Low Oil Inventories, Mean What?
Understanding the big picture of the oil industry can be crucial to your successful investment. There are many elements within the oil industry, and with our volatile markets, learning how each is connected is important. Recently there have been lower than average inventories, what does this mean to refiners and oil prices?

Good to know!
I like your way of thinking. I am a sucker for a bargain.

May not have to wait until December...
Dear SIOR Shareholders:
A number of you have written or called me inquiring about the current status of Superior Oil and Gas’s business and outlook. I do apologize for not keeping you current. We have been handicapped by a lack of sufficient operating funds while simultaneously being pressed by the most encouraging developments in decades in Oklahoma’s oil and gas industry.
Unfortunately, regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission prohibit Superior’s selective disclosure of material information to some persons and not to the public at large. The means by which Superior should use to communicate with persons interested in its business is through the timely filing of quarterly and annual reports it is required to file with the Commission plus appropriate press releases and special filings with the Commission. Due to a lack of sufficient operating funds, we have fallen behind in filing these reports.
We do anticipate the correction of this situation in the next few weeks. Until then, we appreciate your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Dan Lloyd, Jr
President, Superior Oil and Gas Co.

CFW -- "After a thorough review, we believe that we are nearing the conclusion of a process that has solicited interest and offers from third parties for either the sale or combination of the entire company and/or the sale of some or all of its assets. If we are able to implement one of these options, we expect that the proceeds will be used primarily to satisfy the obligations of the company."
If- this process takes a few months more- December might be a good time to pick up cheap shares that are liquidated for tax loss?- Latimer took 2 years to sell off Prime to Magnum Hunter--
You must always save $100K or so to go pre-Christmas bargain hunting.
Who has money in December anyways!?
The "happy" campers were good for the company as they bought the shares in March/April at .60- .80
Now they are unhappy campers and will dump shares in December.
Company doesn't care any more...
Just good for those with December Cash... to buy the dumps and wait a few months until Latimer gets ready to dump the company?

Chevron to Come Out Even this Quarter
Many big oil companies have seen the effects of low oil prices. Chevron is no different, and has seen these effects first hand. Despite the effects of low oil prices, the company has made some adjustments in order to maintain even checks and balances this quarter.

Yea, looks like you are right about unhappy campers. Never a good thing for the company.
Yea, looks like you are right about unhappy campers. Never a good thing for the company.
Reading more on CPE, just asked if you knew about it...
Have done well on CFW so far-- in at .12/ .14 and selling at .16/.1675
Go Latimer GO>>>>>>>
BUT... Expect CFW tax loss selling in December to be a real bargain?
Blackhill deal was front loaded with 684,000 shares at .64- .79 so there may be lots of unhappy campers looking to take the loss this year?

In FAZ and SPXU for few days to see if this resistance wall will create a drop off.....

Utica Shale is Bumping Up Production with Plenty of Drilling Permits
The Utica Shale is just now starting to get some serious recognition for oil drilling in the region. With this increase interest, many energy companies are looking to get in on as many assets as possible. This has lead to the increase distribution of drilling permits in this shale region.
Find additional information here: http://turnkeyoil.com/2011/10/19/utica-shale-is-bumping-up-production-with-plenty-of-drilling-permits/
I have heard of this company and read about it in the past. But haven't been following lately. I will have to keep an eye on this. Feel free to post info on CPE here too.
Do you follow CPE? lots of activity..

Crude to Reach $115 Average in 2012?
Oil was speculated to reach over $200 this past year. Which, as many of you probably know, did not happen. So what about next year? We have seen some serious lows in oil markets, but it looks like 2012 may see some good news.
Into 2012, the return of Libyan production will reduce their flexibility, but producers are set to withstand a 1% to 1.5% global slowdown, given better capital positions and inventories remaining on the low end across the globe. Essentially, for the price of oil to breakdown, the pace of economic deceleration across the globe has to outpace OPEC’s capacity to constrain supplies.
Looking at past recessions and the price movement in oil, the floor seems to be in the $80 to $95 per barrel range for Brent. A breakdown in prices below that level would occur in the case of a ’09-like crisis, which could push Brent down to the $60 to $70 per barrel range. At that point, cramped investment in alternative production methods like deep sea and ultra-deep sea drilling, oil sand, and other methods would become uneconomical, putting pressure on supply and once again setting markets up for bullish moves.
Lots happening here. Thanks for keeping me up to date!
Map of proposed spur line:
Cato field is directly south, of closest blue pin to the spur line if I read the legend correctly?

If it gets constructed, would make Cano property worth quite a bit more- which is probably why Latimer and Homier got involved in the first place?
These guys are from NGP and know what's going on with much more experience than Johnson?
But they don't strike me as "hands on oil execs"- so probably will sell it like Prize...

Slow climb back to 20's would be nice. Had one buy order go off @ .145 at yesterdays's close, but one at .14 didn't go.
So holding for Miller Time?
Alfa, is there a map out there where the proposed new line is? I have been looking at the Cato fields and if it comes to fruition it would be a good move to sell some assets. I had a 6k bid in today and only got 1900 filled at the bell. Yesterdays action was possibly some short covering, or other big money getting back in. A slow and steady climb to the .20's should be coming!
Peace!
CFW trading was halted for a short time this morning while news was released... a "T-3" -- and it was resumed shortly afterwards...
It looks like they will take the write down on "reserves" for this qtr - but re-instate them in the next report? This was already mentioned in the 8k out a week or so ago.. Revenues were better if you disregard the reserve write down, so guess yesterday was just MM games getting suckers to buy in early?
I bot few more at .13 -- 2-3 days ago, and holding a few more now...
What do you make of the CO2 spur line? if true, might make the Cato property move valuable and sell more quickly if that is Latimer's plan? I don't see Latimer as a hands-on oil co executive? just a finance guy who got in cheap..
I look at Latimer and Homier's background and see a reorganization and selling it off once the energy driven economy improves? just my opinion... so holding..
do you have a different take?

Looks like a delay in filing,
IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- On October 13, 2011, Cano Petroleum, Inc. (NYSE Amex: CFW) (“Cano”) announced that it is unable to file its annual report on Form 10-K for the year ended June 30, 2011 within the 15 day extended period afforded to it pursuant to the Notification of Late Filing on Form 12b-25 that Cano filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 29, 2011. Cano is delayed in filing its annual report because revisions to its estimated proved reserves, along with the associated impairment and tax consequences, require additional time for Cano to prepare and review the filing.
Cano anticipates that it will file its Form 10-K on or before Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
Cano anticipates, on an unaudited basis, to incur a loss from continuing operations before income taxes of approximately $204.6 million for the year ended June 30, 2011 compared to a loss from continuing operations before income taxes of $20.1 million for the year ended June 30, 2010. The significant change results primarily from an impairment of estimated proved reserves of approximately $172.9 million, which the Company anticipates recording upon the completion of its review of the financial statements.
Cano halted today? news?
OK- got the name change... It's a Good day in Cano-ville..
Will we clear 20 cents this week? stay tuned.--

Latimer and Homier are certainly big shoes, and well connected, and Latimer's deal with Prize- Magnum Hunter may just replay out here again?.
Not sure what 10K will bring in terms of PPS--
some rev enhancement via cost containment, but writing down the "reserve revenue" that can not be immediatly extracted may hurt?
CFW board on both iHub and Yahoo are pumper basher with little real consideration of facts- just AUDI65's opinions...
cheers,
Natural Gas Prices Sink With Slowing Economy
The economy has hit a bit of a slump recently. Various commodity stocks are down, including oil and natural gas. Not only is the U.S. economy slowing, but the global economy is losing strength even further. What does this mean for natural gas?

Did you catch Seaohtoo's comment re: pressure CO2 line near CFW Cato Property?
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=67895295
"4. Completion of pipeline right of way for the Company's proposed 41 mile pipeline from Kinder Morgan CO2 Company LP's Cortez Pipeline to the Company's Milnes and and Chaveroo oil fields. "
Completion of "right of way" means buying property or rights? So project not near completion, but Latimer is/would be in a good position to sell the Cato property once the line is formalized?
Not wanting to "pump" on the CFW board, or get into arguments with AUDI65 and his dime predictions...
Oil Operators and Contractors Nailed with Harsher Regulations
Oil and gas exploration and production rules seem to be getting harsher and harsher as time goes on. Recently oil operators and contractors have seen the brunt of increased regulations. Where is all this coming from? It could be remaining effects of the Gulf oil spill, considering drilling will begin there again soon.
Find additional charts and research here: http://turnkeyoil.com/2011/10/12/oil-operators-and-contractors-nailed-with-harsher-regulations/
Looks like oil might be improving a bit...
CFW--- not much selling going on now... 12 a bottom.. or is it just a couple of up days with oil higher?
Oil in the ground is still reserves, but looks like they can not count it as potential revenue for ER?
Penn West Petroleum Stock Perfection

Thanks for the tip off, I'll start my due diligence!
Check out SIOR when you have time... Sandridge just sold a neighboring lease for $2,200/acre. SIOR has 7,000 acres in the heart of the play held by production & options to acquire more in time. The current acreage alone is very conservatively valued @ over &10MM in the event of a buyout, but their market-cap is less than $1.5MM. They start a horizontal sidetrack from an old vertical well this month, kicking off their drilling campaign...
Low Float... A buyout would be a perfect way for a major to increase acreage in Oklahoma's Mississippian Lime Play... New Horizontals coming in @ over 2,000 bbl/day (in some cases within this play) + considerable natural gas production...
CFW is now just a long term hold-- Latimer and Co will redo the books and sell it off like Prize in a year or so?
Only real downside is BK...... so not going to watch it closely from now on......
Look at CYDE and PCFG if you want some non-oil stability...

Interesting. Learning something new every day.
CFW- Loss from operations = "paper" loss due to SEC rule?
They can't count it if not ready to extract with financing and plan in place, but oil in ground is still valuable to a prospective buyer?
Guess Johnson was counting it previously,
These decreases primarily are the result of the application of the requirements of the SEC’s amended Rule 4-10 of Regulation S-X. Among other things, guidance for Rule 4-10 of Regulation S-X for the reporting of estimated proved undeveloped reserves requires that a company must have adopted a development plan and have made a final investment decision for the development of such reserves. The mere intent to develop is not sufficient for reporting estimated proved undeveloped reserves. For all reserves, Rule 4-10 of Regulation S-X requires that there must exist, or there must be a reasonable expectation that there will exist, the financing required to implement the development projects. Due to the Company’s current financial constraints, including continued losses, defaults under its loan agreements, no available borrowing capacity, constrained cash flow, negative working capital, and limited to no other capital availability, the Company does not have a reasonable expectation that it can obtain the financing required to implement these projects within a reasonable time, even though the Company believes these projects, in and of themselves, remain technically feasible and economically attractive. Therefore, the Company anticipates recording the aforementioned impairment to its reserves.
CFW- revenue (unaudited), $7.5Mil. inc from 6.7 M last qtr, and $26.127 M for the year.
Latimer's cost cutting, vs Loss "required" for stuff they can not get out of the ground right now?

CFW-- Latimer's MO...
"He was a director of Prize Energy and its audit committee chairman from October 2000 until its acquisition by Magnum Hunter Resources in March 2002, and he continued as a director and the audit committee chairman of Mangum Hunter until October 2004."
Latimer worked it for 2 years, sold, then milked the gig for another 2 years..
What do you recall of Prize? like CFW that was bought at at discount after Dot.com bust?
Need to DD what happened to Prize PPS during this period... Do you have any ?
