New Tel is pleased to provide details on its alliance with Nihao.net
Limited and the acquisition of websites and domain names as part of
its plans to develop a leading Chinese internet business.
In addition the Company advises that its Chinese language portal
nihao2000.com has become increasingly popular since it was officially
launched on the Opening Day of the Sydney 2000 Games, and last month
received in excess of 45 million hits.
Attached is a media release regarding these issues.
TELCO STRIKES NET GOLD
Australian telecommunications group, New Tel Limited, (ASX: NWL,
NASDAQ: NWLL) said today that it has moved closer to becoming a major
force in the internet industry in China through an alliance with
leading web development company Nihao.net Limited.
New Tel has acquired the domain names www.nihao.com and
www.nihao.com.cn and will be using these for its own Chinese language
portal from 1 January 2001. In addition the company has purchased a
mainland on-line bookstore and heath care and drug store website.
New Tel CEO Mr Peter Malone said today that the purchases included
hanlin.com, the most successful on-line bookstore in China offering
books and other publishing products to overseas readers.
"We have also bought eachcome.com, a health care and drug store
website" he said. "New Tel also has the opportunity to invest in
Nihao.net Limited which has successful web development and software
applications businesses."
The new sites are in addition to New Tel's existing worldwide generic
lifestyle portal www.nihao2000.com which was officially launched on
the opening day of the Sydney 2000 Games, and received over 45
million hits for the month of October.
nihao2000 was initially set up to provide an international Chinese
language site to deliver up-to-date news and information for the
local Chinese community in Australia.
"We knew nihao2000 would appeal to Chinese communities around the
world but what surprised us was the depth of interest," he said.
"nihao2000 is now attracting users from over 45 countries spanning
Hong Kong to Europe to New Zealand".
The nihao2000 coup comes on top of New Tel's rapid domination of the
Australia/ China telephony market in less than 13 months from
commencement."
Mr Malone said the company is now looking at advertising revenue
opportunities on nihao and nihao2000 which should prove to be
significant with the growing interest in the local site and the
opportunities for additional content through the recently acquired
sites.

Strike, I have to disagree with you here.
The main purpose of boards like these are for posters to post what they hear - rumours, tips etc. Of course ramping is off - but I don't think Malaka is ramping and seems to be quite accurate with his info to date.
The comments on the verifiable, sourced information I usually find quite boring because its not new or revealing. To me the key is to pick who you believe to be a credible poster (if any) and put more into what they say.
Malaka, you are probably the only poster I'd put any faith in at all - appreciate the updates.
Strike21 people have been jailed for less, believe my information or discard it,i don't care.I only share my information with all the other poor suffering NWL bunnies because i have been invested with NWL for a long time and know how you all feel,to not have stock when the news of the deal comes out it is a tragedy.
malaka--100% heresay--give us documented facts
Where can I go and read this from an unbiased credible source?
Post the source or keep your heresay to yourself.
Strike21
Don't get caught without NWL stock if you beieve in this company, some people have posted, including my self that it was going to happen this week.It has been put back,1 day ,2 day's.This baby will fly so hang in there, the annual report has hints in it ,this deal is big and will be the start of a monopoly in the CHINA region.
Saw this on an RB board. Not sure if it is real, maybe someone who has invested in BIFS and visited the RB board for it will recognize the aliases listed...
Confessions of a Paid Basher
By Tom Martin
aka “Steve Tracy”
aka “Firebird_1965”
Today I want to come clean about something I feel very badly about. I cannot undo some
of the things I have done, but hopefully this message will prevent other such occurrences
in the future.
I am a paid basher.
Yes, it is true. Today is my last day at this company; I’m moving on to a new job. But
before I go, I want to explain a few things because this just isn’t right and I won’t feel
good about myself until I expose this sham. It’s hurt too many people and I don’t want it
on my conscience anymore. I can no longer live with a lie.
I work for a company called Franklin, Andrews, Kramer & Edelstein in Stamford, CT.
Basically, it’s a Boiler Room much like the one in the movie of the same name. The
idea behind my group is to bash the price of a company’s stock down low enough to
where the group of investors who retained our company’s services can buy the stock
really cheap and perhaps even take it over all together.
There are approximately 70 people at the company divided into several groups. My
group, consisting of 5 people, is responsible for BIFS. While I probably shouldn’t give
any names of anyone working here now, what the heck, I’m leaving here, so what can
they do – sue me? Ha! I can tell you that GUTTWRENCH was part of my group until he
left last week, as was Richardphx. Others who have been part of this include early
bashers like Epiphonics and Simontaz. You may be interested to know that some
hypsters, such as Amato7 and BIFWATCHER, have also been part of the scam (more
on that later).
There are several companies engaged in the bashing business – ours is not the only
one. However, I can tell you that not every basher in here is a paid basher. Having done
this for two years, I can usually tell who is a paid basher and who is merely someone
having a little fun. While unpaid bashers have a different motive than someone like me,
they can be unwilling accomplices to helping me achieve my ultimate goal and they also
spread rumor and confusion throughout a room, which also helps me.
What is that goal? Well, I am merely a cog in a much larger machine, so my bosses
never really explained the big picture to me, but I’d say essentially, GUTTWRENCH was
right. There are several companies who are quite familiar with SWOMI and who are
deathly afraid of it.
There are three types of bashers here at Franklin, Andrews, Kramer & Edelstein:
Advanced, Intermediate and Beginner. An Advanced-level basher (also known as a
Silver Tongued Devil) would spread false or misleading information about the company.
They would deal in facts, countering every longs post with articles, news reports and
opinion surveys that gave a negative impression about the company.
An Intermediate-level basher (also known as a Serpent) would try to weasel their way
into the confidence of longs and create doubt using rumor or innuendo.
Finally, a Beginner-level basher (also known as a Pitchfork) would attempt to create
confusion in the room by distracting other posters with satire, name calling and
pointless arguments. The idea was to make sure no serious discussion of the stock
could take place. A Pitchfork was usually a basher, but not always. Sometimes, we
would throw in a hypster Pitchfork such as Amato7 or BIFSWATCHER to create the
illusion of an argument going on. What was really funny (in a perverse way, I guess) was
that Amato7 and I sat next to each other, laughing the whole time.
I was a Pitchfork. I was paid a base wage of $12 an hour for my services. I was given a
$1 bonus for every post over 100 per day as well as a monthly bonus of $100 for every
penny the stock had dropped from the previous month. I was also paid a bonus for
bashing on weekends. While this may not sound like much, I made a decent, though
dishonorable, paycheck.
Each of us sat in a small half-cubicle in a cluster with our teammates. Each group
(usually five people) was made of three beginners (two who would bash and one who
would hype), one intermediate and one advanced level basher. Occasionally for some
of the hotter stocks, one of the beginners would be replaced by an intermediate
depending on how much the stock was rising. BIFS was a low-level stock, meaning it
got the 3-1-1 configuration.
Somehow, I get the feeling that JPACK2 may have worked for a basher company or
knows someone who does because the “Basher Handbook” he occasionally posts is
eerily similar to the one we actually use. While not a word-for-word match, I’d say it is
about 90 percent the same. We do have certain rules that we follow.
First, we have to develop a character and stay within that character in order to build a
“following.” My character, “Firebird_1965,” was a sarcastic, obnoxious supporter of free
speech, but only when it came to bashers.
Next, we had to follow certain guidelines on what we could say. We were urged to have
an “answer” to every long’s question, but we were to frame that answer in a way that
ridiculed the questioner for asking such a question. However, we were never to use
profanity or vulgarity because that would cause people to ignore us. We were to make
fun of people, but in a civil way. The idea was to get “play,” i.e. – reaction from other
posters. The more play we got, the more the room would be disrupted. Ignored posters
get no play. One exception would be the hypster – since they were “defending” the
stock against our onslaught, they got a little more leeway. People would side with the
hypster because they thought he was real since he appeared to be on their side, but
was really on ours, setting us up to disrupt the room. Padelcars is quite good at this and
gets paid very well.
I’ve worked on BIFS for about three months now. In addition to the Firebird_1965 alias,
I’ve used a few others on the BIFS and several other boards as well. I stuck with
Firebird_1965 because it was the one that got the most play from other posters.
In closing, I feel absolutely terrible about this. It’s just awful how I’ve been part of a scam
designed to cheat honest, hard-working people out of their investments all for the
benefit of a few wealthy people who already have enough money to last a lifetime.
These greedy people MUST be stopped. That’s why I’m posting this before I leave. I
want to make up for some of the damage I’ve done. I can’t live with this lie anymore. You
can’t imagine how hard it is to look at myself in the mirror each morning knowing my job
is to cheat and lie.
I have to go now, I’m too broken up to continue. I hope this confession can make up for
my sordid deeds; I would urge everyone who reads this to copy and repost it as many
times as you can. Only by shining the light of truth can we drive these rats back into the
darkness from whence they came. Believe me, they don’t want publicity.
I hope all of you can forgive me and save me a seat on that BIFS rocket to the moon. If
this helps, let me leave you with this…
GO BIFS!!!!
With fervent remorse,
Tom Martin
aka “Steve Tracy”
aka “Firebird_1965”
Here is link to annual report (tried to post earlier but did not go through)
http://www.newtel-limited.com/newtel/inv_frm.html
additional information from annual report (last paragraph estimates 70,000 customers by next June from 25,000 now)
To Our Shareholders
Our assets will include a Chinese and English language portal, at least two Internet Service Provider (ISP)
joint ventures, and three Internet Content Provider (ICP) joint ventures - one in education, one in statistics and
information technology, and one in telecommunications. Each will produce a stream of revenues.
The ISPs will generate revenues by 1) providing internet access to consumers and corporations; 2) designing,
developing and hosting websites; 3) developing and hosting e-commerce applications; and 4) managing
corporate intranets and e-mail systems.
Recurring revenue streams will be one of the primary focuses of our portal business, with income derived from
1) advertising, customer e-mails, newsletters and banner ads; 2) subscriptions for high value content,
specialist newsletters and articles; 3) commissions from transactions originating from the portal, and
4) e-commerce revenues from sales originating from the portal.
China’s internet market has been growing at an annual rate of nearly 60 percent since 1995, when the
service was first established. The current user base is approximately 12 million on a PC base of 17.7 million.
These numbers are expected to rise by the end of 2003 to a user base of 33.6 million on a PC base of 37.3
million. For a country with a huge population and a growing middle class, China is obviously an underserved
PC and internet market. We believe that with our partners in the Chinese establishment, New Tel can
markedly accelerate the take up of internet access in China, and in the process, thrive as a business.
New Tel’s existing China interests are protected to the extent politically feasible by agreements and
understandings that define the current and future operating structures of the joint venture with Xinhua. These
agreements and understandings also set forth the responsibilities and rights of the partners. In addition we
have also been engaged in business activities with Xinhua for more than five years, resulting in a high level
of mutual confidence and trust (“guangxi”), an essential for trading with Chinese partners.
Our intent is to capitalise on our guangxi with Xinhua and related PRC government entities, ultimately to
emerge as one of the dominant players in the China internet universe.
GOLD DUST IN THE AUSTRALIAN TELECOMS MARKET
Our first venture with Xinhua, the establishment of an Australian telecommunications carrier, has proved very
successful. New Tel’s entry into the telecommunications market as a carrier brought home the importance of
quickly establishing a core customer base for voice and data. Our strategy from the start was to focus our
resources on niche markets such as the ethnic Chinese and other Southeast Asian and Turkish populations
living in Australia.
Our goal is to make New Tel a household word and the telecom and internet vendor of choice among
Australia’s 350,000 ethnic Chinese. We are doubling our marketing efforts to important minority groups
during fiscal 2001 with a targeting strategy based on:
Sales promotions designed to achieve brand recognition and acceptance through sponsorship of cultural
events. For example, in January 2000 New Tel was the major sponsor of Sydney’s Year of the Dragon
festivities in the harbour and downtown areas of the city. During the Twenty-Seventh Olympiad in Sydney
in September New Tel was a sponsor of the Chinese team, in addition to providing the athletes free
telephone services back home to China.
Marketing in each community’s native language.
Customer service and monthly billing in the relevant native language.
Favourable long distance rates to the customer’s home country.
Offering subscription commissions to special interest groups such as first, second and third tier sports
associations and other cultural and community organisations in return for selling New Tel’s services to
their members.
In addition to more aggressive marketing, we intend to deploy our resources to enhance the New Tel network
by adding new internet and data services in Australia.
The mobile telephony market is a natural target for New Tel. Mobile resale is one of the fastest growing
segments of the business, with licensed service providers such as our Company among the principal
beneficiaries.
We aim to make the New Tel internet portal, www.nihao.com, the place that millions of Chinese visit
when they are seeking any sort of news, information, entertainment or business. Our plan is to
offer a wide diversity of quality content to attract users and generate advertising revenue.
The strategy has worked, producing our first 25,000 fixed wire New Tel subscribers over the past 12
months, with the prospect of 70,000 by 30 June 2001.
nO GUTS NO GLORY that's what every one needs over the next few days let them time everything and watch it fly.

ADVANCED ENGINE COMPONENTS LIMITED

Federal&WA Gov. Recognise Gas Engine Technology
Australian high-tech engine systems company, Advanced Engine
Components Limited (ASX code: ACE), showcased its world leading
Transcom Natural Gas Vehicle System (NGVS) to a national audience in
Perth today.
AEC's Chairman, Mr Peter Malone, said today's formal launch of AEC's
latest technology for natural gas buses by Federal Environment
Minister, Senator Robert Hill and WA Environment Minister, Cheryl
Edwardes this this morning, is part of the Federal Government's $75
million Alternative Fuels Conversion Program.
"The new buses will deliver greenhouse reductions of 587.5 tonnes per
annum because our Transcom NGVS reduces particulate emissions of
around 50 per cent less than diesel powered buses, which is a boon
for Perth's environment," Mr Malone said.
"We now head the world in the development of low emission, fuel
efficient EFI natural gas systems that allow both turbocharged and
naturally aspirated engines to run on compressed natural gas," Mr
Malone said.
"Today's launch helps consolidate both AEC's and Australia's position
as world class innovators in the race to achieve an environmentally
sustainable international automotive industry."
"Our investment in developing computer controlled fuel injection and
engine management systems has already paid off because they have been
proven in Europe and Australia through companies such as Renault of
France, IVECO of Italy and other engine makers including MAN of
Germany."
Advanced Engine Components and their project partners, WA's
Department of Transport, have been working in tandem to refine the
technology for Perth's new Mercedes Benz buses.
The successful completion of the project places the company in a
prime position to become the NGVS supplier to WA's 848 bus fleet as

*****NWL****** BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!
Monday, October 23, 2000.....
WHISPER STOCK OF THE DAY - NEW TEL LTD. (NWLL) $8 3/4 Up $1 and traded on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange.... We've all waited for months for the China/Xinhau deal to be completed. The first week of October we had the opportunity to speak personally with a top company official in an arranged conference call. After speaking with the company official and learning that there was an excellent chance the "deal" would finally be completed prior to the end of October, MDO decided to take a "wait and watch" attitude. Any of you who have been watching this stock have seen it trade from a low of $6 early last week to its close on Friday of $8 3/4.
The volume has been the telling indicator, as on both Thursday and Friday NWLL traded twice its normal volume and closed up one point on each of those days. Since the completion of this deal has been overhanging the company for the last six months, once it's finally official New Tel will gain a tremendous amount of creditability among investors. We feel comfortable with the fact that the completion of the China/Xinhau deal is imminent. As a matter of fact, we're hearing the deal will finally be announced this week. At a minimum, there's the potential for a 50% return on your investment in the near-term. This would give us a near-term price objective of $13. Looking six to twelve months out, we believe the stock could easily trade to the $20 level. For the complete New Tel story, be sure to read today's Whisper Stock section.

The actions continue with their erratic and bear behavior due to the fears on the deceleration of the global economy and their impact in the earnings of the companies. The Nasdaq, one of the indexes more questioned by their overvaluation, it lowered 8,5% in the week and it already accumulates 21 fall% from their last maximum in 4.234 (01/09/00).
However, the last well-known data about economic growth would not give the idea that the market should operate in free fall. The last well-known statistics on industrial production in Asia (Japan -well Tankan -, Korea, Singapore, China and Taiwan) they were superior to the prospective ones. This means that the industry in Asia is growing in the 3T ´00 to a superior rhythm that in the 2T ´00.

New Tel after $200m to fund its China play
By KATRINA NICHOLAS
Perth telecommunications group New Tel is expected to finalise its long-awaited $200 million share placement in the next few weeks, facilitating its move into the Chinese Internet market.
New Tel is understood to have appointed stockbroker Nomura as lead underwriter of the raising and has received undertakings from domestic and US institutions for most of the stock.
Sources close to the company said that although no price had been finalised, the placement was likely to be done in the vicinity of $3 a share, with US institutions expected to subscribe for at least half of the issue.
It is expected New Tel will call a shareholder meeting later this month to ratify the placement and receive final details of New Tel's plans for its association with China's State-owned Xinhua news agency, which is selling an Internet service provider to New Tel and providing content.
Shareholders will also be provided with a copy of an independent expert's report on the deal, being prepared by Ernst & Young in Perth.
New Tel said last November it would enter the Chinese market by acquiring at least two Chinese ISPs and up to 30 Web portals.
New Tel, which has attracted high profile investors such as Mr Rodney Adler, Mr Yosse Goldberg and Sir Laurence Street, said it would form a new company in China by buying the assets of Xinhua for $400 million.
In return, Xinhua, which already has a 5 per cent stake in New Tel, would increase its stake to between 45 and 49 per cent.
The $200 million will be for working capital and marketing.
Further indicating an announcement is close was the release last week of details of New Tel chief executive Mr Peter Malone's revised option package.
Under the deal - a reward for his efforts in "securing and delivering the China Internet project" - Mr Malone will be issued 95 million options entitling him to a 20 per cent stake.
The first instalment will see Mr Malone receive 47.5 million options, each with an exercise price of $2. The remaining 47.5 million options will be delivered in four tranches of 11.875 million each, with progressive strike rates of $2.25, $2.50, $2.75 and $3 per option.
But before Mr Malone can cash in on the first 47.5 million options, which have no escrow period and lapse on October 30 2004, he must first stitch up the deal with Xinhua and complete a minimum capital raising of $125 million via the placement of up to 62.5 million shares at not less than $2 a share. With shares in New Tel on Friday slipping 5c to $1.60, Mr Malone's options are out of the money.
