Shares of Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE:UNP) were slammed on earnings today. The transportation company under-performing expectations, which were sky high. As the stock falls, there is a significant buying level at $123.50. This will be a key technical retrace level of support and should give the stock a significant bounce. Granted, the stock is still far away from this level, but that means it has much more downside until it is worth buying. Be patient and be ready to pounce when the chart says 'buy'.

Ethanol freight train derails, starts fire, in Iowa
Several fuel tank cars carrying ethanol burst into flames early this morning after a Union Pacific (UNP -0.3%) freight train derailed in rural Iowa.
The derailment occurred around 1 a.m. ~160 miles northwest of Des Moines, according to the local sheriff; nearby residents were asked to evacuate the area and no injuries have been reported.

Well, to each his own. Maybe you can buy more at bottom to average your holdings down. Either way, the chunk that you bought today was a poor decision in my opinion. Look at a 20 year chart of major averages (DJIA, S&P, etc) then look at a 20 year chart of UNP. We are in a major fed induced bubble in all major markets. We have NOT reached a bottom.....not by a long shot. Here's to hoping that I am wrong though. Dont trust me though.....I only work for this company and see its management errors on a DAILY BASIS.

To all of you thinking that we should be looking for a bottom, I disagree. Today and for the next few weeks is an excellent time to SHORT UNP as the entire stock is overbought due to Fed policy and low interest rates. Short it until PPS hits at least $65 PPS, then start looking for a bottom. Trust me, I am a 10 year employee of Union Pacific. Our management sucks and the entire huge appreciation was purely Federal Reserve monetary polity. The run up in Union Pacific stock was not based on merit or wise management decisions. $65 OR LESS IS THE BOTTOM. DONT LOOK FOR IT HERE.

I think as a long term investment, shares are probably fairly valued at 17 times earnings, and now could be a good time to start layering in while the dividend is at one of the highest levels it's been at over the last decade.

Watching traffic trends will be instrumental in the short term, however, and more patient investors may want to wait until things start normalizing before riding the rails with UNP.

Continued large, frequent declines could possibly change the trajectory of the company's growth story.

UNP saw its 2015 first-quarter earnings per share improve nine percent comparatively. The company’s first-quarter sales fell just slightly to $5.6 billion.

UNP in a volatility squeeze happening now market down UNP up. Wait for the break out and a run into earnings 7-24 before the market opens. GO LONG and STRONG

Anyone who thinks that this growth in the general market (including UNP stock) is sustainable is kidding themselves. The prices have been endlessly ticked up by excessive demand created by low interest rates and reckless Federal Reserve tampering with the economy. We are in a bubble. Union Pacific is a strong, excellent company however it is not above the natural correction that is going to occur and with the most recent 2/1 split worsening the problem when it does finally occur. I have my buy orders in at $35 pps, because it will be there again when the bottom falls out of this bubble.
