throughout his long life.
SWAT officials are going to need to explain why they believed
gunning down this man was necessary.
Given his age, it’s quite possible he was ill, confused or
scared.

As the beat of the war drums reaches its crescendo, one former
lawmaker warns that any attack on Syrian government forces
will make the United States the ally of al-Qaeda.
In an interview with The Hill, former congressman Dennis Kucinich
(D-Ohio) said that should President Obama green-light an air
strike in Syria,
the U.S. military would “become Al Qaeda’s air force.”
“This is a very, very serious matter that has broad implications
internationally.
And to try to minimize it by saying we’re just going to have a
‘targeted strike’ —
that’s an act of war.
It’s not anything to be trifled with,” Kucinich said,
as quoted in The Hill.
President Obama said Friday that if he approved a U.S. military
strike on Syria, it would be “narrow” and “limited.”
Kucinich’s comments are similar to those made on Capitol Hill by
Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) earlier this year.
“This is an important moment.
You will be funding, today, the allies of al Qaeda,”
Paul said during a hearing in May of the Senate Foreign Relations
Committee.
Paul’s comments were directed at his colleagues, nearly all of
whom voted to send arms to Syrian rebels.

Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff,
said the Obama administration is deliberating whether or not it
should use the brute of the US military in Syria during a Thursday
morning Senate hearing.
Gen. Dempsey said the administration was considering using
“kinetic strikes” in Syria and said “issue is under deliberation
inside of our agencies of government,” the Associated Press
reported from Washington.
Dempsey, 61, is the highest ranking officer in the US military and
has been nominated by Pres. Obama to serve a second term in that
role.
The Senate Armed Services Committee questioned him Thursday
morning as part of the nominating process when Dempsey briefly
discussed the situation in Syria.

Dr. Rand Paul is the junior United States Senator for Kentucky. There are many in Washington who give lip service to the Second Amendment, but vote to restrict gun ownership once they begin serving in public office. Gun control laws only restrict access to responsible gun ownership. High risk individuals will still be able to acquire firearms even with an increase in prevention. I do not support any proposed gun control law which would limit the right to gun ownership by those who are responsible, law-abiding citizens.
Politicians often give lip service to the 2nd Amendment but then go off to Washington and vote to restrict gun ownership. We need to send people to Washington that not only understand the 2nd amendment but the entire Bill of Rights.
How many supposed pro-gun politicians voted for the Patriot Act which gives the government the right to search your home without a warrant, when you're not home, leave listening devices, and use any and all information to create a prosecution on any charge regardless of their original reason for the search?
Gun rights advocates need to know that the 2nd amendment is only as good as the fourth amendment. If we are not free from unreasonable and warrantless searches, no one's guns are safe.
As your Senator, I plan to remain vigilant and fight against infringements on our 2nd Amendment rights.
