lead to really interesting discoveries.
Looking for a quote for Microsoft? Type in just MS and you'll see MSFT in the list. Click it or arrow down.
Looking for a quote on Microsoft but don't have a clue what the ticker is? No problem, just type in Microsoft (or even just the first few letters) and up it pops.
If nothing else, your hands fighting against carpal tunnel will be happy with this.
The results are based on dollar trading volume, so it'll do a ticker/name search, show you a ticker match first, then sort the rest by dollar trading volume. It's very slick.
So, why two boxes? We're essentially drawing a line in the sand between market data (quotes, level 2, charts, etc) and iHub (message boards). If you want anything related to a quote or company, use the box on the left. If you want anything related to message boards, use the box on the right.
I'd like for us to get to using AutoSuggest within the iHub search at some point, but we'll see what shakes there.
While it may initially seem like there's more crud on the screen, you'll notice that we've turned three items -- a single search box and two giant ugly buttons -- into two groovy search boxes with very clear purposes.
Kudos to MEATLOAF on a beautiful UI implementation and to Warren on the backend search technology.
BETA Invitation: Trader Alerts
We've been working on something quite groovy that produces Trade Alerts in realtime based on certain triggers.
We've got a very basic version up that we'd like to open up for some feedback.
At the moment, it only works on NYSE stocks. If you're interested in trying it out and willing to provide some feedback, send me a PM.
Sweet! It's only the beginning.
As always, you learn a lot about things once they're released into the wild....
We've got lots planned for it, so make sure you let the App Store keep feeding you up the updates!
How do I logout of the IHUB App on my iPhone?
On the iPhone, click More > About > Logout.
On the iPad, click About > Logout.
How are you liking it???

My app crashed every time I entered anything in the quote box. Stopped trying after 4 crashes. Had to go to website to get what I needed. (Have Apple iPhone 4)
Try going to About > Global Search and disabling it.
Then try the same search(es).
We've identified at least one bug related to that and it might be what's affecting you.
If you experience any crashes with the iPhone/iPad app, please see this post: #msg-62283892
We'll get right on it.
Junk - same thing... #msg-62283892 .. and we'll get it fixed up.
MT:
Thanks for letting us know you're having issues with the app. We can often address the issue very quickly, but we need some specific detail from the app's crash dump. Great word, eh?
After experiencing a crash, please connect your device to the computer you synchronize it with. Launch iTunes and synchronize. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to folder C:\Users\<<USER NAME>>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\<<DEVICE NAME>>
(Replace <<USER NAME>> with your windows login name)
Select all iHub (iHubMobile) crash files, add to zip file and send to support@investorshub.com
This will be of great help to us and we can fix any unexpected issues that could be causing the crash.
Thanks!

>>Droid apps too?
Yes, development will kick off on those shortly and should be much quicker to release since a lot of the heavy lifting is done now.
It's way cool, isn't it?
Even cooler that we celebrate the launch of the App alongside iHub's 11th birthday.
11 years?!? That's like 94 in Internet years.
Huge kudos to all that make iHub possible. From the ridiculously overworked Admin, the brilliant developers, excellent sales/support staff, and especially the intelligent, crazy, fun, savvy folks that call iHub home.
iHub is a very special place.
It's official! iHub App for iPhone and iPad approved and in App Store!
Go check it out in the App Store by searching 'ihub'. It's a free download.
Official PR on it too: Investors Hub Announces iPhone and iPad App
This is the result of a hell of a lot of work by the IH team, BETA testers, and I'm very proud of the release. I use the app daily.
Lots of upgrades planned for it, so definitely download it and feel free to comment here on anything you'd like to see added or changed.
BTW, for the iHub junkies out there, you're gonna love the message notifications. When you get a public or private reply...and you have the iHub app on your phone or iPad, you'll get a really cool notification!

News on Homepage and Live Desktop
Live Desktop added to More Tools #msg-61648595
The Top News, which many people are finding handy, has been moved up to the top of the homepage. Now, you get the key charts at the top and the most important market news of the day just below them. This answers the question "What is the market doing...and why?" in one glance.
We've got one groovy secret squirrel feature that's coming very soon....MEATLOAF is pounding away at the keyboard on it as I type....
Live Desktop added to More Tools
You can now access Live Desktop by going to More Tools > Live Desktop.
Live Desktop is a web-based JAVA tool that allows you to customize what your layout is with numerous streaming charts, Level 2 windows, etc.
clown - that's been fixed in the most recent version. Thanks for spotting it!
Oh, that! That's a system trigger, if you type in a ticker and stick a $ in front of it, it'll make it an active ticker so you can get a quote/chart by hovering.
$MSFT
Doesn't work that well, we haven't tinkered with it in ages. Will note to kill it or make it work mo'betta.
Newly,
Not quite sure what you're referring to - yellow splotches?
Could you send me a link or describe where it's at on your screen?
>>Yes- publicly- would be nice to know how current the Ibox information is. Especially, if that stock has gone through some transitions, like a split, name/symbol change, etc...
I think a Wiki-style format where you can see who edited it and when would be good. Also, displaying the last modified date by default as well.
Shelly said she's going to stick this in our project queue for the upcoming jiggling about of the Ibo...err...Intro Message.
>>One thing I've noticed is a symbols board messages only get updated if I go to another symbol and look at its board and then when I go back to the symbol it is updated.
I'm sending you an email shortly on this. I believe we've addressed your request and need you to test it out for me!
iPhone/iPad folks:
If you aren't yet in the BETA and want to be -- we're in the final round -- please send me your UUID via private message.
http://www.ispeeddial.com/how-to-find-your-iphone-uuid/
We're doing a build and distribute tomorrow, so sooner the better.
>>Beautiful app! This is exactly what I was hoping for.
Glad you like it! It's been a lot of work, but all involved are really happy with how it's turning out for version 1.0!
Please do provide any feedback, positive or negative regarding it.
How does Trades determine if the trade was a Buy or Sell?
http://learn.advfn.com/index.php?title=Trades#How_does_Trades_determine_if_the_trade_was_a_Buy_or_Sell.3F
This question is frequently asked, so it's been added to the Stock Market 101 wiki.
Since that board is so well-maintained, I've just added a secion for it inside of Definitions wiki and linked to the board:
http://learn.advfn.com/index.php?title=Stock_Market_Definitions#Common_Acronyms
Excellent suggestion. We'll put something up. Will probably stick it under Stock Market Definitions.
skeptic,
You should be getting those by default.
If not, go to your settings ( Settings > My Site Options ) and make sure Email Notificatios are on. They're down the page a bit.
Also make sure you have the right email address in your profile. That's where the emails will be sent.
You'll get a notification on any replies to you or private messages sent to you.
Any Questions?
We're gonna have another go at adding useful content/links to Stock Market 101.
Are there any questions out there that you guys see asked often by new users/investors?
If so, would appreciate knowing them so we can get them added to appropriate section of wiki...
http://learn.advfn.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
Several recent additions are on there, looking for new questions/areas to focus on.
Thanks, everybody! Hope that 2011 is going well and you're enjoying the constant improvements to the site.
