Sory, but you are being intellectually dishonest Jack. I expect better from you. You know what is going on at Plug and the changes occurring that were not mentioned and decided to share this article. You could have at least had the decency to correct his piece, which I have done on his site and the Yahoo. Less all try and be as honest and open about Plug even though they have failed to be with us.

At least my link actually mentions PLUG and Hydrogen.
Poorly done piece does not add reduced cost of ceasing construction and $75 million in layoffs. He does not mention the inventory buildout and fails to talk about the across-the-board price increases. These will all have an effect on the future decrease in losses. Half the story is misleading at best and worst biased. Jack, you should know better than to push false and misleading information, which, you yourself, correct people all the time about.

Air Products announced it intends to build a network of permanent, commercial-scale multi-modal H2 refueling stations stretching from Edmonton to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
“With abundant resources, tremendous talent, and forward-thinking governments, Canada is driving the clean energy transition forward,” said Seifi Ghasemi, Air Products’ Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Last year, Air Products announced our continued investment in Western Canada with the first permanent, commercial-scale H2 refueling station in Alberta. Today, we build on that commitment with plans to build additional commercial-scale multi-modal H2 refueling stations, developing a H2 highway connecting Alberta’s two largest cities and enabling the continued development of the region’s H2 ecosystem.”
The permanent, multi-modal H2 refueling stations will be equipped to serve heavy-duty vehicles, such as commercial and municipal trucks and buses, as well light-duty H2 fuel cell cars. The stations will be along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway that runs through Calgary and Edmonton, providing a fueling experience and speed that is similar to gasoline or diesel. This H2 infrastructure will help Western Canada reach a goal of 5,000 H2 or dual fuel vehicles on the road in five years.
“Each of our state-of-the-art, high-capacity, high-reliability stations will be able to fuel up to 200 heavy-duty trucks or 2,000 cars per day,” noted Rachel Smith, vice president and general manager, Air Products Canada. “In Canada, H2 is essential to decarbonizing transportation where heavy-duty vehicles travel long distances in extreme temperatures. We are excited to be activating Canada’s first H2 corridor here in Alberta.”
The first of Air Products’ permanent H2 refueling stations, located in Edmonton, near the site of the Company’s landmark net-zero H2 energy complex that is under construction, is scheduled to be onstream in 2025. Currently, Air Products has placed a temporary, H2 mobile fueler on the site that is supplying customers. The permanent Edmonton H2 refueling station is supported in part by $1 million (CAD) in funding from Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program.

In addition, Air Products has a H2 mobile fueler at the Edmonton International Airport to provide H2 for the airport’s fleet of Toyota Mirai H2 fuel cell vehicles as well as a mobile fueler located on Aurum Road ready to serve the broader Edmonton market.
As the world’s largest supplier of H2, Air Products has hands-on operating experience with over 250 H2 fueling station projects in 20 countries and the company’s technologies are used in over 1.5 million fueling operations annually.

Spokane Valley hydrogen fuel company explains layoffs

Plug Power Inc., a firm that supplies hydrogen fuel to companies like Amazon, Walmart and Home Depot, recently announced it will soon lay off dozens of employees. But the New York-based company’s Inland Northwest presence will remain.
The U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration requires companies with more than 100 workers to announce layoffs and closures 60 days in advance.
On April 11, the department announced that a Plug Power closure would affect 107 workers, beginning June 30.
But Scott Spink, vice president of engineering, said the announcement does not tell the full story.
“Our manufacturing facilities in Spokane and the material that is being manufactured is being moved to New York state,” Spink said.
Two large factories have recently been built in Rochester and Albany, he said.
“They were both purposefully built,” he said. “They have space to move these manufacturing lines and we’re transitioning the lines there.”
Spink said the final product is a hydrogen fuel cell, which uses the chemical energy of hydrogen to cleanly and efficiently produce electricity. Those cells will now be assembled in New York.
So, only manufacturing workers will be affected by the layoffs. And if they wish to move to New York, then they will have a job waiting for them, according to Spink.
The other Spokane Valley workers will continue their employment at the company’s West Coast office at 15913 E. Euclid Ave.
“Our development center in Spokane is staying open and 48 research and development and engineering jobs will stay at the facility,” he said.
At the 24,000-square-foot facility in the Spokane Business and Industrial Park, workers will help test new products and ensure the quality of current ones, Spink said.
“Here, we have research labs where we do … all sorts of studies of alternative materials,” he said. “We have engineering development people that design components and we still build all the prototypes here.”
Workers based in Spokane Valley will also continue to refill customers’ hydrogen storage facilities and to ensure fuel cells in vehicles, like forklifts, are operating correctly.
“At the Amazon facility that’s east of our office, you will see a hydrogen tank that they use every day to fuel their material handling equipment that they can drive inside their building because they admit no exhaust,” he said. “So we travel to the field all the time to make sure the customer understands how the product works and to refill tanks.”
During their early years, hydrogen-fuel manufacturing companies often struggled to stay afloat. It resulted in many mergers and acquisitions.
For instance, Plug Power used to be part of Avista Labs before that fuel cell company changed its name to ReliOn. In 2014, Plug Power paid $4 million to purchase ReliOn Inc., according to previous reporting by The Spokesman-Review.
Last month, Plug Power reported its financial results for 2023.
“There is no longer substantial doubt of the Company’s ability to continue,” a company release said.
The firm reported revenue of $891 million for 2023, which is a company record and reflects a 27% growth over the prior year, according to the release.
Last year, it opened a hydrogen plant in Woodbine, Georgia, which is the largest of its kind in the nation. It is the company’s first large-scale facility and greatly increased its production capabilities, the release said.
The company’s key customers are Tyson, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Home Depot and Amazon, according to its website.

Looks like that should clear out some inventory. I hope we got decent margins on it.
Actually, these contracts pay the engineer’s salaries and keeps them on the payroll. Later, when more funds (if, of course…) come in they will be available for Plug expansion.
So, Plug has the design engineer’s payroll covered.
It is also growing a library of design and engineering plans for future use.
Hence, keeping their pool of trained and experienced engineers while cutting costs and growing their IP.

The council makes recommendations to the Energy secretary on oil and natural gas issues. NPC’s hydrogen report was released Tuesday along with another report from the council focused on reducing U.S. natural gas supply chain emissions.

As a follow up to my previous posts, for context, current Nikola FCEV trucks have a hydrogen fuel tank capacity of 70 kg, and range of 500 miles. Thus, if the hydrogen refueling station has a refueling rate capacity of 100 kg H2 in 10 minutes, a next generation Nikola FCEV truck with a larger tank capacity of 100kg, could travel 715 miles and refuel in 10 minutes (conservatively assuming no advancements in fuel cell efficiency).

Within the next six years, several thousand hydrogen filling stations are to go into operation worldwide, thus making an important contribution to the decarbonization of the mobility sector. To this end, Bosch Rexroth has developed a scalable portfolio of servo-hydraulic compressor drives in the power range between 10 and 280 kW together with partner companies from the hydrogen economy. A new cryogenic pump, for example, compresses liquid hydrogen directly to 875 bar, enabling the direct refueling of heavy-duty commercial vehicles within a few minutes.
Long service life and start-stop operation, high efficiency with low hydrogen losses and low operating costs: OEMs and operators are looking for solutions that can be implemented quickly and economically for the cost-effective operation of hydrogen filling stations. New cryogenic pump: 100 kg of hydrogen can be filled up in 10 minutes
Bosch Rexroth is developing the new electrohydraulically driven cryogenic pump in partnership with FirstElement Fuel, the market leader for the commercial operation of hydrogen filling stations in the United States. With a connected load of 280 kW, it compresses liquid hydrogen to 875 bar for the direct refuelling of heavy trucks. The aim is to refuel the vehicles with 100 kg of hydrogen within 10 minutes. Direct refuelling eliminates the need for intermediate storage at petrol stations. The first filling stations will be equipped from 2025.
Bosch Rexroth also offers variants developed in collaboration with partner companies for medium and lower outputs. The 75 kW CytroCore compressor drive can be used for the compression of both liquid and gaseous hydrogen. In the lower power range of 10 kW, a ready-to-connect self-sufficient axle, CytroForce, drives the compressor cylinders. No specific hydraulics know-how is required for either solution.
Standard modules in hardware and software can be finely scaled
For optimum energy efficiency, Bosch Rexroth relies on the so-called positive displacement control. In contrast to throttle control, which is used in most industrial hydraulic systems, position and force control is implemented by means of servo-hydraulic pump control. This control concept reduces energy consumption by approx. 75%. In addition, the compressor drives require less than one square meter of floor space and are much quieter than conventional drive systems. After the one-time parameterization, they are immediately ready for use. They communicate with the control system of the hydrogen filling station via open interfaces. All modules continuously record operating data and thus create the conditions for systematic condition monitoring and predictive maintenance for maximum availability with the digital service CytroConnect.

The demand for proven hydrogen equipment is growing, not fading.
That is good to hear. And by the end of the year they will cover 100% of their needs ( supposedly )
I.have been wondering for a long time how much they were buying from suppliers and what % they would be able to produce.
Of course now with the new supply , the price of hydrogen will probably go below their cost of production. Why would any of Plug's former suppliers bring on more capacity knowing that Plug would stop buying from them and they would lose the largest user of hydrogen as a customer.

As per the PR, the two plants with 25 tpd cover 50% of Plug’s requirement of green hydrogen.
I am doubtful we have enough to cover the current business interest and what the price differential is to what we buy it at. I suspect the supplier prices will come down as more supply hits the market depending on the addressable market.

I guess that answers your question from the other day as to what they were producing. I say about dam time, and we should be at what 200 tpd by now? Glad we are at least heading in the right direction. Maybe, the learning curve is over, and they can now be more realistic.
TF - The only reason I would buy PLUG shares is to cover a short position.
Currently, the trend for PLUG is a Strong Negative, and I don't see this trend reversing.
The positive catalysts, the DOE Loan and 45v credits will bump up the price, but aren't enough to reverse the trend or counter the terrible Quarterly financials.
Remember, every PLUG Rally fades within days.

I have a problem with that paper / article.
He says the processing of electricity from alterative energy to the output of hydrogen is less than 50% efficient.
But he says oil has an output greater than 1. But that ignors transporting crude out of the ground, to a refinery, the energy used and cost of the refinery, transporting to a power plant, and the difference in efficiency of burning oil ( or gas ) vs using a fuel cell.
I agree their are some differences in efficiency depending on use. Fuel cell cars are much better than a gas engine ( even one burning hydrogen ) and less or no improvement in a power plant but you can't totally ignore the cost of getting oil or gas from the ground to the power plant.

CEF - Q-1 revenues ought to be in the $120-$150 million range based on PLUG history and growth.
If gross revenues are below $120, I have some worries.
The $500 million in impairments includes shutting down facilities, severance and other RIF costs, inventory carry costs and losses.
These are just my estimates, and I would be interested in anyone else's thoughts.
