The ancient writ of quo warranto
is the remedy in law for challenging the authority of officials
It puts the burden on the official to prove his authority,
and if he fails to do so, he must cease exercising it,
and perhaps leave office..
~ Edward Coke ~ (1552-1634)
English jurist, author of the Reports and Institutes, in which he explained the writ of quo warranto.

but what it stood for..

Each time a person stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others
they send forth a ripple of hope
and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring
those ripples build a current
that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance..

Humans allow themselves to become enslaved
by buying into irrational statist ideas, superstitions, lies, concepts, terms (words), definitions, and arguments..

Comment on the above quote:
This is the observation that is the basis for a legitimate argument about legitimacy
When people persist in basing arguments for a "civilized" state in the imaginary,
while they persist in gaping at reality itself as too monstrous to be contemplated
Is it any wonder that the streets of "civilizations" never fail to run red with blood?

Chapter 56
Those who know do not talk
Those who talk do not know
Close the mouth
Shut the doors
Blunt the sharpness
Unravel the knots
Dim the glare
Mix the dust
This is called Mystic Oneness
They cannot obtain this and be closer
They cannot obtain this and be distant
They cannot obtain this and be benefited
They cannot obtain this and be harmed
They cannot obtain this and be valued
They cannot obtain this and be degraded
Therefore, they become honored by the world

Among the innumerable mortifications which waylay human arrogance
on every side may well be reckoned our ignorance
of the most common objects and effects, a defect of which we
become more sensible by every attempt to supply it.
Vulgar and inactive minds confound familiarity with knowledge
and conceive themselves informed of the whole nature of things
when they are shown their form or told their use;
but the speculatist,
who is not content with superficial views,
harasses himself with fruitless curiosity,
and still, as he inquires more,
perceives only that he knows less..

Knowledge will forever govern ignorance
and a people who mean to be their own governors
must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives..
~ James Madison ~
If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare,
and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare,
they may take the care of religion into their own hands;
they may appoint teachers in every State, county and parish and pay them out of their public treasury;
they may take into their own hands the education of children, establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union;
they may assume the provision of the poor;
they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post roads;
in short, every thing, from the highest object of state legislation down to the most minute object of police,
would be thrown under the power of Congress....
Were the power of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for,
it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature of the limited Government established by the people of America..

Comment
At the time of the writing of the Constitution, Fabian and other forms of Socialism were all the rage in Europe. 'General Welfare" was a popular contemporary term to that time clearly used differently by the Founders (biblical, Locke, Blackstone, etc. principles applied to the individual sovereign) than by the collectivists.
For example: "To lay taxes to provide for the general welfare of the United States, that is to say, 'to lay taxes for the purpose of providing for the general welfare.' For the laying of taxes is the power, and the general welfare the purpose for which the power is to be exercised. They are not to lay taxes ad libitum for any purpose they please; but only to pay the debts or provide for the welfare of the Union." (Thomas Jefferson)

As far as a book
Can't tell you how many times I have thought of that
The challenge is where to start
There are so many topics that I have covered over the years
Not to include the intimate personal experiences
A dart board would not do it justice
Any topic would seem like the tip of the iceberg..
Being irst is not always a good thing
Kind of like Mark Twain's patriot
What's interesting about a thought process
Sometimes it doesn't stop and more can be said
Changing what was written or adding on
When that happens it gets intense
because you only have fifteen minutes!!
I have been noticing those advantages of the 15 minutes, lol. I get a new mail alert every update. I thought my computer was malfunctioning, LOL.
Vex, You are now in the same league as many you quote. You'd better start writing your book. That was good and you were irst.
My thoughts as I responded to your post
Sometimes I take full advantage of that fifteen minutes..
What are you trying to say 8th?
irst?
The deflection art of screaming and yelling
Or that it made my ears throb?
irst?
Who said that first, you Vex? Is that someone else's quote?
Why are my ears throbbing?
It seems that if we were to get away from labeling
Put it all on the table
And look at life as reality would have it
Those that propagate the lie
Would have no clothes
Those screaming and yelling around them
Would have no clue
What would be left?
A world unimpeded by greed where honesty is forefront
Transparency is a given and life enjoyed as it was meant to be
By everyone..
And Liberals when they are getting beat up with facts resort to the deflection art of screaming and yelling.
Deflection seems to be a popular method as well..
Their seems to be a standard answer I have heard from friends when they can't argue logically against you, "I don't want to talk about it".
Most people prefer to believe their leaders are just and fair
even in the face of evidence to the contrary
once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which they live
is lying and corrupt
the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it
To take action in the face of a corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones
To choose to do nothing is to surrender one's self~image of standing for principles
Most people do not have the courage to face that choice
Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker
but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all
so, do we just give up?
A patriot must always be ready to defend his country
against his government..

It is difficult to free fools
from the chains they revere..

Interesting how history has a way of repeating itself
Not many pay attention nor care enough
To notice
If they did, it would be a casual detached view
Nothing more, nothing less..
"More socialism means more democracy, openness and collectivism in everyday life."
That sounds like something Obama would say while reading a teleprompter
Those who hope that we shall move away from the socialist path will be greatly disappointed.
Every part of our program of perestroika … is fully based on the principle of more socialism and more democracy.
... I would like to be clearly understood ... we, the Soviet people, are for socialism.
... We want more socialism and, therefore, more democracy.
... More socialism means more democracy, openness and collectivism in everyday life.
… We will proceed toward better socialism rather than away from it.
We are saying this honestly, without trying to fool our own people or the world.
Any hopes that we will begin to build a different, non-socialist society and go over to the other camp
are unrealistic and futile.
Those in the West who expect us to give up socialism will be disappointed.
... It’s my conviction that the human race has entered a stage where we are all dependent on each other.
No other country or nation should be regarded in total separation from another, let alone pitted against another.
That’s what our communist vocabulary calls internationalism and it means promoting universal human values..

Therefore the sage says
I take unattached action, and the people transform themselves
I prefer quiet, and the people right themselves
I do not interfere, and the people enrich themselves
I have no desires, and the people simplify themselves

Chapter 57
Govern a country with upright integrity
Deploy the military with surprise tactics
Take the world with non-interference
How do I know this is so?
With the following:
When there are many restrictions in the world
The people become more impoverished
When people have many sharp weapons
The country becomes more chaotic
When people have many clever tricks
More strange things occur
The more laws are posted
The more robbers and thieves there are
Therefore the sage says:
I take unattached action, and the people transform themselves
I prefer quiet, and the people right themselves
I do not interfere, and the people enrich themselves
I have no desires, and the people simplify themselves
Three groups spend other people's money
children, thieves and politicians
All three need supervision..

Man is the only Patriot
He sets himself apart in his own country, under his own flag, and sneers at the other nations, and keeps multitudinous uniformed assassins on hand at heavy expense to grab slices of other people's countries, and keep them from grabbing slices of his.
And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood of his hands and works for "the universal brotherhood of man" - with his mouth.

Those in control learn from their mistakes
Those being controlled do not notice them..
It is what it is
Today there is no longer a right and a left
That is held for those in control to manipulate
Needing to be controlled by the paradigm at large
Makes it easy
As human nature would dictate
Has nothing to do with our plight
But everything to do with our state
Human nature wants the remedy to be painless
Our plight is overcoming human nature..
And Hubert H. Humphrey was a screaming liberal in his day. Today he would be conservative Republican or about equal to Newt Romney??
