I need the swampers to get over to the build a board topic and support my logo! #9 getting bummed was #1 (popular vote) and now I'm not even in the top 3 - bummer
swampers unite for swampers
I don't think you'd want to give the impression of gambling. Besides, you want something totally new and unique. There's already poker with the stars on some cable channel... and I think it is for charity.
Hundred grand polo shirts pumped by People Mag... hmmm... doesn't strike a chord. Yeah, I know it's only an example... Keep thinking about it, Nyc... and don't get us in trouble with the boss... Matt knows where the swamp is
Castle, actually there was a poker angle someone came up with B-). It went kind of like this. Follow the money, poker is hot as hell, everyone either watches or plays poker today. Perfect for a brokerage, these guys on the final table are accounts and dudes with degrees from MIT.
OCS does some marketing with super nice Polo shirts which have the OCS logo on it. Open a $100,000 account is the only way you get one of these shirts. Then OCS pays the buy-in of some of the country's best poker players (and maybe a couple of posters) to play in the world series of poker and hopefully make it to the final tables with their OC shirt that People Magazine can tell you means they have a $100,000 account with Internet inspired OC startup.
Just part of the "all cylinders." B-) Actually there 's an entire marketing plan based on nice polo shirts.
Matey, how you doing? Hear you have been getting a lot of rain up there in the territory as of late?
gee, can I write here? I guess I'm soppose to shut up. Matt seems to think I write like shit (dah, been doing that for nearly 10 years) and should stick to yelling and writing checks..........
Mark is exceptionally good at putting stockbrokerage firms together, believe me, it's more paperwork and check writing, and fingerprints and bullshit than you can imagine. Marc owned/created 5 maybe 6 brokerage firm, including the last one
He's our consultant, go to California corp records for the owner of OCS, then you'll have my name, after that I don't really know why you'll post my name, a simple question would work fine.
Oh NO! Not another one, judd???

Judd, you mean about the...
"Heck, I was just joshin' ya."
...criminal record????
Most Wanted Matey
hehehehe B-)
Heck, I was just joshin' ya.
I never figured you for one who would bribe the FBI ... especially beings you owe the IRS so dang much money!
merrily@juddzfarm.rollalong
Never met him nor did business with him, he was a used car salesman who became a broker and was thrown out of the business within a few years of his entry.
I'm a simple man, a Appalachian mountain schooled kid who went to wall street 2 days after graduating slippery rock to see the elephant. Did that twenty years ago and am still in the business today with a record as clean as a baby's ass, I'll let that record stand on it's own.
I posted the article because of it's real interest which is how a two bit Egyptian, non-educated, criminal, self-promoted himself from a simple platform of the finanical boards of Silicon Investors into a multimillion dollar operation.
Gee, if something like that could happen just think of what a beloved, honest, cat-nip farmer living in a Northwestern American rain forest could do? B-)
Me, I'm not looking to bribe FBI agents or anything fancy like that. I'm simply looking to provide the best service at the lowest cost and be bigger than E-Trade.
Sooo NYC, Does that mean that you're looking for a new partner now??
I have a criminal record and some spare time if you're interested!

Jury Finds Elgindy Guilty
Of Fraud in Stock Scheme
Associated Press
January 24, 2005 1:00 p.m.
NEW YORK -- A former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent and an Internet penny stock adviser were convicted Monday of mining government computers for confidential information they used to manipulate the stock market.
Former agent Jeffrey Royer was convicted of racketeering, securities fraud, obstruction of justice and witness tampering for leaking details of FBI investigations and executives' criminal histories to Anthony Elgindy, a stock picker based in San Diego.
Mr. Elgindy was convicted of racketeering, securities fraud and extortion for his role in the scheme. He dropped his face into his hands and sobbed uncontrollably as the jury foreman read the verdict; U.S. marshals led him weeping from the courtroom.
Prosecutors said Mr. Elgindy bet against penny stocks and drove down their prices by publicizing damaging information he received from Mr. Royer. Mr. Elgindy also extorted companies by offering to withhold the information in exchange for cash, prosecutors said.
Mr. Royer even tipped off the Egyptian-born financial analyst to an FBI probe into whether he profited from advance knowledge of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks by selling stocks that plunged after the attacks, prosecutors said. Mr. Elgindy wasn't charged in that investigation.
Defense attorneys contended Mr. Royer fed FBI data to Mr. Elgindy and another trader as part of a free-lance effort to sniff out corporate fraud. They argued the former agent believed Mr. Elgindy needed the information as a starting point for finding out more about companies the two could investigate together.
Mr. Elgindy's defense similarly argued that the trader released the government information on his subscription Web site because he was crusading against corporate malfeasance.
Mr. Royer was an agent in the Gallup, N.M., office investigating mostly crimes on Indian tribal land. He planned to leave the FBI and work as a private investigator for Mr. Elgindy and other traders, prosecutors said. Mr. Royer also thought the trader and his associates would help him pay off tens of thousands of dollars in personal debt, they said.

Melting heart ...
I took Abby (4) to work with me yesterday. I spent the afternoon answering an endless, seriously ... endless(!) amount of four year old questions as I went about my business. The highlight of Abby's day was a stop on the way home at 31 Flavors and a sugar cone. The highlight of mine was when we got back home.
Abby says, "I have a secret to tell you." I leaned down and she whispers into my ear, "I love you, Judd." and gives me a peck and a squeeze. Maybe that's nothing too special for you folks used to having kids around, but for an old childless bachelor ... I melted right into my boots.

Viv, Despite my personal distain for military service, I'm glad to hear it's working out for your nephew. I'm REALLY glad that nobody shot him!
That was a well written piece.

Viv's Corner...
Boots in the sand....
I hadn't seen my nephew in two years. The last time I did see him, he seemed the same, goofy, kid I'd always known. The only difference was he was dressed in his Army dress uniform and looked very dapper indeed.
On the last visit, Christmas 2002, we spoke of his impending deployment to Iraq. A bit nervous, he was nonetheless like every soldier I know - determined to do the job he trained for. "Aunt Viv?" he asked..."Did you know there are over 200 ways to kill a person using your bare hands?" I shook my head, a little nervously, as I looked into his intent brown eyes. Yes, my nephew had been trained a killing machine.
He went to Iraq, as part of the 82nd Airborne. He was a decoder, and involved in Special Ops. As such he traveled - in country - with small patrols...at night, under cover of darkness. His night-vision equipment became easier for him to see through than his own eyes in daylight.
Two tours in Iraq, two times his boots hit the sand before I saw him this past Christmas.
He seemed taller, much, much, older...and undoubtedly wiser. No longer did he act goofy. No longer did he sit around discussing video games, X-Boxes, or the latest in computer technology.
Despite warnings, from his family, that he did NOT want to speak of Iraq - whenever we sat down that is all he did speak of.
He said he didn't understand the media coverage, that NO ONE did. He said for all the sensational news, there were thousands of unreported stories. Acts of bravery, kindness, compassion, and humanity on the part of an American force who understood, way better than the average person, just what is being fought for and against there.
While not condoning the actions at Abu Grahib, he asked if one person even remembered Jessica Lynch? Did they know how she suffered at the hands of her captors? How her body, broken and battered, held a spirit that burned so brightly? How frail she looked, he said, when they got her back.. (confirming - without saying what I had thought, that he had some hand in the rescue).
He looked me in the eye and said, "Aunt Viv, I cannot tell you how many Iraqi I have killed. At first, you get sick...then it becomes mechanical and you do as you are told." I asked if that meant he thought we shouldn't be there. "Oh, no, no, no!" he said. "If we don't fight them there, we fight them here." Echoing the sentiments of Tommy Franks.
"Do you support the President?" I asked. "Yes, I do." was his simplistic reply. Needing more, I asked.."Why?" Nephew grabbed his 11-yr. old brother, tousled his hair, and with tears in his eyes he replied.."So this little guy can grow up without the fear that his school bus, his school, the mall where he'll hang out as a teenager and try to act cool, or the movie theater where he'll steal his first kiss, will suddenly become the target of a suicide bomber or other act of terrorism."
I couldn't add anymore, so I changed the subject. He's getting out - for good - this summer, and in the fall he will continue his pre-med studies. His eye on Duke University School of Medicine in 2 years.
I've no doubt he'll make it, and that's one graduation I will be proud to attend.
Awesome, husker!!! eom
Good news - Doc approved working 1/2 days starting in the morning!!! Sweet
Dang, Husker. It sounds like you're having a tough go of it.

Thanks nyc..
you've confirmed my suspicions.
Matey, I have watched gold carefully during the last 20 years of war, recession, recovery, surging oil prices, surging stock market, surging real estate, 911, market crashes and the only "flight to quality" I've seen is towards the dollar or dollar based assets such as treasuries not gold.
Gold also doesn't seem to react to inflation as we all learned in business 101 because most of the mines have fixed costs to remove the gold from the ground and any upward movement in the commodity price translate into pure profit, hence the mines start cranking out more gold.
I've been hearing about gold since 1981, if the shit actually ever does hit the fan the first thing I would want is water, food and guns with many bullets. The last thing I would want to be lugging around the desert is gold, a feller with a hogleg would get the drop on me taking my gold, water and food. B-)
With that said I still dabble in XAU options from time to time. B-)
nyc, hear a lot of noise about gold..
BUT, I remember the 80's and notice today all the cheering about gold finally getting back up to the price it was 16-18 years ago.
I think I'm hearing hype over temporary spikes.
What say you?
Hello ONEBGG...
Well, let's see....in the last year we've married off 2 daughters, had one of them announce we're going to be grandparents (baby girl due May 1), and are now planning the wedding of our youngest son. Only one left, not married, is the oldest...and he's mighty close to proposing to his girlfriend.
So, how has the 'world' treated me? Well, I'm broke, tired, and supremely happy...so I guess I've been treated well, indeed.
How are things for you?

They say it's part of the cost of living in paradise. Well, I guess those people would beg to differ. B-)
Maybe those suffering from mud slides will learn to plan and plant, I'm glad you and yours are safe.
Fourth Body Pulled from California Mudslide Debris
By Steve Gorman
LA CONCHITA, Calif. (Reuters) - Rescue crews on Tuesday pulled a fourth body from the massive pile of mud and debris covering much of a Southern California community after a landslide prompted by two weeks of nearly unrelenting storms.
Authorities have said that up to 27 people may still be buried amid homes crushed when a steep hillside above the Ventura County enclave of La Conchita gave way.
Among those still missing and presumed buried in the muddy wreckage are three young girls and two teenagers who have not been seen since the slide on Monday afternoon.
Crews have worked furiously since then to find victims, but were forced to pull back for several hours overnight during a heavy downpour, fearing a second mudslide. They returned in the predawn hours to drop microphones and fiber-optic cameras into crevices in the wreckage.
By morning, as the skies finally began to clear, 75 emergency workers were back at work on the mound with shovels, picks, chain saws and their bare hands in a race to find the missing in the narrow slip of land between the Pacific Ocean and hills about 80 miles north of Los Angeles.
Authorities said the slide had smashed houses together, making it harder to dig but also creating more potential airspaces in which survivors might still be found.
Of the 14 injured in the slide, 12 were taken to hospital and two were listed in critical condition.
It was the second landslide to hit the area in a decade. A retaining wall built after a 1995 slide was swept away by Monday's torrent of rain-soaked hillside.
MAN SEARCHES FOR WIFE, THREE DAUGHTERS
One distraught man who had been digging by hand on Monday in a bid to locate his wife and three young daughters amid what remained of their home tried to return to the search area on Tuesday morning but was detained by police.
Dramatic images captured by local television crews on Monday showed a roaring avalanche of dirt, brush and rocks as the hillside gave way on a ridge some 500 feet above the homes, and residents ran for safety.
It was the worst moment in five days of floods and mudslides, brought on by a series of winter storms that have pummeled California since mid-December, bringing 40 percent more rainfall than the area typically gets all winter.
Three residents were pulled alive from pockets in the rubble of their homes after they were located with listening devices, officials said. Emergency crews found the last of those survivors about four hours before suspending work.
The last survivor found on Monday was a woman tucked into a small space some eight feet below the surface, said Scott Cameron, a member of the Ventura County Fire Department search and rescue team. She's "the luckiest person on Earth," he said.
At least 11 people have been killed in the storms, which meteorologists said were particularly damaging because they struck back-to-back.
Normally dry Southern California soil was so saturated that it could no longer absorb the downpours. Rivers and flood control channels were also full or overflowing.

So far, so good. While on the phone everyone in the rest of the country asks about our "bad" weather here.
However when it hasn't rained in over a year us Californians love rain and pray for it to continue, so what a few houses fall off cliffs and into the ocean, water is life and Southern California needs all the life it can get.
Hopefully we can fill up that lake Meade while we're at it.
Hey NYC, You staying dry! I'm assuming you are above the flood areas but thought I should ask.
Hi Viv!!! Long time no see, How's the world treating you old friend?
Wow, husker! I like the one on the top left. It's very cool and contemporary looking.
Yep NYC,
Looks like the drought is being addressed if not eliminated.
We were supposed to get those storms here in Prescott but very little rain came. We could use any you all don't need!

About 180 Rescued From Cars in California Snow
By PAUL CHAVEZ, AP
LOS ANGELES (Jan. 8) - About 180 people, including some who spent more than 12 hours stuck in deep snow in the San Bernardino Mountains, were rescued Saturday as the latest in a series of storms struck California. The storms quickly moved eastward, closing all three major highways over the Sierra Nevada.
Up to 10 feet was expected over the weekend at the Sierra's higher elevations, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow piled up 3 to 4 feet deep along a 15-mile stretch of highway between the Snow Valley ski resort and Big Bear dam, said Tracey Martinez, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County fire department.
