It's tricky though... and the interest of disclosure I don't actually keep or bear firearms myself, but the Second Amendment puts no limits on what arms the people can keep and bear, and clearly states that right shall not be infringed.
I don't know what you can do with that.
If god knows what a person is going to do before that person does it then can that person decide to do something else?
You mean like Shrub sought gods wisdom rather than his cabinet before attacking Iraq?
Actually the constitution does not say that and we have a right and have exercised that right by passing laws that regulate gun ownership. We will continue the regulate gun ownership just as we regulate other commerce activities.
LOL Well two out of three..not bad..LOL
Have some Prosecco before taking it next time...it will dull the pain..:^)
That would also mean that since you disagree with them.....that...
Guess we have to tune in later to hear the finish of this one ?? LOL
Man Ally...you keep inviting everyone in i-hub to Austin..you will have to build more than just a Cabana..LOL
"The NRA for instance represents gun manufacturers..." - Exactly!
Everyone in Austin is nice. Just look at my two good Austin Ihub friends - Longhorn and Trump - sweet as pie, no? :)
You've made a valid point.
As for all the health clubbies being friendly, smiling, and working out...maybe it's just the endorphins kicking in :)
It's because they're liberals, silly.
Enjoy the rest of the day, woofie!!
You too, Ally. It's a beautiful day!!!
New Scores for the Political Compass Test.....

Hey, maybe I should start drinking...you know I love that type, especially if they're immature! lolol

Enjoy~~I'm gone too! P O O F
Actually, you should have just told me your first scores and nothing else. I should have blocked you after I put your much better scores on so I wouldn't have had to see your new, much more dismal scores. LOL In fact, I should just remove your new scores from the database, replacing them with your old ones because I have a feeling that you must have started drinking heavily when you took the test the next two times.
Come on down...they would love you! They are absolutely the nicest group of guys/girls anywhere. We all have long ago agreed to disagree.
Do you know what you're essentially telling me? You are telling me that the liberals at your health club are "absolutely the nicest group of guys/girls anywhere." That would also mean that since you disagree with them.....that...
Why do I feel like teasing you so much today? LOL
Because inquiring minds want to know :)
We're off to enjoy something we haven't seen here all week...SUNSHINE!
Have a great day everyone!
Oh nooooooooo....I should have kept quiet and then you would just think it. lol
Come on down...they would love you! They are absolutely the nicest group of guys/girls anywhere. We all have long ago agreed to disagree.
Ally, then you defy the adage that wisdom comes with age....
hahahaha...!
I had to take it three times and every time I became more conservative! lol
You became more stupid every time you took it. No more test taking for you. hehehe
You would love my health club, woofie - They have an Obama lovefest every single day! Trust me, they've tried converting me :)
I'll be working on you too. And in the meantime, I'm joining your health club.
hahahaha...!

I just got done telling her that I'm going to make up scores for her if she doesn't tell me. LOL
LOL!!
That's SO not right ;)
Ally, you cheated and what's the worst thing about it is that your first scores were better! LOL! Just joking.....well, wait a minute.....I'm not joking. Well, I'm kinda' joking.
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend too.
Hey ally gal! Imagine running into ya here`~
Not posting mine, is private__LOL LOL!
Hi Woofie...hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
I just took the political compass test three times...so I'm posting my middle score. It's probably gonna surprise some of my liberal friends who think I am just right of Bill O'Reilly...lol. It was a fun test, although there seemed to be a few grey areas. Anyway, it was cool...thanks for posting it!
Economic Left/Right: 1.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.91
penny, I noticed that they've changed some of the questions since the last time I took it, and now there are only 3 questions that I had a problem with, whereas there were more before. These are the only ones I didn't like.
A genuine free market requires restrictions on the ability of predator multinationals to create monopolies.
I think a free market does require restrictions but by the definition of a "genuine" free market, I would assume that restrictions, by definition, wouldn't apply.....so the statement contradicts itself.
A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.
It would be a significant advantage but it would also be awful.
It is important that my child's school instills religious values.
Instilling religious "values" like not hurting others is something I'm all for, but I wouldn't want my child to be told that it's because "the Bible tells us so." It stands to reason that hurting others isn't a good thing. I don't need a religious guru to tell me or my child.
OK, I'll help you out with your problem. If a little kid comes after you with a water pistol, you are in danger of getting soaked. On the other hand, if a military tank comes after you, you are in grave danger.
I really never understood the difference between disagree and strongly disagree when you are dealing with tests. I reminds me of the lines in A Few Good Men:
Tom Cruise: Grave Danger?
J. Nickelson: Is there any other kind?
I had no problem with choosing between strongly agree or agree, and strongly disagree or disagree except in the questions that I could think of qualifications to. I'm going to take the test again (I haven't taken it since that time), and then I'll point out a question or two where I had a problem answering. Take the test again and figure out if you honestly strongly disagree/agree about something, or just disagree/agree. In other words, you are required by the rules to retake the test. hehehe Otherwise, you will have to remain after class and be stuck with additional homework. Furthermore, I might just notify your parents that you have a major problem with decision making.
Funny thing, when I changed my agrees/disagrees to Strongly..., here are my new scores:
Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -6.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.18
I guess it depends on your level of commitment!

EDIT! I'll start up a new list in a new database shortly. I only just thought of posting that, so I haven't done any preparation. LOL So, from your scores, you're not as liberal as you thought you were. I agree with you that some of the questions aren't to my liking either, because it all depends on certain things, and those things aren't included in some of the questions. Overall though, it gives a good indication of where you stand compared to others. I should have mentioned that it's well worth checking out other pages on the site.
EDIT: I just reread what you said and realized that you said there are too many black and white questions. I think the opposite! LOL
Here are my scores - pretty good test overall, but too many "black or white" questions for myliking. Then again, maybe they are gray issues to others!
Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -2.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.77
When I've completed the new database, I'll start posting the scores. On a side note, I hope you're having a great weekend.

After reading the homepage, click on "Take the test" found on the left-hand side of the page.
Since this is a brand new board, I figure that it might be fun to take this test and post the scores on the board. I did this once before, but unfortunately, there were a few nasty people who made it 'not fun.' Here's an old post from IHub though with old scores. I found that taking the test at different times resulted in different scores, the reason being that I change over time, which is what most of us do, even if we don't realize it.

That is my point - there are already a host of weapons that you cannot own, so the amendment has already had its teeth removed. The govt NEVER lets a little thing like constitutionality get in the way of a decision.
As you said in an earlier post, along the border it's a serious problem. And, it's all due to this countries insane drug war.
That's another example of how drugs and guns are linked. The only lasting answer is to legalize drugs which will remove the market for the gangs. No drugs to sell, no need to fight over territory. Mexico has a huge problem with gang related violence due the the drug habits in the US. The more we crack down on drugs the higher the street value, the more motive to get into and keep the trade.
We should be selling pot in Walgreens and collecting a tax on it.

LOL Depends on what you have in mind..LOL Dispersing it is a little tricky...I use radio controlled planes..LMAO
does it work on other things just as well?
does it work on other things just as well?
I've always found Napalm works well on Gophers..but thats just me..:^)
I never saw Caddy Shack. I know it's a must and all, but I haven' tgotten around to it.
It does not and COULD NOT know or allow for a grenade launcher, nuclear bomb or any arm you choose
Foolish, I went back and read it. What part of "shall not be infringed" am I getting wrong? It seems very straightforward.
If you want to change anything, that's what you have to change, but you'll need general concensus. It's not easy to amend the Constitution.
Most with violent intent don't purchase a gun at a store or gunshow
The pattern is straw purchases of dozens of guns that can then be resold to those with violent intent.
But groups like the the NRA resists any attempt to stem this, because such groups don't represent gun owners. The NRA for instance represents gun manufacturers and increasingly its own lucrative interests.
Market analysis will show what gun sales are likely to be worth with or without the sales to violent criminals, and face it, the numbers are a lot more robust on the "with" side of the column.
Hey, it's just business right?
All along the Mexican border gun shows have set up shop to supply the war going on to the south. Sales are brisk.
As I have said - this is a true "freedom of speech" board.
I used to love her columns. She sure had a way with words. I'm glad you didn't mind me posting that here. lol But, it was too good of an example of ridiculous lawmaking to not bring it out.
An absolute Texas gem! We miss her here! BTW, being a democrat living in Texas, I've had the pleasure of hearing her tell that story in person. It was much funnier when she was playing to the crowd!
Texas gun laws are the only thing I respect there. You are 100% correct about them having a screwed up state legislature.
This quote of yours is one of the reasons I like Arizona and Texas law: "if someone was walking down a neighborhood shooting things up - he'd be lying in a puddle of his own regrets rather quickly, I guarantee it! I believe in a measure of control, but I own 2 shotguns, 2 deer rifles and 4 pistols!"
A very high percentage of the people in these two states are well armed and in protection mode. I remember sitting outside a 7/11 once and noticed a robbery take place before getting out of the car. I had a pistol on the dash and was ready to walk in with it if the burglars started physically threatening the clerks. Fortunately, it was a peaceful robbery as they go and I didn't have to get involved. But, I was prepared to do so if they started hurting anyone. I happen to be a good shot from years of target practice.
An attorney friend sent me the following video which deals with texas law. Apparently, it has made the rounds in a number of legal circles. It really is a good example of needing to clean out some of the old blue laws. Sadly, this one is/was relatively new at the time of the taping.
It is too often politicians make a huge mess when making laws. This video is one of Molly Ivins talking about Texas lawmakers before she passed.
Warning! It is a bit risque, but, educational about Texas law, legislators and other things. Don't watch if you are easily offended. The best part of this video is watching an actual session of the Texas legislature.
I know, a shameless Caddy Shack reference! But, is there ever an unnecessary Caddy Shack reference?
Our founding fathers took great pains and faced certain criticisms to KEEP GOD out of politics, thereby mandating separation of church and state. Even they knew that there is very little reasoning, or governing by faith. Faith is an opinion or feeling and cannot be proven or legislated. To use morality to govern is wise, but to use faith or religion is fanatical, IMHO!
Them gophers deserve whatever you're about to visit on they asses dude!
Gi'm hell.
Wow - that is the first time I have ever heard anyone want to model ANYTHING after Texas law. We have the most screwed up state legislature in the world - next to NY (and probably Chicago). However, if someone was walking down a neighborhood shooting things up - he'd be lying in a puddle of his own regrets rather quickly, I guarantee it! I believe in a measure of control, but I own 2 shotguns, 2 deer rifles and 4 pistols!

All political opinions welcome - but be able to defend your position, not just bash your opponents thoughts. I would love to turn this into a board where everyone's opinion could help all of us, but if I can only further the Democratic agenda, I'll be fine with that.
