Spot market tanker rates have dropped dramatically these last 6 weeks or so .... it will be interesting to see if they rebound in the New Year, or continue to head lower. They're still at highly profitable levels, but the steep drop has been alarming.

Earnings out tomorrow nite. Anyone have a take? I think they beat by 2 cents, and raise estimates for Q2.

OMM has been in a strong uptrend, and in a very strong sector as of late. Let's get some discussion going about this stock/company.

OMI Corporation is a bulk shipping company that primarily provides seaborne transportation services for crude oil and petroleum products in the international shipping markets. As of March 28, 2003, the Company owned or chartered a total of 38 vessels. The Company's vessels are primarily classified into two vessel types, Suezmax tankers, which generally carry crude oil from areas of oil production to refinery areas, and product carriers, which generally carry refined petroleum products (such as gasoline and aviation fuel) from refineries to distribution areas. The Company's fleet is comprised of 24 product carriers and 14 crude oil tankers, including eight Suezmax tankers. The Company provides two aspects of vessel operation, technical operation, which involves maintaining, crewing and insuring the vessel, and commercial operation, which involves arranging the business of the vessel.
