So you look at the daily chart for overall trend of QQQQ and the arrows are when the crossover occurs? And then watch intrady and look for long and short positions on a 5 or 15 min chart based on what the daily trend is?
I seen a forex trading strategy very similar to this. Do you trade Forex to?
What kind of broker you use for scalping?
Thats only some options, not all. I had the same thing happen to me on a couple options too.
Im starting ot get the drift about the leveraging and margin. What kind of trading do you do? Swing, Scalp?
I would like to eventually make a living off it
I'd have to make a lot of pips in 1 day to make it worthwhile then
One more question....what is a could leverage to use compared to your account? I was thinking 1%, so if i have an account with $1,000 then trade with $10 pips or is that to much? Think i got the trading system figured out, now i want to proper way to diversify and manage the account funds.
True that
thanks for the info.....who do you use?
Because if i had a grocery store i would still have to "buy" the groceries. I wouldnt make money if i just kept the groceries to myself. Plus my grocery bill isnt 50% of my income so i could care less about the couple hundred i spend in groceries a month
Dont get me wrong, i rent to, but plan to own my own house one day when i find a nice one. Prices still dropping hard.
Thanks, Oanda was on my list to check out.... I just download Forex.com's platform and seeing how i like that. I like the MT4 trading platform so far. Any reviews on them as far as customer service and money withdrawl? Yes i will have a small account and probably scalp trade.
Ive been demoing Forex for a couple months with Forex Yard. Whats a good reputable forex broker? I heard bad things about Forex yard as far as getting your money out of your account. I would prefer a USA based broker.
Most blackberrys use windows. I think that would be your best bet
why dont you buy a house? You could have a sweet house with a mortage like that and it will be an investment, instead of giving someone $2,500 a month and never seeing that money ever again
Do you trade Forex? Thats a scalpers dream.
In one of his pics he says hes an NFL free agent so he gotta stay in shape. *cough* BULLSHIT *cough*
Thank you for the answers Alien, thats the type of info i was looking for. I gotta learn more about stops now, i never really used them before. Whats the best way? Mental stops? A regular stop and just move it up/down as you feel or a trailing stop?
Ya, i was aware of the 25K rule. Glad to hear there is no "special" tax for daytraders. Thinking about changing up my style of trading. The way the market trades these days swing trading isnt that successful. I need to learn more about scalping.
I didnt know there was an extra tax on daytrading???? But then again thats something i wouldnt know since im more of a swing trader
Interesting, I wanna learn more. How do you find a stock worth scalping? Volume obviously is key, but do you just pick a bunch of stocks and set alerts at resistance and support break throughs ?
You didnt answer my other question. How much should you have to scalp?
ahhh, so your a scalper huh?
Sounds like a good way to trade. What kind of account balance do you have to have to pull little profits like that?
Dont commissions kill you? And what about taxes? Dont you have to report every single trade?
I just got a letter from the IRS saying i owe $16,000 in taxes from $55,000 in gains from 07'. I had to turn in every single trade and i didnt, ouch.
Now your playing puts?
You going to play XLF too? May 12.00 calls look tempting at only .48
They announce earnings monday
I want in on the secret recipe too!!!!!!!
Nothing really. I play earnings and once in a while if i see a stock with huge volume breakout i will get in with a tight trailing stop.
Nope, Earnings.com just says 04/16/09, it doesnt say AMC or BMO
i really dont like playing earning straddles so close to expiry. I'll start playing next months earning straddles, it if doesnt jump enough on EA then i got a month for it do to something and try and make some money out of it still
Ive been trying to trade as conservative as possible these days
Premiums are ridiculous
Everywhere i seen the said they were announce today, they never said BMO or AMC
Theres a bunch of em. Pick an earnings play
Southwest Airlines posts loss, will offer buyouts
Southwest Airlines posts larger-than-expected loss for the first quarter, will offer buyouts
DALLAS (AP) -- Southwest Airlines Co. reported a surprisingly large loss in the first quarter as traffic fell in what the CEO called the carrier's toughest revenue environment ever.
The company said Thursday it will offer buyouts to employees to trim its work force and was also imposing a hiring freeze.
Southwest said it lost $91 million, or 12 cents per share, including $71 million due to the falling value of its fuel hedges.
Without the fuel-hedges item the airline would have lost $20 million, or 3 cents per share, on $2.36 billion in revenue.
In the year-ago period, Southwest earned $34 million, or 5 cents per share, on revenue of $2.53 billion.
Analysts, who usually exclude special items from their forecasts, had expected Southwest to lose a penny per share on revenue of $2.40 billion in the first quarter, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters.
Over the first three months of the year, Southwest's traffic fell 4 percent, a smaller decline than at most other U.S. airlines. And traffic seemed to stabilize in March, when it declined only 0.4 percent from March 2008.
But the more lucrative business travel remained weak, contributing to the loss at Dallas-based Southwest, which went 17 years without a losing quarter until last fall, but now has posted three straight losing periods.
"Our first quarter 2009 financial results are disappointing, but not surprising given the current economic environment," Chief Executive Gary C. Kelly said in a statement. "We face the toughest revenue environment in our history."
Kelly said the rapid weakening in traffic during the first quarter, particularly among business travelers, showed that Southwest is "not immune to the challenges the worldwide recession is having on air travel."
Southwest told employees Thursday it will offer voluntary buyouts to reduce its work force. The airline said it also froze hiring and pay for top officers and senior management.
In premarket trading Southwest shares lost 39 cents, or 5.1 percent, at $7.25.
To late for that. Already gapping up.
That was my reasoning for getting the calls ;)
I bought some LUV calls for Earnings tomorrow. Only thing im holding right now.
Almost played a straddle on JPM but decided not too.
You cut your losses though. A good trader knows when to evacuate.
