Boom times predicted for ‘defense’ contractors as Democrats take the House. The CEO of Raytheon tells an audience that the Democrats are unlikely to care about the budget, and so billions more in taxpayer funds will continue to flow freely to Defense contractors
Smart people work there. $230-235/share within 2 quarters, regardless of who's in WhiteHouse. I worked w/Raytheon's engineers ordering our communications amplifiers, also LockheedMartin & Darpa - some of the smartest people on planet Earth. The products aren't "humane" but necessary to maintain peace. One, though not main reason I buy stocks in such companies, despite slow/not too volatile/not "exciting", big companies, is their people designing amazing products, envied by rest of world. Marijuana can jump around but with Raytheon I sleep better knowing won't wakeup to a disastrous loss like fools who bought Bitcoins nor will I get rich " quick", RTN is rather steady rise in shareprice, esp. guaranteed in current unstable world with flaring conflicts, from Korea to whatever else. Demand for Raytheon's products will stable or rise, like it or not, military.conflicts aren't going away.
Know This Trade Level For This Major Defense Stock
Most of the leading defense stocks topped out in late April 2018. Since that pivot top, many of the leading stocks in the defense sector have declined by 10.0 percent or more. Raytheon Co (NYSE:RTN) is a stock that has now caught my eye. This stock is now testing its 200-day moving average. A failure to hold this key support level should signal another decline in the stock. The next major support area that will come into play will be around the $188.00 level. This is where RTN stock broke out of a sideways base in January 2018. A retest of this important level will likely be defended by the institutional money crowd. This is where I would look to enter a long position in the name. Some other leading defense companies that I follow include Lockheed Martin Corp(NYSE:LMT), General Dynamics Corp (NYSE:GD) and Northrop Grumman Corp (NOC:NYSE). These defense stocks are also on my radar for trading opportunities.

$RTN $178.19 Lockheed, Raytheon each win $900M nuclear cruise missile contracts
Aug. 23, 2017 7:14 PM ET|By: Carl Surran, SA News Editor
Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) and Raytheon (NYSE:RTN) are awarded initial contracts of $900M each by the U.S. Air Force to begin development of a new nuclear cruise missile for long-range bombers.
The initial contracts cover a four-and-a-half year phase to refine designs and prove out technologies for the Long-Range Standoff missile; the Air Force later will pick one of the contractors for full production of as many as 1,000 missiles - not all of them topped by nuclear warheads - in an acquisition phase valued at ~$10B.
The decision is a defeat for Boeing (NYSE:BA), which in the 1980s developed and fielded the AGM-86B Air Launched Cruise Missile now in use.

RTN Awards IAALF F/A-18 Fighter Contract
IBC Awarded Contract from Raytheon to Produce a Beralcast® Component for the F/A-18 Fighter Jet’s ATFLIR System
FRANKLIN, IN IBC Advanced Alloys Corp. (TSX-V: IB; OTCQB: IAALF) (“IBC” or the “Company”) a leading beryllium and copper alloys company, announced today that it has been awarded a production contract from Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (NYSE: RTN) to produce a beryllium-aluminum cast component for use in Raytheon’s Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared (ATFLIR) system, currently in use on U.S. Navy F/A-18 fighter jets.
Terms of the contract were not able to be disclosed, although IBC expects to produce this part for Raytheon over multiple years. The part is a precision cast pitch gimbal housing for the ATFLIR system and is produced from IBC’s proprietary Beralcast® beryllium-aluminum material.
Beralcast® is more than three times stiffer than aluminum with 22% less weight, and can be precision-cast to simple and complex configurations. The material is very lightweight with a high modulus of elasticity and can be precision cast for three-dimensional stability. Beralcast® is ideally suited for aerospace applications, certain demanding semiconductor manufacturing equipment, computer components, and other commercial uses, and allows for a near-net shape to be cast for maximum manufacturing efficiencies.
Raytheon's Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared pod is a multi-sensor, electro-optical targeting pod incorporating thermographic camera, low-light television camera, target laser rangefinder/laser designator, and laser spot tracker that has been flight tested on all F/A-18 models. It delivers pinpoint accuracy and reliability for air-to-air and air-to-ground mission support, and assures mission success by integrating advanced EO and IR sensors with one of the most powerful lasers on the market. ATFLIR can locate and designate targets day or night at ranges exceeding 40 nautical miles and altitudes surpassing 50,000 feet, outperforming comparable targeting systems. As a powerful net-enabler, it can pass tracking and targeting information to other nodes in the networked battlespace with the speed and precision.

$ RTN. Raytheon takes next step toward defining Multi-Object Kill Vehicle concept.
TUCSON, Ariz., Nov. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) completed the first Program Planning Review with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency on the future Multi-Object Kill Vehicle (MOKV) concept, a key step toward defining critical aspects of its design.
Raytheon Company is developing a Multi-Object Kill Vehicle that will simultaneously defeat a number of ballistic missile threats in space. The company's cutting-edge approach represents the next generation of technology in kill vehicles.
The milestone is a critical part of the Concept Development Phase. It's designed to ensure Raytheon is aligned with the MDA's expectations and on track for a Concept Review in December.
"Emerging threats demand a new engagement paradigm – one the Raytheon team is able to fully support with our depth of experience and breadth of capability," said Dr. Thomas Bussing, vice president of Advanced Missile Systems. "We're leveraging decades of experience across four kill vehicle programs and vast tactical weapon expertise across every domain and mission area to meet this critical need."
As part of the $9,775,608 contract awarded in August 2015, Raytheon will define an operational MOKV concept. The MOKV will destroy several objects by utilizing advanced sensor, divert and attitude control and communication technologies.
Design work on Raytheon's MOKV concept is occurring in the Advanced Missile System's product line, an industry-leading technology and innovation hub. Current Raytheon-built kill vehicles are built in the world-class, one-of-a-kind Space Factory, which has been called a national asset. Between the Standard Missile-3 and Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle programs, Raytheon has achieved more than 30 intercepts in space - far more than any other company.

$ RTN. U.S. Air Force awards Raytheon a $393 million contract for ISR mission support.
ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga., Oct. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) will continue mission support for the U.S. Air Force's Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) under a new $393 million contract.* DCGS is the service's primary intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) analysis tool. Over the last decade, Raytheon has ensured high levels of performance for these critical ISR systems, while generating tens of millions in cost savings.
Under the new contract, Raytheon will continue to sustain, maintain and ensure operational availability of platforms and legacy systems that produce actionable intelligence for the Air Force. These systems collect, process, analyze and disseminate data collected by sensors aboard the Air Force's ISR platforms — U-2, RQ-4 Global Hawk, MQ-1 Predator, MQ-9 Reaper and MC-12.
"This award recognizes Raytheon's strong performance in delivering mission support solutions and significant cost savings," said Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS). "We clearly understand the importance and our responsibility to sustain and maintain this critical capability for our armed forces."
The DCGS contract was awarded by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and directly supports the 25th Air Force, part of the U.S. Air Force's Air Combat Command.
"Raytheon's product-agnostic approach to sustainment and maintenance led to significant cost savings for the Air Force over the last decade," said Todd Probert, vice president at Raytheon IIS' Mission Support and Modernization. "In times of budgetary constraints, Raytheon is especially focused on working with our customers to identify the most efficient solutions while leveraging our deep expertise to provide assured mission performance for the warfighter."
Raytheon IIS has captured more than $2.2 billion in Air Force mission support contracts so far this year, including a U.S. Air Force space launch range contract and a NORAD contract for a variety of operations services.

$ RTN. TOW 2A RF missiles successfully fired from helicopter.
TUCSON, Ariz., March 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In the first of its kind launch, Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) fired tube-launched, optically-tracked, wireless-guided (TOW®) 2A radio frequency (RF) practice missiles from an AH-1W Cobra attack helicopter during a December exercise.
Raytheon, working with the Naval Air Systems Command, fired two TOW 2A RF practice missiles at ranges exceeding 2600 meters. The two tests verified the missile's capability to be fired from a hovering aircraft and from an aircraft maneuvering to a threat. Both missiles hit their targets within inches of the aimpoints.
"Wire-guided TOW missiles have been fired from helicopters for years," said Michelle Lohmeier, vice president of Raytheon's Land Warfare Systems. "These shots demonstrate RF capability to be fired off platforms used with wired TOWs without modifications."
The TOW 2A RF missile is designed to be compatible with all TOW launch systems with no changes to the gunner's actions. While TOW RF is routinely fired from ground platforms, it had not been fired from an airborne platform until now.
"Airborne TOW has always been an integral part of combined-arms operations such as coastal defense missions," said Lohmeier. "These shots demonstrate that TOW 2A RF is fully capable of defeating modern threat targets and will be a viable asset of a nation's arsenal for the foreseeable future."
