Dendreon: For biotech stocks profiled in Barron's Online (35.99)Barron's Online reports big drug makers have not lost their taste for smaller biotech companies following last year's wave of megamergers. Astellas Pharma's surprise $3.5 billion offer last week for OSI Pharmaceuticals marks the Japanese drug maker's second hostile attempt to buy a U.S. company. The bid also signals a return to the days of industry goliaths feeding on small and midsized drug makers. That could eventually lead to bids for companies such as Dendreon, Allos Therapeutics (ALTH), Alexion Pharmaceuticals (ALXN) and Auxilium Pharmaceuticals (AUXL), and a big payoff for their shareholders... A lot of attention is being placed on companies worth $1 to $5 billion. Flush with cash, big drug makers won't have a hard time financing deals of this size. And they appear willing to pay as much as 60% or 70% over the stock price for compelling companies, especially those with promising products approaching or just entering commercial markets. "Big drug makers will pay to avoid developmental risk," says Bryan Giraudo, an investment banker with Leerink Swann. "Established companies with good products are worth a premium."

RMBS HUGE NEWS
hot off the press
6,470,405 (FINAL) Right to Appeal (1-37 all confimed)
405 is involved in ITC case ESSEX/ STAFF (11,12,13,15 and 18)
6,591,353 (FINAL) Right to Appeal (1-26 subject to reexam)
claims confirmed: 2-4,6,8-10,12,13, 15-18,20-22 and 24-26
claims rejected: 1,5,7,11,14,19,and 23
353 is involved in ITC case ESSEX/ STAFF (11,12,13)
-----------------------------------------
This is extremely good news and very surprising. The USPTO Examiner has now issued a final ruling that confirms the validity of 9 different claims that were in the ITC Case. This virtually guarantees that the ITC Commission will now concur, and that an appeal by Nvidia to the CAFC is futile. With the ITC staff, the ITC ALJ, the USPTO examiner, and the ITC Commission all validating the patents....the CAFC won't overturn the ITC decision.
These rulings today virtually guarantee Rambus a 2% controller revenue stream on the 20 Billion TAM Controller market of the next five years.

Dendreon: Long-term IMPACT trial data at ASCO GU cancer meeting confirm PROVENGE survival benefits in metastatic CRPC - Needham (33.62)Needham notes last night, co announced an upcoming data presentation at the 2010 ASCO GU Cancer Meeting. Long-term follow-up data (36.5 months and 349 events) showed that PROVENGE improved three-year survival by 40% (vs previously reported 38%) as compared to placebo (32.1% vs. 23%). The median survival difference for PROVENGE patients as compared to placebo patients was maintained at 4.1 months, with a 24.1% (vs previously reported 22.5%) reduction in the risk of death (HR=0.759, p= 0.017) (vs previously reported HR=0.775, p=0.032). Firm is positively inclined towards the approval of PROVENGE. These updated, long-term data further outline the robustness of the previously reported IMPACT trial findings. New data presented here suggest that docetaxel use did not diminish, and may indeed strengthen, the study conclusions regarding the survival benefit seen with PROVENGE. Firm believes the amended BLA sufficiently addresses the efficacy (clinically relevant and statistically significant survival benefit) and CMC issues (ongoing discussions with FDA).
why not take full advantage of the Small Business loans being offered at ridiculous low rates...
pay off everything, and continue to work toward the obvious coming recovery.
while things are dead right now i expect a return to full employment starting April and beyond, we'll be creating jobs by then so i would not give up yet.
look when it's at the bleakest time frame like today, i say we'll be in much better shape the end of 2010 and beyond. The stock market is telling us this for 10 months or so...
we are in crisis but still alive...if you can hold on then i suspect you'll make a ton more money when the economy turns...
actually i do not thinnk so Joe
in fact everyone that "thinks" they know what happened in 2008 is kiddiung themselves..
these so called negative pundits out there telling everyone how bad Ben & Timmy were, are 100% clueless about the severity of this event.
they write these nonsensical prose for the money, and to create interest in their articles...
but the bottom line is this.
we are in better shape today then back then, i realize it wasn't perfect, but we are working toward an expanding economy that right now is bummping along the bottom.
i'm optimistic....and will continue to trust Ben B & Co.
Sorry Joe
have to disagree with you...Ben is 100% independent, inovative and pre emptive too. Noone in the history of the Fed has done so many "new" things to aid the country from the brink of disaster. And, in fact world markets as well.
I am even getting to like Obama more and more these days...The GOP is certainly behind the curve.
So that's what makes a market, that's what opinions are for. This Fed is "the" most transparent Fed ever! We owe it all to Ben B.
Cakes i had to post this from my e-mail on the 26th of Feb about DNDN
DNDN---WILL GET APPROVAL OF THEIR DRUG IN MAY
TGT---THE CHART IS COMPLETING TO ME ON P&F..INVERSE HEAD AND SHOULDERS
RMBS---LOUSY NEWS FOR A MONTH NOW COULD BE A LOT BETTER 3-06 MONTHS FROM NOW
RIMM---BEST POSITIONED CHINA PLAY IN THIS SPACE
AIG----I KNOW THIS ONE IS A SURPRISE....BUT I LIKE THE CHANCES OF A MAJOR RECOVERY IN THIS STOCK.
Ok so everyone if you get a dip in these names buy 1/2 now and if we get thru next weeks numbers in one piece buy the other 1/2 on that dip.
hope someone got this!
ahh ok...cool
not for me tho i'm the financial guy<g>
altho SNDK was super good yesterday
right financials lagged yesterday if they lead hang on tight<g>
lol
man the dips are so shallow all thru this rally this last year and now...
Hi Ad
hope all is well these days...
Ron Paul? this guy is so out in space he's on Mars...He tried to disparage Ben B last week and Benny promptly laughed him off. The questions he asked the Fed Chair and the witch hunt he was on was so ridiculous it wasn't even funny. After a 10 minute tirad Ben just said one word NO! i almost fell off my chair with laughter...
I have listened to him do interviews before...he needs to retire...everyone is in a conspiracy everyone is doing clandestined illegal acts and he's always talking about the FED?
This guy is horrible, almost as bad as Bunning!
Ben B is hands down the best Fed Chair ever!
I have break out buy signals yesterday and pre market today on a lot of major index charts and the futures too...i would not be short here...
just a quick update here
ES H0 1080 is the sell trigger, 1060 support
1116 the new buy signal...
we look lower on negative eco news this week so far...
Ben B did it again...pretty surprise...
it has to happen before we take out 1105
on P&F time is not relevent...so your guess is as good as mine...
lol
rofl...............
only if we break 1040...critical area on P&F for the markets and me<g>
WWW Pantera
always nuts if you ask me...
Well in all reality Joe since i am clueless about what he could have done or should have done anyway...i'll just say IF he did this, then things were very very bad out there...
OTOH we can handle any rate rise in the future as long as the country is creating jobs and is stable
heck i little move up in rates to a more "normal" number will not hurt us in anyway...
i liked the reaction in the futures as the notes came out today as to his plans...
they bought that dip which was good to see...
we have time to get this correction done and get ready for the next leg up...
If you check the P&F charts we are in what i call a "backside bounce" off oversold McCellans...the 2nd bounce so far..
the BP's are heading lower right now...so i would not be long...but i think the majority of this down move is almost done...
if we take out 9850 on the DJIA or 1040 SPX a critcal sell trigger there i would stay short...
there is large support at 1040 so it will take something out of the blue for that to happen...
if you're short now your stops are 10,350 DJIA 1105 SPX everything in-between is Ping Pong<g>
Actually Joe i called for going to an all cash position in late Dec...to the troops
i did say we "could" get another 4-5% higher but that run off the March lows was too fast and very long in the tooth.
so for now i am in cash and so are the troops
downside risk is not that far down here..
9400 DJIA with a little more trouble if the SPX breaks 1040...
but i doubt we'll see the re test of the March 2009 reaction lows...
as for what the Gov is doing to prop the markets it's way over my head so i ignore it...
in fact Joe i ignore all the wall street pundits with thier constant rhetoric of doom and gloom
i've called it market Noise for years...that's exactly what it is...noise!
but i still like Bernanke and i like the way he's handling all this incredible financial problems over the last 1 1/2 years...
no matter what...he's good as it gets imo...
Hi Joe
what do you think of Ben B's announcement today
this guy is signaling to the markets what the FED is about to do to unwind all this liquidity and he's doing it right...
9350 to be exact<g>
if we take out 10K & 1064 es...
very nice stock we've been trading it everyday along with WFC
Bernanke vote at 10.30
the markets could really pop on his confirmation
AGREE 100%
worse is when the FED starts to raise rates...
watch for abreak of 1080 ES/H0 it could take us down to--------------1028 the bottom of the 10 week trading band...
i did say "could"
