I think the problem is the company was carrying over $2 billion in goodwill on their balance sheet. In bankruptcy, goodwill counts as nothing. This immediately puts the company in a negative net worth situation. The companys assets are pledged to the lender of the $1 billion (Debtor In Possession). The equity at this time is very far out of the money. While the shares are carrying some worth at the present, IMO not even all the bondholders will get paid. A good clue is to see where they companys bonds are trading (cents on the dollar). Generally you will probably need to see all the bonds trading in the 90 cent or better range for the equity to have any chance at all.
quebecor on the canadian exchange has about a half million in volume and every time I look there is a buy at .28. Yesterday it traded about 2 million. I think we are close to the bottom. we have been trading around .28 for about a week. I think this is getting ready to move on up. Wish it would start soon though. JMHO
I have just never seen a stock trade at the ask and the ask drops like this one. I mean ever so slightly but most trades today have been at the ask and the ask just drops once again. I just dont get it.
almost 6 billion in revenues. 1 billion dollar funding, about 132 million shares outstanding and this stock is trading at .27. Qbrwf just recieved .13 cents per share to bail itself out. I just dont get it. 2 months ago it was over $8.00. This company filed for BK protections then got the funding. Crazy this stock is not trading over a buck. I would think it would be trading back towards 8 bucks but nope it heading southward. I just have to believe this is way undervalued. Guess time will tell. I M hoping to hit a buck though, very soon. Guess we need news that things are working out ok for qbrwf.
iqw or quebecor on the tsx, canadian exchange is about the same share price but has over a million shares traded.
JC Penney renewed their catlogue printing contract with Quebecor this past week. Three year deal until 2010. Also, the Bollingbrook facility is running the biggest mail production run they have ever done this week. Seems like this company is set up to recover well.
well for some reason except for the last couple days of super light volume. the thing that I noticed is that when the trade appeared to go off at the ask the bid always dropped. Now this share price is down to high 20's and seem to stopp there. This could go above .50 in just a few minutes. Something just does not seem right here. Its being walked down for some reason and I think its to allow the Market makers to load up for the run. They have to make their money u know. It took off from .10 to .60 in a couple days. so the walk down is very typical. The market makers will create volume here shortly. Simply by increasing the bid. watch and see. JMHO but I think its going to run to over a buck even with no news.
I know you would think with a billion in loan money it would have been a $1.00 instant.
Look at Delta, TRW, Stelco, Capone, they all stayed over a buck for most of BK.
This company is in good shape compared to the ones I had mentioned. Very odd trading.
I really thought this would be trading and stay over a buck. this stocks volume has basically dried up. NOt really many sellers now either. Its just interesting to see buys at the ask and then the bid always drops. I just cant figure this one out. Hoping for a mini rally cuz I purchased in the mid .40's. I still think this should be trading around 2 bucks easy. Just a few months ago it was over $8 dollars and we just got a billion dollars in funding. This is a bit odd. I realize the BK is a dark shawdow but it also can be very good. Time will tell I guess.
Looks like we recover now , looking for some deal or interested party.
Bay street must have some info to be buying back in.
I totally agree with you.
I think this is finally going to begin to move back up. Set at about .027 on the bid for a couple hours and no sellers. MM's moving this one back into the .30's. This should be trading around a buck at least short term. JMHO
Good price to grab some if you can. maybe tomorrow.
We all know the shares will be worthless in about a year but there still is a big run to a buck I'm betting on.
I think it would have been in the best interests of the big guys to have let this find its way back to dollars before pulling the plug only to run it again. its too early in the game for what they did especially with 1 billion backing this.
Stelco was dead in the water from the start and it held the $1.00 mark for most of its BK.
I didn't see anyone wanting to give Stelco money until they agreed to wipe out the shares. Even with historical quarters.
No, no, no. This is another ISBL for you. Worse.
After doing my DD´s in here I decided to go in very big here. That means i own a 7 digit amount here now. There are a lot of riscs but I found out a lot of support from different sides.
So this will become something I did long time ago at Alstom in France as well.
I hope I am as lucky as I was there. Look at Alstom today...and i followed the resplit there too
GNOTE but just in case i placed an order for 5k shares at .25
lets see what happens...we need luck !
PPS sure shows it !
Who is Socrates Kokalis?
American magazine "Forbs" published a list of 538 businessmen who possess more than $1 billion and gave Mr. Kokalis 421st place estimating his wealth to $1.6 billion
By Milorad Ivanovic
Greek investments on the Balkans can be described like an offensive combining political and business interests. Talking about the moves of Greek businessmen led by billionaire Socrates Kokalis, leader of Macedonian Patriotic Organization Metodi Dimov said: "The main difference between Greek and Bulgarian politics toward Macedonia is that Greeks plan one hundred years in advance while Bulgarians are focused on daily political problems."
The Greek billionaire has a unique attitude toward all Balkan states. According to Bulgarian media, Kokalis invested more than $3 billion in Balkan states during past several years. He bought big state-run companies, telecommunications, banks and lotteries. He has been investing money in Albania, Romania, Macedonia, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria and is planning to inject more than $4 billion into Turkey.
During several past years, Romanian and Bulgarian newspapers were libeling Socrates Kokalis "the secret Balkan ruler". Who is in fact Socrates Kokalis?
American magazine "Forbs" published a list of 538 businessmen whose wealth surpasses $1 billion and gave Mr. Kokalis 421st place estimating his wealth to $1.6 billion.
Socrates Kokalis is happily married and has three children. He was born in Athens in 1939 in the family of an eminent Greek surgeon. Having participated in the resistance movement, Kokalis and his family fled Greece. They firstly came to Yugoslavia but they moved to Romania where his son Socrates attended a high school. Afterwards, he moved to Moscow where Socrates enrolled a university but he graduated from the faculty of physics and electrical engineering in East Berlin in 1963. He returned to Greece and in 1977 established "Intracom" company, which became the greatest manufacturer of telecommunication equipment and information systems in Greece. Several years ago, Greek magazine "Anti" wrote that Kokalis didn't achieve success thanks to his knowledge and skills but thanks to the help of secret services. Namely, the magazine wrote that documentation found in the archives of the East German secret service showed that Kokalis was their spy during the 60s and that he was sent to Greece in order to supply the communistic regime in Berlin with information from Greece. Kokalis has never denied this statement.
In several years, Kokalis's company became a Balkan miracle. Nowadays, "Intracom" makes turnover of 1.6 billion euros. Kokalis owns two other organizations "Intralot" and "Intrasoft" also as shares in "Panafon-Vodafone", "Unibrain", "Helsakom international" and HE&D. In March 2000, "Intrakom" entered a strategic agreement with the CISCI system. Last July, Kokalis bought Hungarian company "Fornax" and Conklin Corporation in the USA. His latest project was purchase of a telecommunication company in Georgia (the USA).
I've made a mint on this and still feel it has huge gain possibilities.
If I'm wrong I loose a portion of what I made, I'm fine with that.
Gnote, let go...this is going no where anymore..last week was a buy and like i said there was potential for money to be made.. no more !
Good time to load some more. To bad for the big guys playing games the last few days with big asks.
This is a sure buck.
Should have been over a buck before this b/s started, o well.
Good time to start loading more. Big money is set to come in this afternoon
RR Donnelley & Sons Co.
Good news just out ! British unit "possible sale". Unloading dead weight:
"It said that two Ernst & Young representatives who have been tasked as administrators will consider all options for the business, including a possible sale.
Last week, Quebecor World obtained court approvals necessary for a $750 million cash infusion that staved off immediate financial disaster. The money was the first part of what will amount to $1 billion in new financing from Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley."

Also hearing RR Donnelley & Sons Co. is interested.
looks like a bidding war is in the works.
I heard that Quebecor is in talks with Dai Nippon to purchase the company can anyone confirm this .
Does anyone here work for any of these companies ?
Very suprized at Fridays action.
How many companies reach a deal like this for 1 billion in a day.
In early to mid Jan. they had nothing on the table and hoping to see 400 million and it traded at 1.88 to 2.00.
I think we seen a fake out by the mm's to re group and next week this stock will show its true strength.
$1.50 should have been instant with this deal.
All day Friday you could see mm's at work on the ask with fake sell orders increasing to build a wall to walk it down to collect cheap shares for the real run starting Monday.
1 billion in financing for operations sound like a good launching point to me. The was trading at over 8 bucks a few months back. I got in at .45. I think we see about 2 bucks this coming week. just over 137 million outstanding as well. The value now is what what 61.6 million and the courts approved 1 billion in financing. Crazy. 1 billion devided by 137 million oustanding alone is $7.29 dollars. I realize thats funding for ongoing operations but I think 1 billion is alot of cash to bank roll. This is a huge buying opportunity. glad I found it. Hoping for at least 2 bucks this week. Bucks
wow, 88k buy at .44. thats kind of bullish to me. Hoping this gets back to 2.00 soon. this can run big folks
why is it not moving ahead.is there any news for which it is struck at .44
I think Yes. $1 today by 10:00AM. IMO
All retail shares are under being stolen by MMs here. This position will see $4 in couple of weeks as the re-org plan is out. IMO
I hope so and i hope you guys make tons of money. I was rmach62 at the yahoo board...everybody called me a pumper but i knew we had a chance to make money and to trade on the OTC
.23 reached !!! sorry but i sold..was to scared and sold for gain...hope you guys reach 60 cents but i just cannot afford to lose more this year
