Devine: This migrant mess is ruining NYC’s Midtown
By Miranda Devine January 25, 2023 10:41pm Updated
I hope the candidate is someone other than Trump.
there will be, a Democrat......
Like I said, too conservative.
I'm with you. I was just making the point that even he thinks the rules are too liberal now!
That works! IMO, Sharpton is the most damaging of all Black Leaders, next to the Obamas.
Al's basic message, to his people is, "It's not your fault"
A terrible message. For over 50 years practically all of Black people's problems are their fault.
My message is not racist.. It's Racial Reality.
B2B
An invertebrate has more brain-power than Sharpton!
How's that?!??
I read that! Truly disgusting. Direct TV refuses to pay for Newmax content yet it is the number 4 rated news show that they carry.
They carry shitty liberal channels with near zero ratings and PAY for that content.
Freedom of speech. Another fiction nowadays.
Trump’s Facebook, Instagram accounts being restored after 2-year suspension
By Ben Kesslen January 25, 2023 5:13pm Updated
Former President Trump will be allowed back on Instagram and Facebook, the platforms’ parent company Meta announced Wednesday.
Meta Spokesperson Nick Clegg said Trump’s two-year suspension had ended, and his accounts will be added back in the coming weeks.
“Social media is rooted in the belief that open debate and the free flow of ideas are important values,” Clegg wrote in a statement. “As a general rule, we don’t want to get in the way of open, public and democratic debate on Meta’s platforms – especially in the context of elections in democratic societies like the United States.”
The decision comes after the 76-year-old Republican’s 2024 campaign petitioned Meta to unlock his accounts and let Trump post directly to his 34 million followers on Facebook and 25 million followers on Instagram.
The former president was suspended the day after the Jan 6, 2021, Capitol Riot due to fears he would “provoke further violence.”
Meta said it has installed “new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses.”
“The public should be able to hear what their politicians are saying – the good, the bad and the ugly – so that they can make informed choices at the ballot box,” Clegg wrote. “But that does not mean there are no limits to what people can say on our platform.”
Meta had initially suspended Trump “indefinitely” and then referred his status to its “Oversight Board,” a so-called “expert body established to be an independent check.” The Board upheld the decision to suspend Trump but said his punishment should have a timeline. That decision led to the announcement he would be barred for two years.
Trump was also banned from Twitter but was reinstated in November when new owner Elon Musk restored his account. He has not returned to the platform, instead opting for his own social network, Truth Social, although it has been widely reported he will start tweeting again shortly.

FWIW: DirecTV drops Newsmax
BY DOMINICK MASTRANGELO - 01/25/23 11:43 AM ET
Television provider DirecTV has dropped conservative channel Newsmax from its lineup after a dispute over carrier fees, a decision the network is calling an act of political censorship.
DirecTV’s current contract with Newsmax expired on Tuesday evening, after the television provider said it was unwilling to agree to carrier fees proposed by the conservative channel.
“On multiple occasions, we made it clear to Newsmax that we wanted to continue to offer the network, but ultimately Newsmax’s demands for rate increases would have led to significantly higher costs that we would have to pass on to our broad customer base,” DirecTV said in a statement to The Hill this week. “Anyone, including our customers, can watch the network for free via NewsmaxTV.com, YouTube.com and on multiple streaming platforms like Amazon Fire TV, Roku, and Google Play. We continually evaluate the most relevant programming to provide our customers and expect to fill this available channel with new content.”
Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy, however, alleged the decision is based in political bias against conservative news organizations.
“This is a blatant act of political discrimination and censorship against Newsmax,” Ruddy said. “The most extreme liberal channels, even with tiny ratings, get fees from AT&T’s DirecTV, but Newsmax and OAN need to be deplatformed.”
Last week, a group of House Republicans led by Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas) sent a letter to DirecTV threatening to investigate its decision to allow the contract to expire.
Newsmax is smaller than some of its fellow conservative cable channels, but it experienced a short-lived bump after former President Trump lost the 2020 election and promoted its hosts to his followers as an alternative to Fox News and other conservative media.
The channel has been panned in recent years by liberals and media watchdogs for statements by its hosts and segments on the coronavirus pandemic, race relations and other issues.
Last year, DirecTV declined to renew its contract with One America News, another smaller conservative cable channel championed by Trump and his allies.

Did they officially say that or are they using "contract dispute" as an excuse?
I'll do some digging later. Thanks.
Hope Kyle is healthy again and you're back at work.
Take care.
POSH, I got this far----
" Sharpton has more brains than---"
and was wondering if the comparison was going to a vertebrate or an invertebrate. Saying that Sharpton has more brains than any thing, is an oxymoron.
B2B
Geez. What was their official excuse for dumping Newsmax?
That blows.
First they came for OAN and now DirecTV has cancelled Newsmax. Commie bastards!
Good one. We use to say if your brains were turned into dynamite you wouldn't have enough dynamite to blow your own nose.
Voters distrust their reps, still smearing Kavanaugh and other commentary
By Post Editorial Board January 24, 2023 6:53pm Updated
Pollster: Voters Distrust Their Reps
“Washington, you have a problem,” quips TIPP Insights’ Terry Jones. In a new poll, 66% of registered voters “said elected officials represent mostly the views and values of their big donors, not average Americans.” That’s 61% of Dems, “68% of Republicans and 73% of independents.” “Among white voters, 71% said their representatives worked for their big donors;” the number was 52% for blacks and Hispanics. Overall, 52% of voters “said they were not satisfied” with their own reps in Congress. Though “50% of Democrats called themselves “satisfied,’” “both major parties would be wise” to note “restive voters, who see Washington as out of touch and venal.” Maybe “swift action on energy, taxes and spending and immigration” — the top issues driving dissatisfaction — can “help restore voter confidence.”
Congress: Behind the Debt-Limit Fight
“America needs a fiscal intervention,” cries the Boston Herald editorial board: “A mere five months after President Joe Biden’s $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act was signed, the U.S. hit the debt ceiling” — again. For must (sic), “maxing out on a credit card means cutting back and getting one’s fiscal act together. On Capitol Hill, many lawmakers are calling for the debt ceiling, now at $31.3 trillion, to be raised,” but while “Democrats want to raise the debt ceiling, Republicans do not.” Expect “political posturing, impassioned speeches and denigration by Democrats of those who dare suggest fiscal responsibility as the solution,” along with “calls to raise taxes,” especially on “those liberals consider to be evading their ‘fair share.’” But “tax receipts are at a record high by any measure,” which means Uncle Sam “has never collected more money, but is still managing to spend it all, and then some.”
Higher-ed beat: College Taken Hostage
Critical race theory and “coercive” diversity, equity and inclusion have taken Florida’s New College “hostage,” warns City Journal’s Christopher Rufo, now a trustee as part of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ bid to “recapture” the school. Staff and students “whisper” of the “culture problem,” in which “left-wing activist students” exploit the “DEI-style bureaucracy” and target critics, while the college does “little.” There’s no “guarantee” DeSantis can reclaim the school from the “bullies” and recommit it to “the pursuit of truth,” not “ideology.” Some already suggest Rufo cancel a planned Town Hall to avoid the risk of physical harm. But changing the culture “must begin with defiance of such intimidation” — and “a willingness to speak the truth.
From the right: Still Smearing Kavanaugh
“The people who tried to kill the Kavanaugh nomination never gave up,” laments the Washington Examiner’s Byron York. A new Hollywood documentary, “Justice,” rehashes how “three women accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct decades earlier when he was in high school and college.” But the film doesn’t offer new proof, so investigations by “Senate Democrats, then by friendly journalists, and now by friendly moviemakers, have all served to illustrate how flimsy the accusations against Kavanaugh were.” The film’s only purpose is simply to “keep the protests going” and “fuel efforts on the Left to delegitimize the Supreme Court.”
Liberal: Democrats’ Climate Derangement
The Liberal Patriot’s Ruy Teixeira shows how Democrats in the Trump years came to embrace “the catastrophist view of climate change already held by activists,” as the Obama approach “which was attentive to standard Democratic concerns about jobs and prices, has been left in the rear view mirror.” Yet this view “is neither particularly accurate nor practical”: The immediate threat is far less dire, and: “You simply cannot get rid of fossil fuels as fast as climate activists and their supporters in the Democratic party want,” when 84% “of world energy consumption is from fossil fuels and that is only a point lower in the United States.” In reality: “Climate change is a serious problem, but a solvable one that will take decades and massive technological innovation,” not “a quixotic attempt to remake the global economy around renewables in a short span of time.”

Rev. Al Sharpton preaches public safety, will Albany listen?
By Post Editorial Board January 24, 2023 7:08pm Updated
Harlem’s Rev. Al Sharpton has joined the growing chorus of New Yorkers calling for tweaks to the state’s disastrous bail law and other criminal-justice reforms.
When it comes to improving public safety, The Rev is showing more sense than the Democratic lawmakers who run Albany.
“There are tweaks that can turn these good reforms into great ones by addressing issues like recidivism, giving our district attorneys the right tools, and helping the thousands of mentally ill New Yorkers forced out onto the streets,” Sharpton said Monday.
The reforms instituted by the Legislature have allowed a set of hardcore repeat offenders to feel immune from punishment. A surge in teen violence has followed passage of the Raise the Age juvenile reforms, as youthful gangbangers seem to have taken it as license to shoot their peers.
Sharpton, who last year cracked, “They are locking up my toothpaste [at his local pharmacy],” notes that wasn’t the intent of the reforms.
The one-time firebrand street preacher/street activist is an important ally for Mayor Eric Adams in his effort to get the Legislature’s help in turning back the tide of crime inundating the Big Apple.
For all his crusades against police brutality and racism in America, Sharpton never called for the wholesale depolicing of communities or for the dismantling of police departments. He faults “latte liberals” for backing the defund-the-police movement to the detriment of minority communities.
The Legislature should pay heed, as here Sharpton is in firm agreement with what New Yorkers of all stripes believe. A recent Siena poll found that 93% of voters across all races say crime is a serious problem in New York. And about two-thirds said they support the idea of giving judges more discretion in setting bail for defendants accused of serious crimes.
Lord knows, we’ve slammed Sharpton’s outrageous demagoguery for decades, going all the way back to Tawana Brawley and Freddy’s Fashion Mart. Our disagreements have been endless, and likely will never end. But we’ve never pretended he doesn’t know what they’re saying on the street.
Progressives, beware: If you’re at odds with Al Sharpton when it comes to keeping minority communities (all communities!) safe, you’re not really being progressive at all.

Considering your elevation (no, not a pot joke!), you did well.
Even by me, five miles makes a big difference sometimes. Lots of weather for such a small state!
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Just light flakes falling now.
Everything is really pretty.covered with about an inch of light fluffy snow.
If we get the "torrential" rain they're promising for tonight, this should disappear on its own.
We'll see what happens, eh?
Nancy Pelosi reportedly summons priests to exorcise home of evil spirits
By Mary Kay Linge, Matthew Sedacca and Jon Levine January 21, 2023 2:30pm Updated
(The exorcism would have done more good if the goal had been to rid San Francisco of the government morons whose policies turned SF into dung hole mess.)
The power of Nancy compels you!
Former House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi summoned priests to rid her luxe San Francisco home of evil spirits after a man allegedly attacked her hubby there with a hammer.
“I think that weighed really heavy on her soul. I think she felt really guilty,” said Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra, the New York Times reported Saturday.
“I think that really broke her. Over Thanksgiving, she had priests coming, trying to have an exorcism of the house and having prayer services,” she added.
Fr. Arturo Albano, the pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Pelosi’s local parish, insisted his staff was not involved in such a rite.
“As far as I know, no exorcism or priest services were performed at her home,” Albano told The Post.
But Pelosi may have gone outside her local church hierarchy for holy help.
San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone banned the Democrat from receiving Holy Communion in May, “until such time as you publically repudiate your advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion,” he wrote at the time. The archdiocese did not return a request for comment.
Pelosi has long referred to herself as a devout Catholic, despite her vociferous pro-abortion advocacy in opposition to church teaching.
Critics all but climbed the walls in reaction to the head-spinning news.
“Will she also be coordinating one for the speaker’s office?” wondered Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).
“Hopefully Nancy doesn’t vanish after the exorcism,” tweeted Terry Mann.
Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, urged Pelosi to get “help” — from a psychiatrist.
“The woman is positively conflicted. She wears her Catholicism on her sleeve while basically sticking her middle finger at the Catholic Church every opportunity she has.”
“If it’s genuine, she needs psychiatric help,” Donohue continues. “And if not, it’s another example of Nancy Pelosi exploiting the Catholic Church for her own personal gain.”
But Fr. Vincent Lampert, exorcist for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis, said exorcism could indeed be appropriate to combat “demonic infestation,” and the presence of evil that may linger in a place where violent crime has occurred.
“It would be the recitation of a particular prayer, inviting the presence of God back into the house, casting out any presence of evil that may be there,” Lampert said. “Then the house would be blessed with holy water, reminding us of our new life in Christ, and the fact that we need not fear any evil, because recognizing that Christ is dwelling with us.”
“I would say I get thousands of those requests every year,” he added.
Pelosi’s home was the site of a brutal hammer attack on Paul Pelosi October 29, when conspiracy theorist David DePape allegedly barged his way into the residence in search of the then-Speaker of the House.
DePape, 42, allegedly bludgeoned Paul Pelosi, 82, with a hammer, fracturing his skull and seriously injuring his right arm and hands, which required surgery, authorities said.
DePape allegedly planned to “hold Nancy hostage” and to “break her kneecaps” if she lied during his intended interrogation.
DePape, who pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and elder abuse, is set to appear in court again on Feb. 23.
The Pelosis were spotted chowing down at Balthazar in SoHo last week.

NY Rep. George Santos ‘honored’ with lying Pinocchio bobblehead
By Carl Campanile January 25, 2023 2:23pm Updated
Now, if Rep. George Santos tells you he’s been immortalized with a bobblehead — it won’t be a lie.
The notoriously fib-prone Long Island congressman is getting the type of attention most politicians die for — albeit for all the wrong reasons — his own head-tottering dolls courtesy of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame.
(Get it here: https://store.bobbleheadhall.com/products/georgesantos )
That puts fabulist Santos in the same company as Anthony Fauci, the former longtime head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who was ubiquitous during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We have been receiving a growing number of requests for a bobblehead of George Santos,” Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said.
“Some people have even said he’s an early candidate for ‘Bobblehead of the Year,’ so we decided to offer people the opportunity to secure their very own George Santos Bobbleheads. No one knows how and when the drama surrounding George Santos will end, but we know the bobblehead will be the perfect collectible to commemorate this unbelievable story for years to come.”
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame mocks Rep. George Santos’ serial lying with a bobblehead doll
featuring him with a Pinocchio long nose.
National Bobblehead HOF
There are two versions: a standard one and another with an elongated Pinocchio nose given the “seemingly never-ending series of lies and fabrications,” Sklar said.
The museum says it will donate $5 from every George Santos Bobblehead sold to dog-related GoFundMe campaigns.
Rich Osthoff, a Navy veteran from New Jersey, recently claimed that Santos, then going by Anthony Devolder, launched a GoFundMe campaign in 2016 to raise $3,000 for life-saving surgery for Osthoff’s beloved service dog — but kept the money. Santos denied the accusation and said he doesn’t know the Navy vet.
Santos, who defeated Democrat Robert Zimmerman last fall to succeed former Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) in the 3rd Congressional District, has been in hot water for fabricating virtually his entire biography — including fibbing about graduating from college and his work history.
He faces numerous criminal and ethics investigations, some of which center on shady finances related to bankrolling his campaign, including the sources of loans.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wants to be Trump’s 2024 running mate: report
By Mark Moore January 25, 2023 2:11pm Updated
(Sounds like a surefire losing ticket to me.)
Far-right gadfly Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is positioning herself to be former President Donald Trump’s 2024 pick for vice president, according to a report on Wednesday.
?”This is no shrinking violet, she’s ambitious — she’s not shy about that, nor should she be,” Steve Bannon, the former top Trump strategist who hosts the War Room podcast?, told NBC News. ?
Bannon added the Georgia Republican, 48, sees herself on the “short list for Trump’s VP.”?
“?When MTG looks in the mirror, she sees a potential president smiling back,” ?he said.?
A second person who advised the congresswoman told the outlet that Greene’s “whole vision is to be vice president,” and noted that she believes she could end up on Trump’s short list of potential running mates. ?
Greene has seen her influence grow since becoming a dogged supporter of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as he sought the gavel earlier this month. ?
NBC reported that those close to Greene said she wants to rebrand herself as a lawmaker who can bridge the gap between the various factions of the Republican Party.
Greene’s gambit to get behind McCarthy’s campaign for speaker paid off. ?
McCarthy has vowed to always have her back and appointed her to two House panels — Homeland Security and Oversight ?– where she will play a role in GOP investigations of the Biden administration.
Even though her unflinching support for McCarthy alienated some members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, Bannon said it was a calculated risk.
“She’s both strategic and disciplined — she made a power move, knowing it would run up hard against her most ardent crew,” he told NBC. “She was prepared to take the intense heat/hatred short-term for the long-term goal of being a player.”?
Greene’s office did not respond to calls from NBC inquiring about her future plans. ??
Trump, 76, who announced a third consecutive bid for the White House in November, has not given any indication that he has begun vetting potential running mates. ?
Greene, who ?easily won reelection in her rural Georgia district Nov. 8, told the New York Times in October that she and Trump had already discussed the No. 2 spot on the presidential ticket.
“I would be honored?,” she said at the time. “I think the last person that the RNC or the national party wants is me as his running mate.”
?Mike Pence, who served as Trump’s vice president during his four years in office, is weighing his own presidential run in 2024.
Pence and Trump had a falling-out over the former’s refusal to reject electors when Congress certified the 2020 election for President Biden on Jan. 6, 2021.

Cause of death revealed for Diamond Hardaway of ‘Diamond and Silk’
By Nika Shakhnazarova January 25, 2023 8:12am Updated
Diamond Lynnette Hardaway, best known as one half of the duo Diamond and Silk, died on Jan. 8 of heart disease due to chronic high blood pressure. She was 51.
(Gee, I don't suppose her weight had anything to do with this. God forbid anyone gets "fat shamed." Losing weight might save their life.)
Hardaway, one of former President Donald Trump’s most ardent supporters, was found on the kitchen floor by her sister Rochelle “Silk” Richardson after she collapsed crying out, “I can’t breathe.”
According to the AP, no autopsy was performed on Hardaway, whose official cause of death prompted widespread speculation after her sister falsely attributed her death to a plot related to anti-COVID-19 vaccination conspiracy theories during the memorial service last week.
The service saw Trump not only attend, but give a speech in which he sensationally claimed that he never really knew Silk.
Hardaway’s “unexpected” death was labeled “really bad news for Republicans” by the former president in a statement earlier this month.
“Really bad news for Republicans and frankly, all Americans,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Our beautiful Diamond, of Diamond and Silk, has just passed away at her home in the State she loves so much, North Carolina.”
Referring to Hardaway as “Magnificent Diamond,” the ex-POTUS said her sister Silk was “with her all the way, and at her passing.”
“There was no better TEAM anywhere, or at any time! Diamond’s death was totally unexpected, probably her big and precious HEART just plain gave out. Rest In Peace our Magnificent Diamond, you will be greatly missed,” Trump concluded.
Diamond and Silk put their names on the map during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign after they made the unlikely leap from being diehard Democrats to Republicans after Trump’s White House bid was announced in 2015.
The sisters became stars in their own right, later landing frequent Fox News guest spots throughout Trump’s tenure as commander-in-chief.
The former president has been pictured with the pro-Trump duo numerous times, including in the Oval Office.
Hardaway’s health sparked concern back in November after the duo’s official Twitter account asked fans to keep her in their prayers.
“Anyone who believes in the power of prayer please pray for Diamond,” the tweet read, though a reason for the request was not given.
In 2018, the pair claimed Facebook flagged their Trump-loving videos as “unsafe.” They received an apology from the social media site several months later.
They were later fired from their Fox News roles for promoting conspiracy theories about COVID-19.

After Priest Exorcises All Demons From Her Home, Pelosi Becomes A Republican
https://babylonbee.com/news/after-priest-exorcises-her-home-pelosi-becomes-a-republican?utm_source=The%20Babylon%20Bee%20Newsletter&utm_medium=email
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — According to sources, Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently recruited several Catholic priests to exorcise her home of evil spirits, and as a result, has joined the Republican party.
"How could I have been so blind to the blessed truths of the Republican party?" said Pelosi to reporters with a new light in her eyes. "After the priests spent over 14 hours casting hundreds of demons, balrogs, and other dark entities from my home, I looked up to the heavens as though scales had fallen from my eyes and immediately converted to Republicanism. Praise be to Reagan!"
Priests credited their superior training in demonology for the successful exorcism.
"When Pelosi began to froth, sizzle, and spasm after we hit her with the holy water, we knew we had our work cut out for us." said local priest Lee Jameson. "We soon realized that a full legion of left-wing demons needed to be expelled through a full exorcism ceremony."
"We're happy to welcome another lost soul into the Republican Party."
Even though Speaker Pelosi's previously unquenchable thirst for the blood of infants slain through abortion has abated, eyewitnesses say the Speaker's experience was harrowing. The speaker has recovered and is in her right mind, fully clothed and speaking coherently to former Democratic allies who had staged an intervention to reaffirm her commitment to abortion.
"Chuck, abortion is murder — I'm Catholic for goodness' sake, and so are you, Joe!"
At publishing time, Pelosi had been seen going door-to-door to voters whose taxes she had stolen, making restitution with all that she had and praising God for delivering her from the dark spirits of Leftism.
Senate GOP pours cold water on idea of impeaching Biden
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/3829047-senate-gop-pours-cold-water-on-idea-of-impeaching-biden/?email=a847a43b9c99026a728b4bd541e637625305ce80&emaila=aecd5459be4f02f91b0cd8f3982617fb&emailb=f51ffe75b0642f30b23837731dfe6c072826e8afa803f9befb28bb39829f2681&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=01.25.23%20KB%20The%20Hill%20-%20News%20Alert%20-%20Impeach
Senate Republicans are pouring cold water on the idea that President Biden’s classified documents controversy rises to the level of an impeachable offense, heading off House conservatives looking for revenge after former President Trump’s two trials.
Even before Tuesday’s revelation that about a dozen classified documents had been found at former Vice President Mike Pence’s Indiana home, GOP senators were cool to the idea of impeachment.
“I don’t think you want to get into where it’s a tit for tat, every two years or four years you’re dealing with impeachment proceedings in the House and Senate,” Senate Republican Whip John Thune (S.D.) told The Hill. “There has to be a really good reason, obviously, the constitutional reasons and grounds for that. So we’ll see where it goes.”
Asked whether Biden’s possession of classified documents has the potential to rise to the level of an impeachable offense, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), an adviser to the Senate GOP leadership team, gave a simple answer: “No.”
Many Republicans thought the Democrats’ first impeachment of Trump over delaying military aide to Ukraine was a partisan overreach. But that means they are also wary of doing the same thing now that their party has the House majority.
It’s just one of several tension points emerging between Republicans in the two chambers.
Senate Republicans have mostly ignored chatter in the House about impeaching Biden’s secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, or wiping out the tax code and replacing it with a 23 percent to 30 percent national sales tax.
Some Republicans think talk of impeaching Biden will grow in the House, even though GOP senators warn that it’s a bad idea.
House Republicans introduced more than a dozen impeachment resolutions against Biden in the last Congress, and the GOP-controlled House Judiciary Committee has already initiated an investigation of Biden’s handling of classified documents, which could lay the ground for future impeachment proceedings.
Trump has also come under criticism for a separate classified documents controversy, but House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) in an interview with Fox Business argued that Biden’s handling of classified documents was more egregious because the former Republican president at least secured the classified information he held with padlocks.
“That’s much different than what we’re finding now with President Biden, and I think it is severely going to cause him a great deal of trouble in the future as we get more of the truth,” McCarthy told Fox host Larry Kudlow.
A few Senate Republicans entertain the idea that the classified documents found at Biden’s Delaware home and former Washington, D.C., office would lead to a Senate impeachment trial.
“This actually might be an impeachable offense. If there’s a high crime and misdemeanor standard, which there is, this is the closest thing to one in recent years,” said Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.). “If the special counsel comes up with anything, realizing [Biden’s] a sitting president, I suppose they could draft up what would become articles of impeachment, depending on what they find.”
Cramer said “I personally hate impeachments” but thinks the standard has changed since House Democrats impeached Trump in 2019 after he held up aid to Ukraine to use as leverage to get Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Biden’s family’s business dealings in the country.
Only one Republican senator, Mitt Romney (Utah), voted to convict on an article of impeachment during Trump’s 2020 Senate trial.
Cramer said “Democrats created an impeachment cycle and we may be in that cycle,” calling Trump’s first impeachment “far-fetched and silly.”
He said House Republicans now need to decide whether they want to keep the impeachment bar as low as they believe Democrats set it in 2019 or whether to elevate it to cover only the most serious crimes.
The documents found at Pence’s home would further muddy any attempt to argue that Biden’s possession of classified documents meets the standard of high crimes and misdemeanors.
Romney on Tuesday said it will be hard for House Republicans to credibly push an article of impeachment against Biden for keeping classified documents at his Delaware home after Pence admitted the same transgression.
“I can’t imagine that’s where it’s going to head with so many people in the same arena,” he said.
Some key Senate Republicans, such as Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Marco Rubio (Fla.), are already on record downplaying Trump’s possession of classified documents at his Florida home as a “storage” issue.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday dismissed a question about whether Biden’s possession of classified documents could rise to the level of an impeachable offense.
“I don’t have an answer to that hypothetical. I do think that the Justice Department seems to be willing to treat everybody the same and to try to retrieve the documents, and obviously it’s not a great idea to take classified documents away from the archives. We’ll see how they continue to handle it,” he said.
Republican senators say it should be up to Robert Hur, the special counsel appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland, to decide whether Biden should be charged with a crime, not House Republicans, who filed more than a dozen articles of impeachment against Biden in the last Congress.
“It could be a criminal offense,” Cornyn said. “That’s what the special counsel is for. Mishandling classified materials is very serious.”
Garland appointed special counsel Jack Smith in November to oversee the Justice Department’s investigation of Trump’s handling of classified documents and whether he unlawfully interfered with the 2021 transfer of presidential power.
Cornyn, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, blasted some Democrats for “hypocrisy” by trying to minimize Biden’s culpability after hammering Trump for months after the FBI searched Mar-a-Lago in August to retrieve classified documents.
“The thing that’s made this such a story is the hypocrisy, [Democrats] attacking Trump,” he said. “Nobody should take classified materials outside of a secure facility, period.”
Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) said fellow Republicans should “be careful” about “knee-jerking to impeachment.”
“I think the country will fatigue of that,” he said, pointing out that recent impeachment proceedings against former Presidents Clinton and Trump “have not ended up with any real result.”

“If you start doing it on everything, I think it would be bad politically and for the mechanics of government working,” he said.
Democrats picked up five House seats in the 1998 midterm elections as the Republican majority was in the midst of gearing up to impeach Clinton, marking a rare instance when the president’s party picked up House seats in the middle of a second term.
Republicans picked up 14 House seats in the 2020 election after Democrats impeached Trump at the end of 2019.
What a pleasant change from the America hating crowd of athletes!
They are in bed with Biden and others. This should not surprise any of us.
And, yes, it is treason.
The media ignored a very fateful event in the waning days of the Obama administration

Independent journalist Mike McCormick served as a White House stenographer during the Obama administration, an experience that provided him with both insider knowledge and a unique perspective. In a recent Substack post, McCormick questioned why, less than two weeks prior to former President Donald Trump’s inauguration, the Obama administration chose to give the “green light” to lift the moratorium on federal funding for gain-of-function research, or research intended to increase the lethality or the transmissibility of a pathogen.
In the process, he exposed some fateful developments, largely unreported by the press, that occurred in the weeks before former President Barack Obama handed over the reins to his successor.
Heretofore, Obama appeared throughout his presidency (at least publicly) to be leery of the risks associated with GOF research. His concern grew after a series of “ biosafety incidents ” had occurred at government research facilities. And in October 2014, his administration announced a pause on all funding of GOF research, during which they would conduct an assessment of its “potential risks and benefits.”
This “deliberative process” ended on Jan. 9, 2017, when the White House Office of Science and Technology set in motion the events that would lift the moratorium on funding later that year.
“Today, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) is releasing ‘Recommended Policy Guidance for Departmental Development of Review Mechanisms for Potential Pandemic Pathogen Care and Oversight (P3CO).’ Adoption of these recommendations will satisfy the requirements for lifting the current moratorium on certain life sciences research that could enhance a pathogen’s virulence and/or transmissibility to produce a potential pandemic pathogen (an enhanced PPP). [Emphasis added.]
Issuance of this policy guidance concludes the deliberative process launched in October 2014 by OSTP and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).”
This stunning announcement received little or no press coverage. By that time, the media’s obsession with taking down Trump and painting him as an agent of Russia was dominating the news cycle.
The NIH’s decision to start funding GOF research again suddenly should have set off national alarms, especially since it ran counter to warnings from the scientific community. In a November 2015 report on GOF published in the science journal Nature, scientists concluded that “building chimeric viruses based on circulating strains [is] too risky to pursue, as increased pathogenicity in mammalian models cannot be excluded.”
The recommendation to end the moratorium also flew in the face of what Obama’s Homeland Security adviser, Lisa Monaco , considered “one of the gravest risks for the new administration”: the emergence of an “infectious disease.” The President’s Council of Advisers on Science and Technology similarly sent a letter to Obama just days after Trump’s victory warning him of the very real threat of biological attack. The 16-page letter explicitly warned that the “modification of pathogens to overcome existing immunity or to be resistant to available drugs.” In other words, GOF posed a serious threat to national security.
Despite these warnings, the National Institutes of Health lifted the pause on GOF funding in December 2017 — conveniently placing responsibility for this unfortunate decision on Trump.
Just four days later, White House officials conducted a tabletop exercise with their incoming Trump administration counterparts. The topic? How to respond to “the worst influenza pandemic since 1918.”
The similarities of this fictitious scenario with the pandemic that would devastate the world less than three years later are staggering. During the White House exercise, participants were asked to imagine that a highly transmissible respiratory virus was already raging in London, Seoul, and Jakarta. Medical service providers in affected areas were overwhelmed and some travel bans had already been implemented in this hypothetical.
Little did they know that this hypothetical would soon become the world’s reality.
In China, a U.S. team of scientists led by Dr. Ralph Baric, a well-known University of North Carolina virologist and professor, and a Chinese team led by Dr. Shi Zhengli, the director of the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, better known as the “batwoman,” were collaborating on a project that is now well known. In the end, they “created a modified coronavirus that was shown to be able to latch on to human cells and replicate in lung cells, efficiently enough to cause a pandemic.”
The NIH’s quiet and inexplicable decision allowed then-Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci to direct funds to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a lab known for its inadequate safety practices , where Baric and Zhengli’s COVID research was taking place. Keep in mind: Zhengli herself was an author of the report that had recently concluded the COVID experiments were “too risky to pursue.” Yet our government sent hundreds of thousands of dollars to the WIV anyway.
McCormick called this “Obama’s poison pill,” a characterization I initially considered to be alarmist. I’ve changed my mind. After looking at the timeline, I find it appropriate.

Behind debt-ceiling fight: spendaholic Democrats on course to destroy our economic future
By Betsy McCaughey January 24, 2023 6:20pm Updated
Most people don’t lie awake at night worried about the national debt. Unfortunately, that includes President Joe Biden and the spendaholic Democrats in Congress.
They should be worried. Frankly, so should you, no matter your politics. Economics is a science, and numerous studies by world-class economists confirm that when a nation’s debt gets too high, it pushes the economy into decline. Inflation soars, jobs become scarcer, and mortgage rates to buy a home are unaffordable. Ouch.
America is heading off that cliff. The national debt is at the highest level since World War II and forecast to break that record soon. In 2022, it hit 98% of gross domestic product — everything we all produce going to work every day — and is growing rapidly.
The United States is in the company of nations such as Mozambique, Bhutan, Angola, Portugal and Greece. We don’t want our kids to live in a crumbling economy.
It wasn’t always like this. Over the last 50 years, debt to GDP has averaged 46%.
Republicans, who just took control of the House of Representatives, are withholding the House’s approval to raise the debt ceiling — the amount the nation is legally permitted to borrow — until Democrats negotiate a plan to reduce spending and pull the country back from its dire straits.
Biden, visiting Al Sharpton’s National Action Network on Martin Luther King Day, called House Republicans “fiscally demented.”
Never mind that it takes nerve for Biden to call anybody “demented”: Republicans are making a reasonable demand. If Washington’s leaders won’t rein in government spending, who will?
New York Times columnist Paul Krugman calls the House Republicans’ quid pro quo “economic terrorism.” Nonsense. The real domestic terrorism is Congress’ continued spending on borrowed money.
It can only go on so long. Ordinary people who live on credit cards and pay only the monthly minimum can tell you that. Eventually, credit-card payments don’t pay for any new goods or services, just interest.
That’s what our nation faces if it doesn’t change course now. Interest expenses will mount, rates will go up, and an increasing proportion of tax revenues will be consumed paying interest. The Congressional Budget Office predicts that over the next 10 years, interest costs will triple. So in a decade, interest outlays will exceed defense spending. Yikes.
Eventually, if fiscal sanity is not restored, government will have to cut services or impose massive tax hikes — or both.
Worse, as government borrows more, less money is available to make loans to businesses and home buyers. Jobs dry up and wages decline. The economy spirals downward. It isn’t a pretty picture. Ask economists who have examined high-debt countries.
Harvard’s Carmen Reinhart and Kenneth Rogoff analyzed 44 countries in their landmark analysis for the American Economic Review. They found that when national debt exceeds 90% of GDP — a benchmark that’s already in America’s rearview mirror — the economy falters.
Thirty-six other studies confirm excessive government borrowing sabotages economic growth. Washington pols need to stop padding their own political fortunes and look at these scientific facts.
Alas, there’s no hope Democrats will agree to spending reforms without pressure from House Republicans withholding the debt-ceiling hike.
After all, in December, as a last hurrah before ceding control of the House, Democrats enacted an omnibus spending bill that included 7,200 earmarks — favorite projects of often-unnamed legislators bringing pork home to their districts.
Earmarks, a symbol of corruption, had been banned for a decade, but in 2021 the Democratic-controlled Congress reinstated them in a flourish of political cynicism. Like holding up a middle finger to the unsuspecting public.
The rhetorical attacks on Republicans for delaying a hike in the debt ceiling are mounting. Bloomberg’s editors call the Republican strategy “malpractice.” Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) accuses Republicans of an “extremist agenda.”
There is nothing “extremist” about putting the nation on a responsible fiscal plan. Republicans need to stay unified — a formidable challenge — and hold their ground.
The party of unlimited spending and vote buying must be stopped, before the US economy and our standard of living are destroyed.
