ISIS beheads two Syrian women for charges of sorcery and witchcraft - TomoNews

DEIR EZZOR, SYRIA — ISIS militants have publicly beheaded two women.
The women were executed along with their husbands in
Deir Ezzor, Syria under charges of sorcery and witchcraft.

ISIS has been known to stone women to death and
has also beheaded female Kurdish soldiers who
were already dead, but this is reportedly
the first case of civilian women being executed
in this fashion.

Reports from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights
say that the executions were held publicly on
al-Takaya street, and eight people were publicly
crucified for charges that include banditry,
involvement in the drug trade, and failure to fast
during the holy time of Ramadan.

Public executions are meant to instill fear in those
who oppose the radical Islamist group, which is currently
celebrating the one-year anniversary of the beginning
of their "caliphate."
