lugan-Have tried a lot of them. Cab, merlot, chard, syrah, pinot nior and pinot grigo. Great value! We sell the cab for 8.95 and I know they will be less out there. I'm surprised I hadn't mentioned this before. I must be losing it.
BTW: The Hahn's are a little more and are really good. I've had most of them as well. Cab is only 12.95. The Pinot Nior is around 20 bucks and the finish is just fantastic.
Take care. I should be posting here more.

Has anybody had a chance to try Cycles Gladiator wine?
Here's a picture:
http://www.cyclesgladiator.com/AboutCyclesGladiator
2009 Jul 31, Bill Leigon, president of Hahn Family Wines in Soledad, Calif., said that visits to the company's Web site have increased tenfold since news of an Alabama ban on his Cycles Gladiator wine broke late last week. Callers from across the country have been asking where they can buy the wine. It was reported that the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board had recently told stores and restaurants to quit serving Cycles Gladiator wine because of a label that features a nude nymph. The wine's label is copied from an 1895 French advertising poster for Cycles Gladiator bicycles. It shows a side view of a full-bodied nymph flying alongside a winged bicycle.

yw have a good one!
Thanks for the recommendation.
Had a wine last night from Argentina Alamos malbec Very Very good ,about $9.
lugan-Good to here from you. Sorry about your bad luck with the virus.
I do Ice Wine, but do not go ice fishing. I might fall through the ice. lol
Hey MF
I posted that on the wine board by accident. It was intended to address the many participants on the WAVX board.
You are/were lucky to survive the recent "virus plague." It knocked me out to the count of nine. I had to reformat my hard drive. Fortunately the small business that built my system was able to save my critical files at a reasonable cost.
Under the current economic conditions my budget has locked me into the best of deals at Trader Joe's. My dinners these days are usually accompanied by R.C.T.J.W.F. Zinfandel ($4.99). That's on a splurge, for most nights feature TJ's Cabernet Sauvignon at 3.99 or TJ's Shiraz at the same price.
Do you do ice wine when you go ice fishing?
A
lugan-I had a bit of a scare starting around 4/1. I ran all kinds of scans and didn't find anything, but still didn't trust the internet. I have vulnerabilities and they don't have patches yet. Had a tech come to the house just to confirm everything was okay here.
BTW: Wine consumption was up during this period. lol
Can anyone here present an analysis of how WAVE's TPM-based security software fights off computer worms and viruses such as the expected April 1 Conficker worm:
Conficker, also known as Downup, Downadup and Kido, is a computer worm that surfaced in October 2008 and targets the Microsoft Windows operating system. The worm exploits a previously patched vulnerability in the Windows Server service used by Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 Beta, and Windows Server 2008 R2 Beta. The worm has been unusually difficult for network operators and law enforcement to counter because of its combined use of advanced malware techniques… Variant C contains code to sidestep these countermeasures by generating an expanded daily list of 50000 domains across 110 TLDs. This new pull mechanism, however, is disabled until April 1.

Hey guys, all wines are pretty good. Except for Franzia. lol
Yes, very much so. I was in Napa valley last March to visit a cousin of mine and his wife. They have a place along the Napa river. Really a neat property.
Sonoma Wines aren't bad either
Their SUPER wines. WA makes some very good ones too!!!
Hey!!! How about Willamette Valley????
Nah, 3 buck Chuck, in Oregon, 2 buck in CA, Charles Shaw, 2006 Merlot, Napa Valley, CA. is the best buy a TJ's. Always buy 2 cases of red and white of some kind.
Napa valley produces the BEST wines in the WORLD!!!
LOL Trader Joes usually on that type of wine will wrap up an exclusive.
In that case you should pick up all the available Fuerza at Trader Joe's and resell it at the shop for $10.
I work at a wine shop.
Why would you feel guilty for buying from Trader Joe's?
I just tried the Fuerzo Tempranillo ($3.99), and it was also very good.
Not heard of that one. I'd feel guilty buying from Trader Joes. We just got in a Cab from Chili called Cucao. Nice Cab, around 6 bucks. Very smooth.
Just discovered a great deal at Trader Joe's.
They are now featuring Fuerza, a 2003 Malbec from Argentina for $3.99. Very nice, very bold, great nose, nice after taste... all in all a steal. This is my type of wine buy the case.
1997 Dr. Julio and Amalia Palmaz purchased the Cedar Knoll winery in Napa, Ca. They then proceeded to build an 100,000 square-foot underground wine operation, despite neighbors protests, estimated to cost $20 million. Dr. Palmaz was internationally know for inventing the balloon-expandable coronary stent. In 2008 Palmaz Vineyards produced some 6,000 cases of Cabernet and 1,000 cases of white wines costing from $32 to $150 a bottle.

swanlinbar-Some great Zin's coming out of that area.
Your public service is very commendable!!
To all who enjoy a glass of wine... and those who don't.
As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom,
in beer there is freedom,
in water there is bacteria.
In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated
that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.
However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.
Remember: Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
than to drink water and be full of shit.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service
Had a Rancho Zabaco Lodi Zin last week Great Wine!
I've had the OZV Zin as well. Great at about the same price. Lodi is getting a pretty good rep.
Just east of Lodi
Maybe worth a trip.

I like this new vintage a lot. You usually can find it for less out there. Hope you get a chance to try it.
Sounds pretty good.
Way over my budget, but I will scrimp and save and keep my eye out for it.
lugan-3 Girls Cab. Very fruity and jammy. I think you'll like it. Around 14 bucks.
Too bad. I've never been to South Africa. Come to think of it, I've never been south of the Equator.
I think, for them, it was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure :)
Bummer!!!
Maybe they'll purchase another property.
Well guys we missed our chance...The Ashanti Vineyard has been sold and is now under new ownership. Guess we won't get to have a campout there :(
Might get a chance to start it this weekend. I'll let you know how it turns out. Of course that may not be until this time next year after it ages nicely :)
If you like pumpkin pie, you'll love the wine.
Wow...really like those names! Thanks for the tip...I'll be checking it out to see if any of those are available here.
Great idea...goblin fur! And I'll expect you and your broom here on Halloween. I'll baked a pumpkin pie 'cause you haven't tasted a great pumpkin pie till you've tasted mine.
Oh, and don't forget the ice wine :)
lugan-There is a nice pumkin wine made here in MN you may like. Very sweet.
Any desert wine, a late harvest riesling would be nice.
Susan-Some recent malbec's I've had are Writers Block, Conquista Reserve and Soluna(Fair Trade). All were good. Trivento Reserve is great, but not available here till next vintage. When you're at your wine shop, look for the malbecs from Mendoza region in Argentina.
I recommend goblin fur for the shawl. Don't worry about the broom, there's room on mine!!
Mmmmm, ice wine does sound like a good match.
I still need a shawl of some sort...'cause it's cold up this way...and a broom.
