this company had to sign a license with qcom back in the 1990's for only a small fraction of what it should have been worth so that IDCC could survive...because they did, it set the wheels in motion for qcom to become the powerhouse that they are today ...
maybe now, because of the value of the Nortel patents, IDCC will be recognized for the real value that they are ... IDCC has approx. 18,000 patents and over 200 engineers developing new ones on a regular basis ... jmho ... look at the number of shares outstanding and you will get the total picture ...
I tip my hat to you - very nicely done indeed!
originally and bought as low as $7. Have sold some through the years and then again when it got to the 58 range ... also, THANK GOD, we paid for our sons college education with this stock on the run up to 28 in spring of 2003 ...
this has been my focus stock for years and been very good to us ...
Well I hope you have a truck load of shares and you can take some big profits for yourself :)
You got in around the low teens then?
I have been in it for 16 years and this is a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time coming LOL.
Hoping the news today brings the money and recognition that it deserves !
Dang JS -
That thing exploded today! Wish I had those calls yesterday - WOW!!!!
This one is up too much for me personally, but thanks and great job on having had this stock - nicely done!
Thanks JS - will take a look :)
phrantic and auroradude ... you might want to look at IDCC ... I own shares and the options look good considering the possibilities ... jmho ...
Totally agree AD. The higher-priced ones are where the $$$ are, not as much emotion, instead fundamental governance on SP. Fundamentals are much easier to track than emotional retail sentiment.
Over time, my most successful shorts have come from stocks in the high teens to mid twenties - don't know why it has worked out that way but it seems, at least for me, that this price range is better than others. Good example is AGO - made around $4 shorting it earlier this year....
True. Main thing I don't like about HOV is there's just too much retail support. Not enough to force a short squeeze, but enough to hold them at bay.
hmmmmmmmmm......
always there is a "next one"
No, I didn't. Came close to breaking even. I'm staying far away from that one.
Well you should have made some bucks on it - I'll be watching for it to go up more to get some short action....
Hey AD. I'm out of HOV now. Too much retail support on that POS, then housing starts were up. That's the problem with those cheap stocks, too much retail emotion ignoring fundamentals.
Man, I wish your HOV would gain some strength so I could join ya on a short there - I'm really liking that one but timing isn't quite right now IMO...wish I had joined ya when you got in...
Bottom's in on ASYS, time to load calls. The NAS has spoken loudly that tech will emerge strong.

LNKD is on strong watch for puts. Not ready yet, but starting to show signs of exhaustion. A PE of 2749.25 doesn't need much explaining! Gotta be one of the biggest overvalued POS on the big boards, at least shortie thinks so, he's short 42.59% of the float. Float is only 7.84M. Institutional holding 49.42%. This one could drop like an anchor in a wading pool.

No problem AD. I'm always glad to hear from you.
Hey buddy -
sorry for the looong delay in replying - had to go out of town to get my knee worked on - should be back full time on Tues. this week....
Closed UNG calls with +41% gain. Looks like it could run more, the chart is very bullish, but being cautious. If there's a pullback I'll be looking for re-entry. All those gaps up plus 11.50 resistance point made me nervous, so I chickened out.
FXY on red alert for puts. It's not ready yet, but recommend keeping a close eye on it.
Answers are starting to surface on natural gas. This explains the unusually heavy big-block buying I've been witnessing for some time now.
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Chesapeake Energy Corp. drew positive comments from analysts on Tuesday after it said it would spend $1 billion to promote wider use of natural gas as a transportation fuel, starting with a $150 million investment for Clean Energy Fuels Inc. and $155 million for privately held Sundrop Fuels.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Clean Energy Fuels Corp. /quotes/zigman/102863/quotes/nls/clne CLNE +8.22% shares rose 15% to $15.05 on Tuesday morning. Chesapeake Energy Corp. /quotes/zigman/126832/quotes/nls/chk CHK +0.44% said Tuesday it would invest $150 million in over three years to fund development of roughly 150 liquefied natural gas truck fueling stations. Raymond James analysts, who have a strong buy rating on Clean Energy, said its count of LNG fueling stations could grow 50% in 12 months with the investment. After the announcement, Northland Capital Markets analysts upgraded Clean Energy stock to outperform from market perform.

Lots of natural gas buzz:

AD, good morning. You have any idea what's driving natural gas? I can't find anything. Watch Level 2 on UNG. There's been some serious buying going on for a while now, that's what prompted me to get in along with the chart. Whoever it is, is buying in big blocks consistently.
HOV..... TIMBERRRRRRRRR
There may be a Chapter 11 in their future.
You certainly nailed KBH :) and I really like your thinking on this current play - Still deciding but looks like I'll ride your coatails on it!
Thanks AD. I did real good on KBH, so I'm hoping this one plays in tandem to its anemic fundamentals. They have rising debt, falling revenue, falling sales, and are now unable to service their interest debt. My key here for entry was the 10%+ rise in price which was solely emotion driven. 49% institutionally held, so there's a good chance they could start bailing ship.
GL bud - I think you should make some $$ on it :)
Hey AD. Yes, I did. The only thing I see holding this up is retail emotion, and that is waning, it certainly isn't the fundamentals. The company appears a likely candidate for Chapter 11.
GM phrantic -
Did ya short this one? I see it did close down yesterday.
Sorry for the long response tima as I was out....
HOV is ready for a ride south. Stock's up 10%+ for the month, 17%+ for the week on poopy fundamentals and a chart showing great weakness in the price/volume action.

NP bud :)
They each have a unique "personality" and by picking only a few to play ya can get so familiar with 'em that you can constantly get winners - key to long term success IMO...esp if 1 is an overall mrkt type of play so you can always go with the flow of the mrkts....
Makes good sense AD. I'm learning and appreciate your time.
As a general rule, I like the over priced for puts and under valued for calls, but liquidity is a biggy for me - but just general rules I use, not in stone. I think it's best to find several that meet an individuals criteria and become very familiar with how each trades instead of just scanning and picking one to play...JMO
Yeah, it's a fairly recent IPO.
Yeah - another bloated pig! I don't play it personally - like BIDU better since options are more liquid than theirs....
Sounds ripe. Have you checked out LNKD? PE 2266, another bloated POS ready for a hard fall.
http://finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=lnkd
GM phrantic -
I'll be watching the overall mrkt to decide how I will exit. I like playing puts on BIDU since IMO it is one of the most bloated stocks out there at around P/E 80! Way to high for a stock with such a large mrkt cap IMO....
What's your target on BIDU?
I have not heard anything about a RM
Interesting thought. I haven't looked into them. Do you know if they are a RM?
I was going to post an update to the S&P, but this actually says it better:

UNG Chart:
Bullish close above trendline on expanded volume. Interesting divergence between Wilder's DMI and CMF/StochRSI. Level 2 plainly showed institutional block buying today, but doing so very carefully, adequately explaining the divergence. Channel displays appealing range with approximately 16 - 22 days from trough to peak presenting call/put advantage. The icing on this cake is seen in the higher highs/higher lows seen within. 5MA displays a sharp-angled upward curl suggesting a cross above 10MA likely, conforming bullishly to volume and StochRSI.
A video worth watching and an excellent read:
Excerpt:
..."To wit, the world will only supply about 979 million ounces this year from mine and recycling of scrap, of which it is estimated that 657 million ounces will be used up for non-investment purposes6. So in effect, that leaves roughly only 322 million ounces available this year for investment purposes. Converting to days (recall that at least 1.1 billion ounces traded each day) it leaves only about 1.3 million ounces per trading day of available supply. So, we are essentially trading the amount of physical silver actually available for investment, 891 times over each day! It really begs the question; just what are people trading in these markets?"

Okay AD, thanks. Appreciate that.
Volume gets reset to zero everyday, so at open they should all be at zero volume, regardless of how many contracts are still open (open interest)
Did I explain that OK?
OI is a running total of all previously opened contracts that have yet to be closed.
Hey John -
Right at this moment I am not short anything. I just got out the short side (some puts and shorts) on GE and CAT.
Haven't decided what I will play yet for this expected down side move - still evaluating...
When you get the time, would you mind explaining how it's possible to have open interest without any volume? I was looking at PSTI for calls, but am seeing a wide bid/ask, no volume, but do see moderate open interest. TIA
