I agree - it sounded solid to me. Highest operating earnings on record and improving cost structure. They said any improvements in volume would flow through to the bottom line.
They are also launching a campaign to make the investment community aware of the value in the company.
Excellent conference call, imo. The company was profitable for July and August, and if things continue, the numbers for September should be good as well.... setting up for a profitable 1st qtr for fiscal 2010... glta!
this could be a very interesting couple of days for FUEL; earnings call after the close and reverse split "at a ratio of 1 share for each 4.5 shares held effective on September 30, 2009" ; the 9/15 PR also said " Because we believe that this is an opportune time for the investment community to better understand our resiliency and our future opportunities for growth, we are launching a proactive investor relations campaign to bring our story to investors across the country."

" Because we believe that this is an opportune time for the investment community to better understand our resiliency and our future opportunities for growth, we are launching a proactive investor relations campaign to bring our story to investors across the country."

This is the last post I have, I was told just to be cautious on these reverse split deals on the squeeze attempt-nevertheless as with most people here I started out with "real stocks"(not pennies), & I like this one where it's trading & their business plans for the long term, yet I don't like the overall market short term. This is sort of around it's lows & is proforma -.08 1 better than last year & it traded much higher. This leaves me on the fence. With the basic homework on this you can get a better idea wether you're in or out. IMO as everything I write I think that the worst that can happen to buyers today is a breakeven. This is an investment for those that like it. Good luck to all your trading. P. S. Try to get a response from the MOASS board- I just posted to nobody there & it's not very active.
from the 8K filed 9/15:
Following the reverse stock split, the Company expects to have approximately 8.56 million shares of common stock outstanding.
Still divide it by 4.5. I'm trying to find out about this trade now but have about 2 posts left so check my posts & the replies I get if any.
botto, btw, shortsqueeze.com has the O/S wrong... it is twice that amount..
botto, yep... I like this one... been in one like this before...
I think you're on to something massive. Go to shortsqueeze. Com put in fuel & check out the shorts & float. After this split with the inst. holders & insiders @ this price you could be in for a MOASS. This isn't my specialty but I may get in - this could be huge. Keep it low-but as you know someones gonna go screaming about this. Just remember this is just my opinion***
bottom I am in it.. bought some more today... average is .35 currently.... I may buy some more...
I like what the CEO stated, but once it trades( or if) @ much higher levels they may look for a forward split to get it more liquid. BTW I'm not in this one-wonder about shorts out there- now that could be a killer trade on a squeeze since it will be thin post rs. Worth looking up. GTLA
bottomout, I am expecting the financials to be filed soon... they may surprise..
Don't know FUEL's financials but I've seen some good stocks forced to split because they were simply way undervalued.
Atlanta1, I like this R/S ...
The Pres/CEO sure has a lot of positive things to say..
bottomout, Good call...
SMF Energy Announces Reverse Stock Split to Maintain Nasdaq Listing
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SMF ENERGY CORPORATION (NASDAQ:FUEL), a leading provider of specialized transportation and distribution services for petroleum products and chemicals, today announced that it will complete the previously announced reverse split of its common stock at a ratio of 1 share for each 4.5 shares held. The Company expects that the reverse stock split will become effective on September 30, 2009, and will result in approximately 8.56 million shares of common stock outstanding instead of the approximately 38.50 million shares currently outstanding.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090513/SMFENERGYCORPLOGO)
This action was originally approved by the Company's shareholders on November 20, 2008, but was delayed by a series of temporary exemptions from Nasdaq Marketplace Rule 5450(2) requiring a minimum closing bid price of $1.00 for listed companies. The last such exemption expired on August 3, 2009, so the Company must show compliance with Rule 5450(2) by October 15, 2009. The average minimum closing bid price of the Company's stock for the last 10 trading days has been approximately $0.41.
Richard E. Gathright, President and CEO, stated, "Besides ensuring our compliance with Nasdaq Marketplace rules, the reverse split should increase the trading price of our stock to a level that will permit our company and its stock to attract more attention from the investment community. Fortunately, it is taking place during a time of greatly improving Company operating and financial performance. It also comes on the heels of the complete restructuring of our debt and equity in the June 2009 recapitalization of the Company, as well as during a time of higher trading volumes and higher market prices for our common stock."
Gathright added, "Notwithstanding this greater visibility in the market, we continue to believe that the Company has been undervalued in the marketplace for a number of reasons, including: (1) our continued improving financial performance in spite of highly negative economic conditions, including four straight quarters of positive year-to-year comparisons as of March 31, 2009; (2) the June 2009 recapitalization that eliminated short term debt of $9.5 million, reduced our total debt by $4.5 million, increased our shareholder equity by over $4.0 million and eliminated over $1.0 million in annual interest and dividend payments; (3) the recent general stabilization of recessionary business levels, together with an increased rate of new customer additions and expanded business with some of our larger existing customers; and (4) our net margin hit a historical high of $0.25 per gallon in the March 31, 2009, quarter, reflecting further improvements in operating efficiency."
Gathright continued, "We are also pleased to report that we are currently projecting EBITDA of $4.5 million for our fiscal year ended June 30, 2009, which is very close to the range we published last year, prior to the onset of the current recession. We also expect to report a markedly reduced net loss for the fiscal year as a result of our improved performance, despite the non-recurring costs and non-cash GAAP accounting charges associated with the June 2009 recapitalization. Our financial results for the year, including EBITDA, are subject to the completion of the annual audit and the filing of our SEC Form 10-K which is expected to take place on or about September 28, 2009."
Gathright concluded, "SMF Energy has been successfully weathering the deep and painful recession which has been gripping the country. Our exceptional performance under these extraordinary circumstances has been recognized by our former debt and equity holders who participated in our recapitalization, by our major bank lender who has extended and expanded our credit facility on very favorable terms, by our customers who have continued to recognize the quality of service that we have been providing, and by the refiners and manufacturers from whom we purchase millions of gallons of fuel, lubricants and chemicals a year. Our operations are strong and we look forward to an excellent fiscal year ahead. Because we believe that this is an opportune time for the investment community to better understand our resiliency and our future opportunities for growth, we are launching a proactive investor relations campaign to bring our story to investors across the country."

Stockpreacher just had a PR about my friend EESO,
very niiiice!
Well, I'm thinking this stock is about to run like crazy today. Hototc.com and Otc-Advisors.com both sent me e-mails last night.
This should be interesting...
what the hell is going on over here... everyones slamming this thing down my throat today!
Got an email from a diff. Promoter. I may pull to a buck but a rs looks more likely. Should go up mon. No matter what 'cause i really don't think it' a cash raising type of promo. Could be a good trader.
Well if you want to be technical, Mr.AIG3, then lets get the facts straight. You said they were hired for one week, right? Well this week started on the 24th and FUEL opened up @ .44 and hit a high of .495 that same day on 760,000 shares. WOW. SOME PUMP! Those guys must be paid pretty heavy for all that pumping they did!
Anyway, most traders subscribe to some kind of newsletter or awareness website to keep them up to date with what others are doing. I mean, isn't that the reason you are here?
I guess I'll never understand how increased vol due to many people seeing a stock in a short period of time, can be considered a "PUMP".
And yes, you crack me up.
No jump? .40 to .486 with no news other than the 'weekly pick' from the penny website. Your right, didnt jump at all...
I love when people say pump and dump. The funny thing is, this stock didn't jump in price at all. How is this a pump? Anyway, you have to realize when newsletters / websites send out info to thier subscribers, people look at the company may want to buy it. Wouldn't that be advertising? I mean really really think about it. You crack me up.
No wonder?, we've seen this before. What we never know is what Broker these companies use?.......I doubt its E-trade considering they were fined $36m a few months ago for front running.........Knight Capital on any number of occassions should have been suspended from trading, but as opposed to the regulators doing this they are either fined or the regulators go after the individuals of the company. What we need to see are some MM's getting their licenses revoked, fined and jailed, they operate with almost impunity, and if any are guilty for stacking the trades its these guys. When they are hired to sell S-8's or 504's they do everything they can to see these companies raise the cash at the buyers expense. Its boiler room tactics, like you said, $60,000 does wonders for stoking the fires.
FUEL paid coolpennystocks.com $60,000 for a one week "selected pick", thats why your seeing ELEVATED volume. Tomorrow should jump decent and its already up .08 in after-hours trading. JUST ANOTHER PUMP AND DUMP.
I don't know Bull, its been stuck down in this range for a long time, I once thought the company may have had some real possibilities then lost hope. The dilution factor came into play and when things began to look a little to iffy I stopped following it..........I need to give it a look when I get an opportunity.........this summer has been a challenge with so many things I fell behind on......I should soon be catching up.
unexpected vol... News... None.
Is there life in this old stock??? Looks like somethings brewing... I'll watch.

I just saw in a past pr regarding compliance with NASDAQ they were talking about a reverse split. Is there any word on this that anyone knows of?I am not too fond of RS and I am kicking myself for not seeing this earlier.
Stocks tend to move on speculation in this market. Hopefully, investors will be speculating that the company with see a surge in revenue due to the storms that are projected to hit the US or have already hit.
Time to move the team to the East now. Catch a hurricaine!
SMF Energy Deploys Its Emergency Response Team to Louisiana in Support of Hurricane Gustav Relief Efforts
9/2/2008 FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla
SMF Energy Corporation, (FUEL), a leading provider of specialized transportation and distribution services for petroleum products and chemicals, confirmed today that it has deployed its emergency response teams to Louisiana to support relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav. In addition, the Company announced plans are in place to respond to Hurricane Hanna and Tropical Storm Ike, as well as any other tropical disturbances along the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Seaboard between now and the end of November when the official hurricane season ends. Richard E. Gathright, President and CEO, commented, "Roughly 17% of Louisiana is without power (in the aftermath of Gustav) impacting many critical services needed by the residents of this state. We have deployed a number of emergency response teams from our facilities in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina and Texas to assist in the recovery efforts. As in the past, our plans call for the reconfiguration of delivery routes, added shifts and the redeployment of equipment to affected areas in order to supply needed fuels in support of emergency vehicles, power generators and relief service providers who rely on us for assistance." Gathright concluded, "SMF Energy Corporation has a 24 year long history of being a first responder when natural disasters strike and, from all early indications, we are again facing an extremely busy and potentially devastating storm season. Our contingency plans are in place, and we are ready to respond quickly whenever and wherever a potential natural disaster strikes vital infrastructure or services in our operating areas."
something that the u.s. has not experienced is back to back hurricanes of devastating proportion. there is a tropical depression heading out nw into the atlantic off the coast of africka today. it is expected to become a hurricane in the next 24 hours I think. more warm water and time to strenghen as it approaches the u.s. coast. This could become a super monster. gustav is begining to power up as it moves into the gulf.
The hurricane is starting to remind me of how Katrina started; which I am very familiar with as we were supposed to move to NO 2 days before it hit. Funny thing is we have been thinking about going back before this huricane. Hopefully, everything is ok. Anyways, I think one problem with FUEL is that there is no major buying pressure. We need more people to become aware of this one. With Gustav coming towards the US and than another one starting to rev up right behind it, FUEL could become very busy.
Yes I think that you are right. I dont own fuel at the moment but I am watching it.
saw it on houston news channel last may. the city has developed an evacuation plan that includes moblie diesel fueling vehicles.
traffic jams were so bad last evacuation. trucks and vehicles running out fuel was a major problem. Also when the electrical power goes out, so do the fueling stations. imo, This is good play that may be getting overlooked by a lot of traders.
good luck to everyone.
Indeed, that excerpt referring to generators etc says that their services may be in demand, in an unfortunate scenario. Also, no they don't produce fuel. They should maybe get into the terminal bisuness, (like ADNY).
So if something bad does happen with this storm, they might get contracts for their service.
Taken from FUEL website:
Emergency Response Services
"Our emergency response generator services program provides customers with ongoing fuel testing, treatment, filtration and top-off services to ensure that generators and other emergency power supply systems are fully fueled and that the fuel is in optimal condition for use at the onset of power outages. We then provide emergency fuel supplies to these customers for their generators and emergency power supply systems in a series of scheduled deliveries for the duration of power outages based on the consumption and utilization requirements of these systems."

They do not produce fuel though, correct?
Ok, thanks. That's something new for me, lol, never considered FUEL a hurricane play but it makes sense.
I would have to say the rise today was due to the hurricane approaching and the conversion of shares. I would watch this one in the next week or so especially to see what the hurricane does. I am holding a small position that I bought today. I feel it held well in the .60's I figured it would have dropped back down by the end of the day. I do believe it is a positive that we held in the .60's today.
