I have been unable to reproduce that problem. You might try reinstalling...
the smartfeeds for my Ihub people (like what vantillian set up in his OPML file) are no longer turning blue or tabulating unread posts. The posts only show up under a member when i click the member's name, but don't show up as a group under the "Ihub People" folder as they used to, and the Ihub People folder doesn't show the unread posts either.... lil help here? thx!
R.
I've been using it about 1 month now.
It took awhile to see the value, (I'm slow) but by now I am sooooooo used to being notified with recent post as well as other things that I take it for granted.
As a matter of fact my current largest holding, ACLO was one that I ran across when it popped up on someones post.
Thanks for this board.
No I have not. Did you donwload from http://www.feedreader.com
Did you download the appropriate version for your computer?
Thanks!
I downloaded both the zipped and installer. Neither would install. Error message about not finding gds32.dll. Has anyone experienced this?
Not enough people use this tool. I guess that's good because I'd just soon keep it to myself like a little secret.

Men are born soft and supple; dead, they are stiff and hard. Plants are born tender and pliant; dead, they are brittle and dry. Thus whoever is stiff and inflexible is a disciple of death. Whoever is soft and yielding is a disciple of life. The hard and stiff will be broken. The soft and supple will prevail.

Interesting. Built on Adobe Air...
here is another RSS reader i am experimenting with .. http://www.snackr.net/
You have to set up a "smartfeed" with the username of the person you want to follow in the blank box next to "Title contains." A smartfeed will follow a specific person across all of the RSS feeds that you have set up in Feedreader. There is currently no way to have an RSS feed for specific people, but I have requested to the IHub admins that the feature be added to the site. They responded back that it was a good suggestion. I guess we'll see if it gets implemented.
Thanks for that 8-K. I installed it and can't wait to try it out tomorrow. Can anyone suggest a good rss feed for press releases only? I don't want stock market news on the streamer just company pr's. Thanks
Vanman,
How do I follow certain people with this?
I just downed the Feedreader and am trying to start small. Im just trying to figure out how to shadow what certain folks post and then slowly learn more over the next few days.
Thanks
hey fellow RSS freaks...I started utilizing Easy Desk Ticker yesterday. Its a scrolling news ticker that accepts your RSS feeds. I have all my Ihub RSS feeds running through it and so can see all Ihub posts scrolling across my desktop...its free, very customizable and it rocks imo!.... http://www.easydeskticker.com/?edt
good deal rich.
No problem. Thanks for trying. I'll probably just have to send the Feedreader support people a message about this.
I have been unable to figure out how to fix this rich. sorry man.
Mine too, I'm not sure how to change the time
Is there a way to fix the time stamp on things in Feedreader? It is an hour ahead of my time (MST) and an hour behind Eastern Time which is really annoying. I can't understand why.
Great update, I like the additions you made, your hard work is greatly appreciated, thanks
Request has been submitted. Thanks for your help.
You can do it with an excel file. Private message berge (the assistant of this board) as he does alot with excel.
I have bugged iHub about created RSS feeds of individual users but to no avail. I would appreciate it if you would ask them kindly to consider doing it.
Thank you for the response. I guess I am just not communicating clearly. I have created a SmartFeed and it shows me all of the posts for that particular username across all of the RSS feeds that I am tracking in Feedreader. However, it doesn't show any posts by the username that go to IHub Boards I am not tracking. Is there any way from IHub to basically get an RSS feed for a particular user?
Add the OPML file, then created a smartfeed that is the user's name you wish to track.
I have looked at the User Guide, but I still don't see how it will help me track messages the same way as when I view the user's profile on the IHub website. Feed Reader looks like it will just show me all of their posts on the RSS feeds I am tracking. I want to know what all of the posts by a particular user(s) are.
etrade pro and sterling pro :)
let's take a lookie & see what you got.
trade station & alphatrade.
what did I miss?
VERY nice set up.
1 minute. The newest version of Feedreader has the capability to process every 10 seconds.
Smartfeeds. Watch the tutorials.
Is there a way to RSS all posts by a specific user or even my own mailbox?
What time frame do you use for updates in FeedReader? The Intelliupdate setting or a shorter timeframe like 1 minute?
I think you'll dig it.
finally got around to setting this up. Should have done it a long time ago. thanks van
Hey RSS junkies -- here is an updated OPML file that has captured the best boards for OTC traders/investors. Many, many new boards added/updated!!!
Here is the link to the OPML file: http://vantillian.googlepages.com/maximumrssfeeds-august2009
The best reader hands down for active traders is here: http://www.feedreader.com
Have a great weekend!
Glad to hear. Thanks so much for sharing!
All I can say is BRAVO, I had this board marked but always thought it was to complicated until I started understanding how Micro Stocks work, it took a while but I'm up from being down for a long time, I am so glad your shared this information, and hope for many happy returns for you and everyone that has participated
I'm using feedreader 3.14
Are you using the newest version of feedreader?
That's weird. You should be able to just highlight the folder and see them all.
The only way I can see my fav posters is to open the fav folder and click on each one and it will show their post. I thought just by highlighting that folder they would show up in a list as they posted. Having to click each individual poster in my rss is no different than having to do it on ihub :(
I have it set up that way. Is it a problem that I have fav boards in one folder and fav posters in another folder?
Just track a bunch of boards (see my OPML file) that your favorite posters post on.
Then set up your smartfeeds AS THE POSTER'S ALIAS (i.e. MOMO, Monk, jimmybob, etc., etc., etc...). In other words, you are searching for the poster's alias...which is perfect because the iHub RSS feeds begin every post with the user's alias.
That'll do the trick!
Or you could just follow me. LOL!!!!!!
This is what I want the feeder to do:
I only want to see near real time post of my favorite people. I don't want to see every post that is posted to the boards I have in my boards folder.
This is what I have done:
I set up a folder called boards and another one for fav posters.
I highlight the fav posters because that's all I want, each fav is a smartfeed under my fav posters file.
This is what I'm getting:
Every post from the board file (even though it is not highlighted) and no post by my fav posters (which that file is highlighted). I can see from my fav list on ihub that they have made postings but I am not getting them in Feedreader 3.14
I tried to set up the feedreader a couple years ago and gave up but now I'm trying again so what have I done wrong?
Doesn't the feedreader depend on having the boards (set up as feeds) that your fav poster post on set up as a smartfeeder before it can display just their postings? I've done all that. I'm not interested in any particular board just my fav posters in one near real-time list.
The links to your opml file aren't working for me? This RSS research you've done is outstanding. Thanks for the time you've put in here.
This one is from Peahi a.k.a. JAWS in Maui~
You could be right. either way, these guys are nuts lol
hmm... looks like Cortes Bank to me~
Bro..absolute sweet way to use IHUB...thanks for tutorial on how to set up smart feeds too..
Well, I wish that I could say that it was me LOL. If my memory serves me right, this pic comes from Jaws in Hawaii.

IMPORTANT! "RSS" is not a stock ticker! If you're looking for my hot stock picks, I mainly post them at my Van Scan board found here: http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=12481
This board (the one you're at) is a board designed to help you understand and use an RSS reader and RSS feeds to WIN BIG AT THE MICROCAP MARKETS.

TESTIMONIALS
by cargo_hauler
"(((((It's Awesome)))) The RSS feedreader is the first thing I turn on in the morning to get an idea of what people are talking about on the MOMO boards... With just a 30 second glance, I can see what people on 10 different boards are talking about, without going to any of the boards...It's really one of the more useful tools I have found to navigate the I-hub maze with...Thanks for "turning me on" to it last spring..."

"Everyone needs to set up the RSS feeder. It's an extremely valuable tool for navigating IHUB. For those that don't know, it literally keeps you up to date and connected with multiple boards at the same time. It's how many of our IHUB folks receive the news feeds we post right here on OTCBB ALERTS."
There are plenty more testimonials by users just like you on the forum below!

So if "RSS" isn't a ticker symbol, what is it??? Well, it is a free tool of unbelievable worth to investors. Please read on to find out more.
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." If you've ever seen little orange RSS or XML boxes on the sidebars or bottoms of websites and wondered what they are - now you know. They are links for those technologically advanced few that know the incredible value of an RSS reader. Basically it means that the webpage is set up in such a fashion so as to be uber-friendly to RSS readers. So what does "uber-friendly" mean? It means that the page has been coded in such a way as to allow these readers to slurp the meaningful data on the page and quickly organize it in a user-friendly manner...without the user ever having to actually visit the actual website/webpage. Think of it almost as new email arriving whenever the webpage is updated. RSS is especially useful to keep track of news sites, forums, and blogs.
Most browsers now AUTOMATICALLY discover if a website or webpage is equipped with RSS. Look for the little orange RSS symbol in or on or near your sidebar or address bar!
One of the most helpful tools available to stock traders is a good RSS feed reader. This will allow you to quickly scan the latest buzz regarding a vast array of stocks. RSS has helped me (and many others) to make a lot of money. If you want to keep your finger on the pulse of where investor dollars are going next - perhaps the most effective tool to help you will be an RSS reader.
IMPORTANT NOTE
On this board I'll be encouraging the use of only a couple different RSS readers. These readers are *FREE* to download and/or use. I am not selling anything here. I do not stand to profit from your downloading these or using these. My motive is to prove my worth to the iHub community and hopefully make a few new investor-friends in the process.
What an RSS feed reader allows me to do…
--Search the hottest boards for a specific stock ticker and see real-time posts about said ticker.
--Automatically download the latest posts of any board in real time. (even the ones that get deleted later LOL!)
--Put several different boards into one folder and see real-time chronological data across the entire spectrum of contents.
--Quickly scan thousands of words and easily browse (one click) to specific posts that look meaningful.
--Easily interact with posts/posters on boards you rarely visit based on their posting content of significance to you.
--Keep track of a specific iHub member and their latest posts (in real-time).
--Create ongoing "searches" (for things like buzzwords, ticker symbols, member names) that continuously scan and update data across a broad spectrum of hot stock boards.
In order to take advantage of the RSS feeds here at iHub, you'll need an RSS reader. There are hundreds available but I've found ONE that works best. It is called FeedReader. This is a standalone reader that is to your RSS feeds what Outlook is to your emails. (NOTE: you can also import your RSS feeds into Outlook, but I don't recommend it).
NOTE: This is freeware that is completely safe, works great, and has no spyware or viruses in it. 100% clean! FeedReader is still the fastest and most reliable in delivery *almost* real-time data. You'll have to ask me about the "almost real-time tweak."
STEP #1 - DOWNLOAD FEEDREADER FREE
Once downloaded, install it onto your computer.
RSS feeds can easily be imported or exported in an OPML file. Hopefully, something you will find to be of significant value is my OPML file that you can *freely* download and import into your reader. Yes, it's true. Free. No strings. Period.
This file should save you hours and hours and hours! If you're a microcap trader, I think I've got some of the very best RSS feeds of the best boards and the best posters that iHub has to offer. Barring any unfortunate unforseen dismemberments, I'll try and keep it updated somewhat regularly so you can be assured you're importing the latest and greatest (remember: iHub is in a constant state of flux):
STEP #2 - DOWNLOAD THE RSS FEEDS FILE
Save the file to your Desktop and then Import it into Feedreader by selecting File/Import OPML
STEP #3 - ADDING YOUR OWN RSS FEEDS
Adding A Board RSS Feed | Adding A Poster's RSS Feed |
Select File/New/Feed or Just hit F3. Paste the URL of the RSS feed into the box. |
IN CONCLUSION
Feel free to ask me questions on this board. I'll try and answer them. Just want to lend a hand to my fellow and sister investors!
Feel free to post your sage counsel on this board about RSS. Feel free to share your OPML file with others. If you try RSS and find it beneficial, please let the other investors know. Post a hearty "amen" or two and tell the world to use RSS.
RSS is an investor's best friend. RSS might even be better than charts at helping you win in the microcap markets!!!
