Congressional Committee Approves Federal Marijuana Legalization Bill
Sep 30, 2021
Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. House Judiciary Committee voted to advance the Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment, and Expungement (MORE) Act, a bill that would federally legalize cannabis.
Sponsored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), the MORE Act is a comprehensive federal cannabis reform bill that contains strong social equity provisions with an emphasis on restorative justice for communities most impacted by cannabis prohibition.
Statement from Matthew Schweich, deputy director of the Marijuana Policy Project:
“We’re encouraged to see that the MORE Act is once again advancing in the U.S. House of Representatives. We cannot achieve meaningful and lasting criminal justice reform in our country without ending the war on cannabis. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have the opportunity and responsibility to come together and pass legislation to finally put an end to the decades-long failure that is federal cannabis prohibition.
“States across the country have taken the lead on cannabis legalization, and now it is time for Congress to pass federal reform, a policy that is supported by a strong majority of Americans.”
About the MORE Act:
If enacted into law, the MORE Act would: remove cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act; require federal courts to expunge prior cannabis-related convictions and provide for resentencing; provide grants and funding to communities most harmed by the war on cannabis; lift barriers to licensing and employment in the cannabis industry; protect immigrants from being denied citizenship over cannabis; and allow VA physicians to recommend medical cannabis to veterans. In 2020, the MORE Act was passed by the House, but it did not advance in the Senate.
Earlier this year, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Ron Wyden (R-OR), and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) introduced a draft version of an alternative cannabis legalization bill, the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act. The final text of the bill has yet to be formally introduced.
According to the latest Gallup poll, 68% of Americans support marijuana legalization. To date, 19 states have legalized marijuana for adults 21 and over, and 36 states have legalized medical marijuana.
Interesting but there are plenty of the these guys out there now like trade desk, etc. I told myself about 7 months ago that for me to get into another penny company its has got to be solid. I will say their client base is a list of big names: Benz, EY, UCLA, etc.
I'll keep my eye on it.

BTW with all the current distractions in our government right now I'm not sure when the SAFE and other weed bills will resurface again. Very irritating. The money angle in weed stocks so obvious. As that article noted maybe NY will lead the way for other states... I thought CO might be that state seeing they're doing ok (understatement) so far.
LOOK over at DBMM right now today... massive volume moving up from nonexistence to OTC compliant on last day before grey market stocks delisted and new changes come into effect...
I'm not seeing why this stock has ticked up today. I guess it could be the general house approval of SAFE again and MAYBE some senators have changed their minds??? The Senate has not been on board with weed at all.
It could also be the good sentiments surrounding NY Governor's adding two vital members to the cannabis board to final get the ball rolling in their state.

FROM TD today:
On September 28, 2021, new amendments adopted by the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) go into effect to enhance investor protection and improve issuer transparency. These amendments restrict the ability of market makers to publish quotations for those companies that have not made required current financial and company information available to regulators and investors.
We previously communicated that ahead of the regulatory enforcement date, we will only accept orders to liquidate impacted positions (i.e. no new buy orders) starting August 13, 2021. With the fluid nature of the situation and to better align our efforts across the combined company, we have adjusted the date for restricting the securities to on or after September 3, 2021. After the amendment officially goes into effect on September 28, 2021, it may be more difficult to liquidate these securities. Quoting and market liquidity may also be very limited.

No Kidding. You and I have been here way too long. They're so tied to the weed sector and legalization, which kind of does not make sense why they are failing when there are so many states where weed is legal. One would think this product would be awesome purely from its compliance feature perspective.
But, what do I know? I only sell software in the insurance industry that is highly regulated under the heading called "surplus lines insurance" and each state has it own regulations that we have to build into software's accounting/billing system to comply with paying the surplus taxes on each policy written. That feature alone landed us tons of client. I think you see the parallel here. These guys F'd up bad. Oh yea. Whatever happened to the beta user from 2 years ago. hmmmm.
I cannot wait to find a breakeven to leave.
GLTU my friend.

What a BIG disappointment here...
This puppy needs the Senate to jump on board with House on the SAFE act and this sucker will move for all of us. Until then REFG has been awfully quite. Weren't they going to change their symbol to better reflect what they do vs. being just associated to weed? Has anybody heard anymore about the symbol change lately?
Glad to see others are jumping on board.
Cheers FX

I'm not a big Schumer fan in general but on this topic he has my support - see the last paragraph. If this ticker doesn't move on the Senate approval, assuming it gets passed, then this ticker dead... We'll see...

The U.S. House of Representatives on Monday passed legislation that would allow banks to provide services to cannabis companies in states where it is legal, a step towards removing what analysts say is a barrier to development of a national industry.
Lawmakers voted 321-101 to approve the bill and send it to the Senate.
The bill clarifies that proceeds from legitimate cannabis businesses would not be considered illegal and directs federal regulators to craft rules for how they would supervise such banking activity.
Banks have generally been unwilling to do business with companies that sell marijuana or related products, fearing they could run afoul of federal laws.
That has left companies in the marijuana industry with few options, including relying on just a handful of small financial institutions or doing business in cash.
The American Bankers Association has lobbied aggressively for the "SAFE Banking Act" bill.
"Banks find themselves in a difficult situation due to the conflict between state and federal law, with local communities encouraging them to bank cannabis businesses and federal law prohibiting it," the group wrote in a letter to lawmakers on Monday. "Congress must act to resolve this conflict."
Thirty-six states have legalized medical cannabis while 17 states now allow adult use, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, in an early-April interview with Politico, said he would try to advance legislation legalizing marijuana use for adults. Asked about the SAFE Banking Act, he said he would like to see such a bill move forward as part of a more comprehensive measure - even if President Joe Biden was not supportive.

At least they're current with their filling for a company who is listed as a PINK, limited information

This play was moving in the right direction for a decent time but now its just on a steady downhill trend and no recent updates, its frustrating.
These guys don't keep up on anything. It has been BS getting on 2 years now. Last I heard they were going to change their symbol to reflect the more of the software's capabilities of processing payments then just weed oriented processing - 2 months ago. Know one other than them them knows if the software has even been implemented as an "alpha" product that was mentioned 3 years ago and then silence...
Like I said these guys are looking like BS ore and more as time passes. IF I get back to my break even I'm gone.
GLTU
