My bad, it appears they've upped the ante to 4 posts...
I'm not sure why this is a requirement.
Apparently I need 3 recent posts.
Hi, i'm trying to regain my status as moderator here.
Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it.
There's a nice David Bruce Petite Sirah on WTSO right now. $15.99. I already have a case of it. Pretty good value.
Thanks. I'll keep note of that for a special occasion.
Lugan, have you been monitoring the WTSO.com website? You can get great deals there in the $10 range at times. Just research it before you buy it. Right now there is a 2004 Vilafonte from south africa that is really good. It's at $20 though, a merlot blend with malbec and cabernet thrown in for backbone.
Am still stuck in the Trader Joe bargain wine region, where I continue to find good value. The SanTelmo Essencia Malbec (2009) is worth a case at $4.99 per bottle.
Looking forward to hitting the $9.99 level before year end.
Am not familiar with the David Bruce line.
Looking forward to your posts.
Hey Lugan, i finally got my premium subscription back, so i can post on my board again (lol).. i'm still playing the WTSO.com and Cinderellawine.com bargains. Got a nice david bruce petite sirah for a steal.
My finances have improved to where I can now afford $6 wine.
Today Trader Joe's presented a 2008 Sauvignon Blanc by Sonoma Vineyards. Very nice and good competition to higher priced New Zealand brands.
1663 Apr 10, Samuel Pepys, London-based diarist, noted that he had enjoyed a French wine called Ho Bryan at the Royal Oak Tavern. This same year the Pontacs, a top wine-making family in Bordeaux, founded a fashionable London restaurant called Pontack’s Head. Ho Bryan later came to be called Chateau Haut Brion.

1839 Cyrus Redding, wine merchant and author, published “Every Man His Own Butler.” This included the statement: “claret fro a bishop, port for a rector, currant for a curate and gin for the clerk.”

A brunello on cinderella and amarone on WTSO... a good nite, and of course i'll be sitting on the sidelines because i have twice as many wines than storage to hold them...
swan, have you checked out the cinderellawine.com and/or winestilsoldout.com sites? I'm telling you, every now and then they'll blow your mind with some of the deals they offer. Research the winestilsoldout.com offerings before you plunge though.
Now I shall have to try and confirm that!
i bought it awhile ago,i believe it was around 11 or 12.99 Really good! imo
Looks good. How much was it?
Think Turkey & Fred MacMurray Pinot Noir http://www.macmurrayranch.com/OurWines.htm
Cool. Got a nice Ridge Zin Lytton Springs under $20. Good thanksgiving Zin... would have liked a better year though.
Another series of lackluster offerings from WTSO. Really good deals pop up there, honest to god, i know it doesn't seem that way lately.
The burgundy on WTSO tonight isn't as deeply discounted as it could be. I'm laying off. I also layed off the merlot earlier. Been asking for the Justin Isosceles on cinderellawine.com, but i don't think that's going to happen for a while.
Did you check out that deal on WTSO?
Cellar Vall Llach
Idus
Priorat 2003
I bought four of them, it will take a good week to get it, but best retail price i found was over $40. Good deal at 22.99.
Cinq Cepages listed on WTSO at 33.99... didn't last long.
Ok, i have a preliminary ibox up and running.
Ok, it looks like the problem was with my home computer. You should check out those wine sites i listed in the ibox. Winestilsoldout.com actually offered a 2004 Petrus for $440 a day or two ago. A little beyond my price point (lol) but retail it's about $1000. A nice Zin is there now.
Keep trying. You might ask I-hub for help.
Ummm.. i can't seem to be able to get any pictures at all added to the ibox. in fact, the whole interface seems completely unworkable.
The second one, probably known well to some of you, is called Winestilsoldout.com. I believe this is also a NJ operation and they offer wines, one at a time, until their stock is sold out and then they offer another. Free shipping with a minimum buy, just like CinderellaWine. Check their prices before you leap there though. Sometimes their 'retail' price listed is much higher than what you can find online, thus making the 'deal' not as great as initially apparent. This being said, the majority of my wine is bought through these guys.. some VERY sweet deals pop up here and there and shipping is exceptional.
The first one, relatively new to the scene, is called CinderellaWine.com. This is a NJ project developed by the good folks at Wine Library in northern NJ. Great deals, and a great company to work with.
For starters, I have recently given much attention to a couple discount wine sites.
Ok guys, I want to mod this board. So i have to post a few times.
Sounds wonderful. I'm liking blends these days. Have had the Finca Malbec. Not bad at all.
Have not heard back from them. Will email again.
Is that clip from your "channel"?
2007 Finca Flichman Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon Expresiones Reserve

Very nice long taste and a little less expensive than Cockfighter's.
Curious...did you happen to hear back from Pooles Rock people?
Boy toys are most welcomed ;)
What kind of boy toys? I may have some extras.
Love Malbec. Will have to check that one out. Thanks.
Now that's a cool wine stopper! South American reds seem to be better than there whites. The exception would be the Torrentes.
I emailed the Pooles Rock people for the distributor in Minnesota. Hopefully I'll get a reply.
Let us know if you're looking for any boy toys. lol
Had a bottle of Gascon Malbec with dinner Thursday nite,Very Good!
Bought a Chilian Sauvignon blanc the other day called Espiritu de Chile. The reason I choose that one was simple...It came with a freebie...a wine stopper that was in the form of an Easter Island big head statue. I'm a somewhat of a sucker for stuff like that...LOL. Personally, I didn't care much for the wine but the prize was well worth it!!!!! Don't ever send me out to buy the TV snacks 'cause I'd come back with a Kinder Surprise...just for the toy of course!
LOL...absolutely!!!!
I tend to stay away from Cockfighters, especially ones I can't see. LOL
Have had Verdelho. Nice on a hot summer day.
Malbec is becoming my favorite wine. Some very good ones around $10-12 and the reserves are out of sight. Had a chilian Carmenere last night. Very fruity and smooth with a nice finish.
BTW: Nice to see you posting again
That's worth trying just for the name!
Just tried Cockfighter's Ghost Verdelho. It's dry with a citrusy taste and quite a tang. Wasn't half bad! I understand that their Pinot Noir is outstanding. It's a rare find in my town so I'll have to pick it up on my next excursion to Toronto. Have you tried either at all?
I went on a bit of an Argentinean malbec spree this past winter when I was in Mexico. Sampled a number of Chilian Carménères as well. Sadly, I couldn't tell you the name of any of them but I can say I enjoyed them all!
Banned because of the label?...seems pretty silly. It's not available in this area so I won't get to try it any time soon unless you want to mail me a bottle....
