There was talk about shear coming off of the US coast that was hitting the top pretty good.
I think it runs from June 1st to October 31st...non-stop...lol
I think North Carolina has just gave Earl a kick in the butt. It has just dropped to CAT 2 which means it should only hit as a CAT 1.
I have been through a couple CAT 1's in the past, some downed trees and localized flooding.
Some models have a direct hit near Halifax, most models believe it will hit Yarmouth Nova Scotia or the Province of New Brunsick.
Things appear quiet down your way for Earl.
Tommorow should be the last of the heat, you must have A/C in your house, if not I don't know how anybody can sleep when the air temp is in the 80's all night long.
All I know is that I'm waiting for a big crash
It looks like a bit of a bad weekend ahead for ya. :) Glad you prepared early. Things run out really fast. We've had a blistering summer also and sooo humid. Makes winter not look so bad. Saturday is going to be windy, but Sunday and Monday, which is a holiday, is looking great. I'll be watching to see what happens in Nova Scotia.
I remember after Wilma hit in mid October of 2005, it was almost freezing out the next night when the storm bent the jet stream, so I would figure that the storm is probably influencing the air on its way up.
Here it was winding and much cooler, where usually it is so freakin' humid you don't even want to spend 5 minutes outside...;)
I hope you sold at 43...
They diversed today....wow!
TZA down
TNA UP
This sideways market is really groooooovy!
Don't forget about mood.
Today was a mood shift, which means that bad data will be relatively ignored.
Companies are unwinding cash.
The financials sold the sell and bought granny's two shares.
Overall economic data has not been looking that great lately.
I keep waiting for Round 2 of the economic meltdown, but Helicopter Ben is here to save the world. Or is he only delaying the inevitable....
What ever happened to that European Banking Crisis anyway?
M= Major Hurricane Cat 3-5
H= Hurrciane Cat 1-2
S= Tropical Storm.
I just got back from the shops. I had to stock up on things. Water is the biggest thing for me and I would say there won't be any in the stores come morning.
I don't have city water or septic so I have to fill my bathtubs so I can flush my toilet and have water for cooking. Showers will have to be my pool pending trees don't fall on it. LOL. I have to do the same thing for winter storms.
News is saying brace for something. Could be a TS to Cat 3 depending on what happens to the South. Power is my biggest concern. The lakes behind and in front of my house could flood as well, but I have never heard of flash flooding in this area. The coastal areas are used to storm surge and often during Tropical Storms houses on the ocean get smashed with waves and rocks. I no longer live near the ocean.
Hard to believe we could be in for some bad weather when the feels like temperature has been 37-45oC (100-110oF) for the last 3 days. Air temp is in the thirties or 90's oF. Not good for sleeping weather. I am sure yourself and buckster are pros for living in these uncomfortable conditions.
I believe King is in this nasty heat as well.
That all being said I am prepared for the worst and hoping for the best, not much I can really do now but wait and see.
You may be looking at a rough weekend ahead. :) What does the M and H and S mean in this track?

I'm gonna have to get back into your picks -- they're winners!
I haven't been doing any stock trading because I'm afraid of the market right now.
The manipulation of the interest rate -- keeping the savings interest rate low to entice people to invest in the market -- the manipulation scares me.
Thanks,
The biggest problem here is the power. The area is rocky and trees fall easily in high winds. My grand parents lost 20 acres of mature trees in 2003 with Hurricane Juan.
I had two in 2004 and one in 2005, but Wilma, was nuts, probably on the high end of a Cat 2.
You can have this one....;)
I have been through a CAT 2. It was wild but not a major hurricane. It is just part of life living near the ocean.
Its a tough call on what Earl will be and if it makes a US landfall or not, hopefully it won't be a direct hit if it comes close to shore. He was upgraded to CAT 4 this afternoon.
The ocean temps on the open Atlantic here are only around 70-75oF so the chances of Earl maintaining high winds are near impossible.
Yep. You, me and King must watch this one, and it's getting bigger. I moved from Hurricane Alley to here, only to have one come right up the Chesapeake and get Baltimore. This could hit now if the course changes.
This week may get interesting for all of us on the East Coast from the Carolina's to here in Nova Scotia.
Hurricane Earl is epected to rip up the eastern Seaboard and many are expecting a Cat 1-3 to hit here where I live. That is still 4-5 days away so too soon to tell.
Buckster, looks like Florida will be left alone... this time.

Thanks
Pump sites are covering this one.
I am not going to lie to you. I check up atleast weekly on Eugene and QMIN and there has been no internet activity in a long time and this week it has exploded on QMIN.
I saw this coming and I still didn't throw any money in it. I have been burned a couple times to many.
Jim Cramer is the clown that hosts Mad Money on CNBC.
He spoke of the Hindenburg Omen as a pile of BS.
When this event has occured everytime since 1987 he claims there has been a rally. His charts prove this theory, but after the rally there always appears to be a correction lower than when the Hindenburg Omen occured.
I tried to locate the clip but CNBC may have deleted it.
This is Jim
I haven't paid for a membership so I can't PM you back, but....
I will keep an eye on the board! ;)
I think we have one more up push toward mid September myself.
However, nothing is out of the realm of possibility, but I do digress that all this economic news has heightened fear, the markets do not always follow the same route as the economy.
We are in an election year and to me that means that Democrats will come out of recess to trumpet some new waste of taxpayer dollars in the name of Obamanation....or Abomination....lol
I can't see the pinkos sitting around by while the economy crumbles down around them just blaming Republicans, which has become a very tired argument. BS Biden looked like a putz countering Boehner. Well that isn't hard for him.
I looked into the Hindenburg and it has a possible 25% accuracy rating.
I think it is time for the usual 2 week mood change as stocks will increase from here into next month.
Who is Jim Cramer....? Sounds like the guy that cuts my grass....;)
Lots of talk about the Hindenburg Omen as of late. I think the third event occured on the 24th of Aug.
Of course Jim Cramer is dismissing this theory. He and his buds must not have a short position just yet.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704540904575452013459211330.html.
I believe it is just a matter of time.
LOL...
Actually, something tells me that the D's and R's won't let this market tip into the abyss just yet.
Me thinks a whammy is in the works and news may be released either the end of this week or next week.
Otherwise Democrats will have eggs on their faces in November.
LOL...
I was just sayin'....
Of course that was last week, when we had a nice spirt. Now we are close to the neckline.
Good, had a great summer up North here, lots of sun and above average temps. Need some rain now though, grass is turning brown.
The way the US data is starting to shape up short postitions maybe the best way to go right now. I didn't think KIRK would drift this much lower. EEE is still making nice gains but it may soon be time to take some profits.
Have you thought of playing NYSE:VXZ???
Might be a good one if things get shakey.
All I can say is..... timmmmmmmmmmmberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Just hanging. Working mostly and just holding all my short positions. Gotta love that Obamanomics. Perfect for making a ton of money on the down side. How you been?
I'm still holding my boatload of TZA from $30.
Speaking of Kirk, what do you get when you cross Mr. Spock with Captain Kirk?
How is it going King?
Haven't seen you around in a while.
I have a place in the Keys. Was hoping to flip out of that one and upgrade as well.
Developers killed the market, because they built for the flippers and that is all that were really seriously buying down here in Florida.
That is ok though. After our rough and tumble markets kills of quite a bit of wealth in the general populous, I should be able to pick up an ocean front condo on the cheap in Miami in about two years or so...
;) Always a bright spot!
As far as my house is concerned...let it slide into the sea. After we hit and confirm the head and shoulders I should be able to upgrade on a short sale.
At first I laughed at your BP comment however I am sure it is not a nice feeling knowing that you owe more than the house is worth.
I have waited 3 years for it to happen here but it hasn't. Toronto and Vancouver experieced it but they are so overvalued the slight correction was to be expected.
The drop in taxes must hurt the county(municipality) budget. Government gets used to the cash and a 25% loss does not help operating expences.
That's deep. Looks like FL real estate is headed for another downturn too, depending on location.
My house in Florida is so far under water, I personally capped that BP well in the gulf.
One good thing is my taxes have been cut by almost 1/4 of what they were in 2006.
KIRK earnings disappointed on Friday, which gave the 25% decline. Target price was lowered to $19.00 by analysts.
EEE performed a R/S on Friday, the bullish trend is actually bearish and the stock has endured a 50% decline since the R/S announcement on 09 Aug 2010.
I am not sure if the tech analysis is correct, these events happened on Friday. EEE is a short term play and KIRK may be longer, as I may hold to the next earnings report.
Market value here is still going up. So is my property assessment and taxes. Interest rates have been going up as well. Our provincial tax has been increased to 15% from 13%(that is on all purchases except for non prepared food). Food keeps going up, milk in some places is $8.00/gallon and a loaf a bread is creeping up to $3.00,Boneless skinless chicken $9.00/lb.
There is hope though. Toronto housing is cooling off as interest rates rise. Gas just fell below $4.00/gallon ($0.999 per litre) for the first time in over a year.
LOL Funny. Our old EC is quite the stinker.
I think eventually banks will come back. Too many investors out there with money and nothing to do. lol But they were wrong about the recovery period. This is going to drag out for some time. I don't know if houses will ever get back to 2006 values, which is good. They were way overpriced. Stinks for us, though.
Value: Value is a measure of a stock's current worth. KIRK has a current Value of $32.45 per share. Therefore, it is undervalued compared to its Price of $12.15 per share. Value is computed from forecasted earnings per share, forecasted earnings growth, profitability, interest, and inflation rates. Value increases when earnings, earnings growth rate and profitability increase, and when interest and inflation rates decrease. VectorVest advocates the purchase of undervalued stocks. At some point in time, a stock's Price and Value always will converge.
Value: Value is a measure of a stock's current worth. EEE has a current Value of $0.14 per share. Therefore, it is overvalued compared to its Price of $1.08 per share.
LOL, he will probably bring back Harvey Westbury to sell the Albums under.
8 US banks were siezed by the FDIC this week. Soon there will not be any small US banks left.
I wonder if the future of US banking is big fish eating small fish until the only fish left are the whales.
BAC,C, along with GS and JPM.
What do you guys think of KIRK and EEE? I bought them on Friday.
Hoping for a dead cat bounce on EEE after the R/S(which I waited for) and I think KIRK may have been an over reaction to not so great financials.
LOL I laugh every time I see that. We need an email for EC to send that to on Christmas.
I will be down in the states this fall. Boston,NYC,and Florida.
Boston is nice in the fall, more like here. I imagine Florida is still green. I have been to Kissimee in March and everything was green.
I think we should send EC a copy of ECC's QYUM Christmas album for Christmas. LOL
I'd say the only color you won't see around the mine is green....
as in money green....lol
I should take another field day trip this fall to see the QYUM mine and if it's still operating. lol It's such a beautiful trip in the fall, it'd be worth it just to see the fall colors in those mountains.

The HALL is a plain jane generic board where I post stocks based on a stocks heartbeat, a simplistic method I use. It's all based on finding a stock's bottom with an anticipated rise within a few days to a week or so. No hype necessary nor tracking of winners/losers nor fancy lines, triangles, zigzags, analysis, etc. Just the heartbeat. Stocks posted will be added/removed without notice and at my own resolve. CAUTION: Some of the picks posted may already be in play and past what I consider the buy in. Please refer to the postings to see or ask if that's the case. Also, for an easy understand training of the heartbeat, I have put up 2 sticky posts, 1 that explains the stock heartbeat and 1 that has an example. It ain't prefect but it has a high level of success. And remember, always take profit because profit is profit and will always keep you in the game. And finally, one last word of caution is to always remember that the overall market can and will void out any picks during times when the market is cycling downward.
Good luck!
