<<SRS below 58...that's insane...>>
SRS below 58...that's insane...
edit - Make that below 57...sheesh...
AD: I mean I will play PLD for a bounce tomorrow AM as I think it is likely to see a few points
I am playing the short bounce but think if it dropped from 750 to 550 in two days based on low expectations on financial results but it might be oversold going into the first few hours.
No idea GetMLF, on PLD I just trade it when I see what looks like a good opp.
They are in for some very tough times. Will it re visit the lows? time will tell;-00
Where do you think the bottom is on PLD?
glad to hear it GMLF. I don't know why I didn't join you largish in SKF. Like near 100 was a big risk? NOT!
Played the REITs short for a nice day so far. SPG PLD, in size.
Exactly what I was thinking and picked up a large position yesterday still riding it out. I love these EFT's %%
hmm, just saw this TBT post. Turns out I never got the fill afterall. Checked with retirement acct too. Good thing, since it's down a little ;-0)
lol, who knows. I'm thinking some consolidation for a day or two?
TRaded SKF for scalps twice today,,, no complaints. Total of around 2.6 points.
Bought both late yesterday enjoying gains - any thoughts on when the markets will bottom out again?
.<<buying SKF and SEF once I think I found a top>>>
LOL ! you and me and the rest of us!
Looks like a good trade thus far for ya. I am undecided when these markets will start to retract. I am buying SKF and SEF once I think I found a top. Should be 10-15% gainers.
bot some TBT 46.10, light position
Very interesting approach - I'll check it out next week. Thanks!
It seems like if you are going to try and trade SRS intraday, I would watch DJUSRE and SRS.IV.
Watching the index, I would
1. target a point of support or resistance where trading might pivot
2. calculate the percentage gain or loss on the index at which the pivot works out.
3. apply the percentage to SRS.iv
4. place a limit order at or slightly beyond the percentage level indicated and wait for the trade to come to you.
5. then immediately calculate the numbers for the exit of the trade. targeting some percentage you can live with.
the big boys are trading in and out less than half a percent at a time with multiple trades. they also take multiple gains and losses. their computers can do that.
On a related topic, I wonder how those computer trading black box style hedge funds are doing.... you don't hear much about them.
You bring up an interesting point. As I understand it the bid/ask action of an ETF (as a synthetic instrument) is entirely dependent on the price action of its underlying basket of stocks. As a result, the bid/ask of an ETF move with the composite price action of the underlying basket which is affected most often by the good old volume precedes price paradigm. However, the volume of an ETF itself isn't correlated with the price of that ETF - it just shows how many shares were traded and doesn't follow the traditional volume/price relationship. As a result, big volume on an ETF isn't going to move the bid/ask of that ETF at all - the price action and volume of the underlying basket do that.
I've read that as many as 75% of the trades placed on the big boards are placed by algos. If that's true, then I imagine that a bunch of algos are trading the individual stocks in a given ETF's basket, other algos are trading the ETF itself, and the rest of us humans are just trying to go along for the ride without getting bucked off.
The bid/ask price swings on SRS are beyond crazy; when SRS falls off a cliff the bid/ask declines so fast and huge that I've got to believe that algos are involved. Lately I've been trying to jump on board short just as it begins its descent. Sometimes I make it, sometimes I don't.
GLTAUH (Good Luck to All Us Humans)
it's so hard to tell all the computer trading on these
Market is due a rally imo, makes sense to me...
looks like a lot of SRS selling/shorting and a lot of URE long activity last 30 minutes. just watching the tape on both
You would probably know better than I...
URE options are not priced adequately for the task, but SRS maybe they are
it just looks to me like a whole load of computer program trading all day long on both
I wouldn't think so, they would probably just buy puts on the one they are trading as a hedge... but possible...
wondering about URE and all the volume in it:
do you think the big guys are going long URE intraday as an SRS hedge when SRS gets overbought?
$180 could easily happen, the big selloff has already happened today...
I know! I think my strike will be hit today.....180!
That Michelle on CNBC talks about nationalization.....she puts words in Bernacke's mouth and everyone disagrees with her.....but every time she says it the financials tank! They need to take her off.....and Santelli!
They must be hugely short the financials! They are anti-American!
SKF I want to beat with a baseball bat! GL! once again I knew it was gonna hit $200 and I chickened out, so frustating...
Those $200 calls were .50 yesterday, hit over $8 today!
Got a 180 put on SKF for .85! LOL
should be interesting!
No doubt thats the one to watch!
Here's one that's 2x bearish on gold stocks.
#board-12683
Huge Call options on GLD at $100, $150 and $200 in Jan 2010's!
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/op?s=GLD&m=2010-01
from the IBOX link - GLL
do you know of a ETF that is bearish on gold?
There is my damn $200 on SKF! Why we had that little headfake yesterday am, friggin made me sell out, disgusting!
Those calls were as low as .50 yesterday, looks like they might get close to $10 today if we break over $200...
SKF to $200 might be coming in a gap tomorrow...
Same here! gl!
Got my butt kicked on options the past 2 weeks...just gonna sit back and chill and wait for skf to max out tomorrow then try to play some puts on it Monday.
SKF and SRS look like good plays here imo, Market is not going to like testing these Nov Lows and if we close under some of them watchout...
