OK Van - not sure what you mean by 'link'. You mean when I click on one of the boards I loaded to the feeder (like OTCBB) - or when I click on one of the posts? Plus I'm not sure HOW to set it to open in an external browser. Sorry for my stupidness. But Van - when I am following the shell plays and prado or chevy have something important to qualify re: a particular shell being buzzed about. I need to see their whole rap (post). (60 characters doesn't cut it). What then? Go the the IHUB site and see what they're saying there? Thanks. Sorry for the trouble.
phalgm...set it so that when you click a link it opens in an external browser (firefox is the one I use).
The RSS posts are limited to 60 or so characters, so you can't see ALL of the post...that's okay though...posters usually put the ticker symbol in the first sentence of their post.
I never knew about RSS. Computer smart in some ways, dumb in others. Thanks to you I now use RSS and it saves me a lot of time! Thanks for this site.
Van, I need some serious help - I loaded 5 of my favorite boards. The thing is - when I pick/chose the board and the posts show up - I click on a post and I can't even read the whole post. I don't get it. What's the point?!?! When/if I finally figure out how to make a list of my fovorite people - and I pick one of their posts - it's going to be the same thing - I won't be able to see their whole post? Also - I clicked on HELP and then User Guide and wasn't able to open that link. Should I be able to view the user guide? TIA
Well, as usual I am having touble. The first time it was easy from the IBOX. Now it's a pain in the ass. So I guess I'll stick with version 3.10 I fkg hate computers!!!!! Thnks anyway.
Well, THAT MUCH I know. About your swellness - that is. LOL
It is FREE FREE FREE because I'm such a swell guy.
And it doesn't cost anyting? I thought, normally, it's $49 to get the reader.
Oh, just go to www.feedreader.com and download/install the latest version...your feeds will AUTOMATICALLY transfer to the upgrade.
Well, now that I already said no - how can I get back the option to download the new version. I closed it and then reopened it and I didn't get the option to upgrade.? thnks
I've been using the new version...I like it. So, YES!
Don't worry about it. I just clicked 'no'. The top left hand side it says Feedreader 3.10
I downloaded the feeder from the ibox and it asked if I wanted to download the new version. Do I?
Thanks Trucker. I'm gonna take the RSS plunge so I'm sure that'll help out alot. . 'preciate it.
Ok- I am somewhat computer literate, but I found this out today and it is saving me a great deal of time when adding feeds from i-hub.
If you right click on the orange RSS symbol on an i-hub page, select copy shortcut then click on the new feed buttom to add the new feed. It should appear automatically and then all you need to do is remove the "_add" and you are left with the correct feed. This should save you many key strokes if you had been typing the info when adding a new feed.

ansswered my question so it's got to help.LOL Thnx
My wife loves it more than me. She is addicted to it. She reads me all the news from her feeds while I am driving. She used to get most of them in emails, but now she finds their feed and adds them to the feedreader.
Chris...you have helped legitimize the use of RSS. THANK YOU.
Hey, That was my email. Lost a lot on some big plays the last few years. Seems I always found out too late. Hopefully, now I can get in early and get out with a profit.
PS- My new philosophy is: Always taking a small profit will never leave you with a loss.
CJV
Feeds for basically Conservative Republicans. Political news, 08' race, immigration reform, nafta, cafta, info you don't get from the liberal mainstream news media.
Hope this helps,
CJV
I create "smartfeeds" of all my favorite posters here. Yep. This is a feed that you must create/edit. It's very simple to do. Just click File / New / Smartfeed. And then add the name(s) of the members you want to keep tabs on...
When you mark those boards - do you mark specific people? or what. I just downloaded your favorite feedreader and I am about to take the RSS plunge. that's why I'm askin. I just got done reading the Rss IBOX's info (at the bottom)
No...I mainly have the hottest "general" boards...boards like BB's, MOMO's, Blue Horse Shoe's...etc.
Once I begin playing a specific stock ticker I'll be sure and add its RSS feed though from that ticker's board.
So - does that mean you have all the ticker symbol boards marked on IHUB?
it's not so much the boards that buzz as it is the ticker symbols. That's why keeping your finger on the market pulse over a whole spectrum of boards can help you determine where big money is headed next.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm confident the sender will claim it!!!
Emails to yourself from another addy do not count!
so...I got a nice email today. I will keep it anonymous until the sender claims it! LOL!
"...you are personally responsible for me being up 2.5 times in my investments in less than two weeks using RSS Feedreader. I am still ultimately responsible for my own decisions, but seeing where the "Buzz" is and being able to find some winning traders is AWESOME.
Thanks again for everything you have done conserning RSS feeds."
what's rs feed for Conservatives?
sounds great Chris. Please send me the OPML file at vantillian@gmail.com!!!
I have the same option. I was just trying to find a way to go back, using the feedreader browser.
If anybody wants some really good rs feeds for Conservatives, PM me? My wife has her own folder with some very good feedsto conservative sites.
CJV
Ah...good point. I set the option so that whenever I click a link it opens in my default browser (firefox). I don't like to use the web browser that is within the feedreader program itself.
How do we find out which boards have the most "buzz" going on
Feed reader works within its own program. Is there a way you can go back? I do not see any Back button, or anything that will allow this. Is it possible?
Thanks,
CJV
bro...download the OPML file from the ibox and then follow the steps. That's WAY easier than adding them like you're trying. Trust me...you'll thank me later!
Help....I cant get RSS to work.
I downloaded feedreader...clicked new...put pinto beans html in the box, and nothing happend...im gonna need some hand holding here. Help me out bro.
glad to hear it!
I don't know, but I just imported that october feeds file you specified and Now it's working-thanks!-
hmmmmmmmmmm... that's weird...have you tried it with more than 1 feed? are you copying and pasting the rss linkage exactly?
Hello vant. I can't seem to add a feed, I get the message:"Error adding feed, No RSS URL's found. I followed the directions, it works on google reader but not on Feedreader 3.11
It's the most useful tool I have besides streaming L2s.
Sweet Van, you just showed me the way with this...I will use this often!
many thanks!
Favorite boardmark.
It's my pleasure. Thanks for stopping by!!!
Very cool application, thank you for taking your time to help retail traders gain an edge!

IMPORTANT! "RSS" is not a stock ticker! If you're looking for my hot stock picks, I mainly post them at my Van Scan board found here: http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=12481
This board (the one you're at) is a board designed to help you understand and use an RSS reader and RSS feeds to WIN BIG AT THE MICROCAP MARKETS.

TESTIMONIALS
by cargo_hauler
"(((((It's Awesome)))) The RSS feedreader is the first thing I turn on in the morning to get an idea of what people are talking about on the MOMO boards... With just a 30 second glance, I can see what people on 10 different boards are talking about, without going to any of the boards...It's really one of the more useful tools I have found to navigate the I-hub maze with...Thanks for "turning me on" to it last spring..."

"Everyone needs to set up the RSS feeder. It's an extremely valuable tool for navigating IHUB. For those that don't know, it literally keeps you up to date and connected with multiple boards at the same time. It's how many of our IHUB folks receive the news feeds we post right here on OTCBB ALERTS."
There are plenty more testimonials by users just like you on the forum below!

So if "RSS" isn't a ticker symbol, what is it??? Well, it is a free tool of unbelievable worth to investors. Please read on to find out more.
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." If you've ever seen little orange RSS or XML boxes on the sidebars or bottoms of websites and wondered what they are - now you know. They are links for those technologically advanced few that know the incredible value of an RSS reader. Basically it means that the webpage is set up in such a fashion so as to be uber-friendly to RSS readers. So what does "uber-friendly" mean? It means that the page has been coded in such a way as to allow these readers to slurp the meaningful data on the page and quickly organize it in a user-friendly manner...without the user ever having to actually visit the actual website/webpage. Think of it almost as new email arriving whenever the webpage is updated. RSS is especially useful to keep track of news sites, forums, and blogs.
Most browsers now AUTOMATICALLY discover if a website or webpage is equipped with RSS. Look for the little orange RSS symbol in or on or near your sidebar or address bar!
One of the most helpful tools available to stock traders is a good RSS feed reader. This will allow you to quickly scan the latest buzz regarding a vast array of stocks. RSS has helped me (and many others) to make a lot of money. If you want to keep your finger on the pulse of where investor dollars are going next - perhaps the most effective tool to help you will be an RSS reader.
IMPORTANT NOTE
On this board I'll be encouraging the use of only a couple different RSS readers. These readers are *FREE* to download and/or use. I am not selling anything here. I do not stand to profit from your downloading these or using these. My motive is to prove my worth to the iHub community and hopefully make a few new investor-friends in the process.
What an RSS feed reader allows me to do…
--Search the hottest boards for a specific stock ticker and see real-time posts about said ticker.
--Automatically download the latest posts of any board in real time. (even the ones that get deleted later LOL!)
--Put several different boards into one folder and see real-time chronological data across the entire spectrum of contents.
--Quickly scan thousands of words and easily browse (one click) to specific posts that look meaningful.
--Easily interact with posts/posters on boards you rarely visit based on their posting content of significance to you.
--Keep track of a specific iHub member and their latest posts (in real-time).
--Create ongoing "searches" (for things like buzzwords, ticker symbols, member names) that continuously scan and update data across a broad spectrum of hot stock boards.
In order to take advantage of the RSS feeds here at iHub, you'll need an RSS reader. There are hundreds available but I've found ONE that works best. It is called FeedReader. This is a standalone reader that is to your RSS feeds what Outlook is to your emails. (NOTE: you can also import your RSS feeds into Outlook, but I don't recommend it).
NOTE: This is freeware that is completely safe, works great, and has no spyware or viruses in it. 100% clean! FeedReader is still the fastest and most reliable in delivery *almost* real-time data. You'll have to ask me about the "almost real-time tweak."
STEP #1 - DOWNLOAD FEEDREADER FREE
Once downloaded, install it onto your computer.
RSS feeds can easily be imported or exported in an OPML file. Hopefully, something you will find to be of significant value is my OPML file that you can *freely* download and import into your reader. Yes, it's true. Free. No strings. Period.
This file should save you hours and hours and hours! If you're a microcap trader, I think I've got some of the very best RSS feeds of the best boards and the best posters that iHub has to offer. Barring any unfortunate unforseen dismemberments, I'll try and keep it updated somewhat regularly so you can be assured you're importing the latest and greatest (remember: iHub is in a constant state of flux):
STEP #2 - DOWNLOAD THE RSS FEEDS FILE
Save the file to your Desktop and then Import it into Feedreader by selecting File/Import OPML
STEP #3 - ADDING YOUR OWN RSS FEEDS
Adding A Board RSS Feed![]() | Adding A Poster's RSS Feed![]() |
Select File/New/Feed or Just hit F3. Paste the URL of the RSS feed into the box. ![]() |
IN CONCLUSION
Feel free to ask me questions on this board. I'll try and answer them. Just want to lend a hand to my fellow and sister investors!
Feel free to post your sage counsel on this board about RSS. Feel free to share your OPML file with others. If you try RSS and find it beneficial, please let the other investors know. Post a hearty "amen" or two and tell the world to use RSS.
RSS is an investor's best friend. RSS might even be better than charts at helping you win in the microcap markets!!!
