Good question. I had AlphaTrade, and then recently found out they have 2 TWO screens for many stocks. SPNG and SPNG_V for example.
They were charging $50/mo. They recently changed their icons also, and they are glaringly UGLY.......another reason I left.
So I am doing the trial on Equity Trade. They have nice screens and features, but you have to reload your settings every day I guess. They want $120/month.
Haven't checked Quotetracker yet
IHub has a version with tabs last I checked....but I like seperate windows for each stock.
I would ask this question on the Golden Lounge, or at the Day Traders boards.....
PS. When you find a good one, please post it to the board, and let me know also.....z
Hi, I may be on the wrong board, but I will try nevertheless..I am lacking a good cheap level 2 since PRODIGY decided to take mine today. The gr8 thing about it was you could have as many l2 tickers screens running all at once on one screen (I had 40)..I have been advised Quotetracker. I want to know if you can do the same on QT as Prodigy. Also, how much is QT for OTCBB. Tia, nice board btw.
Sorry if info is already somewhere on here. I think I asked this before, but got sidetracked and never did it. Anyways, question is:
Want to set up accounts for some nieces and nephews. They are just kids (under 18). I suppose they would be custodial accounts. Should I set them up as custodial accounts, or would it be better to have their parents be the custodians and then they can just give me the log-in/pass info?
And also, easiest (low cost) broker to do so with?
Big TIA
Stay away from Sharebuilder (large order surcharges)
I like Ameritrade.
Zecco is good ,but you cant trade stocks that have symbols with 5 letters.
I don't know if anyone checks this board anymore but what do you guys think is the best online brokerage firm now?? Zecco??
Thanks, Dave!
Ralf
As long as you open your account with more than 2k you can get a margin account with ETRADE.
Scottrade will let you open one with as little as 500$
The minimum's on Zecco and others are very low also.
I have been with Scottrade,Zecco and now ETRADE and I like them the best as I get live level 2's for free as long as I make 30 trades a quarter (I average that a month LOL). The only thing that stinks is it is 9.99 a trade but they give you 100 free trades when you sign up. GL Dave
IB wants $ 10,000 $ deposit when opening an Individual Account....
Any suggestions where else to go, or how to avoid that?
Thanks !
choice trade is screwed up beyond belief. A Troglodyte wrote their web pages.........z
agree. can't log in now for 2 days. "temp password" didn't work, phone monkies,.....
I use Etrade and have no problems entering orders with more than 2 decimals. However, I think that only works for pink sheet stocks.
Cool. To get ETRADEPRO you have to make 30 trades a quarter which I do easily.
I believe so, its called Ameritrade Apex I think you need a 100k balance OR an average of 5 trades a month for 3 months to get apex for free. Cheers!
500 free trades HOLY SCHMOLES! Yeah kind of a bummer on the decimal point thing. Otherwise it's rocked so far especially the free level 2's saving me 48$ a month with ETRADEPRO. Does Ameritrade have some kind of free level 2?
" ETRADE...you can only enter two decimal points .00 "
With Sharebuilder you can also only enter only 2 decimal points .00 plus there is a large order surcharge with those crooks.
Try Ameritrade, you can enter as many decimal places you wish .0005 for example. I got 500 free trades, plus there are no large order surcharges. Good Luck!
ETRADEPRO is the shiizzit funded it today. Pulled money out of Zecco not worth the hassle.
see with scottrade.. margin or not the second you sell something you can use those funds to buy whatever you like
haha i have .93 cents. but i dropped below the 2k so my margin isn't even kicking in right now haha. They still seem slow when it comes to giving you, your funds after a sale.
Agreed. I just don't want to have to wait the 3 days. I have .88 cents of buying power right now and I am sooooooo bored :P
Yeh zecco is actually running a lot smoother. I actually have a margin with them but I never spend over my cash balance!!
I guess I'm now going to have the potential to get myself into some trouble LOL. I talked to Zecco about a margin account so I don't have to live by the "3 day rule" they said as long as you have over 2k in your account they usually approve you and you can trade up to two times what your account is worth heh heh. I will never buy more than the amount of my account but it will be nice to not have the 3 day wait. FWIW for the last week I have not had a glitch with Zecco. GL Dave
Sharebuilder is 9.95 a trade, but they have a rather unfair large order (over 1000 shares) surcharge and in placing online orders they only allow cent increments, they do not allow anything less than a penny, so one cannot trade sub penny stocks. Please help me choose another broker that has no large order surcharge and allows one to place .00xxx orders. Thanks
Saw that myself. I have to give it up to them if there are no catches. I have been wanting to read the details but was on duty yesterday and trading busy. Sounds good though. They have been doing well lately. Hey can you trade afterhours with Zecco? I tried last night for the first time and could not figure it out. TIA Dave
Holy crap Zecco is allowing unlimited free trading for the month of October. I got the email yesterday,
"October will be a 100% unlimited free trading month for current Zecco Trading customers
Thanks for hanging in there. To show our appreciation for your loyalty, we have decided to make October a 100% unlimited free trading month. This means that between October 1st and October 31st you can make unlimited equity and options trades commission-free. As far as I know, this has never been done in the history of the brokerage industry, until now. But then again, we are seeing things in the market we never would have believed, until now."

has anyone had scottrade LII crap out on them the past 3 days in a row?
comes up and works fine for a while, then blacks out -
called the IT help center and got some BS about the feed off nasdaq screwing up on wednesday, then yesterday it was the server being off line -
you have to log off and on like 10 times to get a different server -
annoying -
Sounds good if you try it out lemme know how it goes please. Gl Dave
This is beyond rediculous... it's got to be the fifth straight day this is happening, and luckily for me I haven't had to change my limit orders which are already set up. I've read on allstocks.com about choicetrade being a very good broker for pennies. I'm gonna give them a call later.
I just got referred to a "backup" site and was worried about it being a "fishing" fake site but it is the real deal and has been working for me just traded something. I tried it out by putting in a fake name and password twice and neither time it accepted it so I put in the real one and it worked. Maybe they fired the goons they had and started fresh or something. I waited on hold for 20 minutes and gave up. I'm definitely out of them soon though.
Zecco is unreal right now...down again...
well, i don't think i've bought any pinks with them at all for awhile, or with anybody really. but when i've called for other reasons it has been reasonable. just don't try calling near the bell during a week like this lol.
Thank you for posting your experience. The only problem with Scottrade (which I still have a little money in left it open just in case) and ETrade is they restrict alot of buying of the pinks online. Even though I'm trying to get away from the pinks I still don't want to be restricted online. When you do have to call one in how long does it usually take to get a broker? TIA
zecco cost me like $600 a few months back by not giving me access to sell a position; for about a week for some reason.
I've not really had any bad experiences with etrade in the 2 years i've had them. x-fers in/out go smooth and their Pro platform is pretty slick and commish is decent as well.
look for free-trade deals upon sign-up and such before you set it up though. They almost always have some promo going. Good Luck
**Edit** surely I've had some bad experience with them at some time, but not major enuf to recall right now. :)
HAD ZECCO COST ME 200$ TODAY WEEEEEEEEEEEE! Website locked up an couldn't place a trade and waited on hold for almost 30 minutes before I got a broker. I"M OUT.
Still have Scottrade account open but they restrict online buys of tons of stocks.
I hear the same about ETRADE.
Some folks like TDAmeritrade do they restrict online buying of alot of pinks?
Anyone have Alphatrade? Although after my experience with Zecco I may have to stick go to ETRADE, stay with Scottrade and call in my pink orders or try TDAmeritrade.
Opinions please? TIA
ChoiceTrade is freakin awesome!

Oh yeah brain burnt from flippin LEH today got in and out with 5% but almost had a heart attack in process.
Have to check it out. Tks
By the way, IB commissions are $1......but there's a $10/month fee.......well worth it!......z
RP is a Republican. Write him in when you vote.....et z
Agree. That Ron Paul guy sounded like a decent pick. Problem is like with Ross Perot under our current system it is almost impossible for an independent to get elected. I agree with alot of the ideas given though and would vote for such a canidate in a moment if they could win.

I'll have to check em out thanks.
Bingo....Their trading platform takes a little getting used to...it's an application that you download and install...but after that, they're the best by far.......z
Here you can discuss Online Brokerages.
Halfway Decent Brokerages:
ETrade - Will let you trade ALL stocks. .
Interactive Brokers: $10/month, $1/Trade. Geared towards the professional trader, but you can't beat their fees.
Worst Brokerages:
ameritrade tdameritrade . Known as the Stock Nanny brokerage. They WILL NOT let you trade a LOT of runners.....and they make you PHONE IN the rest.
They also foster child mutilation subliminally on their web pictures.
I think they have PEDOPHILES in their mgmt!!!!!!
ChoiceTrade. Whatever you do don't go with them. Their online portal SUCKS, and they like to
FEE you to death. They seem to make those fees up as they go along.
