NEXTLEAF SOLUTIONS PROVIDES A CORPORATE UPDATE AND COMMENTS ON FINANCIAL RESULTS FROM THE FIRST QUARTER

United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted the Company a patent for a process resulting in a solventless cannabis concentrate, adding to the Company's dynamic and expanding U.S. patent portfolio.
The Company owns 12 issued U.S. patents and over 60 issued patents globally for the extraction, purification, and delivery of cannabinoids.
"The world's largest cannabis company launching the industry's first patent infringement lawsuit against a multi-national pharmaceutical company in December 2020 demonstrates the value of patents and intellectual property in the cannabis industry, similar to biotech and life sciences," stated Paul Pedersen, CEO of Nextleaf Solutions.
"We're excited to start 2021 with the 2nd largest portfolio of U.S. patents among all cannabis companies, and a validated extraction platform to produce low-cost cannabis distillate from Canada's abundant supply of biomass inputs," said Paul Pedersen, CEO of Nextleaf Solutions.

Think about it like any other patent out there if someone wants to use it they have to pay, and if your process is the best or among one of the best then the future $$$ is in the patents. It is my understanding this is their 5th patent in Israel, and they hold multiple US patents as well.

I'm not an expert in the industry and its still so new and evolving... but it seems like these patents, if the process is proprietary and performs better than other current and newly developed processes, could be a massive power play in the cannabis and hemp industry. Everything is speculation anyway so, this thing is wayyyy undervalued.
And more great patent news.
Vancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - February 16, 2021) - Nextleaf Solutions Ltd. (CSE: OILS) (OTCQB: OILFF) ("Nextleaf", "OILS", or the "Company"), the world's most innovative cannabis processor, announced today the Israeli Patent Office has granted the Company a patent for its foundational process for producing low-cost cannabis distillate, Nextleaf's fifth issued extraction patent in Israel.
With the entire industry trying to find a way to lower production cost... I mean. how much lower cost can you get, producing HIGH QUALITY distillate with biomass? Game changing. I hope it dips a bit or stays sideways in Q1/Q2 so I can accumulate more.
Well, that said, I see 3 people with foresight. Congratulations to us. Patience practice is what I need anyway so OILY is right down my alley.
But a patent on being able to triple the strength of product (Acetylation) and to be able then process the stuff the rest have been throwing away or tilling back under to add organics (vegetation) just to increase tilth looks like a monster to me. I have a friend that grows several acres (legally) in OK and this would be a great outlet for the stuff in the shed that overheated. Capice?
I agree. Once MJ is legalized in the USA on the Federal Level this should be a prime buy out candidate. However, until then I see this under the radar and trading sideways because it's not promoted with pictures of mouth watering flower heads like everyone else is doing. In other words, it's boring. BUT, this is a sleeper IMO
Anyone else see this taking off in 2021? They seem to be making major moves under the radar...
That just has got to be hot news. Acetylated weed 3X the potency. Nice trick.

VANCOUVER, June 1, 2020 /CNW/ - Nextleaf Solutions Ltd. ("Nextleaf", "OILS", or the "Company") (CSE: OILS) (OTCQB: OILFF), Canada's most innovative cannabis extractor, announced today that it has been issued more patents in North America, Asia, and Europe. These additional patents were awarded in jurisdictions including, but not limited to: the United States; Spain; Portugal; Poland; Malta; Ireland; Denmark; and, Cambodia. These latest issued patents pertain to the Company's unique method of extracting and separating cannabinoids and terpenes.
These patents extend the Company's existing patent portfolio to protect methodologies relating to the removal of fats and waxes during the extraction and purification process, achieving more efficient throughput rates and a higher quality distillate. Less refined cannabis extracts contain chlorophyll, fats, and other impurities that result in undesirable flavours and aromas.
With the latest patent issuances, OILS has advanced its intellectual property ("IP") stack to over 35 issued patents, and 65 pending patents, for the industrial-scale extraction, and distillation of cannabinoids. With a 100% pending application to issued patent success rate, the Company has developed defendable IP around the most efficient methods for producing distilled THC and CBD at scale within a regulated environment.
OILS considers European IP protection to be particularly important due to the increasing demand for medical cannabis and CBD products in these rapidly legalizing markets. Prohibition Partners projects the legal European cannabinoid market will be worth more than US$39 billion by 2024, compared to US$37 billion for the more mature North American market by the same time.
The Company's patent portfolio includes protection around the methodologies and technology necessary to efficiently process dried cannabis and hemp biomass into high-purity THC and CBD oils that are used in the manufacturing of cannabinoid formulations and products.
"We expect these patents will have a major impact on the production and sale of standardized cannabinoid-based products in Europe over the twenty year life of the patents," said Paul Pedersen, CEO. "These are jurisdictions that collectively manufacture and export over 70% of all drugs and medicines consumed globally, making European IP protection very important to our long-term global strategy", continued Pedersen.

In 2019, the firm beame the first public company granted multiple patents for industrial-scale extraction and purification of cannabinoids
Nextleaf Solutions Ltd (CSE:OILS) (OTCMKTS:OILFF) closed out 2019 by obtaining its 11th patent - for its filtration stack used in post-extraction processing of THC and CBD oils.
The company has now been issued these patents by four international patent offices in key markets of Canada, the United States of America, Australia, and Colombia.
"Given the abundant supply of lower-grade dried cannabis, we believe processors that establish a competitive advantage by utilizing superior technology to transform otherwise unsellable biomass into high-purity THC and CBD oils at a lower cost than competitors, will generate better margins and build a sustainable long term business," Paul Pedersen, the CEO of Nextleaf Solutions, noted in a statement on Monday.
Running through the milestones last year, the group noted it had become the first public company granted multiple patents for industrial-scale extraction and purification of cannabinoids.
In June, it acquired a US patent pending hydrocarbon extraction process and award-winning formulation for THC concentrate, commonly known as "shatter".
It said it remains committed to developing and monetizing its intellectual property (IP) for innovative cannabis 2.0 products.
Notably, it started generating licensing royalties in 2019, and expects to realize between C$5 million and C$10 million in licensing royalties in 2020.
Other highlights included the completion of its custom extraction plant in December. This phase 1 plant, operating within the Nextleaf Labs Ltd. licensed production facility, can process the same amount of cannabis biomass into a refined oil as eight large supercritical CO2 extractors.
In September, Nextleaf acquired intellectual property (IP) pertaining to water-soluble cannabinoid formulations. The technology uses food grade emulsifiers already approved by Health Canada to create water-soluble cannabinoids that are shelf stable and deliver fast onset time.
Nextleaf believes fast-acting THC and CBD emulsification technology in cannabis beverages will prove disruptive to the alcohol industry and it expects to monetize this technology in 2020.
And in November, Nextleaf completed commissioning of its automated vape cart filling line that has capacity to fill 3,000 vape cartridges per hour.
Shares in Toronto nudged up 1.67% to C$0.30 on the day.
