pt. is 2.45/share This is 1/2 price right now. My thought. pt p/e is 6 low for a phone co. When the merger completes? Dividends? I think about .07 Check the corporate policy no profits should pay 3% of market cap. profits pay 25% of eps Even with a rioforte complete loss Yet that probably wont occur. Plus credit outlook stable. Tv will play a roll in profits by years end too. OPPORTUNITY + here. By August banks be holding. Big banks. All signs point to a winner . Yet it is complicated. Risk is not as much here as other foreign companies. This is the new York stock exchange . Banks own .
Outlook now stable. Bargain at these prices. Trading nicely at support.
6k out earlier. OIBR discloses to its shareholders and the market in general that Fitch announced yesterday its review of the credit rating attributed to the Company, downgrading the long-term rating global scale credit rating from BBB- to BB+ and the long-term domestic scale credit rating from AA+ to AA. The outlook is now stable.

Ive bought twice now. I have no expectations. I am putting it in the closet for 5 years. unless its 12.00 in two. Lose it all I wont even blink. I think it is a very high volume stock for now.Think about it. Over 25 million dollars traded here in one day. same yesterday. someone wants it. I think its a golden goose. Give it some time. Let it keep paying dividends. It is riskier than a s&p company but its the same size. Big company . Big revenues. New York stock exchanges misguided priceing now. The dilution of the offering. My thought. Those shares are over half traded by now. Big banks backing this. If rioforte pays late no big deal. They don't need the money to operate. They sold a billion dollars in assets to sprint. A BILLION for under a dollar.Makes good sense to me. look into it.50 million subcribers.plus pay tv. This is selling at a discount for now. A big discount.
I just hauled off and bought another 1000 shares yesterday
at .67 to bring my 1.00 average down. This bump helps alot.
Wish I had bought more.
looks good at .66.. co. still has long term potential
Got out of this about a month or so ago @ .95. Might have to catch me some on this dip. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
My confidence is in long term performance here. They had 3 billion dollars in cash and just made a billion dollar sale. Wall street is talking bad about this but major banks are behind it. I think there are big players trying to get it on the cheap. This debt talk is ridiculous. Look at the customer subscriber base. Ill ride it to 12.00 or till it is no longer tradable. Big money here. Market is insane. Time to buy more. ill remain confident here even if it gets dropped to the otc stocks. This one is so undervalued im loving it. I have ten years I hope. I feel that if someone was young and bought this and forgot it that by the time they were ready to retire 1000 dollars would probably be millions . If you could just wait thirty years here.
plan to hold till at least jan 2015.. easy 100% gain
Got in OIBR today, once the dust settles should be fine, merger or no merger! I think in the present controversy OI has the upper hand(in comparison to PT),hope I'm not mistaken.
Both Portugal Telecom and Oi are extremely cheap at current levels, and the combined company is an absolute steal when compared to Spain's Telefonica SA (NYSE: TEF ) , a competitor these two merged to compete against more efficiently.
Portugal Telecom is trading at only 7.75 times trailing earnings and has a healthy 10.04% profit margin. It is trading at only 1.19 times book value. Compare that to Telefonica's P/E of 13.14 and 2.63 times book value, and you can see there is quite a disconnect here.
The discount of Oi is even more stark, though the exact figures are a lot more difficult to determine because of the large new placements of shares aimed at reducing its debt and completing the Portugal Telecom merger.
Oi's offering could be as many as 5.75 billion shares, and at those levels would put trailing P/E at about 11, with a price book of 0.52 -- clearly still a substantial discount despite the recent dilution of shares.
Waiting out the merger process is going to be arduous, but for those willing to look to the long term there is a lot to like about either Portugal Telecom and Oi, and even more reason to be optimistic about the merits of the combined company at these levels.
I dont understand the stock market. They made a billion dollar sale. Over 1000 cell phone towers. A billion dollars. Yet the price decreases. I figure three months till the 2 billion share dilution effect is finished. Brazil is out of favor in the market. Don't know why Brazil stocks are trading so cheap. To me it looks like there is much potential . Even more so than China. This is a long established company with a growing business. Cable tv . plus telephones land lines and cells. A dividend payer in the past too. A long record of time. The last divvy was .13 Past history does not guarantee future performance but it might be a indicator. This company has made a lot of money in the past and they have 40 million + landline subscribers. I don't understand what I am missing here. Major banks backing this issue too. This share price looks ridiculously low to me. This is one of the largest phone companies in South America. I am not offering to sell or buy stock. I am just a dummy that doesn't understand. Maybe in five years or so ill figure it out
saw that they had more cash on hand than the shares are worth . something like 5.7 billion shares o/s Last divvy was .13 cents They just sold like 1000 + cell towers to sprint. This is a big revenue generateing company befor the SPO The pps was over 2.85. This is a very large company. Doing cable tv and cell and house phones. Many institutions own this. Big ones. I feel its way undervalued. They also just bought Portugal telecom the largest phone service provider in Portugal. The market is off on this one.
thxs.. have the new shares been duped already,, do we know the new share struc ?
A billion dollar sale of assets could be read either way I guess . It is a big pile of money though. Could be used for a good cause I guess like a dividend maybe. Who knows . I think that this stock has potential and I have bought it twice. Might be insane too. The way I figure it 3 or four months from now. This offering will be fully absorbed. House phones cell phones and cable tv here in two countries. Give it some time . If this one is not undervalued . I will just give up. Its gonna take awhile to absorb those two billion shares. This is a established business. The street says leave it alone . I think they want a bunch of it. I am holding my little bit here. might get some more too. I got in back in early may. I will ride this into the ground or go make a bank withdrawal in five years unless they pay dividends again. If they pay them again Ill keep this forever. Might even make it a core position. The price may fall yet but I am very confident in this one at this price for now. If it falls Im buying more. I know the risks.
is that good or bad ?
Billion dollar sale. Towers . Closes in dec
any value left here ?
Wall street playing perhaps. Short cover. Pure speculating. Large phone company . House and cell . Many subscribers . Two countries. Cable tv also.. Big money company trading like a start up. The last Portugal telecom divvy was .13 It merged here. Stocks have risks. Not a offer to buy or sell and nothing you read on here is guaranteed. This stock is a component of the NYSE. Do your research before buying a company. I feel that a two billion share issuance ipo drove this down but it is a very complex thing to fully analyze. I see a good thing here. Guess time will tell. The o/s is large but so is their company. I have read that telecoms are the last to react during a bull market also. I can not substantiate that theory though because of inadequate data access. The volume has decreased as of late. Volume rationality differs from perspectives. No reason except that it trades. Time differentiates value perceptions. If financial reports remain positive. Then its good.
1.6 mill buy at the close,,,what was that
I have not heard any talk of a r/s Yet stocks do have risk. Not offering to buy or sell. This is a well established phone company. The price of this stock has been recently hammered. I own some of this stock and nothing I say is guaranteed
any talk of a r/s ?...
new to this one... looks good ?
I don't know what it means but Portugal telecom stock was trading for 3.00+ a share recently At least that is what I think I just saw. I don't guarantee my post do your own research not a offer to buy or sell stock. I think that this should be ok Portugal telecom paid a .13 cent dividend. Utilities are generally good stocks. Guess we will see in a few years or maybe in a few days. I don't care what those smart wall street guys say. I think they are trying to hold it back so they can buy more. This is two countries of telephone service and cable tv. both house phones and cell phones internet and cable tv plus advertising. This is not a start up but it is priced like one. I guess we will have to see what the combined revenues are - the cell tower sales It is very difficult to assess its value but I think it might be quite a bit more than this by years end. This company has a lot of service subscribers. The offering has not been absorbed fully yet . That's my story and Im sticking to it. I will ride this to the ground or to the sky whichever comes or might do both first. Not worried and not depleted but the issue of that many shares had to jam the price down at first. When I see a new report I will have a much better idea of how good this will be. Right now I think that it is cheap under 2.00
Five years give it. Pay tv. telephone landlines and cells internet advertiseing. I see a golden bull here. 5 yrs. all of Portugal and Brazil communications. + pay tv. of two countries for under a dollar. pps low because of large os. This should win boreingly. This is not a baby company.
the prob is thier debt..where do u see this going ?
Good call. Got in this morning @ .78
What did I say? Baaa Bing watching this for monday to continue. Great day here. 60 min was beautiful.
Bouncing on 60 min. Waiting for confirmation.
p/e around <3 using 1st quarter profit of .14 p/s x 4=.56 EPS. cut that in half for exchange Billion dollar operation. In my figuring very cheap right now. With dividends? Excessively cheap. NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE COMPONENT. Just selling too many shares right now. 3 months I guess we shall see. .25 or ? 12.00 They are trying to market the shares now. Looks to me like a quarter of them have changed hands too. New buyers from bank holdings. This looks like a good play for a Young person. This price drop might not hold long as the market absorbs those shares. This one seems like it should be good. Way off the value right now. Wait till the dividends kick in, Look at the past ones. 3 cents is a realistic speculation on this quarter. Portugal telecom is not included in the funds being made yet. Probably should not buy a money making dividend paying company anyways. It just makes sense.
I really think the market is wrong about this one now. I can wait. Might buy more too. Chance taken.
At this point, the s/p is most definitely going to react to earnings as well as the (hopefully) PT merger. Good earnings news and you will be one happy camper (and I suggest selling a portion of your gains) and bad earnings news will not be so good.
You won't ever lose all of your money here and you won't get a 3 bagger, but your investment isn't the worst stab in the world. Lots of variables for this non-US company.
