I have read the reasons you post as to why the business failed. This doesn't address the issue as to why I purchased shares. I purchased shares because the salesperson lied to me. I was told that Rapidscan was 99% funded in 2006, and that it would close to investments in a few days. I asked the salesperson, and read to them parts of the Deficit Reduction Act. They told me this would not affect Rapidscan.
I was told to expect a 50% return, starting in a couple of months. I heard nothing from Rapidscan, and my calls were not returned. I posted the original disparaging email on Morningstar because what I had been told had not happened, and my attempts at communication were ignored.
I believe that it is quite possible that you were sincere with this business attempt. What you do not realize is that the sales team you hired lied to investors in order to get people to invest. That is fraud.

Hello Can you please email me if you have invested with this company. I had rolled over my 401k in 2006 promised returns 14-18 percent Jay kahane and Jarid friedman were the guys. I would love to personally speak to them as oppose to on the phone. They have managed to brush me off with saying they are doing really well but I have not seen a dime. This is F**king ridiculous. I never resort to voilence but these pricks need to be dragged into the street and beaten till they give us a real answer. I am having to pay companies out of my pocket on the investments I have not seen.

1) The General Partner of Mobile Imaging Systems, LP (MIS) is Mobile Medical Imaging, Inc. (MMI) of Carson City, Nevada. MMI was the General Partner of a predecessor partnership named RapidScan Imaging, LP (RSI). RSI fell victim to the following unfortunate incidents hindering its continued growth and eventual sustainability.
a. The Introduction of the “Deficit Reduction Act of 2007.”
b. Negative online publicity on online forums, eliminating any potential new investor subscriptions.
c. The Company image was tarnished due to negative online publicity. Thus damaging the company’s credibility and making it impossible for RSI to secure contracts with hospitals.
2) Mobile Imaging System’s business objectives are to operate mobile diagnostic imaging facilities that serve small to medium sized hospitals and physician groups that do not have the financial means to purchase and operate their own diagnostic imaging facilities.
3) There have been past posts placed on Morningstar.com regarding the affiliation of RapidScan Imaging, LP and Mobile Imaging Systems, LP. It is true that the General Partner Mobile Medical Imaging, Inc. is involved in both partnerships and both partnerships utilize the exact same business model. This was a necessity due to the negative publicity that RapidScan faced, making it nearly impossible for RapidScan to secure contracts with hospitals or to raise additional funds to maintain operations. Due to these circumstances, RapidScan has paved the way and cleared some major hurdles for the creation, operation and continued expansion of Mobile Imaging Systems, LP.
4) Mobile Imaging Systems has had a very exciting year and we look forward to many more exciting achievements to come in the New Year. Below are some major milestones and objectives that the Company achieved since its establishment in February 2007.
a. In November 2007, the Company purchased a “GE GoldSeal Advanced PET NXi” mobile scanner with trailer. The company has leveraged a major interim opportunity in the market to begin generating immediate revenues, building the Company’s financial stability. The company is still pursuing its initial objective of purchasing a “GE Discovery ST PET/CT” scanner with trailer.
b. In September 2007, the Company hired a Director of Business Development. This team member is responsible for line operations in business development, operations and marketing the Company’s services.
c. In September 2007, the Company hired a Director of Clinical Services who’s duties will include responsibility for clinical, strategic and administrative operations for the Company. nothing yet, I think you're right, we'll never hear from them again.
It really irks me because in theory it is a fantastic idea. I'm familiar with the technology and the costs associated with buying the equipment, but that's only the beginning as construction can cost anywhere from $1-$4M and annual service contracts on the machine are about $250k so most smaller hospitals just cannot afford it and wouldn't have enough demand to justify it anyway. A mobile system that comes once a week or once every 2 weeks is ideal.
I wish I had the connections and capital to do something like this in Canada!
I doubt you'll get a callback. When I mentioned the complaints I read about rapidscan to the sales rep at mobile imaging systems, he told me he never heard of rapid scan. He was going to call the owner directly and get right back to me to clear up any confusion. That was almost 2 weeks ago.
I just about invested in MIS recently. I signed up through a professional fundraiser, sent my cheque and was told that the coach would be on the road in the next few weeks and they have all the financing in place so I could only get 3 shares. He then called back and said it takes 4 weeks for a Canadian cheque to clear, could I wire the money instead. I got a little nervous about that and asked them to return my cheque first and then did some digging. I found this board and have just told Leonard that I've changed my mind about investing. He's going to call Jay Kahne right now and talk to him about RapidScan and the fact that people have been investing for at least 2 years with no updates or anything to show for it. I'll let you know what I find out.

Hello all -- This is my first post.
Yes, I too invested 25K in Mobile Imaging Systems, aka RapidScan, in July, 2007. I was repeatedly told before I invested that I should start receiving 'distributions' on my investment no later than 10/31/2007. This time came and went, but I didn't become worried about the legitimacy of my investment/MobileImagingSystems until mid-November 2007. A few days ago I looked again at their website (www.mobileimagingsystems.com), specifically at the Investors Relations link, and after trying to log in, I got a computer syntax error.
So I finally got a 'General Partner' to call me back after I placed a few calls to MIS's 1-877# (turns out to be nothing more than an answering service). I expressed my concern, that I hadn't heard anything, nada, and I had been promised ...etc. This 'General Partner' told me that they had a lot of exciting things going on, and they were in the process of dotting the i's and crossing the t's (paraphrasing here) on some of the contracts and the equipment itself.
He promised to call me later, or have someone else call me from Investor Relations. We'll see.
I did mention to him that some sort of information/updates would be nice ... I mentioned perhaps a financial statement? I was told, rather rudely, that how can they supply a financial statement when they haven't started creating revenue yet. So I pressed and asked for some sort of update, newsletter, e-mail, something .... I was told again that this person had a teleconference to go to and he would try and call me later.
Again, as I said, we'll see.
So here's 3 questions for all: (Please post answers public)
1. Has anyone invested with Mobile Imaging Systems (apparently RapidScan is the predecessor of MIS) in the last year, and if so, have you seen any return yet, had any communications from MIS regarding the status of your investment?
2. Does anyone know how I can pull my investment (SS) out of MIS? If I don't get some results fairly soon, I'll have to consider this as an option. I mean, come on, a multi-million dollar venture such as this, and they can't even seem to provide updates?!
3. Isn't it true that MIS will have to file some sort of financial paperwork with the IRS this year, and if so, as an investor in this LP, aren't I too allowed to view such?
Any comments/help would certainly be appreciated!
Just wanted to thank people who posted about Rapid Scan LP and Medical Imaging LP both based out of Nevada. Your posts prevented me from investing in either company. Kudos for this board!!!

I, too, invested with RapidScan last summer and have yet to see any return on my investment. I know what you mean about an updated newsletter - I'd sure like to know what the latest information is. It appears to be a good product, but getting it in production appears to be lengthy.

Hi. A coworker and I invested also. We got in last year around June/July. Same deal, we haven't heard anything from anyone.
I'd like to see the newsletter on the web page updated. It's still on May. At least we can find out what's going on there, if they'd update it.
It was uplifting to see the post that Jay had mentioned rolling out in September-that's next month. Boy, that gives me hope. I'd like to try to contact- them but with my luck, I would end up verbalizing with Shawn.
I think this is an excellent product. Unfortunately we had a major roadblock thrown in our way. Hopefully we're on the final stretch before deployment.

Yes invested in january of 2006 when did they say they will be up and running? i heard from then a couple of months ago that they are still working on the project. It just takes a lot of time it seems.

Yes, I have experience with them. I invested 20K with them in September of 2006. They told me that the imaging center would be up and running in October 2006, and that I should start recieving monthly checks then. They predicted a first year return of 15%, and after a return of 50%.
Since I didn't hear any news from them, I started calling at the begginning of November. I've been calling for 2 1/2 months, and no one has returned my calls. I have recieved no checks. I'm beginning to wonder what's going on with this company, and what the future holds.

It turns out that Rapidscan had an incorrect email on file for me, so I did not receive the email updates on the delayed launch of the imaging center. Now I have been thoroughly updated and am back in the communications loop.
My faith has been restored, and I am optimistic of the prospects of this investment again!

I am familiar with CT/PET scanning equipment...I have worked on a proforma for such a business. I can tell you that most of the private deals are not via solicitations like this one.
Most of the private deals like this are directed to physician investors.
I don't see any installations mentioned on their web site.
The Self Directed IRA information was a tactic heavily used in the real estate runup recently...
If someone has contacted you about putting your money into developing a private PET/CT scanning business, I would make sure you know the people involved very well... before putting a red cent into it. And by that, I mean run personal background checks on the individuals.
This market was very hot about 5 years ago. Most of the potential physician investors are into deals already. Be careful.
