The Bank is a state-chartered commercial bank, which also operates in northern California under the name Silverado Bank. From their website:

In 2003, Nevada Security Bank was reorganized into a one-bank holding company, The Bank Holdings. This decision enabled us to take advantage of the increased flexibility of a holding company.

The Bank Holdings is now the largest bank holding company in northern Nevada, and it has become a significant factor in the market. The decision to form The Bank Holdings has and will continue to enable us to provide superior returns to equity for our shareholders and provide superior financial products and services to our 'most valuable asset' -- our customers.

The Bank Holdings is the only Nevada banking company to offer full service banking in California, through Silverado Bank, a division of Nevada Security Bank. The Bank Holdings subsidiaries also include a qualified intermediary company, Rocky Mountain 1031  Exchange, which facilitates tax-deferred real estate transactions under Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code.  Qualified intermediaries select the financial institution to hold the depositor accounts created as part of the exchange transactions. Such deposits are held by Nevada Security Bank, Silverado Bank, or other FDIC insured institutions.
