ORLANDO, Fla. -- Tiger Woods will conduct his first news conference in more than four months April 5 at the Masters, according to an interview schedule released Wednesday by Augusta National.



Woods, who on Sunday conducted his first interviews since a sex scandal put his career on hold, is scheduled for a 2 p.m. session with accredited media on the Monday prior to play in the Masters, his first tournament since winning in Australia on Nov. 15.



No other interviews are scheduled for that day.



The news came on the same day that golf legend Arnold Palmer suggested Woods take questions from reporters as a way to "move on."



"I suppose the best thing he could do would be open up and just let you guys [media] shoot at him," said Palmer on the eve of his tournament, the Arnold Palmer Invitational.



Woods is the two-time defending champion of the event and has won at Bay Hill six times overall. It is the first time he is skipping the tournament as a pro, as he announced last week that he would make his debut at the Masters.

Tiger Woods has summoned someone even more significant than swing coach Hank Haney to help facilitate his wildly anticipated comeback.

Two sources in the golf community told The New York Post that Ari Fleischer, the former press secretary to Pres. George W. Bush and the man who was brought in to help repair the steroid-shattered image of Mark McGwire, has been huddling with Woods, plotting a strategy for his return to golf — at the Arnold Palmer Invitational starting March 25 at Bay Hill in Orlando.

"They were in his living room this week going over a strategy for how to handle Bay Hill in two weeks," one source said.

The other source told The Post, "I would be shocked if he didn’t play the Arnold Palmer."

Palmer himself reportedly has told some close confidants that Woods is definitely playing Bay Hill. Quietly, the people running the tournament are preparing for a larger-than-usual media crush.

Meanwhile, Mark O’Meara, Woods’ longtime friend and neighbor, told Golf Channel Wednesday that he "wouldn’t be surprised" to see Woods make his anticipated return at the Tavistock Cup, a made-for-TV inter-club event on March 22-23 at Isleworth, Woods’ home course outside of Orlando.

O’Meara said the two-day exhibition matches might be a "nice way" for Woods to "ease back into the whole situation."

“It’s been a rough road the last three or four months in Tiger’s life and his family’s life,” O’Meara said. “It’s a very difficult situation. Golf is what Tiger does, and possibly part of the healing process is to get back at it.”

It appears Fleischer is a big part of helping that healing process.
Knowing he eventually has to stand before everyone publicly and take questions — something he didn’t do in that bizarrely orchestrated ramble on Feb. 19 — is why Woods sought out the advice of Fleischer, who in 2008 formed Ari Fleischer Sports Communications.

The firm, which focuses on crisis response and control, is a joint venture with IMG Sports & Entertainment. Woods is represented by IMG.

Several calls to Fleischer went unreturned and messages left for Mark Steinberg, Woods’ personal IMG advisor, also went unanswered.

IN terms of a golfer YES I think he can get it together that FAST. Now if part of his on course performance in the past was because he needed two whores shipped in every night or a club chick or all so he could relax then maybe his act may noy be ready for the course.

Both were reinstated for the 2016 and 2020 Games after a vote Friday by the International Olympic Committee. They are the first sports added since triathlon and taekwondo joined the program for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Each sport received majority support in separate votes after leading athletes and officials from both camps gave presentations, including a taped video message from Tiger Woods and other top pros. Woods has indicated he would play in the Olympics if golf were accepted for 2016.

The Rev. Al Sharpton held a press conference today to blast Tiger Woods for the lack of diversity among his mistresses. Sharpton claims that the lack of African-American women among Woods’ harem will have a negative affect on the black community, specifically young black girls.

“Why is it that a man who calls himself black can’t bring himself to cheat on his wife with a black woman?” said Sharpton, speaking to a group of supporters in Harlem. “What does it say to young black girls everywhere when you pass them over? Shame on you, Tiger Woods. What would your daddy say?”

Sharpton, who has long championed taking black women as mistresses, said that today’s black athletes need to stop neglecting black women when it comes to extramarital affairs, and should follow the examples of positive black role models such as Jesse Jackson and Martin Luther King, Jr., both of whom cheated on their wives with black women. Sharpton also stressed that cheating with African-American women would help the black community financially by giving black girls the chance to sell their stories to tabloids and gossip magazines.

Added Sharpton, “I’m not asking you to not cheat on your wives, I’m just asking you to give back to your own community.”

Add Gatorade to the list of endorsement deals that Tiger Woods has lost.

A representative for the drink, sold by PepsiCo Inc., confirmed late Friday that it had ended its relationship with the golfer, who made a lengthy public apology last week for his infidelities.

"We no longer see a role for Tiger in our marketing efforts and have ended our relationship,'' a Gatorade spokeswoman said. "We wish him all the best.''

The spokewoman said Gatorade would continue its relationship with the Tiger Woods Foundation.

She declined to say whether his contract was terminated early because of trouble with his public image.

Gatorade discontinued its Tiger Woods-brand drinks in November, a decision made before Woods' marital problems became known.

At the time, Gatorade stuck by him as a sponsor, but it too relented on Friday, becoming the third major endorsement deal the golfer has lost. AT&T Inc. and Accenture dropped Woods in the weeks following the tabloid frenzy of cheating allegations.

The companies that have stuck most closely by Woods, Nike Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. -- which have invested specifically in his athleticism -- reiterated their support last week when the golfer made his public apology.

Others, such as Procter & Gamble Co.'s Gillette and Swiss watch maker Tag Heuer, de-emphasized him in their marketing.

The CEO of Procter & Gamble said earlier this week that he doesn't know whether Woods will ever appear in another Gillette commercial, saying the company did not need the ``distraction'' of using him in its advertising.
