No, I still have my same settings, contacts, pics etc that I had before. Ask your carrier though. tmobile has a separate blackberry department with specialist so they helped answer my questions and told me where to find the download links on their site.

OK, you have the old version, the new one should be v.4.2.1107 (Platform 2.3.0.84)

I got the download links through tmobiles website. Give your carrier a call and tell them you need info getting the new BB version if ya want. It has some upgrades and a new look to it. I like it

Speaking of blackberry, check to see what version your using. They have a new one out you can download.

To check your version, go to OPTIONS the click on ABOUT. A few lines down you should see v. then some numbers that start with 4. Let me know what ya find
