Yes, it seems that when they start up they move fast. FAZ went from 84 on the day of its debut to 184 within a week. It hasnt' been anywhere near 84 since! LOL I don't know how they work!
As for SRS, I was just using PLD as an example.....I really don't follow SPG, but I know most of them were much lower than they are now in November.
I sure hope we get a green close today! I'm betting on BIDU to have blockbuster earnings tonight....we'll see!
Crazy day......bought WFC 12.25, sold $13.50! I think I want it back, maybe! I also like MA here, but not playing it.
fast, SPG is only making new lows now, and isn't it one of the biggest of the SRS? The fact that SRS is so far off its highs still, speaks worlds to how squirrely the ETFs are at a glance. I'm thinking Bernanke spooks the markets....who knows;-0))
Snowing here in MD...it be bootiful!
For SKF this kind of reminds me of that week we ended up hitting $300, we were shocked to see $200 and then the real boom came, don't see that happening again but it sure seems bad that we are not bouncing off these levels on the S&P and the DOW...
Added some 200 SKF calls... Fingers crossed!
That's true, but the top holdings were much lower as well. They have all tripled since Nov. Well, some have. PLD was around $2 in Nov. Ran back to $15 and now around $6! Roller coaster ride for all the REITs.
I seldom hold any overnight, usually just a daytrade. Although looking back....those SRS shares that I sold in the 50's would look very nice now....yet when the market was trading at lows last Nov-Dec those shares were up near $300.
ktc, there are so many variables with the ETFs and ETNs (DXO)...there's a lot to consider. It's hardly an exact science. And one general rule is, they are for short term trading.
Afterall, wouldn't it seem that SRS should be near a high,, same w/ our beloved SKF which is 120 pts off ?
THere have been many posts , easy enough to find on ihub and elsewhere, explaining the answers to your question.
SRS $100 calls are .60, if this market tests new lows...
Friday, just like all other stocks...
When do SKF options expire - Tuesday?
Two days of red Reits, maybe breakout or nasty bounce...
mabye SRS breakout time for exp week?
SPG starting to tank! (watch it bounce next week lol)
Ya, I remember....maybe just getting too lazy to pay much attention to them anymore. Still have a little SRS and it's been good lately.....just not those nice wild swings anymore. Remember FXP, SKF, EEV wild swings a few months ago....crazy days. Now I guess its the sub plays that are going weeeeeeee. lol!
Alll the oil etf's track contracts that are a few months out, those contracts are actually coming down...
Remember when we had that one month when right at the end of the expiration there was that huge $10-$20 short squeeze for that month but then the next day after everything was back to normal, none of the etf's followed that move either...
Is it me or are these ETF's getting harder and harder to figure out?
Oil up $4.....DXO down .18?? What month contract does this one trade??
Seems the longer these(ETF) are around the smaller the swings....just my .02.
kt
fastlizzy, where did you get that information? Thanks!
BIDU at LOD... come to poppa!
ProShares UltraShort Financials topped the list at midday on Wednesday for Buying on Weakness, which tracks stocks that fell in price but had the largest inflow of money.
SPDR Gold topped the list for Selling on Strength, which tracks stocks that rose in price but had the largest outflow of money.
With options expiration next week, it's perfect timing for a nice hard shake imo...
Yes, they keep saying we have to retest those lows, so let's just do it and get it over with! It's too crazy to try to play this market otherwise!
Tomorrow is a big day, either we hold this 8000 support area on the dow or else we go test those November lows again...
Will SKF continue tomorrow? I think so!
I'm in for a few calls way out of the money!
Thanks AD. wow.
Now thats a list. LOL

Why Is There So Little Volume In the Recent Direxion Triple ETFs?
Wednesday February 4, 2:58 pm ET
By Bill Luby
Bill Luby submits: It seems as if every day trader I know has fallen under the spell of the leveraged firepower of the Direxion triple ETFs. Oddly, only the first batch of ETFs that were rolled out in November have caught fire. These include the familiar tickers like Russell 1000 Financials Bullish 3x ETF (NYSEArca: FAS - News), Russell 1000 Financials Bearish 3x ETF (NYSEArca: FAZ - News), Russell 2000 Bullish 3x ETF (NYSEArca: TNA - News), Russell 2000 Bearish 3x ETF (NYSEArca: TZA - News), Russell 1000 Bullish 3x ETF (NYSEArca: BGU - News), Russell 1000 Bearish 3x ETF (NYSEArca: BGZ - News), Russell 1000 Energy Bullish 3x ETF (NYSEArca: ERX - News) and Russell 1000 Energy Bearish 3x ETF (NYSEArca: ERY - News).

The most recent group of ETFs, which I discussed in Direxion Triple TFs Add New Horses to Stable, has attracted considerably less interest. Even though they were launched at the end of December, only two of the six ETFs, Emerging Markets Bull 3X Shares (NYSEArca: EDC - News) and Technology Bull 3x Shares (NYSEArca: TYH - News), have surpassed the 100,000 single day volume mark and TYH just grazed that bar, with a high volume mark of 101,900. In the chart below, a snapshot taken just past the halfway point of today’s session, the six new ETFs can be seen floundering at the bottom.
Juice is not the problem, as emerging markets (EDC and EDZ) and technology (TYH and TYP) are consistently among the most volatile corners of the market.
The comments on yesterday’s semi-rhetorical question were excellent. Let’s see what sort of explanation the collective wisdom can come up with today.

Hearing a lot about technology leading us out of this recession...
If that is the case here are a couple good double etfs to play that game...
fast, there are some very bright minds calling for gold to do very well in the coming years.
Celente continually , for years now , has been suggesting we buy real gold and just put it away. Hide it.
The Gold Rush of '09 has begun.
And that may not be tongue in cheek;-00
Maul Market: Cincinnati Mall Sells on the Cheap
With the commercial real-estate market at a virtual standstill, there is much to be learned from the sale of one of the Cincinnati area's largest malls by retail giant Simon Property Group Inc.
But be warned: It isn't a pretty picture. Not only was the price abysmally low, but the buyer, North Star Realty of suburban Atlanta, also had to agree to onerous personal-recourse provisions to obtain financing.
