it is gud...even better with mashed taters, but since ure gonna be low-carbing u should omit them.
Lets see, I've got 20-lb of spuds to eat up or give away .... Leftover pizza in freezer .... 5 loaves of NOT-whole Wheat-bread and the rest of the white-onions.... Three pkgs Bologna, 5 pkgs hot-dogs, 3 pkgs bacon & some Polish sausage ... HELL, I ain't gotta chance.... !!
Lucky you, HARR!!! Hey, it's all about individual taste, that's why I like cooking.
Just Me,
Gary
Don't like the taste of canola oil ...??. Guess I'm not aware of the difference....
Larry, try both! I'm trying to stay off of the white drugs, i.e. starches, I also hate the taste of canola oil.
I've also got a couple of cabbages in the refrig.... Was thinking of dipping cabbage into egg-batter flavored with garlic salt or onion salt.... VERY low amount of salt, tho ... I'm using Canola-Oil....
Edit .... after dipping cabbage in egg batter then I would try frying ....
Tnx, lois .... I knew you would have a good idea.....
Hi Georgia Bard! Are low carb' recipes acceptable here?
Gary
Whoops... Sorry LoDi, he has to ways to cook it now. i have cooked it your way many times as well. I was on a low fat diet for about a year or more a ways back.
Loves That Cabbage!
Gary
Hi Larry... Start with about a 1/4 of a large head of cabbage chopped into whatever size you wish, I chop mine in 3/4 –1 ½ pieces, now get a pan real hot, Add oil, wait a few seconds, throw in chopped cabbage and stir-fry, as soon as it's a little limp looking and the whiter parts are looking somewhat translucent add garlic powder, pepper and Johnny's Seasoning Salt, stir for a few seconds to get spices warm so their oils release and throw it a bowl, it's ready!
I buy the biggest ‘firm & heavy’ heads of cabbage that I can find, I discard the outer leaves, usually two. I usually get about 4 servings per head, and that's a good sized bowl, maybe some would get 5-6 servings per head, but I'm One-Big-Boy, LOL!!!
I use about 1/8-1/4 cup of corn oil, corn oil has a higher burn rate than just vegetable oil, I guess you could use a non-sick pan, but I use cast aluminum.
BTW, I would have found you sooner but I was looking for a Low Carb’ board, This is the Low Fat board, and low carb’ cooking uses a lot of oil, which buy the way is very good for your skin and will help you stay looking younger longer, HARRR!!!!!
Is this Off Topic? I don't wish to offend.
Enjoy!!!
best way to do is fry it in chicken broth and add onion. u can pick up a can at the grocery store, any flavor or any degree of sodium you wish.
Awwww, she spoils you rotten, but you're on a leash.... tee, hee ....
I think any board like this is helpful to the community as a whole. Since I am not allowed in the kitchen perhaps mrs wantobe will have fun here tryin to look at stuff to torture me with.
Yeah, but since I've stopped playin basketball, I've had a hard time exercising and picked up a few lbs.... Gotta wait on the Mc dees...
My bad, Gary ... Guess I assumed we would be talking lo-carb here, since Matt brought up the subj.... Anyway, that's where I'm at @ this time ....
ohhhhhh no! I love my mc dees.
How doya fry cabbage ... ?? . Going to get serious on the lo-carb diet .... Everything I like, has ooodles of carbs ...
Best wishes for success with your board Georgia Bard!!!

Low Carb & Almost Instant, Fried Cabbage!!! I keep a couple of heads in the frig' I have it often.
FWIW... A year of the low fat diet is what turned me into a diabetic, be careful!
With Atkin's I lost 300 pounds and no longer need insulin, and yes I said 300, I was 700, now 400, 180 pounds to go!
Gary
