seems like only a metter of time....Talon Metals has been awarded a US$2.47 million research and development contract from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to fund scientific research on new approaches for extracting nickel, cobalt, and iron from domestic nickel sulphide ores and tailings. The 15-month project will focus on the Tamarack Nickel Project, which includes a proposed underground nickel-copper mine in Minnesota and a Battery Mineral Processing Facility in North Dakota.
And, MORE good news
DOE and Talon Partnership!!
TLOFF Good news just keeps comming!!
Take a Look
TLOFF Permit will get pushed thru since all the Gov. funding and one of the only U.S. Mines not blocked by Gov. to operate....IMHO

Environmental concerns are in debate for coveted nickel needs in changing auto industry
By Bruce Walker | The Center Square May 30, 2023
The Eagle Mine in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is currently the only nickel mine in the U.S. Talon Metals Inc. is in the process of developing a second nickel mine in Tamarack, Minn. The underground Eagle Mine initially was met with widespread environmental protests before it opened fully for operation in 2014. However, in the years since the mine has come to be regarded as setting the benchmark for all future U.S. mines.
“Thus far, Eagle Mine has operated in compliance with the regulations and requirements of permits issued by EGLE under the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act,” Melanie Humphrey, senior geologist with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s Upper Peninsula Geological Repository, told The Center Square in an email. “From my perspective as an environmental regulator, Eagle Mine has been responsive and proactive to environmental issues and concerns.”
Malan said the permitting of the Eagle Mine included compliance with Michigan’s stringent environmental regulations as well as U.S. standards.
“The United States, and states like Michigan, have some of the highest standards globally for protection of environment and cultural resources, labor, human rights and participation of indigenous people,” Malan told The Center Square. “When it comes to the production of critical minerals like nickel, these high standards ensure that we can responsibly extract these minerals domestically.”
Wondering where bottom is here- I’m guessing we might be there- or almost close

Enjoyed talking with Bruce Edward Walker of @TheCenterSquare about Talon Metals Corp. conviction that there is significant potential for high-grade nickel districts in the Lake Superior region. Additional US nickel resources can help to address US current dependence on nickel imports from China, Russia and Indonesia. Balanced report that also covers concerns about mining in the region.

Yesterday, Congressman Pete Stauber, chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources, hosted five of his colleagues from the subcommittee for a hearing at the Mountain Iron-Buhl Public School Auditorium to hear from three witnesses.
The witnesses were Jessica Johnson Community Outreach and Government Relations Manager with Talon Metals Corp., Dean Peterson, Chief Geologist of Big Rock Exploration, and Joe Baltich, owner of Northwind Lodge in Ely.
It's extremely impressive that Congressman Stauber was able to pull this hearing off and host members of Congress from outside of Minnesota.

Talon Metals advancing exciting Tamarack project, one of the US's only undeveloped nickel projects
About the company
Talon Metals Corp is a TSX-listed base metals company developing the high-grade Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project located in central Minnesota. Talon has an earn-in to acquire up to 60% of the Tamarack Project, and currently owns 51% of the Tamarack Project. The Tamarack Project comprises a large land position (18km of strike length) with numerous high-grade intercepts outside the current resource area. Talon is focused on expanding its current high-grade nickel mineralization resource prepared in accordance with NI 43-101; identifying additional high-grade nickel mineralization; and developing responsible processing capabilities in the United States. Talon has a well-qualified exploration and mine management team with extensive experience in project development
Talon Metals Corp. (TSX:TLO, OTC:TLOFF) said it has intersected up to 6.93% nickel in the newly discovered Raptor Zone within the Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project in central Minnesota and has plans for further drilling in the area.
This is the latest on the timeline for permitting that I could find..
They said, with continued exploration success, they are confident their current resource estimate for the project could be met, and ultimately exceeded, without diluting grade.
“However, uncertainty remains in terms of project operating and economic metrics, with the reconfigured project, mining in Minnesota and processing in North Dakota, to be clarified during the Feasibility Study (FS) later in 2023,” the analysts pointed out.
“Should drilling define another high-grade resource with the Raptor Zone, however, we believe the FS could be pushed into 2024 as a revised and enhanced mine plan is developed.”
As such, Stifel's analysts reiterated their ‘Buy’ rating for the stock and C$0.80 price target. Talon’s shares were trading up 3% at C$0.34 on Thursday morning.

Validates that the United States hosts additional high-grade nickel and progresses towards permitting for the underground mine and processing facility to supply Tesla
Tamarack, Minnesota--(Newsfile Corp. - April 19, 2023) - Talon Metals Corp. (TSX: TLO) (OTC Pink: TLOFF) ("Talon" or the "Company"), the majority owner and operator of the Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project ("Tamarack Nickel Project") in central Minnesota, confirms the presence of high-grade nickel in the newly discovered "Raptor Zone", with grades up to 6.93% nickel intersected.
Over the past several months, Talon has been advancing its dual strategy of (i) new exploration along the Tamarack Intrusive Complex, with the primary goal of discovering additional high-grade nickel-copper resources at the Tamarack Nickel Project; and (ii) progressing the requisite drilling, data collection, modelling, and engineering studies and designs to enable Talon to commence the environmental review process that starts the permitting process in the state of Minnesota and completing a feasibility study for the Tamarack Nickel Project. Talon is also progressing planning, design and permitting of its Battery Minerals Processing Facility in Mercer County, North Dakota, which was selected by the US Department of Energy for $114m in grant funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in October of 2022.
394 views Apr 19, 2023 Talon Metals Vice President of Geology Etienne Dinel joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share news the company has announced assay results from the newly drilled Raptor Zone on the Tamarack Project in central Minnesota.
Dinel telling Proactive the Raptor Zone, which is outside the current resource, saw assays from 6 holes all intersecting basal massive nickel mineralization. The company is planning to drill 20,000 meters more in the Raptor Zone to determine if the nickel sulphide mineralization further thickens.
Permit is a major issue here. Are they going to get the permit or not?
